Dark Beauty - 18.
Chapter 18
"Good morning, Mr Black," Adria whispered, a smile already on her lips even so early in the morning. It was the day after boxing day and even after the initial shock of getting engaged had passed she was still ecstatic. She found herself admiring the ring more times than she thought she would, gazing at it and smiling to herself and Jude wished to try it on - which she was very reluctant about, seeing as she didn't want to take it off -.
She had to go to work for the first time after Christmas and she wasn't very happy about it, of course, it gave her an excuse to show off her ring more - and gush about Sirius - but she wished to stay in bed with him instead. They had spent boxing day in bed for most of it, Jude had gone off to Alfie's to give the two some time alone together, and in the evening, they had announced to their friends that they were getting engaged and it was wonderful.
Adria could hardly keep the smile off of her face and Sirius was the same, it was a way to show their love and also a distraction and they both agreed they wanted the wedding to be soon. Sirius knew that Adria was still thinking of the thought of fighting in the war, she wanted to join Dumbledore's group with Sirius, but he didn't tell her much about what he had to do.
He didn't want to worry her more than she already was, and he knew he would if he told her off how hurt he could get. He had to get Lily or James to clean him up before he went home just so Adria wouldn't see what he endured, he was thankful she wasn't going to fight with their baby in her stomach, but he didn't want her to fight after too, it was always going to be her decision, but it was terrifying and brutal and if one of them where to live through the torture of the dark lord then he wished it would be her.
"Good morning, Miss Hopkins," Sirius whispered quietly, his arm around her waist and a lazy smile on his lips. He reached for her hand, the ring placed on her finger fitting perfectly and the grin on her lips allowing his heart to race. Even after the years they had spent together she was still able to mess with his head with ease, she was simply wonderful, and he didn't know how he was as lucky as he was to have her, but he wasn't and never would complain about it.
"I could be Mrs Black soon," she said, leaning up to kiss him, "Mrs Hopkins-Black. I'd like to keep the Hopkins part too, though, y'know, like a part of my mum and dad."
"What about we give you the Mrs and you keep the Hopkins?" suggested Sirius and she frowned, her eyebrows knitted, and soon did she shake her head. She propped her arms onto his chest, brushing his long hair out of his face and tucking a strand behind his ear whilst he hummed.
"I know you don't want me to have your name, Sirius," she whispered, "because of the pureblood ideals and the hurt and how there are many horrible people with that name, but I want it. The only Black I know is you, Sirius Black, and you are the most wonderful boy in this whole world and it would be an honour to have your name. Adria Hopkins-Black, I think it sounds wonderful and to be called Mrs Hopkins-Black would be wonderful because it means that we are tied together by love and by a bond and it shows in our name.
And you know what, don't you think it would be a little satisfying that your family...the pureblood family with the horrible pureblood ideals is now tied to a muggleborn because you decided to marry me? that there is now a muggleborn with the name Black in their title and it's twistedly good to piss them off that bit more?" she smiled at the sight of his smile and soon did he laugh at the thought, rubbing his eyes and shaking his head.
"That would be twisted," Sirius smirked, tightening his grip around her, "do you know what would make today better?"
"What?"
"You staying with me," he leaned forward, his hand cupping her cheek and his lips finding hers and she hummed, her mouth opening for him and their lips moving together, "please? I know you don't need to go back, you just want to help, it's just one phone call and Jude is at Alfie's all day, so we have it all to ourselves."
She thought for a second, a sigh tumbling from her lips and a smile tugging at the corners and she finally nodded, "I suppose. You know I think my parents would be happy about us getting engaged."
"Well I was able to get the approval from one of your parents," he said, his forehead falling onto hers and her eyes widened.
"You asked my dad?!"
He shook his head, "no, I asked your mum and I'm not the strongest believer in ghosts, but I think she approves."
"What?" she almost laughed though she was terribly confused and at the look on her face he couldn't help his own laughter.
"Can you remember the first time we took Jude to see your mums grave?" he asked, and she nodded, her fingertips tracing small patterns over his bare chest whilst his fingers danced down her bare back, "well when you and Jude left I stayed behind for about five minutes and I asked her."
"Sirius that was so long ago," Adria whispered, her eyes wide and he shrugged. She leaned down to kiss his skin, her lips trailing soft kisses over his chest and up to his jaw whilst he hummed, "you know if this war wasn't over us I think our lives would be really different, but I know we'd still be together and I think that's all that matters to me."
He nodded in agreement, "I think we'd still marry young though, not this young but younger than most anyway. I think we'd have kids younger too, again, not this young, but we'd still be younger."
"Speaking of our child," she whispered. It was hard to believe, and she barely could, the fact that she was pregnant, the fact that she was having a child and with Sirius was mind-blowing to her, but she was happy. Of course, she was terrified, and she knew she was starting to get more of the effects of pregnancy, starting with the morning sickness and backache and Sirius was there for all of it.
He was getting more and more anxious and more times than one was she walking up the stairs and he would just sweet her off of her feet, carrying her up bridal style so she didn't need to. Jude thought it was hilarious and wouldn't stop giggling until Sirius put her down, she thought it was the cutest thing ever to see Jude so happy.
There were also her emotions, and she was a very emotional person but somehow, she was even more emotional than before. Just yesterday was she saying goodbye to Jude and she couldn't stop sobbing when he ran to Alfie without giving her a second kiss goodbye, she didn't know what had come over her, but Sirius had to comfort her for half an hour before she finally stopped crying and actually told him what was wrong.
He wouldn't let it go for hours.
"We need to think of names," she said, taking a deep breath and pressing one more kiss to his chest, "we don't know if it's a boy or a girl, but we have to be prepared I think. Of course, I can't be going into labour and we have nothing, I don't mind if it has a deep and meaningful reason I just want us both to like it."
"Also," he trailed off, "godparents."
"Well, the obvious choice is Lily and James," she said, "but then there's Blair and Remus, and Thea and Peter, and Finn and Milo, and Gully and Tallulah! Course Finn and Milo are baby Eva's godparents, so we can rule them out and Gully and Tal are off travelling right now and don't even know but what about Benji and Arden and Merlin there's Grace and Alfie, too!"
"Course there's also Alina and Jesse and Lia and Ramona if we don't include them they'd get pissed," Sirius snorted, and Adria's head fell onto his chest with a loud groan escaping her lips, "it has to be Lily and James."
"Yes, but then if it has to be them, it has to be Remus and Blair, and we are Mila's godparents so do we need to...return the favour?" she asked, running a hand through her very messy hair.
"I don't think it works that way, baby," Sirius chuckled, leaning up to kiss her forehead, "regardless of who we officially say is the godparents, if anything happened to us, this baby would be so well looked after it doesn't even matter! And who says this is our last?" he winked cheekily, and she scoffed, shaking her head.
"If that's the case, we're gonna have a full house by the time we're thirty," she laughed, a smile on her lips, "I think one is nice, y'know. We have Jude, he's my brother but he's still ours and no one is ever going to take him from us. That's two, and they'll look out for each other, I think that's enough, I mean I don't know, I think if it happened again and it was accidentally then I wouldn't be sad about it, but I just don't know."
"I think if we were to have another one and plan it, we'd wait until after the war," Sirius said, and Adria nodded in agreement, reaching for his hand and lacing their fingers together, "it's terrifying to think that Jude is growing up and he's been brought into the war and so is this baby but we're gonna love them and keep them safe regardless."
"Exactly," Adria nodded, "do you think the baby can have sixteen godparents?"
"I think that's a bit much," Sirius trailed off, "but regardless of picking only two, I think we both know in the long run it will have sixteen."
"I know," she said, "thing is, as much as everyone has an even chance...it has to be Lily and James. As much as the boys are my best friends and my brothers, Lily was my first friend and wasn't James yours? Regardless of all the boys being your best friends and mine too, you met James first and I met Lily first and they're a perfect choice. I think it would be weird if they weren't godparents if I'm being honest, they just have to be.
I love every single one of our friends equally and you know I do and I know you do to but that doesn't change the fact that Lily was my first friend ever, and I know that Benji and Arden and Alfie and Grace and even Alina and Jesse could be godparents but even at that, I just think that Lily and James are the best options."
"There's time to think," Sirius said, "but I agree. I think it's an easy choice to make and if we do have any more kids then yes, we'll have to think more then but it's Lily and James I mean I think everyone is expecting it anyway."
"Exactly," she nodded, "alright, you know even though we don't have Jude, this house is full."
"Well Lia and Alina went to Alfie's too and Benji and Arden are having time to themselves too so not exactly," Sirius said, "it's almost an empty house."
"Oh, the things we could do in an empty house," she teased, pushing herself up with one of their many blankets wrapped around her.
"Well if someone wasn't so loud-"
"Hey!" she exclaimed, turning to glare at the cheeky smirk on his face, "as if you don't love it."
"Oh, I never said that," Sirius said, waiting until she rounded the bed from her side and pulled her hand. She almost dropped the blanket covering her, but Sirius definitely wasn't complaining and with a smirk, he rested his hands on her hips, "you know, I actually do know a charm to make this room soundproof."
"Oh yeah?" she asked, leaning down to kiss him and soon taking a seat on his lap, "have you tried it out before?"
"Hmm, not that I know of," he said, seeing the amused smile on her lips and humming when she dipped her head to his neck.
"Well practice makes perfect," she said, "and how would you know if the spell works if we don't test it out."
She let out a squeal when he turned them over, and there was no point in her getting up in the first-place because he lay her back down again, hovering over her with a glint in his eye and a smirk on her lips, "I like your logic, Miss Hopkins."
She looped her arms around his neck, pulling him down and connecting their lips and soon whispering, "that's Mrs Hopkins-Black to you."
