12 - Dreaming
Since I hadn't a major mistake this whole date, of course I would have to accidentally mess up something before it was over.
I burned him.
My powers always came out in short bursts of strong emotion. Dammit. It just had to come when I was having my first kiss. He looked so shocked that I hurt him. I guess my face fell and I looked frustrated with myself. He took me into his arms and whispered that it was all okay. "Looks like we need to work on that," he chuckled into my hair as he kissed the top of my head. He made sure to teach me how to go back to the Wild Ones' camp whenever I needed. He told me that he'll see me in a couple of days and disappeared.
It all left my heart feeling warm, though I was standing in the middle of the falling snow.
Now I'm standing in front of my dorm room at nearly 3:30 in the morning with no believable explanation. I'm a really dreadful liar too. I turn the knob slowly and push it open with my boot-clad foot. I get in silently and attempt to push the door closed. That is, before someone jumped on top of my back.
"Call the police!" she screeches in my ear.
"What's the number again?"
"911, you idiot!"
"Sorry, sorry I'm panicking!"
I try to shush them but nothing works. Finally, I throw Lily off my back and Meg screams across the room. "It's just me! It's Quinn!" I whisper-yell. I flip on the light switch and all the swirling chaos comes to an abrupt halt.
"Oh," they say in unison. Meg throws the phone onto her bed and runs to give me a hug and Lily wraps her arms around my neck. "Where in hell did you go?" Meg says. "You never came back that night, you were gone a whole other day, and you come here super early in the morning. We deserve an explanation, don't you think?" Lily agrees, nodding her blonde head.
What is there even to say? The craziest (that's the best way to put it) experience of my life just happened and I have NO idea how to put it into words. I've made enemies, discoveries, friends (or maybe, possibly, even more than a friend?). How can I even begin to describe this?"
"No, wait, don't tell us!" Meg interrupts ny train of thought before I can even open my mouth. "You slept over at Andy's house and now you're going to have a baby!"
"No, Andy's secretly a vampire and he bit you and now you're turning into one!" Lily adds.
Heat rises to my face with the memory of Andy laying with me when I was cold and when wings spread out from his back on the school balcony. Everything was so insane. I guess I should start from the beginning. But would all of them want me to tell my friends about all that happened? "I'll talk to you guys about everything in the morning if that's alright," I make up an excuse, letting out a fake yawn. "I just really need some sleep for now." Reluctantly, they nod in agreement and get back to bed. I tuck myself into the warm heavy covers, thankful for a bed finally. Even as I close my eyes and feel myself drifting to sleep, I can hear them whispering about me.

I'm leaning against my locker in an empty hallway. My gaze flicks to the clock. The numbers are all jumbled and they make absolutely no sense no matter how hard I try to read then. I pinch my arm. Yep, definitely felt that. I must be lucid dreaming or something like that. I look over to my left and Gerard is right beside me.
"You have to stop doing that!"
"Sorry, did I scare you?" he says quietly, his hazel eyes soft. How should I react? I mean it's only a dream, right? I should be able to do whatever I want.
"What are you doing in my dream?"
"Why are you dreaming about me?" he counters. Frankly, I don't have any idea. He asks another question, "Have you been keeping away from Andy like I told you?" I cross my arms defiantly.
"No," I reply. "Because he's a good guy, and you can't tell me what I can or can't do."
"Ah," Gerard exclaims sharply, and my heart skips a beat. "But I am allowed to give some helpful advice. Aren't I?" He takes one step closer and I take one backwards, my back hitting the lockers. He really is sort of beautiful. In an entirely different way than Andy. "So you two are dating now?" Gerard says, coming closer.
Dammit we're in the exact same spot as we were not too many days ago. I feel heat in my cheeks again. Gerard's breath smells like flowers for whatever reason. I resist the urge to breath in. I clutch my arms as hard as I can.
"No," I growl through my teeth. "We're... friends." Wow what a stupid response. His dark eyebrows rise. "Oh really?" He kisses my cheek before I have any time to react.
Suddenly, his teeth, more like fangs, are coming closer and closer to my neck--

Alara's POV
----------------
All he ever did now was sit on his stupid bed and strum that stupid guitar and it angered her immensely. Aggravated her beyond the point of belief. But then again, what didn't anger Alara?
The Wild Ones couldn't afford their best fighter getting all soft. Just because of this phony claiming to be The One. Alara scoffed under her breath, making her way to Andy's tent. She carried hot soup in one hand and some healing herbs in the other. Despite her annoyance towards Andy, she still felt the need to take care of him for some reason. It's like I'm his damn mother, she thought.
He wouldn't even let her or Jinxx in there. The first time a "human" fluttered her long dark lashes at him, and he'd probably already written a a song about her. Quinn Thompson had the whole cliche "girl-who-doesn't-know-she's-pretty-until-her-boyfriend-tells-her" facade pinned down pretty well. Like Thompson could ever fool her. Her performance wasn't all that believable.
Alara halted at the entrance and strained her ears, trying to listen to what Andy was doing. One half of her felt the urge to barge in and cut off his tongue and fingers to force him to stop playing, and the other... the other wanted to sit here and listen forever. She did neither, but decided she would be happy only acknowledging one of those thoughts.
She felt the faintest whisper of a touch on her sturdy shoulder and her hand went directly to pull out the dagger in her sheath. She swung around, quick and dark and silent as a wraith. She found her dagger almost cutting the pale neck of her twin brother.
Alara cursed. "You should know better than to sneak up on me!" she reprimanded him. Jinxx did not flinch. "But you still didn't spill a drop of soup," he said quietly. "Very impressive, Lara. Now could you please do the honor of removing your dagger from my throat?"
She tore her hand away, so quick that a spot of red remained. Just to annoy her brother.
"This can't all possibly be about Quinn," Jinxx remarked. Alara snorted. He took that as a yes. He shook his head. "Our Andy was supposed to go to that school to find The One, not a girlfriend." Alara lowered her eyes.
"Do you really think she's The One?" she asked. Jinxx stroked his chin, thinking. "Well, she certainly isn't normal," he stated and walked away.
Alara sighed, then a took in a deep breath. He is right, she realized. She poked her head into the tent the tiniest bit so she could get a look at Andy. What the hell was that on his arm? She squinted her eyes. It was a burn! And the same one that Thompson had given her! Oh, was he going to be in so much trouble. Seeing the blister made her angry again.
Without warning, she stormed in and placed his soup and herbs onto the bed stand with a loud clank. "You're eating your damn soup whether you want to or not," she snapped and left without another word.
She couldn't tell if his expression of a mix of bewilderment and confusion gave her satisfaction or not.
