Chapter One: The Museum
Chapter One: The Museum
Kai smirks as he doges another golden energy blast. Jumping out of the way of each one. The boy throwing said blasts is non other then the young Luka Keith Garmadon-Smith. Luka's sandy brown hair spiked up as if it were fire. "Good work son! Your doing fine!" Kai shouts to his fifteen year old son. "Thanks!" Says the younger male. "Time to come in!" Call's Lloyd's voice as the sandy blond male holds open the monastery door. Revealing the kitchen inside. Yup, Wu's old monastery was rebuilt, but better this time. The now two story building housed Wu, Misako, Lloyd, Kai, and their kids... Kyle, Luka, Kylie, and Luna. Kyle had blond hair, Luka sandy brown, Kylie had sandy blonde like Lloyd, and Luna had the same red tinted brown as Kai. Luna was the only child born to the couple who had no powers.
Kai and Luka head in from training. Luka walks by Lloyd. "What did ya cook?" He asks, hugging his biological 'mother' as well. "Just some chicken." Answers the blond. Kai pecks Lloyd's lips. "Great, I love your chicken." He says before grabbing Lloyd's waist and crashing their lips together. Both moan before pulling back. "But I love you even more." Says the fire ninja with a wink. Lloyd blushes. "Cool down hot head, I already have four grandchildren and quite frankly? I don't want anymore." Misako says from the table. "And I don't want you making them in the kitchen." Wu adds from his seat. Kai and Lloyd's faces become redder then any suit Kai ever wore. "Mooooooooooooooooooooom!" Lloyd shouts in embarrassment at the same time that Kai shouts out: "Sensei Wuuuuuuuuuu!"
The three kids that are at the table crack up at the expressions their parents wear. Kai grumbles about no privacy anywhere in the home under his breath as he sits. Lloyd scans the table, face still heated. "Where is Luna?" He asks.
(LUNA)
Luna sits at her bedroom window with earbuds in as she doodles in her sketch book. She takes a quick glance at the full moon visible from her window sill. She smiles before going back to her sketch. A knock sounds at her door, but it goes unanswered. "Luna! Are you in there?" The voice asks, but her music blocks it all out. "LUNA!" The voice calls, worried. The door then bursts open, revealing Kai. He notices her state and sighs. "Again? How many times do we have to tell her to stop doing this?" He asks the room before walking over to her. He taps her shoulder. "Luna..." He says. She blinks before looking up to him. "Yes?" She asks, taking a single earbud out. "It's time for dinner, come on. Everyone is waiting on you & Lloyd won't let anyone eat until your there." Kai explains, smiling at the end. Lloyd was always a little to determined to make sure everyone ate, but Kai loved him for it. "OK." She says before standing up. The two head out and sit at the table.
"LUNA SHADOW GARMADON-SMITH! HOW MANY TIMES HAVE I TOLD YOU THAT PHONES ARE NOT WELCOME AT THIS TABEL!?!?!?" Lloyd screams, absolutely pissed. Everyone else cringes. That was defiantly Lloyd's biggest pet peeve. Luna just looks at him, emotionless. She honestly never had any true reaction to anything in life. Even when she was an infant. "Sorry." She says completely dead-pan before taking her earbuds out and slipping them back in her pocket. Lloyd sighs like everyone else. No one knew what to do with her. She was always detached, emotionless, reactionless, and in her own little world, only smiling when she was sketching, drawing, painting, coloring or something else along those lines. No one knew what to do.
Kylie speaks up after a drawn out pause. "Ahem.... I made it on the cheerleading team." She says. Ah, yes. The times had changed since the day of the ninja battling evil. No more super powered threats, Spinjitzu was forgotten about, and the new eldest age for a minor was now 18. You no longer only went to school as a child, no, now most did not graduate from school till they were 17 or 18, seeing as they now had Elementary, Middle, and High School. "Great." Kai says with a supportive smile. "I'm on the football team, varsity." Kyle says. "Splendid." Comes Misako's reply. "I have a history report due in three days. I have to do it on the two battles against the overlord, but my teacher said I couldn't just ask you guys questions. I have to do my research the same way as everyone else." Luka adds. Kai & Lloyd chuckle, oh how did this seem expected.
Luna hung her head. She honestly did feel emotion, she was just incapable of showing it. This made her feel left out of everything. She wanted to cry, and no tears would fall. She wanted to shout, and her voice came out monotone. She wanted to be so so excited she'd be bouncing off the wall, and her demeanor became stone cold. She knew she loved her family, but she never actually felt the effects of such emotion. She knew what she was feeling constantly, but at the same time never actually felt her emotions, if that makes any sense. Her pictures, however, held so much depth & emotion it was unreal. She listened to the others talk as she silently ate, zoning out into her own thoughts and only catching bits of conversation. "L-na." She heard and knew it was her name. "Huh?" She asks as she lifts her head up, an expression that almost looked dazed & tired, but her family knew otherwise. "I said that we should go on a family trip to the museum. Luka can do his report there, me and your father honestly want to take a stroll through the hall of villainy, my mom wants to speak with the director since he's an old friend she hasn't seen him in years, Wu just plain wants to get out, Kyle could gain from seeing the scrolls about the fire element, and Kylie desperately wants to see the first blade Kai ever foraged that happens to be on display there." Lloyd explains. Luna looks around at everyone. "Go then." She says before eating her last bit of food and excusing herself.
"Go talk to her." Kai says to Lloyd. "Me? She responds to you more!" Counters the blond. "Because I actually take an effort to speak to her! Your so afraid of doing something to set her off that you won't even touch her!" Kai argues. "She's been diagnosed with sociopathic behaviors by a professional! And besides! There were plenty of kids at Darkly's just like her when I went there! I was constantly setting them off on accident just by looking at them! You don't know what they did to me Kai!" Lloyd snaps. "It doesn't mater! She's your daughter! You birthed her for peats sake! Now go tell her! It's simple anyways! Your just telling her that she's going to! Now stop making this so complicated!" Kai states angrily. He loved his husband, but sometimes the blond got on his last nerve.
Luna finishes with her dishes and goes to return to her room. She honestly just wanted to sleep. "Luna!" She hears Kai call. Some shuffling happens and next thing she knows, Lloyd is right in front of her. "Yes mother?" She asks. Lloyd gulps. "I had meant that you'll be going to the Museum as well. We'll head out once you and your siblings are back from school." Explains the green ninja. Luna nods her head in understanding, expecting her fate.
That very next day the family headed out. Once at the museum, Wu & Misako were disappointed to find that the former owner was now dead of his old age and his son had taken over. The male, about Kai & Lloyd's age, was pleased to meet them though.
"Now, I really must go and do some paperwork, but my son can give you a tour." The man says. "Aren't you, like, closed?" Kylie asks. "For your visit. I figured that our beloved ninja would want to enjoy the exhibits without reporters and fangirls chasing them down." He explains. The family nod their heads, well, except Luna who is zoned into her phone. The brunette is shuffling through her playlist, wondering what to play. "Dākumatā! Come here please!" He calls through the echoing halls. Dākumatā walks in soon after, looking just plain board.
(Dākumatā)
Dākumatā scans over the family before him. He is excited to see Lloyd in the group. The green ninja was an inspiration for those who were pure hearted but were born to at least one evil parent. He smiles. "L-Lloyd Garmadon! It's nice to meet you! Your an inspiration!" He says, brightening up fast. Lloyd rubs the back of his neck with a slight blush, a bit embarrassed. "Heh, thanks." He says. "Well then, Dākumatā, can you give this fine family a tour of the museum? I have some paperwork to get to." Says the owner. "Sure thing dad." He says, calming down and going back to his usual demeanor. After his father walks off, Dākumatā turns to the family. "Now, names. I already know Lloyd..." He shakes the green ninja's hand with a smile. "Kai, Sensei Wu, and of course Misako, the woman responsible for us having many of our exhibits." He says, shaking their hands respectively. "Well, did you know that me and Lloyd are married?" Kai asks, testing the younger male's knowledge. "No, I did not. Are these your kids then?" Dākumatā answers. "Yes, our biological children." Lloyd answers. Dākumatā looks absolutely puzzled. "What?" He asks. "As in, me and Lloyd are both the parents of each child, Lloyd being the mother." Kai answers. Dākumatā looks even more puzzled. "How...." He trails off, getting a headache from thinking about it. "You might not want to think about it to much, no one can figure it out, but the same thing happened with Jay & Cole after they married each other, Jay ended up pregnant with twins." Misako says.
Dākumatā shakes his head, deciding to take the woman's advice and not think on it. He walks over to Kyle. "Well then, may I have your name?" Dākumatā asks the blond. "Kyle." Comes the bond's response. "And I'm Kylie!" Says the boy hungry girl that now gave Dākumatā a flirtatious look. Said male becomes rather uncomfortable. "Uh...." Is the only sound out of his mouth before Luka steps forward. "And I'm Luka." He says before nudging Luna. Luna looks up and locks eyes with Dākumatā. An instant wave of attraction washes over the purple eyed lad, but it wasn't all his own feelings. Dākumatā had empathic powers & was also experiencing Luna's emotions alongside his own, making the feelings two times as strong in him since both were experiencing the same thing, though Luna felt no effect from her feelings, leaving Dākumatā the only one blushing. "A-and you are..." He says, trailing off. Luna puts her phone and ear buds away. "Luna." She says, shaking his out stretched hand.
"Sorry about her. She has a condition that leaves her incapable of emotion so it leaves her rather detached." Lloyd explains. Dākumatā nods his head in understanding, knowing there had to be something else going on, but what? He leads the family down the halls, showing off each exhibit. Luna walked closes to him, analyzing everything he did. She was curious about the pull she had towards him. She'd never been pulled to anyone before, so this was new. Dākumatā never stopped blushing. He felt as if she were silently judging everything he did. The girl watched as he tensed all of a sudden. "This is the last hall. The hall of villainy. You may enter and look around, but I will not be entering with you. This is as far as I am willing to go, I apologize." He says, his voice sounding stony & cold, his demeanor was detached and aloof all of a sudden, and he seemed like he were about to break down. "Is there a reason why?" Kai asks. "Yes, but it's personal." Dākumatā says, keeping the same tone. Kai nods and the family goes in. After only a second, Luna goes back to the lad, the pull getting stronger
"Why are you out already?" He asks from the bench he sits on. She sits beside him. "Not much in there. I already know everything from father's stories." She answers. "Ah." He says in reply. "I sense more to your... 'Condition' then Lloyd says, you feel like explaining?" He asks her. He suddenly feels her nervousness. "I.... I have feelings, but.... It's hard to explain. I know their there, I know what they are.... I just don't actually feel them... it.... It's complicated." She explains in answer. Dākumatā tries to think about what she said, but when you have empathic powers, it's hard to imagine not feeling any emotions. They sit there in a nice and comfortable silence for a bit, both enjoying the others company. Dākumatā closes his eyes and leans against the wall behind him. Luna does the same, enjoying the only quiet moment she's ever had. The two relax and sigh in content. When a giant thud is heard Dākumatā jolts up and Luna stands up slowly. The two not even noticing how their hands are intertwined.
The two run into the hall, Dākumatā forgetting where he was. They see that Misako has dropped her bad, staring at one of the several plaques for the overlord. Everyone else has gathered around her to see what has her so shocked. Dākumatā & Luna race over as well. Misako just points to the text she was reading. As Dākumatā realizes what she was reading, he tenses and squeezes Luna's hand a bit, causing her to finally realize that their hands were laced together. She likes it, and her happiness is sensed by Dākumatā who looks to their hands and smiles. He looks to her as their eyes lock again.
Lloyd reads the plaque aloud. "The Overlord was thought to be defeated once and for all after Zane's sacrifice, but about ten years ago a child was found at the age of five who is believed to be his son. Dākumatā Akumu Overlord." He reads. Dākumatā takes Luna out of there emediatly, before anyone could even notice that they were even there. He releases her hand and sits on the bench, hyperventilating. The last museum owner, his 'grandfather' so to speak, had to add that... "Your the Overlord's son." She states. "Yup." He answers, letting his head hit the wall. She sits by him. "Cool." She says. He feels her nervousness, confusion, and longing hit him. He sighs. "Why don't you hate me like everyone else?" Asks. "I can't -" He cuts her off there. "I'm an empath. I can sense other's emotions. I sense your emotions. Not a single one is related to hate or actual fear." He says, looking her in the eye. "Then, what do you sense?" She asks him."Nervousness. Confusion. Longing. Attraction. Self hate. Depression. There's something you want to do right now, really badly, but you feel as if you shouldn't." He answers. "You get all that?" She asks. "Yeah. A persons true, unmasked, emotions reveal a lot about what's going on in their head." He explains. She nods in understanding. "What do you want to do?" He asks. "I want to-" She gets cut off when Kai storms into the room. He grabs Luna roughly and pulls her up, taking her away from Dākumatā. "Stay away from my daughter!" He yells at Dākumatā in rage. "You know." He says calmly. "Like hell we know! What the hell are you doing here?!" Kai shouts. Dākumatā is distressed, but he hides it well. "I work here." He answers calmly. "I mean in Ninjago." Kai says, narrowing his eyes. "I live here. I grew up here. I was born here." Dākumatā answers calmly again. "What makes you think you have the right?" Kai asks coldly. This question makes him flinch, sending his mind back to when he still lived with his mother.
"What makes you think you have the right to laugh boy?! You weren't even meant to exist!"
Her words echo in his mind. He shakes his head, clearing his thoughts. "Because I am nothing like my... Like him. I want to protect Ninjago. Mark is my father, not him. Mark raised me and gave me a home. My loyalty rests with him, not.... That sperm doner." He says, referring to the overlord with venom. Kai, however, doesn't believe him and drags Luna away. "I ever catch you with him again and you'll wish you were never born." He warns her. She stays silent, wishing she could go back to Dākumatā.
