57 - Tragedy Diwali!

Now here comes the difficult part!

Mission Convincing-Dev!

-----------------------------

Sona's POV

I sat down with a long face. I knew this time, it was my fault and I had to apologize to Dev. He was being such a sweetheart and I had behaved like a stubborn kid. I slowly walked to the dressing table and adjusted my saree. The saree was my only weapon now!

I walked towards his study room and looked around carefully. That was the room, he spent most of his time at. He loved the atmosphere there as he always told me that it gave him peace. It was designed in full white giving a sense of peace and tranquillity.

Once I reached the room, I saw Dev sitting on the study table with a few papers. I always remembered the great advice from Pooja. Never disturb a working man! But now, all my thoughts were on convincing him and bring him back to bed. I can't ignore the fact that I was still afraid to sleep alone in that house.

Taking baby steps, I walked towards his desk and stood infront of him. As his eyes met mine, but he sighed and turned back to face the papers again. What the hell?

I quickly grabbed his papers away from him and slammed them on the table. Without giving him a chance to speak, I accommodated myself on his lap and held his shoulders for support. I was expecting him to hold my waist but sadly, his hands just remained on their sides. Cruel...

"I am sorry..." I started but he clearly wasn't convinced.

"I am not in the mood to-"before he could finish I crashed my lips on his, shutting down his entire speech.

My fingers tangling in his long dark chocolate hair, lightly pulling him into me, adding more pressure to our lips and deepening the kiss. But to my horror, I realized that he wasn't responding at all. God he wasn't even making the effort to kissing me back. His hands stayed firm as I saw him clenching his fists tightly. I cautiously removed my lips from his and mumbled silently.

"I am sorry....truly....extremely...Sorry....sorry" I said and placed numerous kisses along his jawline hoping that his anger melts. But everything I did today didn't have an impact on him.

I placed my hands on his chest and felt his heartbeat increasing. I knew I had an effect on him but it hurts when he doesn't reciprocate. I slowly grinded my hips on him while tracing my tongue on his lips, desperately seeking for entrance. It was really mean of him. I pulled back and looked at him. He still stayed silent. His eyes scanned me for a good five minutes, before I decided to break that silence.

"So, you are not going to forgive me?" I asked with a frown.

When he didn't reply, I felt disappointment wash over me. I gulped down the pain and slowly moved away from his lap when I felt his strong arms caging me around him. He pulled me harder against his chest and a small smile lingering on the corner of his lips.

"If I knew that being angry would bring me such benefits, then I would like to do this every single day." he whispered huskily before drawing his lips along mine.

"God... You are so mean. I was so worried you were still angry." I spoke still breathless as he chuckled.

"I didn't mean to hurt you, Dev." I spoke against his lips as he hummed softly. He hands moved inside my saree, exploring my bare skin.

"I know. I am sorry too. I think I over reacted a bit. But I just need you to trust me Sonakshi. Yes... It's hard now. But I promise you that those eyes of yours will never shed another tear because of me." he said genuinely causing me smile.

"I love you" I said pecking his cheeks. I nuzzled on his neck as he sighed.

"Ok now I have work to do... Get off me. You are getting heavier." he wriggled, being annoyed.

"Nah, I am good. You will be fine. You have married me, so deal with it." I replied, hugging him more tightly.

"Oh really?"

"Yes! And let me remind you again. You forgot something today." I trailed as he pulled away and looked at me.

"What?"

"You promised me that you would be showing me your practical skills tonight. Is that offer still on?" I asked as his eyes turned dark with desire.

"Hmm.... Is that why you are still wearing this saree for?" he asked and I remained silent.

He suddenly pulled me by my neck and bit my lips harshly, starting to devour me into pure bliss. He let me dominate the kiss and allowed entrance to his mouth. The kiss was so mind- relieving and passionate, causing me to moan into his mouth. He didn't release me till I was breathless.

He lifted me up effortlessly and placed me on his table. He slowly lifted my sarees up my legs, until my thighs were visible. Keeping constant eye-contact, he accommodated himself in between my legs.

When he was about to go further, we heard a loud knock on the door. Damn...not Nisha again... I thought to myself. Dev groaned in frustration before taking a few steps back.

When I adjusted my saree and opened the door, I saw my mother in law grinning at both of us.

"Arreey... Both of you are here? I was searching for you guys all over the place. Now listen, in two days it's Diwali and we are thinking of having a small celebration within the family. I need Sonakshi's help in cooking. And as for Dev, I need your help to do lots of shopping tomorrow. Is that ok?" she spoke as we nodded.

Finally, my first Diwali in my in-law's house!!!!

Once my mother in-law was done with her speech, she finally left the room after instructing us a long list of things to prepare.

When I closed the door, I saw Dev staring at me with his eye brows raised.

"Want to finish what we started?"

*End Of POV*

"Did she think that she could just dominate my son and house like that? It is not even a few days and my son is already talking to me like that. I wonder what would happen if she decides to stay forever." Ishwari fumed as she faced a terrified Radharani in the living room.

"No matter what happens, this time she has to face us. She will be forced to leave the house." Ishwari gave an evil smile as Radharani nod her head.

"Are you sure about this plan Ishwari?" Radharani asked.

"Yes Radharani....I am sure this time we will not fail! I was acting all these days like a nice person in front of Dev so that he would believe me. But now, I don't need that act as now Dev himself would start distancing himself from her!"

"Of course, Ishwari.... Who can be better in planning this than you huh? So, this Diwali is a memorable one for our dear Sonakshi!" she laughed as their laughter echoed the living area.

----------------------------

It was Diwali day and everyone were excited as usual. The Bose family were invited but due to Sonakshi's father's health, they politely refused the invitation.

Sonakshi was busy receiving the guests the whole day. She was not aware of what was happening around her. She cooked all the dishes she knew and laid them on the table. The highlight of the items was Dev's favourite halwa. She wanted Dev to be the first one to taste the food but he was too busy helping his mum with the decorations.

Jay was the first one to wish Sonakshi. Sonakshi found the Diwali in Dixit's house a bit boring compared to her parent's place. Nevertheless, she accepted the way they celebrated the event. She wasn't used to the heavy sarees and jewelleries. But she knew how much Dev loved those sarees and Ishwari had specially requested her to wear that saree on that day. So, she had no choice.

After all, she could do anything to please her husband and in laws.

Soon the house begun to light up as Jatin and Pooja made their entry with their kid. Sonakshi was so happy to see them. She welcomes them and served them with all the sweet dishes.

On the other hand, Ishwari tried to enter the kitchen and spoil all her cooking. But she couldn't finish her task as Dev or Jay were always loitering around the kitchen area. Radharani on the other hand tried to drug Sonakshi's juice. After successfully completing her mission, she came out with that glass of juice and sat down at the corner.

As everyone gathered at the living area, Radharani gave the drinks to everyone and specially saved the spiked juice for Sonakshi. When Sonakshi was about to take a sip, she was stopped by Dev.

"I am sorry Mami, but Sona hates orange juice." Dev spoke and Sona pouted.

"Nevermind Dev, I will have some..." Sona spoke and Radharani became happy again.

"No Sona beta! You don't have to force yourself." Jay spoke from behind while Neha came and gave another flavoured drink from her hands. This time both Ishwari and Radharani were annoyed.

Finally, it was evening time and guests were all leaving. Sonakshi was totally exhausted. She noticed that Ishwari and Radharani had totally pushed her all the housework to her. Instead of helping, they were royally resting on the sofa and chatting happily. Although she felt annoyed with them, she couldn't really do anything. She felt helpless.

Just as she was preparing the evening snacks, she felt a pair of arms wrapped around her from behind.

"Any help wifey?" he asked as he sucked her earlobes causing her to shiver on the spot.

"Dev.... Leave me na! Go stay outside." she hushed as his grip strengthened.

"How can I leave my gorgeous wife out here all alone?" he whispered as her palms touched his which were placed on her stomach.

"Mr Dixit-"

"Dev! Call me Dev because that's how everyone in my family calls me. I wouldn't like my wifey calling me Mr Dixit." He trailed.

"Oh really? I thought your family calls you something like.... Bablu....??" she giggled as Dev pulled away and looked at her wide eyed.

Just as they were talking Pooja entered the kitchen and saw Sonakshi giggling.

"May I know what the joke is so that I can laugh as well?" she asked and Dev frowned.

"Nothing Pooja, your friend as usual has gone mad! You know how she is na?" Dev muttered and Sonakshi slapped his arms away.

"Excuse me...It's not me! It's you who can't deal with me. Now stop peeping in the kitchen and go to the hall." she commanded to Dev firmly while Pooja stifled her laughter.

"Oh right. Bablu will deal with you tonight baby.......alone!" he whispered in her ears before leaving.

To mention that Sonakshi's face was red was an understatement. Who could understand his dirty words better than her?

"Hmmm... It's getting hot in here I guess?" Pooja winked as Sona just shooed her away. Pooja laughed at Sonakshi's state as it was the first time she had seen Sonakshi face flushed in embarrassment.

The evening went smoothly as Sona enjoyed the company of her friends. Jatin and Dev were having their usual banter, teasing Neha together. The food was served and everyone praised Sonakshi for her skills as the food tasted delicious. Sonakshi was feeling so ecstatic.

But little did she know that it wasn't going to last long...

As everyone finished their meal, everyone gathered at the living area again. In the meantime, Ishwari went to the kitchen and took some hot oil. She purposely poured the oil at the entrance of the kitchen and spread it around to make sure it was slippery. Since the tiles of the kitchen was made of marble, the texture of the oil wasn't obvious.

She made sure Dev, Jay or Neha weren't around and quickly finished her set up. Without delay, she placed everything back on place, and walked to the living area. Everyone were seated and were chatting happily. Sweat beads formed on Ishwari's forehead as she prayed that no one should enter the kitchen. Without wasting more time, she called Sonakshi through the crowd.

"Sonakshi beta! Could you do me a favour? Please get the matchsticks from the kitchen shelve. I would like to light up some lamps outside." She said in a casual tone and Sonakshi obediently nodded.

But when she got up, Neha also stood up and gestured that she would help Sonakshi. Getting alert, Radharani decided to butt in.

"Arey, Neha beta, why don't you help your mum? I will accompany Sonakshi?" she said and silently signalled Ishwari to stay calm.

As Sonakshi walked towards the kitchen, Radharani walked behind her quickly, not giving Sonakshi a chance to slow her speed. If Sonakshi stops, then Radharani would either push her on fall on her.

"Walk faster Sonakshi....Ishwari would be waiting for us!" Radharani pestered and Sonakshi stride faster to the kitchen. She had no clue why they were rushing for the matchsticks.

Once she stepped inside the kitchen, her feet slipped off immediately. Sona felt the move so uncalled for. It was so sudden that she didn't even have time to register what happened. Radharani stayed outside cautiously, knowing what was going to happen.

For a full half-minute Sonakshi went downwards at a speed that constricted her throat as she could hardly draw her breath. She fell. Fell hard that had her head landed on the hard tiles with a loud bang! She felt a sudden black-out.

She opened her eyes in shock as pain shot hard on her head. Her perception of time distorted and everything slowed down until there was nothing. Only the white ceiling above her head seemed to swallow her whole. The jewels on her neck pierced her skin, causing blood to ooze out from the side. Her hand reached out, asking help from Radharani. But Radharani was not even bothered about Sona's state. Everything was blurred for a moment. A blurred vision that swirled out of existence. Suspended in the air, she closed her eyes and let a soft scream of pain.

It was the deepest scream of agony.

"Devvvv..."
