Chapter 4: Can't stay away

I woke up in the middle of the night. My head was pounding from all the liquor I drunk. I just wanted to sleep the day away, but as I turned over and began to close my eyes I was hit with a harsh reality.

I seen Charles next to me fast asleep. I jumped up and got out of the bed, "Oh no..no no no." I panicked and began to put on my clothes quickly. I checked the time, it was 5a.m.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" I seen Charles sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

"This was a mistake, I'm sorry." I grabbed my shoes and my bag and walked towards the door.

"Mistake?" He jumped out the bed and followed me. "Olivia! Olivia wait!" He grabbed my hand and turned me to face him. "Look you wanted this, you wanted to be with me."

"I was drunk Charles!" I pulled out his grip and began putting on my shoes.

"I'm not talking about the sex Olivia."

I looked at him for a minute but snapped out of it and continued to put on my other shoe. "I can't do this right now Charles, I have a husband!"

"And he doesn't love you, not like you want." I grabbed my coat and walked to the elevator. "Does he even notice you anymore!?" The elevator came but my body wouldn't move. Charles walked closer, I could feel his breath down my next like a vice. "If you just want me just say it." He whispered.

My legs felt weak, I felt a want to stay a want to make things work but...

The door began to close, I hit the button again and walked inside. "I don't want you." I said sternly. I pressed the first floor and the elevator closed and went down.

I backed myself against the wall suddenly feeling sick to my stomach as I heard Charles bang at the elevator in frustration. Suddenly flashes of our sex began to invade my thoughts, his touch, his voice, his every move...even his kiss was like a drug I couldn't stop yearning for...the way he was both rough and sweet...the way he played to my every whim...

The door opened and I shook off the thoughts, realizing I had my fingers on my lips. I stood up, fixed myself up and walked outside to hail a taxi.

Once I walked into the door I seen Kevin sleeping on the chair by the door. I tried to walk slowly past him but as I walked up the stairs I heard his deep voice say, "I'm sorry..." He looked up at me, "I didn't mean to forget your birthday it's just with work and paperwork piling up everything just got away from me."

I nodded, "No I get it." I said, "So what gave it away the presents from the people who actually remembered or did your memory finally find out what really matters here." I walked upstairs.

"Olivia!" He called rushing towards the steps.

"No I'm done thinking that your going to be a good lover, that you'll always see what's right in front of you. That I will matter Kevin!" I shouted.

"You do matter baby." He looked up at me. "I love you."

"Yeah...prove it." I walked up the last few steps and into the bedroom, slamming the door behind me.

I hopped into the bed and covered my face with a pillow. I didn't know where all that came from, that anger...everything had just built up all at once. I felt my hands shaking.

I heard the door opened. "I don't want to talk anymore." I mumbled through the pillow.

"I didn't come here to talk about that. I came here to give you something." I looked up and wiped away my tears as he handed me a birthday bag. I opened it and pulled out a small black box, my heart skipped a beat...I slowly opened it. A small diamond ring sat in a white cushion.

I looked up at him, "Kevin...I-"

"Olivia Davis, will you marry me?" He asked kneeling next the the bed and holding my hand.

I was speechless, I didn't know what to say besides... "Yes..." I began to cry. "Yes I will." He gently put the ring on my finger and I jump hugged him tightly.

I looked at the ring on my finger. He doesn't love you, not like you want! My smile faded as Charles came into my head, I felt like I had betrayed him somehow even if we were never together. "Hey...do you think I can have a day to think about this..."

He pulled back and looked at me, "Yeah of course." He placed his hand on my cheek, "Anything you want." I smiled at him.

The next morning I was swarmed with people asking about my ring and me getting married. I had seen Charles there, He must of overheard because he had a sad look on his face. I needed to talk to him, make sure there were no hard feelings.

I seen him during my break, "Hey Charles."

He turned to me, "Hey...um congrats on the-" He pointed to my ring.

"Oh yeah thanks." I seen in his eyes He didn't mean it. "So you work here now?" I asked.

"Yeah I got a position in development, making the chain bigger, stronger, and more effective."

"Must be a pretty amazing job." I said.

He grinned weakly. "So um...he asked you that night."

I nodded, "Charles I-"

He shook his head, "Its fine I get it. Look I should go." He walked off before I could say another word.

After work I decided to walk home but instead found my way in front of Charles apartment. I called his phone but there wasn't a answer but I felt like I needed to see him, he seemed seriously broken when he found out about my marriage.

I rung the doorbell and finally after awhile the door opened and Charles looked at me. "What?" He said.

He was wearing shorts and a t-shirt but I still felt strange around him, remembering our moment from last night. "I wanted to see you."

He raised a eyebrow at me but opened the door and let me inside. We both went into the elevator. "So what's up?" He asked.

"It's about last night, I just feel like I've hurt you and I just want to straighten out that what happened wasn't by any means a show of attraction r commitment to one anot-"

He pushed me against the wall suddenly and began to kiss me. "Just stop talking...stop denying that you want me." He kissed my neck and I wrapped my arms around him instinctively. The feeling instantly overwhelmed me and I couldn't turn off what he had just turned on.

The elevator door opened and he picked me up and carried me to his room. He tossed me onto the bed and we began to aggressively tear off each others clothes.

He took me in his arms and kisses me intensely as he pulled out his thing and put it inside me. With every thrust it was like heaven, and I couldn't help but crave more and more of him. "Don't marry him." He said huffing as he pushed deeper inside me. "I can give you more than great sex. I can give you way more attention."

I moaned and held onto him tightly as he lifted my leg. "I....can't..."

"Olivia...you want me. I know it, you know it. Just do it." He pulled me on top of him and laid back in the bed. "Just take me."

I began to move, faster and faster. I knew he was right, I never felt this way when I was with Kevin.

I felt myself about to climax the roar of the moment, the movement of my body. The only thing that didn't accept how much I wanted Charles was me. "I want you so bad..." I said softly.

He smiled and turned me over on all fours and began to thrust in a way that made me climax 3 times. I was hooked. I wanted him, all of him...

After taking a shower Charles placed me on top of his piano and played, "All of me." It was magical.

He drove me home, after about 3a.m. I sighed, "It's it wrong for me not wanting this to end?" I asked.

He smiled and kissed me gently on my lips, "It doesn't have to."

I looked at him, "I know but..."

"But your getting married." He said finishing my thought.

"I'm sorry..." He grabbed me and held me in his arms tightly and we sat like that in silence for a moment.

After awhile he let go and I sadly left the car with one last kiss before walking towards the door. I watched him drive off and then dropped my stuff by the door.

Suddenly I looked up as I let out my hair and seen Kevin sitting in front of me. "Who was that?" He asked. "Honey?"
