Forced Human(?) Interaction

Amorette:

Friday was my last day of suspension.

My body was still tender from the incident with Atlanta.

At the moment, I'm patiently waiting for the bus, silently praying I don't get murdered.

I heard footsteps, not clacking heels, but heavy footfalls.

I crane my head to my right to look around for the source and see three figures coming down the hill.

I squinted my eyes and adjusted my glasses as the figures become larger as they came closer.

"Hey girly," I heard an unfamiliar voice call.

I scrunched my nose in distaste.

Shit.

Ashton was across the street with two equally bulky guys.

The one with fiery red hair and dark eyes was smiling brightly, while the one with bright, platinum blonde hair just looked done with everything.

"So you're the girl Ash has been talking nonstop about," the read head called mischievously.

Ashton swiftly turned around and smacked the back of his head, the sound echoing through the morning air.

"Ow," he muttered, but his face held amusement and satisfaction. He's like a five-year-old annoying his big brother.

Ashton looked back at me with a sheepish look on his face and his cheeks tinted pink.

"Hey," he greeted, "Don't listen to that dumbass, he's just fucking around".

I simply nodded after I heard a cackle erupt from the redhead.

Ashton rolled his eyes and began walking across the street towards me.

He stopped next to me, maintaining eye contact.

His friends immediately started play fighting, like little boys who are bored. I stayed a good distance from them to avoid getting bumped, although it was hilarious.

I thought I heard growls come from them, but they paused, looking deep in thought, and then composed themselves quickly.

"The idiots' Jack and blondie over here is Peirce," Ashton introduced me to his friends.

"Yo," Peirce greeted.

"I'm not an idiot," Jack huffed turning his nose up, "I'm educationally challenged".

I quietly laughed at his dramatics.

"What are you doing over here?" I asked quietly.

"Oh, I'm getting on the bus here from now on, Jack lives a few houses up, but he wasn't here yesterday," Bus Boy states.

'His name is Ashton' I scolded myself.

"Oh, alright".

He smiled nervously at me and warmth spreadable throughout my body, making my legs feel like jello.

I hid my blush by yawning and turning away.

"Hey girly," Jack called, "I personally never caught your name".

"It's Amorette," I say a bit louder than usual, so he can hear me from where he's standing.

"Pretty. Sounds like the Spanish word for love," he said matter-of-factly.

He winked at Ashton, who was still standing beside me.

His cheeks flushed a deep red, making his freckles look like seeds on a strawberry.

"Little bitch fucking-," he muttered in annoyance.

I'm ashamed to admit it, but he's cute as hell when he's embarrassed with his strawberry looking cheeks.

My heartbeat sped up unnaturally fast as I processed what I said.

His eyes met mine and he smirked cheekily.

I pulled my eyes away, about to deny what I knew he was thinking when I heard an all too familiar voice call my name.

"Amorette," Estela called, Brittany and Atlanta followed suit, "Girl, what's up!"

I'm hella confused.

She engulfed me in a hug while I just stood there paralyzed with my body still aching.

"Hey Ams, so sorry bout' the fight, totally my fault, we good?" Atlanta chirped. She had a look in her eyes that said if I didn't say yes, I would get a lot more than just a couple of bruises.

Dumbfounded, I slowly nodded my head.

"Yay," she exclaimed, "Great, love ya!"

She winked at Ashton, causing my chest to collapse inward on itself.

I looked up at Ashton, seeing anger and confusion in his expression.

He put his hand on my shoulder, shocking me a lot. Literally. The shocks weren't uncomfortable, but pleasant.

The group of she-Devils talked among themselves, occasionally throwing glances at me and the boys.

The bus pulled up and I boarded after Park with Jack and Ashton right behind me. It's almost like they're making a little wall.

I sat down in my usual seat, but oddly, Ashton sat behind me, Peirce in front of me, and Jack was already slumped, half lying down, in the seat across the aisle from me.

The looks I got from all of the females (and possibly males too, gay or not) pierced my body like daggers.

Hate, jealousy, and envy were shot my way.

I just wanted to go back home and never be seen again.

"You okay?" Park questioned me.

"Yes, it's just people are staring," I whispered unsteadily.

My face was hot and I felt myself shaking a bit, and I was taking deep breathes to stop myself from losing it right there.

I saw Ashton all of the sudden stands in his seat and glare the whole frickin' bus down.

Damn.

The stares receded, and people began talking again.

Ashton's stop was empty and on the ride, I found out Peirce didn't even go on this bus. He said he and his family practically live at Jack's. I also found that there was a whole crap ton of new kids this year, all of them the guys knew well and were close with them. I found that odd and wondered where the vacant houses came from and why they all moved around the same time.

Ashton and his friends were friendly and chill to be around.

At one point, I found myself leaning back against my seat and looking up at Ashton's face. He was resting his head on top of my seat, smiling down at me while talking.

In that short time, I came out of my shell more than I've had since 6th grade. It was so easy to be around him, and it felt so right.

My usually cold body feel warm and my stomach had a large group of butterflies.

The bus pulled up to the school and we all went our separate ways.

I felt happy and no longer shy like I could conquer anything.

But as I was sorting through my books I realized what my mood meant.

'Shit' I cursed mentally 'I'm screwed'
