Shirnila squinted her eyes to open and tried to sit up, but the moment she insisted, she felt dizzy and held the bed for support before she fell on the bed again. She looked around to process what happened all of a sudden, as she remembered the intimate moment she shared with him.

Suddenly, she reminisced something and looked below her, and was surprised when she was fully dressed. When she tried to recall the happenings, she remembered the sharp pricking pain on her arm and caressed the place where she felt it.

Her eyes fell on the syringe and the bottle of anaesthetic drug, and instantly realised what should have happened. A smile crept her lips when her eyes turned shiny. She slowly got down from the bed and washed her face before leaving his room to go on search of him.

A tearful chuckle escaped her mouth when she remembered his words which were clearly heard, even though she was in a sedated state.

'En uyire ponalum poha maten ma..'

She stopped in her tracks when she found him in the living hall, checking something.

'Yen Avyu?' (why)

Avyaan jerked when he heard her voice. He turned towards her but clearly avoided her eyes, which made her smile.

'Solu..yen paadhila pona?' she probed which made him sigh and walk past her.

Before he walked, she held his wrist and stopped him.

'Badhil solitu po..'

'Enala mudila..' he said blankly.

'Yen?'

'Vidu Nila..' he tried to wiggle out of her hold, but it was pretty tight, which made him stay back without opposing.

'Yen nu solu..'

Unable to hold back, he turned towards her and raised his voice,

'Yen na ennoda viyaadhi unna kaayapaduthradha enala poruthukka mudiyathu! apdi onnu nadakratha vida naane sethu po..' before he finished, she kept her palm on his mouth to stop him.

He stared at her while both their eyes shed tears.

'Inum unaku puriyalaya Avyu?'

Shirnila felt his body shiver when he tried to suppress his overwhelming emotions and she slowly removed her hand from him before talking,

'Unala control pana mudiyadhu nu ni nenaikra unoda compulsion ah, nethu ni enakaha control panikita..yenga enna hurt panniruviyo nu bayandhu nethu ni intha drug ah enaku inject panita..'

She showed the bottle which she brought in her hand, and Avyaan spared a look at it before he looked back at her in guilt.

'Unala enna hurt pana mudiyadhu..yen nu theriyuma?'

He continued looking at her while she continued with tears,

'Yen na, ni enmela vachirukra anbukku munadi un obsession lam onnume illa Avyu..'

Avyaan stared at her while tears fell down his eyes. Whatever she said was right. No matter how intense his obsession and compulsion were. When it comes to her, it was her completely; nothing bothered him other than his Nila.

It was true that he enraged each time when she distanced herself from him. The urge to have her with him was so strong that he couldn't even think further to consider her thoughts and feelings before he abducted her, despite of the external factor which drove him additionally to do so and yet to be revealed. He didn't realise his inner determination which he had for her; the respect and the feelings were intense yet buried within him by his repetitive compulsive thoughts which he thought would be harmful.

'Ni ithu varaikum enkita manasa thorandhu un feelingsa sonathe ila, yen na unaku enmela irukrathu obsession mattum dha nu un manasu nenachutu iruku, aana unaku enmela irukra obsession ku karanam ni enmela vachirukra unmayana anbu Avyu..'

'Unoda compulsion, unoda desire ah thaandi ni enakaha yosichappove unaku enmela irukra anbu, mariyadha evlo nu ni kamichuta..ipo solu..intha nimisham, intha nodi..unoda anbu evlo uyarvanadhu nu enaku theriyum, athu un manasukum theriyum..ithuku mela ethuku wait panra Avyu?'

He already knew how deep he was in his obsession on her, but the moment she explained it, he realised that his love had that capacity to win his obsession. He did have the desire to possess her but that was not at the cost of her own feelings. Maybe the distance he had with her all these years, failed to explain it to him, but the moment she was ready to give in, he realised how much he was in love with this woman and tried to fight his urges which tormented him, only for her sake.

'Unala resist pana mudiyum, na unkooda irukrappo..ithu ni enmela vachirukra anbu naala matum dha Avyu..' Shirnila's eyes shed tears while she spoke further,

'Innaiku ni enna inga kutitu vanthu yezhavadhu naal (seventh), intha ezhu naal la oru naal kuda unala enna kaayapaduthavo, kaayapaduthanum nu nenaikavo mudila..intha yezhu naal matum ila Avyu, inum ezhu varusham, ezhu jenmam aanalum unala atha panna mudiyathu, except one..'

She paused before her lips uttered,

'Love..'

Avyu felt his tears roll down his cheeks, and he went breathless all of a sudden. His lips trembled and hands shivered when he eyes bored into his, which screamed her love for him regardless of his condition he was in. She was there to accept him with his flaws, when he was hesitant to open his heart. That moment, he saw his mother in her and he himself melted as a yearning kid.

Shirnila held both his hands and lifted them to secure them in her kutty hands and pressed them gently before she spoke,

'Solliru Avyu..'

His heart skipped when she said it. It is going to happen. The moment he thought that would never happen; the moment which he yearned for, even though he believed that it would be overpowered by his obsession; the moment he wished her to listen to him which he couldn't that day when she met with the accident, turning everything upside down.

He looked at their entwined hands before he shifted his eyes to look into her eyes,

'I love you Nila..'

The moment he uttered those words, a gush of tears fell down both their eyes. Shirnila touched her forehead on their entwined hands as she couldn't control the sudden outburst of emotions. This was the moment Avyaan couldn't bring back then, but now everything felt like a dream, yet it happened for real.

Avyaan joined his forehead her head and whispered,

'Enna nadanthalum, yaru enna sonnalum enkoodave irupiya Nila?' 

Shirnila frowned at his question but opened her mouth to give her reply, but before she said that a loud bang on the main door to the underground tunnel jerked them off, and Shirnila stood there shocked when she witnessed Nilosh entering in with the police force.

Shirnila looked at Avyaan who stood there with an expression which showed clear anger and rage. The team who broke in, rushed towards Avyaan and held his hands to stop him while he tried to resist their hold. Bala pointed the gun towards Avyaan to stop him, while Shirnila gasped in horror.

Before she processed, Nilosh came towards her and caught her hand,

'Nila, unaku onnum aahalaye..'

She immediately wiggled her hand out of his, which made him frown but soon brushed it off. His eyes turned towards Avyaan with extreme anger and he punched him on his face, making Shirnila shout.

'Niruthunga..vendam!!!!'

She cried and tried to stop her while Preethi and Pavithra held her back, making her shocked.

'Ei enna vidunga..avara adikka vendam nu sollunga!!! please!!' she cried, while she noticed Avyaan bleeding from his nose and mouth.

'Evlo dhairiyam iruntha enoda Shirnilava kadaththuva?'

Hearing Nilosh's words, Avyaan's eyes turned dark before he uttered in his dangerous voice,

'Ava ennoda Nila..'

His words made Nilosh furious before he punched him again in frustration,

'B***ard! how dare you..'

Bala intervened and stopped Nilosh,

'Ei vidra! ini nanga pathukrom...'

Nilosh turned towards her and asked her to leave,

'Kelambu..polam..'

'Mudiyadhu..na inga tha irupen..avara adikka vendam..' she cried.

Nilosh turned furious and pulled her harshly. For a while, Preethi and Pavithra were confused about his cold demeanor which they had never seen before, so did Shirnila. She tried to resist his pull and her father's dollar chain which she wore, accidentally got pressed before they heard an alarm in the surrounding area.

Shirnila stood there confused and snapped her head towards the direction where the alarm sound came from and instantly froze. Her eyes stagnated with tears when she found the transmitter beside Avyaan and realised that he had it all this time. His eyes expressed nothing, but they were fixed on Nilosh who looked back at him in confusion.

'In..intha transmitter..unkita..' Shirnila couldn't form words as her mind was clouded with her father's thoughts. 

Avyaan didn't answer her question but gave a cold look to Nilosh before he spoke,

'Ni yen Nila pinadi varra nu enaku theriyathu nu nenachiya da Nirav Abhimanyu..'

Nilosh's face turned pale while everyone looked at him in confusion. His hold on Shirnila's hand loosened while Shirnila looked at Avyaan in confusion when he addressed Nilosh with a different name.

'Unna inga vara vachathe na tha da..'

Nilosh's eyes widened in shock when Bala's gun turned towards Nilosh,

'Sorry Nilosh, you are caught..'

Before everyone processed, the policemen caught him, leaving Avyaan back who wiped the blood off his face and smirked.

Bala walked towards Shirnila who stood there in shock-filled confusion.

'Nilosh neenga nenaikra mari nallavan kedayathu..he is a person who works for a dangerous terrorist association..unga appa duty la irunthappo namma naatuku mela nadaka pora oru major terrorist attack pathi kandupudicharu..'

'Athu valakkama nadakra mari attacks oh weapon war oh kedayathu..athu oru bio war..namma naatu makkala health wise dependant aaki, matha naadugalukku munnadi adimayaaki nikka vachu thokadikrathukaha avanga pota plan adhu..'

'Ithoda master mind, intha Nilosh oda uncle..who is no more..'

Shirnila looked at him shocked, while he continued,

'Ivanoda appa ammaku ithu ethuvume theriyathu..they adopted him..ithu kuda ivan uncle oda plan tha..because ivanga plan ah execute panrathuku ivanga public la oruthara vaazhanum, apo dha yarkume sandhegam varadhu..so ivanoda 12 vayasula ivana adopt panikitanga avanga..'

'Ivanoda real face enaku kuda theriyathu..(chuckles in pain) en friend aave enkooda irunthaan..thannoda adayalatha veliya kaatikamale enga elarayum emathitaan..'

'He was behind you for some reason..unga moolama unga appa collect pani vacha evidence ah epdiyavathu unga kita irunthu vangrathukaha tha ungala kalyanam panika try panaan..'

Shirnila tried to process his words as she couldn't believe what Bala said. She wondered what evidence she had with her. 

'Ungaloda chinna vayasulaye unga appa ungaloda biometrics use pani secure panna files AAA bank la irukra special safety locker la bathrama iruku..atha therinjukitu atha edukrathukaha tha ivan ivlo pannaan..'

Shirnila held her head in pain as she couldn't remember what happened. She only remembered the time she got the dollar chain from his father, but none of the happenings Bala mentioned, was there in her memory.

'Avyaan nethu midnight eh ivana pathi ella details um enaku amichutaaru..'

Shirnila snapped her head at Avyaan, who stood there without a word. She was disappointed in a way, but more than that, she was shocked to process the happenings.

'Enaku oru suspicion ivanmela irunthuchu, aana kandukama vituten...nethu enalaye ithelam namba mudiyala..enga, alert aana thappichuruvano nu dha ungala thedi inga varra mari vanthom..'

'Unmaya solanum na, neenga ipo irukrathu tha ungaloda safest place..'

Shirnila looked Avyaan for an explanation, while Bala understood her thoughts,

'Nilosh oda deeds ah prove panra varaikum dha engalku theriyum..ithelam epdi nadanthuchu nu Avyaan aala matum dha solla mudiyum..'

Bala sighed and dragged Nilosh with his team who clenched his teeth in frustration and left. Shirnila walked towards Avyaan and stared at him in tears,

'Modhalla sollu, en appa kudutha intha dollar oda transmitter unkita epdi vanthuchu?' Shirnila was furious as well as emotional about the happenings. Preethi and Pavithra were also shocked to witness them.

'Un appaku na panni kudutha maraimugamana (indirect) saththiyam..'

Shirnila looked at him for a brief second before she took it from the table and noticed a microchip on it. She took it and immediately inserted it on his laptop and listened to the audio clip which was saved in it.

'Na itha pannathu ennoda ponna kapathrathukaha nu tha ithu varaikum enoda team members nenachutu irupanga, aana oru mukkiyamana terrorist attack oda crucial evidence irukra locker eh en ponnoda biometrics control la than iruku..ithu ennayum ipo intha audiova ketutu irukravangalayum thavira vera yarkume theriyathu..'

'Departmentlayum na work panitu irukra teamlayum yara nambrathu nu enaku therila..athanala enaku nambikkayana ungakita itha amichu vaikren..intha case na handle pana aarambichathuku aprom enaku enna venalum nadakalam nu purinjukiten..thevayana evidence ah maranjirundhu collect panitu iruntha naan, veliya erangi poha vendiya soolnela vanthuruchu, so I am exposed now, that means aabaththu enaku dhoorama illa..'

 'Aana na rendu varshama collect panna evidence ethuvum waste ah poira kudathu..inum 20 varshathula initiate aaha pora intha bio war ah control panrathukuriya ella measures um enala mudincha varaikum collect pani vachiruken..'

'Namma naata intha prachnaila irunthu kapathanum na en ponna ithula irunthu kapathanum..intha vishayam kandippa oru nalaiku veliya theriya varum, apo en ponnu uyiruku aabathu varalam..apo na uyiroda ilanalum avala kapathrathuku oruthar irupanga nu na kadavula vendikiren..'

'Ithu yaroda kaila iruko, avanga en ponnayum intha naatayum kapathiruvanga nu enaku nambikkai iruku..itha enoda kadaisi sathiyama avangakita irunthu na eduthukren..'

Shirnila's eyes got blurred and she looked at Avyaan who looked back at her with softened eyes.

'Unkita ithelam epdi..enga appava..un..' she couldn't form words, while Avyaan sighed and spoke,

'En appa moolama...'

When Avyaan came back from Juvenile Correction School, he was handed over some of his father's belongings including the letters and posts he received all those days. He kept those with him before he left Bombay and went to Coimbatore and stayed at the orphanage with the help of Ramanathan.

Since that, he never got to check what was there in his father's bag and he never wanted to. He wished he should stop thinking about all, so he didn't want to re-kindle his past tragedies. But he noticed that there were certain documents and things which were related to some cases, and he never intended to check it.

One day, he decided to check on it and opened to find many random case files and some of his possessions, but one particular parcel caught his attention. He noticed that there were no sender details and frowned. He opened it and noticed a well-packed box and his curiosity increased to check what was inside.

When he opened it, he saw a shiny wooden box which was of a considerable height and width and inside it, there was a watch which made him confused. From the dimensions of the box which was obviously bigger than how ideally it should be to accommodate a wristwatch, Avyaan realised that it had something else. It didn't take much time for him to notice a transmitter which was hidden underneath the cushion of the watch box.

Avyaan played the microchip and listened to the audio. Also, he noticed a photograph of a dollar. He had no idea about who he was and what this dollar indicated. One thing was clear for him; it was a request that was for his dad who was no more. Avyaan kept it aside as there were no clue to proceed further.

He then met Shirnila, and everything was forgotten about this mystery box until he noticed the same dollar in her neck during her 21st birthday. He failed to notice it even when he was closer, years back. Shock was an understatement for him when he came back and noticed the same dollar's sketch which was placed in that box, along with the transmitter. 

He was surprised as well as felt responsible when he realised how their fates were tangled. Apart from his own feelings for her, this accountability made him more determined towards what he should do. 

When Shirnila agreed to marry Nilosh, he was furious, and his possessive mind didn't allow her to lead a life without him. At that time, he started searching about Nilosh who came from nowhere suddenly to marry her. While checking his background, he found out the reason for his arrival at this point and determined to expose his real face. 

Avyaan who actually planned to abduct her to win her previously, realised the responsibility of saving her from the danger she was about to face, after 15 years of finding the person behind his promise which was her.

He tactfully planned things and kidnapped her not only due to his disliking towards her marriage, but also due to his indirect vow. Avyaan thought that Nilosh would react impulsively in a way to find Shirnila so that he would be easily caught real soon. Along with the details Avyaan collected so far, he included Nilosh's conversations and transactions during this one week to prove everything.

He very well knew that she would try to activate the tracker in her dollar, so he used a jammer in their surrounding area, not wanting to expose everything until he found everything about Nilosh. 

Apart from all, he found it hard to fight his obsession towards Shirnila. When he was distressed about his abnormal compulsions, he diverted his mind towards his duty to rescue her and the national responsibility.

The sixth night, after he sedated Shirnila, he came to his work room which was hidden in the secret shelf and switched off the jammer before he transferred all the relevant details to Bala. The next morning, he anticipated everything to happen, but before that, he decided to tell the truth to Shirnila. 

But before that, Shirnila's confrontation changed everything, and he ended up confessing his feelings before uttering the truth. He feared that she would leave him if he hid it anymore. The moment she was ready to give herself, Avyaan decided to open up about the secret.

Shirnila stood with happy tears when she heard it. It was the destiny which brought them together no matter how it was complicated. Avyaan looked at her changing expressions and a fear crept him.

They both jerked when Devi came to the place unexpectedly.   

She was behind them without their knowledge and heard everything before she shed tears in happiness, seeing her daughter after seven long days.

Shirnila noticed her mother and feared what she was going to say. She walked towards them and hugged her daughter who cried in her embrace. She released her and looked at Avyaan who stood there silently,

'En ponnu kannula ava unmela vachirukra paasamum nambikkayum theriyuthu..ennaikume ava santhosham tha enaku mukkiyam..'

'Athukum mela, ava appa avala oru padhugaapana kaila oppadaikka nenachirukaru, athu avaruku theriyamale antha kadavul un kaila kondu vanthu seriya serthirukaru na ithu elathukum ore kaaranam dha..'

'Antha sathiyatha kapatha vendiya poruppu unakkanadhu mattum dha pa..'

Shirnila broke into tears while Devi caressed her daughter's head and took her palm to join it with Avyaan's.

'Rendu perum nalla irunga..'

Shirnila looked at her mother who kissed her forehead and left with her friends by the path which was led by Lakshmi paati who stood at the entrance with a content smile.

She turned towards Avyaan with a smile, who stood with there with a hesitation and gave the answer for the previous question he asked,

'Enna nadanthalum, yar enna sonalum, unkoodave irupen Avyu...'

Avyaan chuckled with tears before he pulled her into his embrace. It was a surreal moment for them after years of their struggles. His withdrew from her and kissed her forehead and both her cheeks while she too did the same.

They stared into each other's eyes before joining their lips for an emotional yet passionate kiss pouring all their emotions and vowed each other to be there forever no matter what, under the blessings of the Universe which mended them together. 

Avyaan thought that both love and obsession was different. But what he didn't realise was that love itself was an obsession. It has that quality to it.  It is towards someone you can't live without. Someone you fall head over heels for. He found her whom he loved like crazy, and she loved her the same way back. 

Listen to your heart when you are confused. No sense in life without this and he realised it now. There are healthy obsessions and his is one of them. To make the journey without falling deeply in love filled with a healthy obsession, you haven't lived a life at all. You have to try, because if you haven't tried, then you haven't lived.

For him, it started as an admiration, a sense of attraction which turned into an obsessive compulsion, but he didn't discover his intense love which he had for her all these years that was entirely conquered by his positive obsession. For her, it started as a friendship, yet grown into a beautiful bond of love which she yearned to cherish forever.

Fate might have broken them apart, but here! the God played his game by bonding them in another way. They found each other and realised why they were here together. It might have taken some time to happen but now, they have their entire lifetime to explore. 

And that's how they were bonded by it. His darkness and Her promise.
