Chapter 8

Magnus waited in the small interrogation room nervously rubbing his sweaty palms together in angst as his eyes traveled around the room over and over again even though there wasn't much to see.

There was a metal table that stood in the middle of the room with 3 chairs surrounding it as well as a microphone. On the wall the numbers 1-6 were lined in a row most likely for a confrontation causing a shiver to spread throughout his entire body and down his spine when he thought about what reason people usually sat here for.

He had no idea how he should explain this to his dad but the truth wasn't an option because it would only worry him and he didn't want to add more weight to his father's shoulders.

"Sorry it took so long. The guy from last night was just transported to a different prison." Alec slipped inside the room followed by another man Magnus didn't recognize but he wore the same clothes like Alec meaning he must be a good guy as well.

"Hello my name is Hao Kumar, I'm Special Agent Lightwoods partner. Nice to meet you." The man had asian features and a very comforting aura as well which was way lighter than Alecs dark and mysterious one.

"I'm Mag-Magnus B-Bane. Nice to meet you, Sir." Magnus replied trying to hide his nerves because he didn't want them to see how much the experience had actually affected him but didn't fool either since Alec and his partner were trained for noticing such things.

"No need to be worried or nervous, Boy. We just have some short questions that could possibly help us to figure some things out." Hao's smile encouraged Magnus a little but to his surprise the presence of Alec was what really calmed and grounded him. Despite Alec's appearance being so intimidating it surely did help.

"My partner is right, Mr. Bane. We should be done in maybe an hour or so and then you can leave but we'd like to talk with your pare..." "No! No you can't do that! I mean...my mom's dead anyway and my dad is way to busy...isn't me answering all the questions going to be enough?" Magnus asked with a muffled voice keeping his head low causing a growl to creep its way from Alec's throat when he saw Hao's light smirk knowing exactly what he must be thinking.

"Okay, first Never interrupt me again, and second we will see. Alright?" Alec said his eyes dark and again Magnus didn't feel like he had much of a choice so he only nodded as Hao rolled his eyes. "You said you are 19, were you born here in Long Island City?" Alec asked while writing something down or more likely filling something out and looked towards Magnus with a raised eyebrow when he didn't answer right away.

"No....I was born in Indonesia... Makassar to be exact." Magnus answered hesitantly never feeling as nervous in his entire life as he did right now and Alec frowned before scribbling it down. This was a small connection to the gang because they originated from Indonesia too but from Jakarta and not Makassar.

These two citys were 800 miles apart and there wasn't a case there that involved the Gang because Alec checked every Indonesian city with cases the Laskar gang had been involved in and Makassar wasn't one of them.

"When did you come to America then?" Alec asked his curiosity fully awoken and Hao flashed him a quick glance knowing what his partner had in mind. Magnus saw the looks they exchanged and knew he had to make one thing clear so he did. "We aren't illegal immigrants or whatever you're thinking.

My dad worked hard to get the American citizenship. We came here when I was 5." Magnus exclaimed worried his dad would get in trouble for anything Magnus said and he was glad to see Alec believing nod. "When and why did you leave Indonesia?" Alec asked and if Magnus hated one thing it was this question because it only brought him pain.

The pain of this answer sat deep in Magnus heart and he knew he would never be able to shake it. Only thinking about the reason his dad wanted to leave brought tears to Magnus eye's and every alarm in Alecs body went off when he saw the tears shimmering in the beautiful golden brown eyes.

"Hey...don't cry please. If you don't want to answer its okay but you'd really be helping us." Alec couldn't remember a time he felt so much sympathy for a person involved in his investigations or even just in general but this boy was certainly something else.

"I...uh...it's fine...I just..." Magnus felt so embarrassied for crying but thinking about that time was awful and every time he did his hands started to shake. Alec hated seeing the young boy in such a state and he did something he never did because on the one hand it was against the rules and two... he didn't care enough about the other people.

"Hao, I'm moving the questioning to my office and I'm going do it solo. You can check the transportation on our gang member." Alec said packing his papers and Magnus looked upwards obviously confused as he stood. "Follow me please." Alec said pushing the door open for everyone and Magnus followed the order without hesitation quickly wiping the tears from his cheeks.

"Wow..." Magnus gasped when he walked in Alecs office and saw the stunning view Alec had of the whole city." Please sit down, do you want a coffee?" Alec asked trying to sound not too abrasive and scary even though he liked that part of him. He liked how his aperance scared every other person but he didn't miss the fact that Magnus seemed to be calm around him.

He saw how Magnus got slightly less nervous when he came in the room. But Magnus was way too pure for Alec and he would never dare ruin such an innocent soul. Little did Alec know how much this soul was pleading to be ruined by him...//
