Chapter 26

She was sitting on Sirius' lap with a grin on her lips and her arm around his neck. She had been sitting there for at least an hour, just basking in the thought of being Mrs Hopkins-Black. Sirius had been whispering in her ear the thought of slipping away for an hour, and every time she saw the teasing smirk on his lips she'd merely roll her eyes and told him he could wait if he really put his mind to it.

Of course, he didn't want to.

"I love you," Sirius whispered, his hand on her thigh and a smile of content on his face, "I love you so, so, so much."

She giggled, he had been whispering the same thing the full night - if she was meeting guests and he was too then he would whisper it in passing...sometimes stopping her just to kiss her. The park had been completely transformed for their night-time party for the guests, with tables and lights and food and wine.

It was a beautiful transformation and looked like a winter wonderland and just previous she had to comfort a sobbing - and very drunk - Slughorn who was ranting and raving about he knew it was going to happen way back in her fifth year.

"I love you too," she whispered, cupping his cheek, "y'know I'm officially Mrs Black now."

"Mrs Hopkins-Black," he corrected, "and I think I love that even more."

She perked up at that, "really?"

"I really do. Maybe I should become Mr Hopkins-Black," he smirked, and she nodded enthusiastically.

"You could go by Mr Black, but it could officially be Mr Hopkins-Black. It would make sense, too, because you'd finally have the name of your family," she was whispering against his skin, she just loved the feeling of her lips on him, of being so close to him and feeling him.

"I think I'll take you up on that offer, my beautiful wife." The way he said wife had her heart doing cartwheels and her smile widening, "I really like the sound of that."

"I do too." she nodded, "very much."

He grinned, nudging his head towards the makeshift dance floor, "look at that."

She turned, giggling from his lap at the sight of a very pissed off looking Alina dancing with a very enthusiastic James and a very awkward looking Jesse trying to keep up with Lily spinning and turning and jumping around. She wondered how her two best friends even managed to get the couple to dance with them, but she was sure they truly regretted it.

"Mila wanted to congratulate the newlyweds," Grace giggled suddenly, coming into the twos view with Mila resting in her arms.

Adria was sure her face was sore from the amount of smiling she did, but it was the least of her worries as she took Mila from Grace's grip and telling her sister in law to go and dance with Alfie who looked like he was ready to collapse from Jude pestering him.

"Hello baby girl," Adria whispered, kissing Mila's temple, "you looked lovely today!"

Mila giggled, clapping her little hands together and standing on Adria's lap to play with Sirius' hair which she loved dearly, "I feel like I haven't seen her in so long."

"I know," Sirius nodded, pinching the girl's cheek with a smile of his own, "she's getting far too big."

"I know, I don't want her to grow up!"

"Mila!" Finn exclaimed, hurrying up to the couple with Milo's hand in his, "I have missed her so much!"

Adria giggled at the sight of her friends, kissing Milo's cheek when he leaned down to hug her, "technically," the boy spoke, "you could say she is named after me."

"I think not!" Finn snorted, "it's completely different."

"It's a one letter difference!" Milo exclaimed, scooping Mila into his arms who squeezed his face with her little hands.

"Where is Peter?" Adria asked the two, looking around and seeing Thea bouncing Eva in her arms, "I wanted to see him."

"I'm not sure, actually," Finn frowned, looking around him. He shrugged his shoulders and she sighed, nodding and getting comfortable on Sirius' lap.

"Alright. I can take her ba-"

"No! you enjoy your wedding, Mrs Hopkins-Black." Finn winked, both boys bidding the two a goodbye.

"You know, it's only been a few days," Sirius whispered in her ear, "but look at how healthier Remus is. He took the last few days off work and Isaac told me he has just been resting and sleeping the full time."

"Thank Merlin," Adria whispered, sighing with a bubbling feeling of relief in her stomach, "Blair looks happier too, and Isaac. He was looking at flats yesterday - close to the one Blair and Remus are thinking of getting and close to our house too. I'm so happy, Sirius."

"Good." He tightened his grip on her, "that's my goal in life, by the way."

"What? To make me happy?"

"Exactly," he smirked, burying his head in the crook of her neck and she hummed at the kisses placed on her skin, "did I ever mention how incredibly gorgeous you look?"

"I think you mentioned it...just once or twice though. Of course, you would never go over the top with compliments!" she gasped, sending a smirk whilst he glared at her evident sarcasm, "you look very handsome yourself, did I mention that?"

"Just once," he teased, "you know my offer to slip away still stands."

She stood from his lap, turning and leaning down to cup his cheeks in her hands and kissed him fully, "maybe later...you're so impatient."

"I can't help it," he whined, his hands trailing down her body very slowly so he could bask in her touch, in her body under his hands, "just...look at you."

"You've looked at me for five years," she giggled, "four if we only count the ones we've been together."

"Oh no, I'd definitely say five," he grinned, standing with her and pulling her into him, "you know, Mrs Hopkins-Black...I'm having the hardest time keeping my hands off of you."

"I have a solution for that!"

"Oh yeah?"

"Yes," she nodded, turning to face him and winking, "Just keep your hands on me."

"I love that idea."

"Good."

"Peter!" Adria exclaimed, hurrying over to Peter with Sirius holding onto her hand, "I didn't see you, where did you go?!"

"The...bathroom," Peter snorted, "Merlin, Adria...did you drink when I was gone? I saw you twenty minutes ago!"

"Hey, I can be worried!" she exclaimed, throwing her arm around him, "now are you going to help your lovely girlfriend, or will I have to?"

"I was just going to," he smirked, "you know, I'm not sure if I should feel sorry for Sirius or excited."

"You little shit!" she huffed, glaring at him, "I know I definitely feel sorry for Thea!"

"Wait, actually...have you seen Finn?" Peter suddenly asked, "I have to ask him something...when Milo was working - Finn was looking after Eva and we can't find her favourite teddy!"

"Good Godric, Pete, why don't you forget about all the responsibility stuff for now and just have fun!" Adria giggled, ushering him away and turning to Sirius.

"Are you ordering people to have fun now?" asked Sirius, a smirk on his lip and she waved him off.

"I want everyone to be happy," she shrugged, "now would my wonderful husband like to dance?"

"It would be an honour," Sirius grinned, guiding her onto the floor amidst their guests.

They danced for a lengthy amount of time, with Lily and James slow dancing beside them and Lia and Ramona twirling each other whilst laughing at the fact that neither of them was ever good at dancing but it didn't matter, they were just happy to have each other.

Finn and Milo and Mila were dancing together, like a slow dance with the little girl between them giggling as the three swayed and Adria felt her heart swell at the sight of Blair crying of utter happiness when Remus leaned down and kissed her.

Blair had told her that Remus was so entirely drained and exhausted that they hardly had a relationship, it was just each other's company and any sort of romantic gestures had gone, but that didn't mean she loved him any less, or that she would ever leave him - it just was terribly lonely for her and heart-breaking to watch the boy she loved unable to reciprocate it.

But now he was, he was holding her so close to him, lips on hers and mumbling into her how much he was completely and totally in love with her - that he was so forever grateful for her, and how she didn't even think to leave him even when he was the least of the best company to have.

"Sirius," Adria whispered into his ear, frowning as her eyes stared past him, "what...is that?"

Sirius turned suddenly, following Adria's eyes to see what she was looking for and before he could fully make out what it was, Adria screamed at the top of her lungs, "everybody gets down!"

She yanked Sirius' arm and fell to the ground as the harsh white light barrelled past her and right into a table, completely demolishing it. Her eyes widened, and she shared a look with Sirius, looking around frantically for Jude and seeing him with Finn and Milo who were doing all they could to protect the boy and Mila.

Adria grabbed onto her wand that she had tucked into her band around her waist just in case she needed it, and Sirius had his too, both of them looking for anything. Guests were frantic, and Professors joined them in the middle of the floor - everyone who could perform magic was throwing spells as intruders in dark robes apparated into the park.

She threw the only curses she could think of off the top of her head, allowing the cloaked figures to fall to the ground and her voice was hoarse from screaming and throwing curses and hexes in each and every direction of anyone who looked unfamiliar.

She was trying to protect everyone she could, pushing Benji to the ground when a curse went barrelling past him and Arden jumped in front of him to throw curses in his favour, ordering him to stay down or hide because he was entirely helpless.

It wasn't a battle with guns or machinery or even fists - it was a battle that muggles were entirely helpless in, and so those with magic around them...the majority had to fight for themselves and for the ones that couldn't.

She screamed at Sirius to move out of the way when he was too busy defending James to focus on everything else around him - taunting the hooded figures with James and soon did Adria take matters into her own hands and fully jumped in front of him, her screams deafening when the curse exploded onto her stomach with such excruciating pain that she could hardly see, and she stumbled back with a strangled cry.

"Adria!"

"I'm fine!" she shouted loudly through the pain, whirling her wand around herself so that the dress was temporarily shorter so that she could move easier. She was definitely not fine and knew that as soon as it was over, she would definitely have to find some sort of healer - she could hardly think over the pain, but she was running on adrenaline and courage unlocked by the thought of the people she loved getting hurt.

And then she saw it, and she screamed so loudly that Mila and Jude started crying at the frantic sounds, but she couldn't think of protecting them. Finn and Milo were protecting them, they were protecting Mila.

And so, Adria had to do all she could to protect the girl's parents.

They were at the other side of the park - outnumbered and helpless and it felt like slow motion as she threw curses at those that surrounded them, but then it happened, and she stumbled back that she almost fell, she almost stopped.

The green light that struck her brother right in the chest, and the one that struck her sister in law, too.

She was panting, screaming and running in that direction - and never before in her life had she ever been able to perform such an unforgivable curse because she hadn't ever tried but in that moment, she couldn't help as she screamed it.

"Avada Kedavra!" boomed from her lips, and it was so foreign on her tongue that Sirius' head whipped around.

And the green light sprouted from her wand so forcefully that with such impact, the hooded figure fell to the ground with a thud and a jump.

And all Adria could do in that moment was scream, "Alfie!"
