Chapter 15: Devil Horns
Flashes of memories that Klaus had buried a long time ago resurfaced. As if a storm disrupted the calm waves and hurled the bottom of the sea to the shore for everyone to see its impurities. But through the darkness, new memories haunted Klaus's slumber. Moments of time that were more painful than what he'd been through; more painful than his father's words or fists.
Crawling through Klaus's mind were the memories of when his mate was bleeding in his arms from bullets. That single memory wiped out the years of torture inflicted on Klaus from his father. Everything seemed feeble to Klaus, and nothing drained the blood from his body more than when he saw King hurt. Only the blood that spilled from his mate mattered to Klaus and he'd see that nothing hurt him again.
With a sudden jolt, Klaus's eyes snapped open. He winced once he had, because his body ached from every single muscle, bone or ligament. His back had never been so sore and his hips were tight; this was worse than the time Hunter decided to teach Klaus self-defence, and Klaus still remembered those horrendous days. So, for him to feel worse than that time, he knew his body had been pushed to its furthest limit.
In the dark bedroom, Klaus looked up to the coved black ceiling with the black chandelier, that was turned off. It was quiet in the room and only his ragged breath could be heard as he laid immobile, like a truck held him down with its weight.
A couple of days had gone by since Klaus had completed the mating with King, which was not planned or expected at all from Klaus, it was all King's idea. Klaus pushed his hair from his eyes and got up, as he looked to his side where King was asleep. Since they hadn't slept all night, Klaus knew that King was dead to the world right now.
Klaus's tired eyes went straight to the balcony where slivers of light peeked through and creased onto the bed and floor. He realized that it should be close to noon by now and he needed to return to the pack. Today was not only their annual Halloween bash, but Hailey's baby shower and King's birthday. However, Klaus wasn't going to force King to celebrate his birthday with the entire family.
These last couple of days that Klaus has spent with King, he realized that King was still very new to sharing his feelings with more than just Bone. So, Klaus was going to have to do something different than the usual Centauri birthday celebrations for King. Once Klaus knew that King was comfortable then he'd celebrate his future birthdays with the family.
Pushing aside the thoughts of his horrid dreams, plans and feelings that sunk into his heart, Klaus got out of bed. He went straight to the shower, that he'd gotten really familiar with, to get himself cleaned up after the long nights and days that King kept him occupied. Never before had Klaus ventured down the path of sexual exploration, in fact he could've cared less about it. Except with King, it was entirely different because he had a way of pulling Klaus out of his shell. These past couple of days, Klaus had done everything that he had never done with anyone. He had to admit to himself that he was glad that he hadn't slept with anyone, because it felt special to be with King and to be only with him from now on.
Klaus sauntered out of the shower after freshening up. A couple of days had passed since Klaus had stayed over and he had completed the mating with King. They hadn't left the house since then and most of their time was spent in the bedroom. That alone took quite the toll of Klaus's body and he felt as if concrete replaced his limbs. He wondered how his family was doing these few days, he knew that they wouldn't worry over him because he had called to let them know where he'd been this whole time.
Klaus stood in front of the foggy mirror, he swept his hand across and he appeared dripping wet from the shower. His body may have been wet but what startled Klaus was the bright marks on his skin and all over his torso. He turned his back and more marks revealed, he gaped at the nails raked across the span of his back marking his skin thoroughly. He looked back at King who was calmly asleep after he had completed his task to possess every part of Klaus, like there was no tomorrow for them.
Klaus returned to the room where King was still asleep. King was flat on his stomach and sprawled across the bed with no care that they've been in the room all day. They hadn't gotten much sleep regardless, so Klaus understood why King was dead to the world right now. King didn't hold back at all the moment they had arrived to the house, which lead to Klaus pondering how much or how long King had been restraining himself from the night they met.
Klaus moved to the balcony and opened the curtains to let in some light, which didn't sit well with King. The man groaned at the light and turned his head away and then went back to sleep.
Klaus ignored his mate's grumbling mood and opened the glass doors, which led out to the sunny fields and cold breeze that wasn't too unbearable. The breeze swept over Klaus and travelled into the room filling it with a strong aroma of pine, crisp golden leaves and warm sunlight. He was sure that by nightfall, this weather would turn bitter and cold, so dressing warm would be a good idea. Klaus knew that because he had gone on many runs at night with King, which were definitely some fond memories they shared together.
Klaus quickly returned to the room and got dressed. He looked at the time which pointed at an hour past noon, so he knew that he was tight on time. He had to get back to the pack territory as quickly as he could because the Halloween party was tonight and their friends from other packs were coming tonight as well. It was going to get hectic and Klaus needed to organize it all with his family.
But first, the toughest mission of all was right here and now. Klaus dreaded waking up King, trying to get him dressed and out the door within a matter of ten minutes. Klaus looked at his mate on the bed, and he was about to give up, but he couldn't. So, summoning some resolve he went over to his stubborn mate.
"King, you need to wake up," Klaus said, but of course, no answer.
Klaus didn't bother wasting time by using his voice. He crept onto the bed and climbed over King straddling his waist. Klaus gazed down his mate's broad back and Klaus's eyes trailed over King's tattooed nape. The pair of dark wings were angelic in the way they contracted against King's bronzed skin.
Even from taking a shower and opening the balcony doors, Klaus could still smell the strong pheromones emitting from King and himself. Remembering their nights together, Klaus's heart skipped a beat and he smiled at King.
Klaus bowed down and laid his lips on King's nape, right over the angel wings that mesmerized Klaus. There was something dangerously erotic about a man like King having a tattoo so pure and hopeful, he thought.
"Taking advantage of me while I'm asleep," King's voice surprised Klaus to move back up. "It's fine, you can ravish me all you want. I won't stop you." King's lips lifted into a small grin. He turned from being on his stomach onto his back, still underneath Klaus and between his legs.
Although, Klaus knew that King was strong enough to get himself freed from under Klaus, except he hadn't. He laid back; a grin playing on his lips, his hair ruffled and his sapphire gaze blazing intensely under the sun, like the waves of an ocean crashing and soaring high above the horizon.
"Why is it that every time I wake up, you're dressed again," said King. "Haven't you learned that I'm just going to take it all off again."
Klaus crossed his arms. "I like making it difficult for you," he mumbled.
King laughed. "It's not difficult at all," he said. "As much as I prefer you naked, I find it pleasurable stripping you of everything."
Klaus was about to move back when his hand was caught. He knew that if he stayed anywhere near King, the turn of events for them would get heated and Klaus's plan to get King out of bed would be tossed out the window. Klaus had no control over himself the moment King enticed him, and right now, King's eyes were clearly showing that his next plan of action was to attack Klaus.
Klaus took a deep breath and used his voice of reasoning. "We have to get back to the pack today," he said. "The Halloween party is today and it's Hailey's baby shower so other packs will be joining us." King lifted his back off the bed, which closed the space between them. "Wow, you woke up pretty fast," amazed Klaus.
King's face was inches away from Klaus's, but that was Klaus's fault for not getting off King's lap. "That's because I found something much more addicting than sleep," said King.
Klaus tilted his head. "What?" he asked.
King looked down amused, a smirk on his lips. "You." King pulled Klaus down for a heated kiss that drowned Klaus of all the memories from these past few days.
Klaus's hands splayed over King's bare chest as King drew him closer into his arms. This wasn't just some sweet kiss that ended after a simple peck on the lips. No, that was never how King kissed Klaus. Whenever they kissed, King set them both of fire with the desperate need to feel the bond between them. Klaus lips moved over King's and his tongue hurt from the force that King devoured him with. From the strong scent around them, Klaus knew that King's head was conjuring a plan to strip Klaus of his clothes, like he said earlier. But Klaus was late and he needed King to cooperate.
As much as he didn't want to stop, Klaus ripped his lips away from King, but that didn't stop King at all. King's lips trailed down Klaus's neck and instantly an erotic rush spiralled down his body. Klaus moaned the moment he sensed King's sharp teeth grazing the pulsing nerve, that told King how weak Klaus was against King's dominance.
"King," Klaus moaned trying to calm his mate. "We... need to-"
King's hands inched up Klaus's shirt just as his tongue soothed over the mark he left on Klaus's nape. Klaus raked his fingers through King's dark raven-black hair, that he loved the feel of under his hands. King's hand climbed up his shirt over the span of his back, the heated touch that was rough and gentle had almost blanked Klaus's mind, but he stayed firm.
"Weren't you saying something?" asked King with a low laugh, that brushed against Klaus's ear.
"King, you have to stop or-" Klaus's eyes rolled back when King's teeth grazed his ear. Klaus couldn't hold back his stifled moans, that he knew amused King so very much.
"I'll stop," whispered King. "On one condition."
Klaus laid his head on King's shoulder in defeat. "What is it?" he asked.
"Tell me you love me again," said King amused.
Klaus looked into King's eyes, his blue gaze gleamed cunningly. "You want me to say it again?" he said more than asked.
King smirked, he bent over and kissed the mark he left on Klaus's neck before he shifted up and bit Klaus's ear. "Just tell me you love me and I'll stop," he growled.
"I didn't tell you that just so you can take advantage of me," said Klaus.
King smiled as he kissed along Klaus's neck. "Better hurry...I'm getting impatient," he baited as his teeth grazed over the pulsing skin on Klaus's throat.
Klaus didn't know his left from right when King was kissing him. So, how the hell was he supposed to manage something as 'I love you' to the man, Klaus screamed in frustration in his head. King drew Klaus on top of him, Klaus straddled his hips. King pushed his hand through Klaus's shirt and his rough hands caressed Klaus's abdomen as Klaus's lips were devoured and consumed.
From this overwhelming stir that raged between both of them, Klaus wondered if it was even possible not to drown by this boundless bond. Klaus knew that words weren't enough to describe how he felt for King. This was the first time in Klaus's entire life that he ever let someone into his heart. No one had touched him the way King had; no one had dared to look at Klaus the way King had; no one could ever do what King had done to Klaus. Klaus had fallen in love; that's how simple it was yet still so phenomenal.
"Okay, okay," Klaus rested his forehead against King's preventing him from all movement. "I love you. Happy?"
King licked his lips. "Very," he smirked triumphantly.
"Now, can you please get dressed so we can go?" Klaus asked. King pecked Klaus's cheek. Klaus quickly got up and so did King. "Thank you and make sure to wear something red for tonight." King nodded and then moved into the shower.
Klaus smiled and finished getting dressed himself. He put on a coat, scarf and waited until King was done. Except later, Klaus thought it'd be better to wait downstairs and also with the hope that he'd find Bone, which he had, but Bone was outside plucking weeds from the rose bushes.
Just when Klaus was about to make his way outside, King had arrived looking refreshed and ready. He descended the stairs dressed casually in black jeans with a rugged black denim jacket over his silky ruby-red buttoned-up shirt, that wasn't fastened to the top. Klaus noted that King never liked to button up anything to the top. The tattoos that surrounded his corded neck, which popped against the red of his shirt; his clavicles and the top of his robust chest were always exposed.
"Aren't you going to get cold in that?" asked Klaus when King was close enough to hear him. King looked down at his outfit and shrugged a shoulder. "It's going to get cold at night," warned Klaus.
King raked a hand through his dark hair. "I have you to keep me warm, don't I?" he jested.
Klaus rolled his eyes. "Here," he unravelled the cashmere from around his neck and put the scarf over King. "Wear this," he said.
King smiled down at the scarf. He put his arms around Klaus whose heart had skipped a beat from King's pure smile. "It smells like you. Thank you."
"We should get Bone too," said Klaus. "I don't want him alone here."
King's smile grew. "Good idea," he said. "You get him and until I will grab something to eat because I'm starving. Do you want anything?" Klaus objected to any breakfast and King left towards the kitchen to fetch himself an apple or cookie or maybe both.
King went outside first, the cold air stinging his cheeks and ears. "Bone!" he called out.
Bone's head poked up. "Yes?"
Klaus got off the porch and rounded the house towards the bushes where Bone was perched with gardeners' gloves and an apron. "Happy Halloween," he beamed.
Bone looked at his roses confused and then he looked at Klaus slightly enchanted. "It's Halloween?" he mumbled. "I forgot about that-" his voice trailed off.
"My pack is holding a Halloween party, I want you to come with us," said Klaus.
Bone's blue eyes gleamed. "A party?" he asked. "You want me to come?"
"Yes," said Klaus. "Get cleaned up and let's go."
Bone stumbled onto his feet. "I'm not ready for this. It's too fast for me." Bone's face showed the concern that was storming in his head. "I haven't been out for a while. I don't do good around people."
Klaus shook his head. "You were fine when my five students came," he reminded.
"That was just five pups," said Bone. "You're talking about a whole pack."
Klaus put his hand on Bone's arm. "Who are just like me and you," he said.
"But what do I wear?" he groaned.
"Anything is fine, but make sure you have something red on," answered Klaus.
"Okay," Bone said but he didn't move.
"Now what's wrong?" asked Klaus.
"Maybe, you two should just go," he mumbled.
Klaus laughed and he saw King sauntered onto the porch with an apple slice and a cookie in his hand, just like Klaus had predicted. "Look, even King is all ready to go," said Klaus.
Bone looked at King who was watching them with a relaxed expression. "Come on, Bone!" he shouted. "Are you going to keep us waiting all day?"
Bone smiled at him. "Just give me a minute," he said before he ran into the house to change.
"That was easy," believed Klaus was he made his way back to King.
King extending his hand with the treat grasped between his fingers. Klaus smiled down at the chocolate-chip cookie. "Eat," instructed King. Klaus didn't argue and he grabbed the treat to devour as King quietly ate the slice of apple. "How are you?" he asked with a frown.
Klaus looked up from the cookie. "Er- good. I guess," he said.
King put his hand on Klaus's nape and chill crawled down his body. "I meant your body," King asked tenderly.
"I'm fine," replied Klaus. King stepped closer towering over Klaus, his hand circled around his waist and he pressed down on his lower back, a sharp ache jolted down Klaus's legs that it pained terribly. He winced and moved back gaping back at King.
King's frowned and his blue eyes showed his concern. "Thought so," he remarked. "Be careful today. Your body is still new to this."
"Yeah, I will," said Klaus earning a sweet kiss from King that tasted of an apple.
Bone rushed out once Klaus had finished his cookie. "I'm ready. Let's go," he said as he tried to catch his breath. Bone's casual outfit was still very structured; he chose to keep on a clean-cut black suit, only this time he ditched vest and replaced the black tie with a printed red one.
"Alright, let's go," said Klaus. The three of them went to the car to get to the pack territory.
As Bone drove them to the pack territory, Klaus was glad both of them were with him this time. He wanted King and Bone to open their lives to meeting new people and have a life, that wasn't filled of their past. He knew that their past in those cage fights haunted both of them and Klaus hated it. He desired to fill King and Bone with new memories and experiences. So, to start this transformation off, a good night celebrating Halloween and a baby shower would be the way to go.
They arrived at the pack territory and when the gates opened, the entire road appeared ahead of their car. The singular path was decorated with golden lanterns, that was in a zigzag pattern above them. The path was lined with tons of impressive jack-o-lanterns leading them towards the pack cabins and deep into the area where everyone was hard at work.
"Your pack has been busy," remarked King from the back seat.
Klaus smiled proudly. "We take Halloween very seriously," he delighted.
Bone parked the car outside the manor, which was decorated too. Klaus nodded his approval and was sure that Hailey made sure the inside of the house was done correctly too.
Klaus got out of the car, he looked around the busy fields where tables were being set-up, lights being hung and pumpkins sat on every porch in front of every cabin. Each cabin had been decorated to one's liking, and the ones that weren't were being decorated right now. All the kids crowded the fields, they were getting dressed in their costumes or helping the teachers from the Institute to get the night prepared.
"Klaus! you're finally here," exclaimed Hailey who appeared frantic. "They are driving me insane!" Hailey gaped when she saw that Klaus wasn't alone. "Er- sorry. Hi, guys." King and Bone both smiled at her and felt a bit caught off guard by her sudden panicked entrance, when she was usually so composed.
"The house is decorated nicely, Hailey," Klaus praised.
"Don't even remind me," Hailey groaned at the mention of the porch decorations. "Your brothers are driving me insane, Klaus."
Klaus laughed because he understood perfectly what Hailey meant. "Why don't we head inside," he took Hailey and ushered King and Bone inside too.
They all arrived to the rowdy house, that was packed with his family and pack members. The living-room, which had to be cleared out of all the furniture was definitely not done yet; the kitchen was a mess and everyone was lounging around like they didn't have a party to host.
"I leave for two days," announced Klaus, "and it's already a mess."
Everyone lifted their heads and gaped at Klaus. "You're back," cried Viola, she ran over and hugged him. "Kill them for me. I didn't know we were all this crazy."
Klaus laughed and patted his sister's back. "Why aren't any of you dressed yet?" he asked his pack.
Vincent appeared holding his phone. "We all tried to get ready, but then we got in each other's way and then that lead to us all fighting," Vincent explained.
"And we couldn't find any of the decorations," added Hunter.
"The decorations are always in the storage room," reminded Klaus, and all of them shared an unimpressed, blank expression and slumped back on the couches in defeat.
"Okay, all of you need to get moving if we're going to finish this in the next hour or two," he instructed.
Klaus ushered his siblings off the couches. And now, the hectic afternoon had flipped back into the typical day when Klaus had arrived and took charge. Orders left and right given by him had the pack members running back and forth following his instructions.
The living-room was cleared; kitchen was thoroughly cleaned and the party-favours were all out from the storage room. Klaus pulled out the boxes and King was right there helping him take them to the living-room to decorate the room for the baby shower. Klaus asked of Bone's whereabouts and Hunter told him that Bone was helping Hailey in the kitchen. Bone proved to be quite the partner and Klaus checked on him every few moments to make sure he was comfortable, but he knew that Viola and Hailey would take care of the stiff but undeniably shy butler.
"Where do these go?" Hunter asked, as he held up the reel of small ghost lantern-lights.
"In the hall," announced Klaus. "Hang them with this-" he tossed tape and small silver pins to Hunter who caught both. "River! Help him, please."
"You got it, Klaus," said Ryder from his own task of blowing helium in the balloons. He moved from his station, and he ushered River who was lazily reading a book near the kitchen table and eating the cupcakes Hailey was baking.
"Where do you want this?" King asked as he held the last box of balloons.
Klaus looked back. "Take it to the living room," said Klaus as he was scuffling through the storage room. He grabbed the remaining boxes of flowers and confetti.
"Here, let me," Gabriel appeared and grabbed the boxes. Azura and Lupin were quick to move and help too. They all grabbed the boxes from Klaus, leaving him empty-handed and they moved to the spacious living-room.
"When are the other packs arriving?" Klaus asked.
"In an hour or so," answered Gabriel as he helped Sabrina decorate the large wall with black roses and purple, red and orange balloons of various sizes.
"That should give us enough time to finish the food," believed Klaus. He went to the kitchen and as always Hailey was faster than everyone. The large island was loaded with treats of all Halloween themed. Cupcakes that were purple, black and orange and some were bright red. Mountains of candy filled large glass bowls and all sorts of scrumptious chocolates decorated the pastries.
"These look great, Hailey," said Klaus as he grabbed a ghost shaped macaroon and tasted the marshmallow flavour mixed with his favourite white chocolate.
"I've been working all day," said Hailey as she dusted her apron, that was thoroughly stained with icing and food colouring.
Bone helped Hailey decorate the rest of the cupcakes and he was a quick learner for someone who had never done it before. As Viola ate a pumpkin shaped cookie, she helped make large jugs of iced-tea and fruit-punch. Everything seemed in order, and finally the house was ready to host a party.
Klaus moved back into the living-room, he noticed that no one had covered the large windows with fairy-lights and got to doing it himself. He fetched the spare ladder from the garage, also some pins from the box to complete the task. Everyone around him had completed their tasks and the house was complete in record time. Gabriel, Azura and Lupin had finished decorating the wall with roses and balloons.
"All of you should head up to your rooms now," said Klaus as he climbed up the ladder and eyed the clock. "Finish up the rest once you're dressed."
His pack didn't argue with him and made it up to their rooms or cabins to get dressed for the night. Bone was completing the icing and King was next to him, clearly commenting about it and obviously it was something sarcastic because Bone glowered at King. They bickered back and forth about the icing design or maybe it was the colour that Bone chose. Klaus was just glad that those two were enjoying themselves, because they deserved that much.
Klaus got back to putting up the lights against the windows. From his high view, he saw that the sun had fallen down close to the horizon and the lanterns around the field gleamed brightly; it was truly a magnificent sight. Klaus even had an idea to hook up the projector to watch a movie after the barbecue. Maybe, he could hook it up outside and the whole pack could watch it together.
"How are you feeling?" Klaus looked to his side where his brother Vincent had appeared. He looked like the devil itself in a dark red suit, which was the theme for tonight's festivities. His blond hair raked back away from his hazel eyes. Klaus always thought that red looked great on his brother.
"I'm fine," said Klaus.
Vincent tucked his hands in his pockets and he smiled. "You sealed the mating with King," he stated more than asked of Klaus.
A blush crept up Klaus's cheeks. "Yeah, I did," he went to continue his work so Vincent wouldn't see his flushed cheeks.
"So, did you always know that you were into men?" Vincent suddenly asked.
Klaus looked down from the ladder. "Huh?" he frowned and didn't understand the look in his brother's eyes.
Vincent leaned back against the wall. "I mean, you never dated anyone, never went to any clubs for any flings," he crossed him arms. "So, how'd you know?"
"You're right," agreed Klaus. "I'm not sure. Does it really matter though?"
"Of course, it does," said Vincent. "How did you know that King was the one you felt any sort of attraction for when you never cared before?"
Klaus never thought about it. "You already know that I don't care a lot for sexual needs, Vince," said Klaus. "Never saw the importance for it either. But it's special with King."
"And that convinced you to change?" asked Vincent.
Klaus took a seat on the ladder and faced his brother. "Where's this coming from?" he asked.
"I just don't get it," acclaimed Vincent. "How can a mate just change you like that?"
"Have you seen Hunter and Gabriel," Klaus remarked. "They're practically different men now."
"I know, and trust me, I love our sister-in-law's," Vincent drew in a deep breath, "but still, I just don't see myself finding a person, building bond and then that's it."
"Yeah, that's how I felt too," said Klaus. "I never thought I'd even find a mate. But, here I am with King Vitiello who is known for his ruthless reputation."
Vincent chuckled. "You've got it tough, brother," he said.
Klaus laughed too. "The reason I never dated or looked for a partner was because I never wanted one," said Klaus. "But without even knowing, I built a bond with King."
"It was more like King didn't let you leave," argued Vincent.
Klaus smiled fondly. "That too," he said. "But that is beside the point I was trying to make. My point was that it's not in your control. When the person you need comes into your life, you can't turn away." Klaus's eyes found King who was helping Sabrina with the knife to cut through the head of a pumpkin. "Your mate sees you like no one ever will."
"You two share a beautiful bond," said Vincent warmly.
Klaus's heart throbbed. "It's all him," he whispered. "King managed to keep it together for both of us."
Vincent grinned. "Can you blame him?" he jested. "Klaus, you are indeed an irresistible man."
Klaus blushed harder. "Er- I wouldn't say that," he muttered.
Vincent put his hand on Klaus's knee. "You are," he smiled. "Always have been." He walked away when the other pack members arrived, also dressed in accents of red to join the party.
Klaus wondered what had happened to Vincent. He looked troubled by something, which was unusual because Vincent never bothered himself with complicated thoughts or thorny feelings. He rarely got befuddled in things that were overly complex and he was always the one who had everything figured out. Klaus didn't push though, because when Vincent was ready, he'd tell everyone what he'd going through himself.
Hunter and Hailey arrived together; they were looking like the perfect couple they were. Hunter wore a black suit but his silk shirt was a blood red and the collar spread open. His dark hair cleaned and set back away from his face, which was always a striking look on him.
Hailey looked stunning herself in a bright red dress, that reached the floor and had a sweetheart neckline. Her flaming red hair was curled and framed her face; parted down in the middle, the heavy mass draped over her shoulders. She had a headband made from red-roses on her head and she looked happier than anyone could be. Klaus was glad that she was excited because she truly deserved all the happiness the goddess blessed her with.
Gabriel and Sabrina appeared next looking like the power couple they were. They were both wearing red and no one looked better than Sabrina who wore a sequin red dress that was short and strapless. Gabriel ditched the jacket and had a silk red shirt on with black trousers, his hair tousled but he looked his usual dangerously handsome self.
Viola entered with a silk red dress, that reached her feet. "Remind me why we chose red again?" she asked. "I look terribly in red."
"It's my favourite colour," said Hailey.
Sabrina put her arm around Viola. "You look gorgeous," she reassured.
"The next time we do one of these make sure that I pick the colour," said Viola before she went to the kitchen with Hailey and Sabrina to get a drink.
Klaus climbed off the ladder once he was finished and assessed his handy work. Once he approved, he went into the rowdy kitchen too. Azura, Lupin, River had arrived and their hands went straight to the food. Sabrina had helped King as they both prepared the drinks for everyone. Hailey had commended Bone's fine work and asked him about his skills in the kitchen, which he was proud to share.
"Hey, look what I found," said Ryder as he joined everyone. His hand held a box with costumes. He abruptly pulled out fluffy white bunny ears and put them on the person closest to him, which was Bone. He put the headband over Bone's head and the butler gaped at him.
"Aww, how cute," jested Lupin making them laugh.
"The bunny butler," commented King grinning at Bone who had blushed terribly.
"Relax, we're just playing," said Vincent patting Bone's shoulder. "But you should keep them on, looks cute."
"What about these?" Azura grabbed something out of the box and put it over Klaus's head, which he didn't really know of what. But it got quite the reaction from the crowd.
King choked on his drink. "Are you okay?" Sabrina asked as she patted King's back.
Klaus was too slow to see what Azura had plopped onto his head. "What is it?" he asked as his family chuckled at his appearance.
"Those are the exact opposite of you, Klaus," commented Hailey.
Sabrina laughed with King and so did everyone else. Klaus wondered what he had on his head, he lifted his hands and felt around the top of his head, when he felt two sharp teeth-like forms. Right away, he knew that devil horns were poking above his head.
"Very funny, Azura," Klaus remarked.
"Keep them on, Klaus," said Gabriel. "You need to have something red on."
Klaus agreed and left them on his head since he knew that he had to wear red tonight and was too lazy to change now.
As everyone drank fruit-punch and ate a cupcake, Klaus moved to clean up. Before he left though, he nabbed a mini-chocolate bar and then went off to the storage room to put the empty boxes away. He walked into the small room and didn't need to turn on the light because the red from the horns glowed brightly enough to light the way for him. Klaus put the bar of chocolate between his teeth as he slugged the box on the top shelf.
He turned to grab the other box when his path was blocked by a bulky figure, which he knew from the feel of the body under his hands and the scent of spiced sex that it was King. Klaus would've asked if something was wrong, but the chocolate in his mouth prohibited him from asking anything.
King's blue eyes gleamed under the dark red light that illuminated his handsome face. The red curved over the contours of his cheekbones, darkening over his hard jawline and then his straight nose. His sharp eyes scowled at Klaus and something carnal set deep inside Klaus's gut.
King closed the space between them and as Klaus inched back, they both hid inside the four walls where no one outside the door could see them. King suddenly lowered and bit the other end of the chocolate in Klaus's mouth making his heart do a flip. The chocolate melted from King's warm breath and Klaus's knees slackened from the sensual air in his mate's sapphire eyes, that appeared black in the dark.
"I thought you didn't like sweets," muttered Klaus.
"I don't," King's eyes drank the sight of Klaus's lips, "but chocolate coated on your lips was too enticing to resist."
Klaus hadn't seen it coming when King pushed Klaus against the wall, his lips crushed over Klaus's lips and their heated kiss melted the chocolate between them.
"Devil horns actually suit you," King moaned against Klaus's lips, as his hands inched up Klaus's shirt. "You really are the devil for being this tempting." King kissed down Klaus's neck, his lips grazed the erratic pulse and the mark he had left this morning.
"King," moaned Klaus as he tried his hardest to stay in control from his reaction to King's seduction. King's lips nor his hands had stopped their brutal assault. The devil horns would suit King more, Klaus thought as his hands tangled into King's hair drawing him closer.
Klaus didn't know what came over him, but whenever he was near King, his compulsions grew like wildfire and he had no control over himself. Klaus drew King's lips back to him and he kissed him with a dangerous longingly, like he hadn't been with King for days already, but it seemed it was not nearly enough. It was true what Klaus had told Vincent about his past; he never cared before about dating or sexual needs, but now it seemed that all he could think about was what he felt when he was near King.
King pulled away and they both took a long moment to catch their breath. "This is going to be a long night," he groaned.
Klaus laughed at him. He tenderly kissed King's cheek and then his lips. "You'll be fine," he said. "Make some new friends and enjoy some cupcakes."
"I rather enjoy you," mumbled King as he kissed his mark on Klaus's neck, which tickled. "I would love to fuck you with those horns on." Klaus gaped at King. He couldn't believe that King had just said that so casually. "Don't take them off," said King. "I like them on you." He smirked, and with the red light shining on his face, he appeared devilish even without the horns.
Klaus squirmed out of King's arms and got back to finishing his task he had come to do. They put the boxes away and joined the family in the kitchen. The front door was wide open, allowing the cold breeze inside along with the rowdy pack voices.
"They're all coming soon," said Gabriel as he looked up from his phone. "Isaiah just texted, so did Zach and Alec."
"This house is about to get pretty loud," mumbled Klaus.
"Louder than this?" astounded King.
Klaus laughed. "You have no idea," he said. "Better prepare yourself."
The family moved outside as the ladies stayed back to prepare for the baby shower, but the men weren't allowed to join for this event. So, everyone moved outside to the benches to enjoy the food and the company. They helped the kids around the pack to find some good candy and playful tricks to entertain themselves for the night.
This night had just begun when the sun set, and the orange pumpkins grinned mischievously around the darkness of the spooky forest trees and cabins. Ghosts danced with the wind and every scarecrow made each child weary with its presence. Music played through the speakers around the field and the voices of all the pack members were muffled but joyful from excitement. Halloween did that to anyone, Klaus thought, as he took a seat with King next to him to enjoy the view of the busy kids running to gather as much candy as they could. Klaus was glad that everything turned out well and everyone would enjoy themselves, because that's what mattered in the end.
