Chapter 20

"Thank you... and sorry again for causing so much trouble." Magnus mumbled as he climbed out of the car shutting the door not giving Alec a chance to say anything in response. Alec sighed a little but decided against asking why Magnus jumped out of the car as soon as possible because he already knew exactly why. Alec really didn't want to upset the young man like that but he needed to protect him from what Alec could really be like even if it hurt him like hell it was the kind of hurt he could recover from.

Alec took the time from watching Magnus vanish inside his house to calm down a little before he drove off. This boy was so magnificent and he made it feel like the son was shining in the middle of a hurricane. He was like a bright light after long dark skies. Sadly he was too bright for Alec. Alec would only destroy everything beautiful about Magnus, and Magnus’ reaction after seeing what was going on in the club just reenforced the conclusion that he shouldn’t even be near him and made it more clear that there was no way he could never be one of Alecs subs.

If Magnus really did join this lifestyle he needed someone he could trust and would stay with him not someone who jumped from one partner to another. Magnus deserved someone who loved him unconditionally and who gave him shelter. He deserved someone to handle emotions and who was able to comfort him when the world wasn’t being fair. All these things Alec miserably failed it continually even though it wasn’t like he didn't try. Alec tried a multiple of times to be sensitive and loving but he just couldn't. He couldn't allow himself to let emotions in because with the emotions came dark memories.

They came back like hail on his body, opening up wounds that were still healing. Magnus deserved a man who would trust him entirely but Alec knew he would never be able to do that. Alec learned what happened if he trusted people. He learned that even the people who should be trusted the most can turn their backs on you and if they do, hurt you the most. He had to learn at a young age that every kind of love was connected with mental and physical pain making him unable to love or to be loved.

A part of him wanted to protect his reputation because Magnus put him on the edge. Magnus was a terrifying type of person that made Alec question if his attitude was right or if there was another way to live. Once more Alec drove home with thoughts of what if torturing him because of the boy with the purest smile Alec had ever seen. There was this little piece of Alecs heart that wasn't quite turned to stone yet waiting for this change to transform the rest of him into the man he could be... he just didn’t know it yet. It was waiting for every layer of stone to be peeled back so the sunlight could touch it.

But how much can your heart of stone surrive when you left it for 10 years. Had it already been too long? Was it already too late to rescue him even though it had just started? Magnus quickly closed the door behind him his heart slamming against his chest not seeming tone able to calm. Magnus’ thoughts were rapped around the kiss. Never before had Magnus felt like that. It was like falling off a cliff and hitting the cold surface of the water below. First your whole body freezes. You hold your breath when you feel your feet touch the water.

But once you're completely submerged you just stay still for a while, you let your body adjust and feel a sense of calm wash over you. You come up for air and your head finds its way to the surface you finally take in a real breath. That’s what it feels like. Only after you pop up again you realize how much you needed to breath. "There you are! Where have you been?" It was the voice of his father that pulled Magnus out of his daze. "I was worried sick, Son." Asmodeus added as he hugged his son and Magnus embraced him back.

His heart felt like the last shard holding everything together just crumpled resulting in it was shattering into thousands of little pieces when he was in the safe arms of his father. It suddenly felt like he had been dipped in boiling hot water as his whole body was burning in pain. He gave Alec a rose and let him decide if he would let it die or let it grow... and Alec let it die. He didn't just let it die, he set it on fire and let it burn down to ashes right in front of Magnus eyes.

"Magnus... hey... what's wrong?" Asmodeus asked confused when his son only pushed him aside and ran off to his room. Magnus didn't want his dad to see him in that state but at the same time he only wanted his dad to tell him everything was going to be alright. "Magnus, come on. What's wrong, Buddy?" Asmodeus asked worried as he walked inside his sons room only to find him sobbing into his pillow. "It hurts, Papa... it hurts so bad." Magnus cried pressing his head even harder into his pillow and Asmodeus sat down on the edge of his bed. "What hurts? Did someone hurt you?" Asmodeus was really concerned because he had never seen his son like this.

"He... he doesn't like me back." Magnus sobbed pulling back from his pillow with tears streaming down his face and Asmodeus cracked a weak smile finally understanding. "Oh my, boy. It's okay... Papa is here." Asmodeus said wrapping his arms around Magnus who really appreciated the embrace. He had barely seen Alec twice and it still hurt like hell to get it made so clear that he would never even have a chance.

It hurt like hell to hear it so clearly from Alec himself that there was no chance in the world for them to get to know each other. If only they both knew this was only the start of their story and not the end maybe it would stop wasted tears and wasted thoughts...//tbc
