Chapter 20: Tie the Knot
The Luciano manor was completely decorated for the two weddings tonight. Every corner had flowers and any banister had lights twinkling down shining their golden lights on the floors and walls. The house was bustling with music and caterers trying to ensure that the bar and the food was ready to go. Two massive tiered cakes had arrived too.
A gigantic white tent was put up on the field at the back of the house where the entire staff of the Underworld nightclub had already arrived to see their bosses get married. The hundreds of seats were occupied with a few remaining for the only friends that were invited tonight.
Angela glanced up at the full moon from the bedroom balcony and its glorious white form was glowing in the dark-blue sky. She took a deep breath but the nerves in her stomach hadn't settled at all. So much happened in the past two weeks and she wasn't talking about the fact that Trez arranged the wedding in such a short amount of time. But the fact that the Red Circle had attacked them and now there was no sign of them at all, it was like they weren't even real. They all imagined the attack and it was just a bad dream. But the memories of the night she ran into Trez's arms was too vivid to forget.
She reached for the pendant around her neck since her parents weren't here with her tonight. Opening the locket, a small photo on one side revealed itself. She saw their smiling faces up at her and she wished they could have walked her down the aisle. But she knew that they were with her in her heart and that's all that mattered. She had placed Trez's photo was on the other side of the pendant so she could carry him with her everywhere she went.
Angela stood by herself in front of a mirror with her wedding dress on already. With her friends help, she was able to finally choose a white satin gown that had a tight bodice and a full skirt that flowed beautifully. The gown was exquisite and she matched it to the same one that her mom had on during her mating night.
Suddenly, the door opened and Hazel appeared gorgeously adorned in a midnight-blue dress that hugged her curves and sparkled. Her blond hair had been curled to sit on her shoulder. She now lived in Angela and Sonya's old house, since no one occupied it anymore. And after her place had been trashed by the Red Circle thugs, she needed a fresh start and moved into the house just recently.
Hazel gasped. "You look stunning, Angela," she said as she hurried over and hugged her.
Angela held her friend taking comfort that she was here with them. "The dress feels amazing," she said.
Scar arrived inside the room with a huge box in her hands and Sonya following closely behind her. Scar who was already in a black suit was ready to go for the night, but Sonya still hadn't gotten dressed.
"Oh god, Angela!" Sonya gasped as she held her henna hands over her mouth. "You look beautiful!" She ran over and hugged her in her robe.
"You're supposed to be dressed as well, Sonya," Angela said.
"We have the dress here," Scar said as she laid the box out on the bed.
"We'll have to hurry," Hazel urged.
"It's easy getting into a lengha for me," Sonya assured. "It was my makeup and hair that took forever." She went over and pulled the lid off the box and removed the parchment paper covering the traditional lengha that was made for Sonya only.
Angela couldn't believe that Sonya chose a white lengha despite all the colours there were to choose from at the boutique. But Sonya insisted that she match with Angela since they were walking down that aisle together. And Sonya bought another dress to change into after the ceremony which was a lot more colourful.
Hazel and Scar helped Sonya put on the skirt and Angela watched them make sure that Sonya's heels didn't cut through anything. Sonya was able to do the rest by zipping up the skirt to the middle of her waist where there was the tattoo. Angela moved the box out of the way as Sonya slid her arms into the blouse and Scar tied the strings on the back into a perfect corset ending it with a bow.
"There," Scar said. "All done."
Sonya turned for them letting the sparkly white skirt spin around her legs. "It's beautiful," she said.
"You look amazing, Sonya," Hazel said as she held the long dupatta in her hands.
Angela always knew that her friend looked amazing in anything she put on. But tonight, she was radiating beauty and the glow of love was shining through her smile. Both of them were marrying the ones that they love more than life itself and it showed on their faces.
Sonya sat down on the chair in front of the mirror as she grabbed the layers of jewelry to put onto herself. She adorned her arms with bangles that had already been covered by henna the night before, it covered her entire arm up to her elbows and even her feet. Angela had a lot of fun watching the artist decorate Sonya yesterday, but they stayed up very late while it dried. Hazel and Scar also put some henna on. Sonya told them that there was a ritual practiced that the groom's name was written in the henna and he must find it. Angela wrote Trez's name on her ring finger with henna and she wasn't sure if he'd find it or not. Sonya hid Axe's name on her henna and it was impossible to find it within all the art. The girls even lost it a few times too, it was hilarious.
Angela glanced outside where the guests had already taken their seats and the ceremony was about to begin as soon as the moon peaked in the sky.
"We don't have much time left," Angela warned.
Sonya rushed putting her earring on. "I know, I know," she said. "Someone give me some champagne, I'm getting nervous." Hazel laughed as she poured the girl some alcohol to calm the nerves.
Angela wondered where Trez was right now. He must be in his bedroom since she was in the guest room with all the girls for the past few days. With all the planning and rituals for Sonya, they didn't have time to leave this room to go to sleep and sometimes, they'd just fall asleep on the ground without warning.
There was a knock on the door that interrupted all of them. Scar went and checked as she grabbed the parcel. She brought the bag and placed it on the table.
"What is it?" Angela asked.
"Roses," Scar said as she pulled two beautiful bouquets of white roses that were tied together with a bow.
"Who would send those?" Sonya asked.
"There's a note," Hazel grabbed the paper and read it. "It's from someone named Bone."
"Oh, Bone," Scar said. "He's a good friend of master Trez."
Angela remembered the name when they went to visit Bobby's restaurant and Trez had to meet his friends at the park. She knew that they were coming to the party because Trez told her. They must have arrived already then.
Sonya grabbed the bouquet and smelled the blooming flowers. "It's beautiful," she said as she gave one to Angela. "Are you ready?"
Angela took one of the bouquets in her hand. "I am," she smiled before she hugged her friend.
She never would have thought that her life would end up here. She met Sonya at the airport where both of them were looking for a new start to their life after losing everything they cherished. They linked arms then and now they linked arms again to begin this chapter towards the wish they both ached to achieve. A family. The family that they once lost but their goddess had blessed both girls once again.
"We should head downstairs," Scar advised as she checked the clock.
"Time to go," Angela whispered.
Sonya held her hand supportively. "Let's go get our men," she jested making her friend laugh as they left the room together.
Meanwhile...
Axe was dressed hours ago and he was waiting on his brother who was taking his sweet-ass-time. He was stood by the mirror as his brother fixed his tie. He kept asking if it looked okay and Axe answered again and again with the same answer, that it was fine and they needed to get going already.
Suddenly, the door opened and Wade sauntered inside with his brother Darius. Both of them dressed in black tuxedos were looking like twins but handsome ones.
"Look at you," Wade jested. "I am so proud of you two for overcoming your sad traumas and getting married."
"Seriously," Axe grumbled as he glanced at his brother.
Trez couldn't hear him as he fixed the collar of his shirt again.
"It's creased," Wade remarked.
"Where?" Trez panicked making Wade laugh.
Axe pinched the bridge of his nose. "I'm going insane," he muttered.
"No, seriously, where is it wrinkled?" Trez asked Wade.
"It was a joke, dude," Wade said.
"Darius, stop your brother before Trez kills him," Axe warned.
Darius had to grab Wade and take him to pour everyone champagne so he didn't get a bullet in his head tonight.
The door to room opened again and this time it was the cop that walked in dressed in a clean black suit and a flimsy black shirt that was left undone. His golden eyes were shining under the lights as if he had finally slept well at night and hadn't dealt with whatever haunted him.
"Reyes," Trez said.
Reyes came up to him and held his hand out. "Congratulations on the wedding to both of you," he said and smiled at them.
Trez took his hand. "You seem different," he observed.
Reyes shrugged a shoulder. "I don't feel any different," he said confused.
Wade threw his arm over the man's shoulders. "You clean up nice, cop," he praised. "Did you finally spend some money on yourself like I said."
Reyes rolled his eyes. "Get off me, you're heavy," he carped.
Axe didn't know what had changed the cop's stern disposition all of a sudden, but he must have worked something out for himself. His relaxed smile and bright eyes was enough to tell anyone that Reyes had a change of perspective lately. Perhaps, it was the fact that Zero took down the Red Circle in a single moment in front of him. He must have not been aware of how something like that could be done. And from what Axe heard through the grapevine, Reyes was now even working with Zero to get rid of the Red Circle completely. Axe just wondered how long Reyes was going to remain a cop now that he found another calling in life?
"Will Zero be coming tonight?" Axe asked his brother.
"I did invite her," Trez said.
Darius handed everyone glasses of champagne as Axe glanced outside at the moon wondering when it'd be time for them to go down to the alter. He was eagerly awaiting to see his mate, since she had stayed away from him these past few days. She explained that through the ceremonies that she had to complete that the groom wasn't allowed to be with her. Axe couldn't believe it and he was even more surprised when she slept in the guest room too with the other girls, so it was impossible for him to get to her. Now, it was fair to say that he was going to kill whoever stood in his way tonight. Sonya was going to walk down that aisle and meet him at the alter at midnight. He swore it.
"I fucking called it," King Vitiello appeared at the doorway with that smug expression that never faltered no matter what stood in his way. "I knew you boys were going to get married one day." He strolled into the room in a luxurious tuxedo, his black hair raked back showing his sapphire-blue eyes radiating with a wicked gleam. The man screamed power without a single word needed.
"Glad you could make it, King," Trez said.
"Are you kidding?" King grinned. "I wouldn't miss it for the world." Standing next to him was his mate, Klaus Centauri who was also nicely dressed for the occasion in his own black suit. He had golden blond hair that contrasted against King in so many ways. These two were polar opposites but fit in every way.
"Congratulations, you two," Klaus smiled at them. "Are you excited?"
"Very," Axe and Trez answered.
"Why are you lying?" King put his arm around Trez. "I can see how nervous you are."
"Can you?" Trez mumbled as he tugged at his tie. "I just want to see her." King laughed at him.
"King was the same when he married Klaus," Bone entered the room last as he shut the door behind him. He stood in a blue suit that brought out the colour of his eyes and the blond of his hair. The man held a kind smile that glowed through his fair complexion.
"I was," King admitted proudly before he smiled at Klaus. "But more than that, it was just pissing me off that the time was going so slow."
"You can say that again," Axe grumbled as he glanced at his watch.
There was a knock on the door and Wade went to open it, when the air in the room shifted and all of their eyes landed on the woman who saved their lives. Zero stood in a crimson red gown that fell to the floor and sparkled all around. She had left her black hair open and it sat straight down her back while her eyes carried the dominance of a mighty warrior.
"Well, you all look rather dashing tonight," she praised as she entered the room with her golden heels. Elijah was right behind her in his own suit and he looked unbearably uncomfortable in it. He looked more at ease when they were at that facility that the Red Circle harboured.
"Thank you for coming," Trez said.
Zero smiled. "I'm happy to be here," she said. "My mate couldn't make it because he's visiting London for the week. He sends his regards and well wishes."
"Thanks," Trez smiled as Wade gave them champagne.
"Much better meeting here than in a cage, right?" Elijah remarked as he smiled at them and held his hand out.
Axe and Trez took that hand and knew that they had a partner they could rely on for life in this man. He was loyal to Zero and showed courage when he protected Trez and the others. Axe was indebted to Elijah for saving his family.
"Am I late?" Alister Black appeared at the door this time.
"Nope, you're right on time," Trez said.
Alister filled the doorway as he held the command around him. He was powerful in a charcoal grey suit with a wool jacket over his shoulders. The man's arctic blue eyes shined darkly under the dim lights but they glowed when they landed on Bone who was trying not to turn around.
Axe wondered what the hell that was all about? But his curiosity was answered when Alister came closer and laid his hand on Bone's back, like he made it clear to whoever was in the room that the man was taken and claimed.
"Congratulations on the nuptials," Alister wished.
"Thanks," Trez said and so did Axe.
"From what I could tell, the ladies have already made their way downstairs," Alister informed.
Axe and Trez shared a look and they were ready to storm out of the room. Suddenly, Scar appeared at the door with a beaming smile on her face. Axe had never seen that expression on her but the girls all surrounded Scar and brought her out of her shell.
"Sonya and Angela are ready for you," she informed.
"King, can you officiate the wedding?" Trez asked.
"What?" King was surprised.
"We didn't pick anyone else," Trez said.
King chuckled. "What would you have done if I wasn't here?" he asked.
"I would have done it myself," Axe grumbled. He didn't care who was in front of him or behind him. He rushed out of the room and down the damn stairs to make it outside to the tent. The alter was all the way down the aisle and he stood at the top without hesitation.
King didn't need convincing and he came down the aisle with Trez as everyone else took their seats too. Klaus sat with Bone and Alister while Wade, Reyes and Darius sat with Scar and Hazel. Everyone was ready to go and Axe glanced at the long white carpet that was laid out in front of him. The doors that were adorned with flowers were still closed and he couldn't see his mate. He fisted his hands together and ached to feel her, see her and finally make her his mate for life under the full moon tonight.
While Axe waited patiently, Sonya was inside pacing around the hallway.
"Sonya, calm down," Angela said.
"I wasn't nervous before, but I suddenly feel it," she shared as her lengha sparkled under the lights. It was heavy to wear, but she wasn't even worried about that right now.
"Why are you nervous?" Angela asked.
"Do you see how many people are out there?" Sonya remarked. "We should have eloped like Axe said."
Angela laughed. "Stop freaking out," she gathered Sonya's hands in her own. "We're doing this together."
Sonya hugged her friend tightly. "I don't know what I would have done without you," she felt the prick of tears in her eyes.
"Don't cry," Angela warned, "we'll ruin our makeup."
Sonya let go and glanced outside the window where she saw Axe standing on the pedestal with his black tuxedo cut perfectly to match his rugged appearance. The moon shined along the hard lines of his face and his blue eyes shined all the way here. She lost her breath as she felt his bond through her body and she ached to see him. The nerves in her stomach were because of him and she hadn't seen him in a while. She wasn't even sure that she'd be able to complete the ritual tonight without messing it up.
However, suddenly, she felt this heat in her body like Axe reached out to her through the chaos. She could feel his strength that was powerfully unyielding and ready, like he was just waiting for her and he wouldn't leave that alter until she came.
Sonya glanced at her friend. "Together," she smiled.
Both of them linked arms like they once had done way back then when they met. Now, they did it again as they walked through the doors down the white aisle towards the ones that stole their hearts and made it their shrines.
Sonya stepped onto the podium and stared at Axe's eyes that had stayed on her from the moment they met at the club's alleyway.
"You're breathtaking," he whispered.
She couldn't help but smile as she forgot all about the hundreds of people around them and focused solely on him.
The ritual began and Axe's friend, King was the one to officiate the wedding. He didn't bother being formal and definitely cracked a joke here and there about Trez and Axe being complete idiots in love. But King's mate brought them the white ribbons and they were tied along Sonya's hand and onto Axe's hand as he held them both together. Sonya carefully recited the vows and so did Axe. Trez and Angela were doing the same beside them too.
However, before Axe could kiss her, she grabbed the little box from Scar and opened it for Axe. It held the mangalsutra and the sindoor for her.
Axe grabbed the beaded necklace in his hands and brought it around her neck. He clasped the two ends together and it hung down her neck. She signalled that the red powder just needed to be applied on the tip of her hairline near the top of her forehead. He pinched a little bit between his fingers and applied it on her head. Sonya drew in a breath and felt that dreams were nothing compared to the reality that she felt in this moment. She bonded herself to Axe and he had truly marked her as his wife for an eternity.
"Can I kiss you now?" he asked as he put his arm around her waist.
She laughed. "Yeah," she said.
Axe leaned in and kissed her with his heart and soul pouring through into her like she could feel it in her own body. "I love you, Sonya Luciano," he said and she hugged him tightly.
The wedding ended but the party just began...
The dance floor had opened up and so did the bar. All the employees were on the dance floor and had drinks in their hands. They even cut the cakes and everyone had a piece.
Sonya changed into a much more colourful dress for the party and she wore a lengha that mimicked peacock feathers all over the skirt and it was a deep blue that glimmered. She danced with Angela and Hazel as they all spent most of the night enjoying themselves. Dinner had been served and that was the only reason she got off the dance-floor. She ate her fill and that was when most of the guests started to leave for the night. All of Axe and Trez's friends were heading off too. Except, Wade, Reyes and Darius who were having a drinking game with Scar who could hold her liquor really well.
Sonya was sitting by her friends as she took off her heels from the ache that throbbed in her feet. She smiled down at her anklets that Age gave her and let them bells chime. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrapped around her. She turned and Axe was beside her, he was kneeling on his knee so he could match the height of her chair.
"Are you tired?" he asked.
"A little," she answered.
Axe took the hand that had the ring on her finger. "Do you want to leave?" He looked at her eyes with a twinkle of playfulness in his own gaze.
"Depends," she jested. "What will we do if we run away?"
"I was thinking of getting you on a plane with me so we could spend the next month alone," he revealed.
Sonya gaped at him. "Are you kidding?"
Axe rose to his feet and held his hand out to her. "Not at all," he said. "Let's go, wife."
Sonya took his hand. "But I didn't pack anything," she said.
"Scar handled it," Axe said. "And if you need anything else, I'll just buy it for you."
Well then, that was settled. The two of them said their goodbyes to their family and it was like everyone other than Angela knew about this plan.
"What do I do?" she asked Angela secretly.
Angela hugged her close. "Have fun," she said.
Sonya pulled back and glanced at her mate who stood with his brother. "You have fun too," she grinned at Angela then.
"I swear, what am I going to do without you for a whole month?" Angela held her friend's hand.
"I'm sure Trez will keep you busy," Sonya jested.
Angela smacked her arm playfully before Sonya went to Hazel. "I'll see you when I get back," she hugged her.
"I'm going to miss you," Hazel said. "Both of you, so much."
Scar came over to Sonya. "I had your suitcase prepared," she said.
"Thank you, Scar," Sonya said as she kissed her friend's cheek that had the scars. "I'll bring loads of gifts for everyone."
The girls parted and Sonya went to her mate's side.
"Ready?" Axe smiled to her.
"Have fun, you two," Trez said.
Sonya smiled at him. "Make sure you take care of Angela," she warned him. "If I hear any complaint you are dead meat."
"Actually, I was planning on taking her to Italy," Trez revealed then.
Sonya gasped. "That's perfect," she said.
"We should head out," Axe reminded.
She held her hand out to him that her bangles chimed together. Both of them left the house together and Axe drove them down to the airport. She had never seen this side of the airport before, but he went towards a secret street and ended up where all the planes were parked on the massive field. He stopped in front of a jet though, and since it was dark outside, she felt like a tiny little creature next to the huge monster.
Axe opened her door but he handed her his coat and put it over her shoulders, since she left the house without anything but her dress on. The employees of the plane got their stuff, so she didn't need to worry about it. She climbed up the steps and Axe lead her into the luxurious plane that was completely empty apart from the two of them.
"This is-" she was speechless because she'd never seen anything like this before.
Axe turned to the hostess behind them and ordered drinks and then told her not to disturb them in this part of the plane. Sonya took off the coat since it was warm enough in the plane and the door had been closed behind them.
"You haven't told me where we're going?" she asked as Axe sat down and Sonya took the seat beside him.
"I thought it was obvious," Axe said then. Sonya glanced out the dark window where the lights flashed by them. "India," Axe answered. "I want to see your home and where you were born."
Sonya felt her heart skip a thousand beats in that second and it wasn't because the plane had taken off into the air. "I love you," she hugged him.
He laughed. "I love you too," he kissed her again and again until she was practically sitting on his lap in the seat, which were massive that it fit both of them and her entire dress. "You should get into something comfortable, it's going to be a long flight."
She got up off his lap and he stood with her as he took her to the back of the plane and there was a bedroom with a washroom. Her luggage was already placed inside and some of her clothes had been hung in the closet. This was getting ridiculous, she thought to herself as she took her earrings off.
"Let me help," Axe whispered behind her.
Sonya moved her hair over her shoulder as his hands found the ribbons of the corset blouse. He pulled on the strings and it fell loose as he unravelled them apart. She took off her bangles and the necklace and then set them all on the table. Finally, she felt a bit of relief from all the weight coming off her. But as she felt the cool air touch her neck something warm replaced the air. Axe leaned in behind her and kissed her skin, setting it aflame as she felt his hands circle around her bare waist.
"I never thought we'd be spending our first night as a married couple on a private plane," she shared.
Axe smiled against her neck. "I was going to wait until we got to the house, but-" he turned her around and kissed her lips gently.
"House?" she questioned. Weren't they going to stay at a hotel? she thought.
"I wasn't going to take you some hotel," Axe answered. "I bought you a home."
"A home?" Sonya held her breath.
Axe nodded. "A home to call yours whenever you wish to go to India," he said.
Sonya stared at her husband's blue eyes and felt her heart that had been shattered as a child become whole again. She never had a real home in India being an orphan. Even when she lived at her adopted Grandma's house, it still wasn't hers to keep and call home. But Axe without even thinking what it meant to her gave her the gift she thought she wasn't worthy of ever having one day.
"Thank you," she felt the tears in her eyes fall down her cheeks.
Axe wiped her tears away before he gathered her in his arms and brought her towards the bed. He laid her down and she grabbed his tie tearing it off him as he unzipped her skirt and pulled it off her hips. The floor was covered in their clothes but they forgot all about it as they spent the hours in each other's arms. Axe even had to find his name in Sonya's henna and it took him a long time, until he spotted it near the peacock feather on her wrist.
Meanwhile, in another private jet...
Trez was watching his wife open the long length of her beautiful hair in front of the mirror. They were headed to Italy where both of them were born. Angela stood in a white dress that was short up to her thighs and beaded all over the corset, that flattered her curves perfectly. She had changed out of her wedding dress for the reception. However, the excitement that was on her beautiful face had vanished the moment the plane took off into the sky. He knew that she loved the idea of going to Italy, but something worried her and he didn't like not being able to help her.
"If you don't want to go, I can change the direction of the plane," Trez offered as he stood beside her.
Angela was pulling out clothes from her suitcase before she turned to him. "It's not that," she assured but then she sat down on the bed. "The last time I was on a plane, I was running away from home and the death of my parents. There was never a moment in my head that thought I'd be going back."
Trez closed the gap and stood over her as he put his hands on her face making her look up at him. "Italy has been the place of my birth but I've never loved it," he told her. "I thought it was cursed because my brother and I were all alone. But now, I'm going with you as my mate and the love of my life." Angela's hazel eyes saddened as tears rolled down her cheeks. His heart ached and he held onto her tears.
"I want to go there with you too," she confessed as she smiled up at him.
Trez felt his lips turn into a smile as he felt her warmth inside himself. "Good because I already planned everything," he jested making her laugh and he was happy to see her mood lifted. "And I want you all to myself where no one can bother us." He leaned onto the bed and laid her down. He couldn't hold back as the ache to taste his mate took over him. He kissed her neck and felt her curves through the dress, that he immediately needed to get off her.
She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Do you want to wait until we reach Italy?" she asked.
Trez stiffened. "You want to wait?" he astonished.
"I think we should," she said.
He would listen to her but something about the innocent gaze she had didn't convince him. "Honey, I'm about to rip this dress off you," he said. "if you don't want that then tell me now."
Angela laughed. "Get the dress off, Trez," she ordered.
Trez grabbed the zipper behind her and ripped it apart like he said he would. Angela protested that she loved the dress and couldn't believe he actually ripped it even though there was a working zipper. He couldn't hear anything the moment her body was exposed and she was naked under him with only an underwear on. With the promise to buy her a hundred more dressed, he hushed her protests with his lips and marked her body for the long hours that passed in a blink of an eye for them.
Everything was perfect for the Luciano family and it was only just beginning to grow.
