Chapter Six: [Edited]
Chapter Six
While I was lying on my living room couch watching television, I was thinking of Alyssa. I had been thinking about Alyssa since she died. I miss her. I miss her a lot. I kept wondering why would Jose give Alyssa an illegal drug and then kill her when Alyssa accidentally overdosed on fentanyl.
Back at the DEA Los Angeles Division, I was explaining to Peter about why Jose Alvarez would want to give Alyssa a drug that is a narcotic drug and a dangerous drug. "So you think Alyssa was killed on purpose?" wondered Peter. I sighed and folded my arms together.
"I did some research. I find out that Alyssa had been talking to one of her buddies who certainly was a drug addict himself who told Alyssa about Jose selling drugs and they'd both didn't know that Alyssa was dealing with a drug lord," I explained.
"And who is this friend of Alyssa's you are talking about," wondered Peter, folding his arms as well.
"He and I went to school together. This was before I met Alyssa. His name is Colson Jones. I knew Colson. He was always troubled in school, he dealt with drugs, since he was thirteen years old. I remember spotting him after school where he was sniffing cocaine in his nose, along with some other people who I also went to school with and unfortunately he and Alyssa knew each other before I met her after she left rehab. He unfortunately had got in contact with Jose, and Jose contacted Colson back and Jose told Colson that he and Alyssa can meet up at the hotel Hernandez was sleeping in and would exchange the drugs for money," I said.
"How much money are we talking about?" asked Peter. "$25 per drug stash," I answered back.
"Well. Alvarez is definitely looking at a long sentence for selling that much. He makes 50,000 dollars a week by selling fentanyl every week of every month," says Peter.
"And plus the other narcotics, cocaine and methamphetamine. He sells them for $50 a stash," I said this time.
"Alvarez is selling it for that much, he is possibly a millionaire by now," says Peter.
I sighed. "Or he became a millionaire as soon as he started," I explained. "I mean $25 and $50 a stash would make him a millionaire. I mean he's really capable of what he wants to do with this whole thing. I mean, he killed my girlfriend and I was gonna ask her to marry me," I explained.
Peter just stood where he was looking at me with a sad expression on his face. "You know, I lost someone I really cared about as well. He was my best friend. My childhood friend. His name was Jack Brown. He died in the line of duty. He was an FBI agent working with me. We grew up together doing the same things. We both became special agents as soon as we both together graduated from the FBI academy," says Peter.
I took a deep breath and sighed. I folded my arms together. "So I understand where you are coming from," says Peter. I nodded my head. I didn't say a word this time.
When I was lying in my bed in my apartment alone, I was scrolling through my iPhone looking at old photos of me and Alyssa together. I had a flashback of Alyssa lying on her hospital bed in her room, flatlining.
After my flashback ended, I continued scrolling through the photos on my iPhone. Jose Alvarez is a dangerous criminal and he is a high profile offender. He knows that what he is doing is illegal but doesn't give a darn. I want this guy to be taken down and prosecuted by the federal court. Jose Alvarez is a man who smuggles illegal drugs to the United States and kills innocent people by selling them. Alyssa didn't know that she was given illegal drugs. She was a drug addict for a while.
Until after we started dating, I didn't even know she was abusing drugs or anything else. I am very upset. I'm angry. I want Jose Alvarez to pay for what he did to Alyssa. I will do anything to get justice for Alyssa, because when we started dating I made a promise to Alyssa that if something bad happened to her, I will do anything to make it right. And by doing it right I mean I am going to do whatever it takes to make sure she gets the justice she deserves.
Mr. and Mrs. Joanna, they were at my place together talking to me if I think I am able to stop Jose from killing Alyssa. I told them yes. Mrs. Joanna began to cry in front of me. I didn't mind for her to cry, she had every reason to cry. Mr. Joanna was comforting his wife. But I am afraid if we don't catch Jose, more people will be killed.
When Mr. Joanna and Mrs. Joanna looked at me as I was sitting on the living room couch in front of them as well as them also sitting on the couch in my living room across from me, I needed to be excused. I started to feel nervous for a moment and I stood from my couch and I went up the stairs to my bathroom.
After I went into the bathroom, I shut the door. I took deep breaths and I turned around to walk up to my bathroom sink and I leaned over the sink with both hands touching the sides of the sink. I took a deep breath and I turned on the spigot of the sink and I splashed cold water on my face.
After I turned off the water, I continued leaning over the sink. I swallowed. I leaned back up before I turned to the door and I opened the door. After exiting my bathroom, I headed back downstairs to the living room and I sat back down on the couch.
Mr. and Mrs. Joanna could tell that something was bothering me. "Sweetheart, are you okay?" asked Mrs. Joanna, looking at me.
"Yeah, I'm okay," I answered back to Mrs. Joanna. I sighed. "Um. I promised Alyssa that if anything bad happened to her, I will do anything to make it right," I said to Mrs. Joanna.
"And that is by stopping Jose Alvarez from killing more people? Just like he killed my Alyssa," says Mr. Joanna.
I nodded my head and said, "yeah." I softly smiled at Mr. Joanna.
9I hope as a DEA agent, you will stop this madness from spreading out to other people. Harrison, you were good to our daughter. Always have been. Alyssa got so lucky meeting such an amazing person like you. Her last boyfriend she was with didn't treat her so well. This was before she had gone to rehab and they'd broken up right before Alyssa was sent to rehab because apparently her ex boyfriend was also a drug addict and turned my daughter into a drug addict, and he sort of broke up with Alyssa because Alyssa decided she wanted to do better with herself," says Mrs. Joanna.
I stroked my hair to the side. "Yeah. Alyssa did tell me about that after she and I started dating," I said.
Mrs. Joanna smiled at me. She also wiped her tears. As I sat there on my couch, Mrs. Joanna sniffled and she looked at Mr. Joanna. Mr. Joanna smiled at his wife. I smiled at Mrs. Joanna and I sighed once again.
