Chapter 19: Happy Halloween
Halloween was here and Angel's cafe was celebrating after everything that happened. Every part of the cafe was decorated to replicate an apothecary store mixed in with autumn festivities. Jack o' lanterns were at the entrance and they flickered with the flames inside their smiling mouths. Garlands were hung across the ceiling and witches' hats hung down everywhere with a bunch of flickering candles. Everyone had a blast hanging up all the decorations for today. And the efforts paid off because the cafe was bustling with customers. Scar and Hazel had to step in and lend a hand to Sonya and Angela, which was the perfect way to celebrate this spook-tacular day.
Sonya held a tray of freshly baked cookies that resembled bats in her hands. Dodging the door as she tried not to hit her wings, she made it to the front without dropping anything.
"Here are the cookies," she announced.
"Thank you," Hazel who was dressed like a vampire quickly grabbed the tray from her. She slid the glass door open and replenished the empty slot, since these cookies were selling out fast along with the ones that looked like ghosts.
Meanwhile, Angela was in the back baking away and making sure that everything was perfect. Scar was making coffee and other cold beverages for the customers, she didn't come with any costume on, so Sonya grabbed an extra witch hat and plopped it on the woman's head. She actually pulled it off with her silver hair and purple eyes and the black suit that added to the costume perfectly.
Sonya and Angela were obviously the angels of the cafe, so their feathery wings and white dresses were the perfect fit to match the store. Sonya adjusted the small wings behind her as she returned to Angela's side.
"Wearing white today was not a good idea," Angela said as she tried to get the orange icing off the bodice of the dress.
Sonya chuckled as she went over to help. She grabbed a wet cloth and wiped away a bit of the icing that got on her. "If we can get through today without any stains, that would be really spooky," she remarked.
Angela laughed. "It would be," she agreed.
After everything that happened with the Red Circle, Sonya was glad that Angela's mood had improved and so did everyone else's.
A week passed since the attack and everyone finally felt like things were getting back to normal for them. Sonya and Angela were able to re-open shop and they were back to work now, which felt like a relief. Being stuck in a house all day was not their cup of tea, especially since both of them had worked all their lives, it felt strange taking so much time off.
Axe and Trez were busy at the club after the attack too. They were setting up greater security measures to ensure that no one snuck into their club. The Luciano manor was being cleaned and renovated again, since it was destroyed with all the bullets and bodies.
So much happened, Sonya wasn't entirely sure if she processed it all yet. She still glanced over her shoulder when she was alone wondering if someone was sneaking up on her. Even now, she dreamed of the dungeon they were trapped in. Sonya hadn't told anyone, but she knew that Axe was worried for her. She tried to reassure him that she was fine but she didn't know how much time she was going to need, in order to forget the Red Circle's attack.
Sonya helped pipe the orange icing on the pumpkin sugar cookies as she glanced at the golden anklets around her feet. She couldn't help but smile at them. More than anything, she was grateful that she didn't lose them or get them stolen when she was captured. These were a gift from Axe and she'd rather die than give them up. But a part of her dreaded that she still held onto the mangalsutra. She was supposed to give it to Axe that night they were attacked and get him to put it on her. But after she came home and they were together, she couldn't find the moment to ask him.
Sonya still wished to give it to him so she could wear it in his name. She tried and tried but then a whole week passed and Halloween came along, so she gave up and waited for the moment to present itself.
She glanced up at Angela who had the engagement ring on her finger after Trez proposed to her the other day. She was happy for her friend and both of them even started planning the wedding too. She just wondered if Axe was ready for that step with her now?
"That is the tenth time you sighed," Angela remarked. "Can you tell me what's wrong?"
Sonya continued piping hoping her friend didn't see her solemn expression. "Nothing," she lied.
"Doesn't feel like nothing," Angela said. "What's wrong, Sonya?"
She looked up and met her friend's worried eyes. "I was going to propose to Axe," she told her.
"I know," Angela said. "I'm still waiting for when you do."
"But what if I'm rushing it?" Sonya said. "What if Axe wants to wait for his brother to get married first?"
"Sonya, Axe is madly in love with you and would probably plan your wedding himself if he knew that's what you wanted," she reassured.
Sonya smiled at her. "He would, wouldn't he?" she sighed.
"Tell him how you feel and let's plan both our weddings this year," Angela said cheerfully.
Sonya went around the table and hugged her best friend. "I love you," she said. "I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't met you at that airport."
Angela put her arms around her too. "I love you too," she laughed as they held each other. "And don't even think about imagining your life without me in it. I am with you until the end."
"You should warn Trez that I had you first," Sonya remarked as she pulled away.
Angela smiled. "He'll probably fight you for that," she said.
"I can take him," Sonya held up her arm like she was flexing her bicep making Angela laugh.
Hazel walked into the kitchen with empty trays. "We need more pumpkin cookies and our ghost cupcakes," she said.
"Coming right up," Angela said as she grabbed the tray of white frosting cupcakes that had little ghosts standing up on them. "I'll take it to the front. Why don't you take a little break, Hazel?"
"Are you sure?" Hazel said.
"Yeah, you've already done so much for us today," Angela said. "Put your feet up and take fifteen minutes off. Besides, Sonya's finishing off the cookies for me."
"Okay, thanks," Hazel slumped onto the stool and sighed. "Working here is a lot harder than at the boutique."
Sonya smiled over the cookies. "Already thinking of running away from us?" she said.
Hazel laughed. "I was considering it," she jested as she looked out at the busy cafe.
Everyone today was in costume, even their customers too, which was a lot of fun. And anyone that came here with a costume got a free cake-pop with their drink. Sonya glanced at Hazel who was sitting with a cloak over her Victorian black dress and bold dripping down her red lips. She had heavy eyeshadow on too.
"Are you okay?" Sonya asked since Hazel was also attacked at her house.
Hazel looked over at her again. "I'm fine," she admitted. "I just can't believe that Angela's getting married."
"I know," Sonya squealed as butterflies filled her stomach. "We're planning it and you've been a big help by taking her to all the shops here for a dress."
"It's been fun," Hazel's smile saddened. "But I don't think I'm going to come to the wedding."
Sonya gaped. "But why?" She put the piping bag down.
"I just don't want to make it awkward with everything going on between me and-" she looked down at her sharp black nails.
"I won't force you," Sonya said. "But you're our friend and Angela would want you there."
Hazel looked out the small window at Angela. "You guys are my friends too," she said. "But-"
"No buts!" Sonya intervened as she came around and hugged her friend. "You are coming to the wedding even if I have to kick Darius in the butt."
Hazel laughed. "I would love to see you do that," she voiced.
Sonya pulled away. "Does this have anything to do with what happened after he came to rescue you at your house?" she asked then.
Hazel sighed. "He's so confusing," she admitted. "First, he tells me that he doesn't want to mate me. And then, he bursts through my front door to save my life. He looked so concerned for me, I didn't know what to say to him."
"That's because he loves you but doesn't know how to admit it," Sonya told her.
Hazel groaned as she hung her head and the blonde curls fell over her shoulders. "He's driving me crazy," she carped.
"I know, honey," Sonya sympathized as she remembered her own man. "These men are like that."
Scar came to the kitchen as the cafe finally emptied out and they were all able to take a seat now. Angela made them all a cup of coffee too as they enjoyed a platter of pastries. They were chatting away about the wedding and what they could do about getting a flower arch. Ideas kept flowing, which was probably all the sugar they consumed with the caffeine too.
Eventually, it was around five o'clock that Sonya suggested they close up shop early and have a movie-night at home. But with all the extra pastries and cookies, Angela was quick to offer to take them to the Underworld nightclub and give it out to the staff, that was hard at work tonight too. Sonya and the ladies quickly packed it up in boxes and put them in the trunk of Scar's silver Porsche. Hazel went with Scar while Sonya and Angela drove together down to the bustling club.
The Underworld was extremely busy on Halloween since it was the day to celebrate the dead and party all night long. The streets were crammed with people in all various costumes, so Scar, Sonya, Hazel and Angela fit right in. The beaming light at the front gates showed them the long lines of people waiting to go inside. But Scar parked behind the club entrance for staff members and they all carried a box inside the doors. They walked straight down the hallway into the staff room where there were many of them on their break. Everyone welcomed the spooky treats and thanked the girls for the pastries and cookies. Angela held a small box for treats for Trez, Axe and Wade, Darius too.
Scar and Hazel stuck around in the staff room before Hazel too Scar to the bar to have some vampire cocktails while the girls went to meet their mates. Bronco and Cody were guarding the stairs to the upper level but they recognized Angela and Sonya right away. Plus, they gave them cupcakes to enjoy while waiting here all night. They went up the stairs and Sonya forgot how luxurious the club truly was from the last time they visited.
They walked down the long black halls that had chandeliers hanging over them. Angela knew that Trez's office was at the end of the corridor, so she knocked on the door before she poked her head inside. However, Sonya caught a glance inside and the room was definitely not empty. There were random men inside there with Trez.
"Er- sorry," Angela tried to shut the door but Trez was the one who caught it and came out to them. "I didn't know you were busy."
Trez kissed her. "It's fine," he turned back and looked at the men sitting around the room. "We'll finish this tomorrow," he told them and it was a firm way of telling them to get out of his office.
"I'm going to find Axe," Sonya whispered since she knew that these two would want to be alone.
"Hold on," Trez stopped her. "He's at the penthouse."
Sonya frowned. "Is everything okay?" she asked.
"He got stuck between a bachelorette party and some girls threw glitter all over him," Trez told them.
Sonya laughed and so did Angela. "Oh, that's a shame that I wasn't here to see it," she said.
"I took a picture," Trez revealed.
The girls gasped. "Send it to me," Sonya astounded.
Trez nodded. "Wade can take you to the penthouse, if you want to see him?" he offered.
"Thanks, that'll be a big help," Sonya agreed.
Thankfully, Wade made it just on time and he guided her through the tunnels underneath the club as he ate the cupcake Angela handed to him. She had no idea that there were tunnels down here, but this made it a lot easier to travel through the chaos without being stuck in it. She glanced at Wade who wasn't hiding the blemish on his neck, like something had bruised him. Sonya didn't ask about it, but she wondered if everything was okay with him.
"Here we are," Wade opened the door to the ground floor of the penthouse. "Just take the elevator to the top floor and he's through the first door on the right."
"Wait, how am I supposed to get inside?" Sonya asked.
"He already set your fingerprint on the lock," Wade said. "You just need to touch it and you'll be good to go."
"Oh, okay," Sonya was surprised but also not really. "Thanks, Wade."
He winked at her before he shut the door and left her all by herself. She walked over to the elevator doors and got inside by herself. She hit the last button on the top and it quickly climbed up the floors. She faced her reflection and she realized that she was still in her costume with a box in her hand. The doors pinged open and she emerged on the sleek marble floor and she remembered the last time she was here, it felt like ages ago. The night of Angela's date but they were attacked even then.
Sonya sighed as she realized that people were just out to get them this whole time. She went up to the door and saw the large screen above the knob. She laid her thumb on the keypad and it glowed green before it pocked open for her. Axe really had set her prints here without her knowing how he did it.
Suddenly, her phone pinged and she saw the text from Trez. The photo of Axe covered in pink glitter opened on her screen and she set it at her lock-screen right then and there. He looked miserable as he glared at Trez who was taking the photo. But it was hilarious and Sonya couldn't wait to tease him about it.
Walking in through the loft, it was a beautiful bachelors pad. She came over and heard the water to the shower running with full power. He was probably going to be scrubbing glitter off for a week straight.
"Axe," she called out but there was no response.
Sonya went down the hall and glanced at the massive ceiling windows that showed the entire city below them. The lamps were on around the couches and she remembered that his room was the second door on the right. She knocked before she saw the lights on inside. Opening the door, she glanced around the bedroom but no one was here.
However, she spotted Axe's leather jacket that was covered in glitter laying on the table. She walked inside and saw that the washroom door was open and he was showering inside. She waited by the jacket and put the box of cookies down on the table for him. But that was when her eyes caught the red scarf on the pillow where Axe's holster of guns and knives was placed too. She got up and grabbed it when she recalled that this was hers from that night she came here. She must have forgotten it way back then.
"Am I dreaming or are you really here?" Axe's voice made her smile right away.
"How much do you dream of me?" she retorted as she held the scarf.
Axe smirked as he stood before her drenched after a shower and in a pair of loose slacks, that were left undone at the waist like he didn't have the time to button it before walking out. "A lot," he confessed as he ruffled his wet hair.
"Is this why you held my scarf hostage from me?" She held it up in front of him.
Axe's eyes burned with mischief. "Probably," he told her as he crossed the space slowly making his way to her. But it felt as if the space in the large room shrank and she was being caged in his eyes.
"You could have given it back," she said as she held it against her chest hoping it'd keep her safe from him, but the scarf had no chance.
"That scarf and I have a bond that's unbreakable," he jested as he put his hand on her waist and leaned down to kiss her.
She couldn't resist him at all as she dropped the scarf on the bed and put her arms around his neck as she leaned onto her toes to meet his lips half-way. The warmth of his lips and the wetness of his body seeped through her skin and she felt herself blaze alive with need. She met his tongue and twirled it around her own as he pressed into her. The kiss mesmerized her as she felt him consume everything of hers.
"Oh, I had to show you something," Sonya said as she pulled away.
Axe held onto her. "It can wait," he leaned down to kiss her again.
"No, it can't," she wiggled out of his arms and grabbed her phone off the box. "See!" She turned her phone and showed her lock-screen of him covered in glitter.
Axe's eyes widened and she bit back her laughter. "Change it right now," he grumbled.
"Nope, it's too cute," she laughed as she stared at it. "I only wish I was there to see it."
Axe grumbled a curse. "I'm going to kill my brother," he pitched the bridge of his nose.
Sonya grabbed the box and opened it for him. "Here, cheer up and have a cookie," she offered. "Even though it won't be as sweet as the glitter bomb."
"You know what-" he grabbed the box and put it down on the table before he seized her in his grasp and forced her down onto the bed. "Let's see how much fun you have after I'm through with you."
She laughed as her wings squished against the sheets. "It was a joke," Sonya tried to defend herself, but it didn't work.
"Mm-hmm," he didn't care as he ran his hand over her waist. He grabbed the bands of her wings and peeled them down her arms, taking it off her and throwing it somewhere on the floor.
"Axe," she felt her heart pounding in her chest as she whispered his name. The moment she was under him and his hands were controlling her, she was sure that there was no way she'd resist him.
He anchored his sturdy thighs between her legs and the skirt of her dress fell down and bunched around her waist. His eyes blazed alive when he saw the sheer white stockings that reached right above her knees.
Axe ran his hand over her leg and she felt his scorching touch sink into her skin. He leaned over her as his eyes feasted over her body, that was obediently waiting for him to taste it. His wet hair that hung over his eyes, dripped down on her chest and the cold droplets slid down her skin. She faced him and it was as if he held her breath under his spell too.
He shifted above her as he leaned down and laid his lips on the drop of water that marked her. He ran his tongue along her skin and she watched him through the haze in her eyes. The lights in the room kept nothing secret from her and she adored it that way. There was something enchanting about the way he managed to focus on her and her alone. She felt his fingers slide up her thighs and they were headed straight to where she guessed.
"Lift your hips for me, baby," he softly told her that command and she shivered from response.
Lifting her hips like he said, he grasped the underwear from beneath her dress and slowly pulled it down her hips and then her legs. She saw him take the white piece of lace and tuck it into the back pocket of his slacks.
"This costume suits you," he remarked as he kissed down the bodice of her dress. "Angel," he whispered like the devil that he was before he bit down on the skin between her thighs. He licked over the stinging mark and he kept his eyes on her.
She held her breath as her heart drummed in her throat and she felt her legs trembling out of anticipation. Axe ran his fingers down the opening of her core as she sank into the lurid sensation. He pushed between the folds and she gripped the sheets under her. She ripped her eyes away from him and looked up at the ceiling as his fingers stroked her clit. She bit her lip hard and shut her eyes like she wasn't ready for what he was about to do.
Axe kissed her thigh again like he was teasing her because he knew that his fingers weren't what she ached for right now. He ran the length of his middle finger down her core and pushed it into the entrance slowly. She moaned in response and he bit her thigh again making her lose her senses to the sweet pleasure of his finger curled inside her and then the hot shock of his mark.
He pushed another finger inside and she felt his breath on her skin. Moving her dress out of the way, he laid his lips on her core and took control of her release. He ran his tongue right against her throbbing clit and she arched into his touch. Desperation blazed through her and she ached for him more and more.
Axe pulled his fingers out of her core before he placed his rough hands under her knees and held them secured in his tough grasp. She couldn't even close her legs even if she tried and he intended for her to feel helpless. He devoured her core, ate her like she was his possession and nothing would get between him and his claim on her.
Sonya gripped the sheets tightly, her knuckles turned white from the force and he could see that too, but he didn't dare stop. He used his sinful tongue to conjure this exhilarating pleasure that pounded through her. Everything was overwhelming and it was only him that allowed her to be completely and utter defenceless.
"Oh god, Axe," she cried out in desperation.
Axe was ruthless as he consumed her and fed off her arousal. Her legs trembled in his grasp and he pushed them further apart, lifting her hips slightly off the bed so he could be closer to her. She melted under him and could only feel the slick, wet roll of his tongue over her clit. The pleasure exploded through her and every single nerve, muscle and bone in her body raced to bring her to a climax. Her heart was pounding and her soul was trying so hard not to leave her body. But everything together absolutely ruined her and she orgasmed against his mouth.
She fell against the bed as he lifted his head and she met his wicked blue eyes. Sonya was lost to them and couldn't look away. He wiped the corner of his lip before he grabbed the top of her bodice and pulled it down. Her breasts fell free for his eyes and he leaned down running his tongue along the dark nipple, just like he had for her clit. The tight bodice was terribly uncomfortable now and she ached for it to get off.
Sonya skimmed her fingers on her mate's cheek gathering his attention on her. He leaned up and met her lips with his own. The kiss was sweet and long, he took his time taking her breath for himself and she freely let him.
But she pulled away first. "Get it off me," she tugged at the top of her dress and he understood right away.
Axe took control as he flipped her onto her stomach and his hands grabbed the laced strings down her back. He opened the bow in a single move before he ripped at the silk strings that were keeping the tight corset in place on her. She felt inch by inch the bodice loosened and she could breathe again. She didn't know why he stopped until he grabbed something off the table. Suddenly, she heard something rip sharply and the strings of her dress were scattered around the bed. He dropped the sharp blade on the side of the bed before she felt his lips on her back. She leaned on her arms as he ran his hand down her spine sending a hot shudder through her.
"It left marks on you," he voiced.
She wondered why he was talking about until she realized that he was talking about the bodice. "Corsets do that." She felt his warm lips on the middle of her back as if he could heal it with his touch. "It doesn't hurt," she assured him.
Axe pulled down the dress and slipped it off her with one quick move. She laid bare for him as he turned her onto her back again. He was kneeling between her legs as he ran his hands up her thighs then down the stockings. There wasn't anyone on this planet that wouldn't feel exposed under his eyes. He had this way to him that made him commanding but she thrived on it. She could tell that he was lost in the arousal pumping through him because she caught the hard length of his shaft under his slacks. They were still left open and the thin fabric stretched across his muscular thighs.
"Fuck, do you know how sexy you look right now?" Axe growled hotly.
Sonya glanced down at her body that was naked for him, the only thing she had on were those stockings and white heels strapped to her feet. Other than that, she was completely bare for him. She followed his gaze to the tattoo on her hip that always intrigued him. She never thought it was a big deal and got it for her grandma, but to Axe, it was like a trigger. The moment he saw the tattoo, he'd forget his courteous side and take her ruthlessly. And that moment was right now.
He pushed his slacks out of the way, pulling his hardened erection out and her core quivered from anticipation. Axe ran the head of his cock along her opening, coating her essence on his thick tip before he braced his hands on her hips and slammed into her. She gasped out his name from the sudden intrusion. His thick length made her lose her breath as he filled every single corner of her womb. He pounded into her slick core and she took him willingly. Every part of her body ached out of pleasure and pure ecstasy as he rode out the arousal inside him.
The darkened scent around the room swarmed around her and she felt as if it had its grip on her body. She didn't know what it was before, but Axe told her that it was her pheromones marking her. So, she relished the spiced fragrance and let it fill her lungs and thicken her blood.
Everything exploded inside her and she was clear of any doubts inside her. She loved this man and everything that was hers was his. She knew that the moment she met him and she never should have doubted that for a second.
Right now, his wolf shined through his eyes and she could see him clearly. He was desperate to be with her- they both were. She ached to hold them in her arms and she'd never deny them anything. Her body, her heart and her soul only belonged to Axe because she knew he'd protect them.
He leaned down and locked their lips together as she held him to her, her breasts crushed against his chest as he slammed into her core. The honey of her arousal dripped down her thighs and coated his shaft, so he could easily slide in and out of her. He took advantage of her desperation and picked up his speed. Both of them overcome with pleasure were about to come.
"Mark me," she pleaded breathlessly.
Axe obliged with every single morsel of love that he had in his body for her. He latched his mouth onto her neck and bit down hard before both of them ruptured into a shattering orgasm. Sonya couldn't even lift a limb after that and slumped against the bed hopelessly in love.
"I love you," Axe whispered against her beating heart.
She smiled at him. "Marry me," she wished.
Axe's eyes widened and his shaft hardened inside her. She moaned at the sensation of his cock filing her out again. "What's you say?" he said. "Say it again."
"Marry me, Axe Luciano," she smiled up at him as she laid her palm on his cheek.
Axe grabbed her hand and kissed her hand before he locked their lips together. "Yes, yes-" he kissed her again- "Yes, Sonya. Yes, god, I've been yours from the start."
Sonya felt his cock imbedded inside her. "I can see that," she jested.
Axe smirked over her lips and he slowly pulled out of her before he pushed into her. He played with her body for a while, teasing her and tempting her dark side, that only he managed to bring out. However, he soon took away that darkness and showed her how soft he could be with her. Kissing every part of her, he whispered his love for her as he filled her womb and told her how he ached to always be with her.
She held him in her arms and cherished his words, locking them in her heart to keep forever. Both of them rode out a release that poured the truth in their hearts and it was overflowing with love.
Eventually, they spent a while just lying in bed. Kissing slowly would lead to him touching her and he'd draw out another orgasm even though she thought she couldn't do it anymore. But she wasn't any less than him when it came to teasing one another. She pushed him down on the bed and showed him that she controlled his body just as much as he did hers. She knew how to set him off and she made sure to touch where it scorched him. His tattooed body was just as sensitive as hers and it was so hot to see him lose his mind as she put her lips around his shaft.
The sun that set behind them told them that it was too late to return home. They decided to just stay the night here.
"Are you hungry?" Axe asked her as she laid on the bed with her head on the pillow.
Sonya was starving. "Yes," she answered through her sleepy eyes.
He kissed her cheek. "Freshen up and I'll get food ready," he instructed as he got up from the bed. He slid on his pants and grabbed his phone before he left the bedroom.
Sonya stretched her legs out and arms over her head as she couldn't keep the smile off her lips. She quickly got up and went to the sleek, modern bathroom to take a quick shower. Securing her hair into a bun, she cleaned herself up and used the dark scented body wash on her body making her smell like him.
Grabbing a towel off the rack when she was finished, she wrapped it around her body and dried off. She went over to the mirror and pulled the band off her hair, letting it fall down her shoulders again. She combed it through with her fingers.
Sonya went back to the room and opened the drawer for some clothes since her dress was torn to shreds. She found one of his black t-shirts and slid it over her torso, it fell down to her thighs and the sleeves reached her elbows. Sonya noticed how big it really was now since it fitted Axe perfectly, but his muscles filled it out. She didn't have any underwear and remembered that the man had it hanging out of his pocket even now. She rummaged through the next drawer and grabbed a pair of his boxers. She slid them on and rolled up the band so it'd fit without falling off. Honestly, she should probably leave some clothes here in the future if this was going to be a habit of theirs.
Sonya grabbed her dress off the ground and cleaned up the room. She never liked a messy bed and fixed the sheets, even picked up Axe's knife and put it on the table before she left turning the lights off behind her. She saw Axe sitting on the black leather couch with his ear to the phone.
Sonya walked passed him into the kitchen wondering if he kept any food here. She opened the fridge and it was empty except a few bottles of water, which answered her question.
"I ordered food," Axe told her. "It's coming soon."
She glanced over her shoulder at him and held her thumb up since he was still on the phone. She grabbed the water out of the fridge and went over to him on the couch. She took a seat beside him and curled her legs up since it was cold here. He faced her even though he spoke on the phone and his eyes fell on his shirt. He immediately smiled and put his hand on her thigh. She told him to focus on his call but when did he ever listen to her.
Axe kept the phone on his ear as he gave whoever it was a minimal answer like "Hmm" and "Mm". Sonya moved back as he brought her down on the couch and he put his hand on her breast that was bare under the shirt. He leaned down and put his mouth on her through the cotton, taking the hardened nipple between his teeth.
She tried so hard not to respond since he was on the phone, but she didn't know what to do once his hand cupped her core through his boxers. She saw the animal in his eyes blaze alive and she realized that he liked his clothes on her.
"Hmm," he answered on the phone as he shifted his attention to the other breast.
Sonya wondered when food was coming because this man was about to have her as his meal again.
"I'm not coming in tomorrow," he said then and that caught her attention. "I have a wedding to plan, brother."
Sonya gasped as she realized that Trez was on the phone the entire time. But before she could do anything about it, Axe cut the phone and locked their lips together. She moaned against his lips and tried to protest why he told his brother over the phone. But Axe wasn't having any of it. He had his attention on her body and he always had what he set his mind to. He didn't take her clothes off but it was as if she laid here bare for him from the way he fucked the life out of her. He pushed the boxers to the side and plunged into her hard. She placed her hand on the arm of the couch behind her and she held herself together when he brought them both to a delicious pinnacle. They climaxed and he didn't stop there obviously. He had his mouth on her making her come again and he licked her clean before he put the boxers back in place.
Just at the nick of time, the doorbell went off and Axe got up to check who it was leaving Sonya disheveled on the couch with no strength in her body. But she smelt the spices from the door and only food moved her. Axe ordered Chinese take-out and he brought it to her by the couch. They opened the boxes and she dug into the spicy noodles with her chopsticks. Food was hot and perfectly flavoured, so she enjoyed every bite.
After they ate and cleaned up, the doorbell rang again and Axe left to answer it. Sonya poured them more wine since he also ordered that too. She held her glass while she stood over the tall windows. Axe returned with a blue box in his hand.
"Come here, sweetheart," he held his hand out.
Sonya put the glass down on the table before she went to him. He opened the box and held her left hand before she sensed something cold touch her. She looked down and a diamond ring slid onto her finger. Her eyes widened as the large white diamond glittered beneath the dim lights.
"Axe," her mouth fell open as he held her hand in his own.
Axe kissed her cheek. "We're engaged now," he said.
"But how- when did you- what-" she was left baffled.
"I wasn't going to let you walk around without a ring for a single moment," he said.
Sonya hugged him tightly. "Thank you," she fought back the tears in her eyes, but it was impossible.
He kissed her and wiped her tears as she held onto him with all her strength. There was nothing in the world that made her feel this complete. Her mate, the one that was made for her was all she could live for. And she believed with all her heart that she would be his and he'd be hers no matter what lifetime it may be.
Axe took her to bed and they spent the rest of the night tangled together with their bodies expressing their love for one another. They eventually fell asleep and Sonya woke up to sensation of the ring on her finger. She glanced around the dark room and Axe was asleep next to her as his head leaned on her neck and his arm was over her waist.
She ran her fingers through his hair as she looked down at the ring, that was when she noticed the small detail she missed earlier when she was crying. The band on the ring was made to replicate a peacock feather. She couldn't believe and it was easy to miss the detail too, since it was a thin feather wrapped around her finger before the big oval diamond sat on its pedestal. She looked at Axe who was fast asleep, but she wondered he had gotten such a sweet ring in such a short amount of time. He must have had it prepared already.
Sonya turned in his arms and held him close to her body as he tightened his arms around her unconsciously in his sleep. "I love you," she whispered before she fell asleep again to his darkened scent and the steady drum of his heart.
