"I don't understand what this taste is. It's far too sweet for my preferences, I still prefer black tea." He said to her, drinking again from his cup, a few sips away from being finished.

An hour or so prior, this man was simply an intruder to her home, looking for black tea and fixing her cupboards, now she's welcomed him like a long lost friend.

"I hate to go on a tangent from this beverage talk, but how did you get into my home exactly?" she asked quite shyly, feeling intimidated by this timid but dominant character.

He thought for a while, and finally spoke, "I remember doing paperwork on my desk while reading your book, and somehow I awoke on your bed- I must have fallen asleep on my desk. I was unfamiliar with where I was and decided to look around your dwelling. I figured it was your home when I recognized you- as you were accurately described in the book- in an illustration which almost looked real. You were were with a man in that picture." He looked to the side as he ended, saying the last sentence dryly.

"Oh yeah, that's my close cousin," she replied, unaware of the slight relief on his face. "So, do you know how you will get back?" She continued, returning to the subject.

"I'm not sure. I fear that people will need me, and that the cause of their death is my absence. People rely on me to protect them." He said, turning the subject into a darker tone.

"Well, you are 'humanities greatest soldier', the responsibility is quite huge" she replied, attempting to lighten the conversation.

"Tch," he looked irritated with her response "that title does not matter, it just bears more pressure on me. Being relied on to preserve human lives is not an easy job, people get disappointed when you fail to do so, and it is not a pleasant feeling to be looked down upon, after coming home from a tiring expedition, I tell you." She paused before responding, trying to find something to say to diffuse the tension. She felt bad for him, for how this was something he must deal with frequently, to be expected to have a flawless performance without any casualties.

"I'm sorry, I clearly do not understand what it is like to be in your position. But I do share the same feeling of being looked down upon. The severity of the situations may not be in par with each other, and I might seem like a weakling for being so affected by my emotions, but people have looked down on me before. It's a horrible feeling, and for you to feel a heavier amount of it must take a toll on you." Her hands began playing with her cup as she stared down into it.

Levi's face turned softer after what he had just heard from her. This moment reminded him of why he found her character pleasant. Her character gave him a better connection to his emotions whenever he read her book, he felt like he would be the one she talked to whenever she dealt with her friend in distress. Whenever he read about her, he somehow felt more human.

Of course she was not the main character of the book, she was simply a side-character to keep the main character more interesting. Nonetheless, Levi still enjoyed her character as he felt enlightened by her words whenever she spoke in the book. A man who never let his emotions show through had an outlet; and it was her.

"Well, I guess it's time to sleep," she finally said, feeling awkward with the silence between them. Levi was unaware that he had been staring off into space until he looked at her.

"Right, I'm pretty exhausted after being nearly attacked by that big ass spoon." He replied with a stoic face, getting up from his chair.

Laughter erupted from her, "Oh my god."

"What is it?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Sorry, sorry, it's just that in the series you said 'Look around you, Eren. At all these big ass trees.' Do you remember saying that?" She lamely quoted like an obsessed fangirl. She could hardly stop, small laughs interrupting her as she asked him.

Levi felt slightly lighter, as if for a moment he'd forgotten of his stress. Her laugh was warm- she thought it sounded monstrous and unappealing- however, for someone who lives in a universe where there is no time for laughter, he thought it felt quite liberating to hear a genuine laugh. It was an unfamiliar feeling.

"I don't recall that, I don't remember anything I say to that brat, they're not worth remembering."

She yawned, "It's okay, its a story for a different time. We should probably go to sleep. It's 3:30 in the morning. We need to figure out how to get you back home tomorrow." She got up from her seat to get extra pillows and blankets from a closet in her room.

The words stung her; she did not want him to leave just yet. It seemed pretty ridiculous to her which was never why she admitted to herself that she felt attracted to Levi's character. For god's sake, I am 20 years old, I cannot be falling for a fictional character yet again. She would usually remind herself whenever she read his book.

A fictional character whom she admired greatly was there before her, and she did not want him to leave, for all she knew, he could never be able to find his way back to her universe and she only had this chance to show her admiration for him.

"Do you want to sleep on a bed or on a couch?" she shouted out to him on the living room.

"I'll sleep on the couch. I'm only a visitor, I'd hate to impose." he replied, walking to the doorway of her room.

He looked around and saw the colour leave his face. She looked at him, feeling her own face heat up immensely. He clicked his tongue, "How are you able to live in such filthy quarters?"

"Oh, g-god, sorry about that, I promise I will clean it," although her room was tidy, it did not meet up to Levi's standards. His definition of clean is absolutely spotless- no one would be able to achieve that level of cleanliness.

"I refuse to leave this house until it is clean. We start cleaning tomorrow." With that, he took the pillows and blankets and went to the living room to sleep.

What a day, she thought, once she was finally alone, pinching herself in the cheek as she changed into her night clothes to ensure herself she was not just in a dream. I guess not.

She laid down on her bed and slowly fell asleep.

"Oi (y/n)," a voice behind her woke her up. "(y/n), wake up. I can't fall asleep because some damned question has been bothering me this whole time." It was Levi.

She turned around and grunted, covering half her face so he would not see her in her sleepy, undesirable state. She looked at the clock for a second. I've only been asleep for 10 minutes. What the hell.

"Yes? What is your question?" her voice muffled under her blanket, her eyes slowly closing again. She needed rest, and him interrupting her sleep for a second time did not help.

"Nothing. I cannot sleep." He replied, pulling a chair beside her bed, crossing his arms and legs.

"You can talk to me until you fall asleep, but I can't guarantee I'll be able to stay awake for our whole conversation. I've heard that you're pretty talkative anyway. Tell me about your expeditions beyond the walls." she replied sleepily. She wanted to hear what he had to say, bu her mind couldn't fight the urge to sleep.

"Alright," he sat, closing his eyes. "This expedition was my first one, and Erwin had just recruited me into the scouting legion, he was such a blonde prick; he tried to submerge my head in water to convince me to tell him my name and join his damn regiment..." it was the last thing she heard before slumber pulled her away from consciousness.

---

She woke up the next morning to see Levi sleeping on the edge of her bed, his head tucked inside his arms, facing her direction not too far from hers. Pink tinted her cheeks at the sight of the handsome man, so vulnerable and peaceful. He must have fallen asleep while telling me about Erwin. For a while she stared at him and sat up, took in every feature of the beautiful man, fathoming what happened the night before. She reached over to him to touch the tip of his nose just to make sure she was not hallucinating or possibly going crazy, and partially because she wanted to touch his skin for the first time.

Boop, a snicker came out of her mouth as she touched his nose. He would have probably been infuriated with her if he found out she was touching the captain Levi's nose while he was asleep.

He woke up just as she pulled away from him. Fuck, she thought to herself, she was now blushing profusely at the sight of a sleepy Levi, scrambling to cover her face with her blanket. Levi grumbled and completely opened his eyes, still resting his head on his arms "Why are you like that? Were you staring at me while I was sleeping? You damn creep." He rubbed his eyes with his arms and rose from his position. Oh god that was so cute. She thought. Her heart raced at the sight of him rubbing his eyes like a child.

"N-no not at all, captain Levi" she felt compelled to call him "captain" since he was the superior to everyone where he lived; even in her universe, she felt he was superior to her. His face remained unchanged.

"Get up," he said, standing up from his chair and stretching out his toned arms as he walked to the door. She could see his sleeves hugging his arms tightly as he streched them out. "Help me make some food. I dont know where half of the shit is since your house is a mess." he said coldly. She was beggining to doubt that he actually favoured her character. She liked Levi, but her worries laid on whether he would ever feel that way. Her insecurities washed over her once again. After months and months of reading about Levi, she did not know how he showed affection, or if he did show any affection at all, for that fact. In a world where everyday is a living hell, there was no time for silly things such as love. She brushed the thought away, preventing from bringing herself down.

Following him out, she asked, "What do you want to have for breakfast?"

"I'm simply making eggs. Also, what is this... pancake thing your people usually eat for this meal? I've read it a few times." he looked through the all the cupboards, opening drawers multiple times to check if he just didn't see what he was trying to find.

"I'll make it for you, you have to try it." She took out a bowl from her cupboard and the ingredients needed to make pancake batter.

"Where are your eg-" he stopped mid sentence as he looked at her. The sight made him freeze, but he still kept his calm face.

"Where are my what?" she looked back at him- his eyes looking right at her legs. She was unaware he was staring at her because of her bare legs which exposed by her shorts. Her mind was far too congested with thoughts to even remember she was wearing them.

He cleared his throat as he looked away, trying to suppress his flustered reaction. "Eggs. Where are the eggs." She raised an eyebrow, did he have a stroke? She thought, clearly oblivious of the fact that she was exposing her legs to a man who has never seen a woman's legs up to the thighs before.

"In the refrigerator," he looked around like a lost dog, figuring out what the refrigerator was.

"What the fuck?" He mumbled to himself but she still heard.

"It's the thing that looks-" she sighed "here," She walked over to the fridge and handed Levi the carton of eggs and began making their food.

Once they finished, they sat at the table, she set down the pancakes and he set down the scrambled eggs and began eating.

"This pancake thing, its like flattened bread." He said as he took a bite. He enjoyed the taste and she was able to tell. Not even humanities strongest soldier can hate pancakes. She chuckled quietly to herself, earning a look from him, but he did not bother to even comment.

"I have a question."

He hummed an "mm" letting her know to proceed with it.

"Have you finished your book yet?" She asked after savouring the taste of the scrambled eggs, delicately made by captain Levi.

"Not even close. Have you?"

"No. The author is still updating the series. I've been waiting for weeks." He didn't respond. Instead, he proceeded to eat. "Another question." He looked at her, as if to show her that he was anticipating for her to continue.

"What is it?"

"Nothing. Nevermind."

He proceeded to eat once again. After a while, she continued and shamelessly blurted, "Captain Levi, How old are you?"
