Chapter one.
Eclipses POV
I sat in the park, listening to music and reading a book. The day was nice, warm, a slight breeze, unusual for summer here. The days usually blasting humid heat were forgotten for the time being. When I looked around, from the bench where I was I could see birds pecking the ground where a child seemed to drop something, crackers probably. Squirrels chatted at the base of a tree....
My attention was drawn away when someone walked past me, sitting on the other end of the bench. She wore camo print pants and a black tank top. Her hair was in a low, loose ponytail, though it was colored weirdly. Even though it was covered by a wide billed camo hat I could tell the top was black. As it went further down it faded to grey, then was white at the tip. She looked to be waiting for something.
I took an ear bud out. "Hey, you need something? You look lonely."
All she did was glare at me, then look away and check her watch.
"Fine, be grouchy," I responded, putting it back in.
After a while I noticed two people walk by and stop at her end of the bench. One of them was carrying a brief case. He set it down while they talked then they both walked away. I eyed them suspiciously, watching the girl pick up the case, open it, and smile at the contents.
I turned off my music, and looked over. "What's that?"
She closed it and stood, "Nothing you should care about." She walked over and leaned close, "Stay out of other people's business," she said smirking. When she walked away she pulled her shirt down over a hand gun that was tucked in the back of her pants. Startled, I stood.
"Hey, Stop right now!" I yelled, catching up. "Why do you have a gun?"
"Didn't I say to stay out of other peoples business?" she replied coolly.
I crossed my arms, "Yeah, I just was too busy not really caring."
"I suggest forgetting about me." She said, smirking again.
"I suggest you telling me what's in that case before I get the police involved," I retorted, raising my eyebrows, daring her to oppose.
But she smiled and turned toward me, "A lot of people do that. Then they really regret it." she pated me on the head, "Nice meeting you Eclipse" she said even though I never told her my name. Then she spoke something into her watch and a helicopter flew in overhead, dropping a ladder that she grabbed onto. I watched them fly away, despair forming in my stomach. Then I walked home.
