"There..this should do it." Judith finished sealing off the window and the mirror as well with whatever she found, before jumping into the shower.
She grabbed some of her stuff from her car that was parked outside the cabin she was held hostage in. She still can't believe they went throw her stuff- however, one thing was still untouched. The envelope, which she kept taped under the driver seat was still untouched. It was the most important thing, since she kept most of her money, some ammo and a spare gun. Although she had other guns and money hidden around the car, it looks like they already found them because they didn't bother putting them back. She was glad they didn't find this one, since It was her emergency envelope.
After getting what she needed, she made her way back inside. She felt bitch-face- Tim's eyes following her, he was already outside standing by one of the trees that surrounded the cabin, smoking. She ignored him and got inside.
As she walked around the unfamiliar cabin, her eyes wandered around trying to memorize it and take in every detail she can use later if she needed to. Judith reached the room at the end of the hallway, walked in, and went straight to what she assumed was the bathroom after locking the door behind her, she locked the bathroom door as well.
After making sure the bathroom is anti pervert-proofed, she hopped in the shower with nothing but the cross around her neck.
A long deep sigh left her lips as the water hit her now sore tired body, she made sure to take her time and release all the tension in her body.
After her long shower, Judith finally got out and dried up. She felt good getting out of her tattered, covered in sweat and blood clothes and into new ones. She put on a long sleeve gray shirt and some dark pants. For her shoes, her feet are finally free from the heavy hiking boots, and she put on the only pair of running shoes she had since they're comfortable and her feet need comfort right now.
She stood in front of the bathroom's mirror after taking the shirt she placed over it, she stood there and took in her now much better appearance. "One more thing..."
She reached into her mini makeup pouch she kept, it only had a few items but she didn't need much anyways. She grabbed her favorite lip balm and applied some to her lips. Her chapped lips seemed to come back to life in seconds, and the corners of her mouth twitched into a smile.
She felt good and put together.
After she was done, she let her hair air dry after brushing it and walked out after putting gathering her stuff from the bathroom.
She walked out of the bathroom and into the room, she looked around and there wasn't much around expected of a small single bed, a random armchair placed all the way at the end of the room, and a nightstand.
She stared at the bed for a minute.
"Gross." She said, she shook her head in disgust and thought there was no way she was sitting on that bed- it looked like a normal bed but she doesn't know what kind of activities went on in this room-- that armchair too.
The floor would do, so on the wooden floor she sat with her bag that had her things next to her. She took out a granola bar and chocolate milk she brought back from her car, which she kept in her other bag filled with snacks and food. As she took a bite, she hugged her legs and stared down at the floor, thinking.
'It's unreal how long this task is taking...maybe I did die...did that bastard actually shoot me?..or did I die earlier?..maybe at the previous town...is this...what is that place called- purgatory?......oh my god' she thought.
After she finished eating she sat there for a while, alone with her thoughts.
Judith was thinking about a way to get Chris to tell her about the whereabouts of the tapes, but she also thought of a way she can get rid of him and leave without being noticed by the creeps.
She still didn't know what he meant she won't be going alone, she wished he was more specific because then she might've found a way to plan around it.
Her thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door, her eyes shifted to the door.
She'd ask who is, but then who else could it be? Probably one of the creeps.
She grabbed her bag and stood up then walked to the door unlocking it. There stood Brian.
"You cleaned up good." He commented.
Her nose wrinkled as she rolled her eyes.
"And what is that supposed to mean, Agh. What is it now?" She sighed, one hand resting on her hip.
The man chuckled slightly. "We need to discuss tonight." He said and started walking.
"There's nothing to discuss-" she followed after him. "I'll get you the names of his friends and you can take care of them or whatever. I'll handle Chris and leave." She said.
"Afraid it's not that simple." He mumbled.
"And why not?!"
They walked into the kitchen and he sat down, she was hesitant but ended up sitting across from him. "Tell me why not, I already achieved more alone, and I--"
He crossed his arms and leaned back.
"Because that's our job." He said.
"Huh?" She raised an eyebrow, are they working for a piece of shit demon unwillingly too, or? "Yeah, Who do you even work for--"
"Who do YOU work for?" He threw her question back at her.
Judith shut her hanging mouth and leaned back into the chair crossing her arms, just like him. "Well, I don't think you need to know."
"Good, because you don't either." He shot her a small smile.
"Fine. Then do tell me, how are we going to do this then?" She asked.
"Don't worry, it's simple enough for your brain to understand." Said Tim who just walked in, he leaned against the wall arms crossed instead of sitting down.
She gave brain a look "Just so you know I'm NOT going anywhere with him."
"Aw, don't say I'm starting to enjoy our company." He teased faking a pout.
She stuck her middle finger up at him.
"How about we get this over with, just tell me what are we doing" She said turning her attention back to Brian.
He glanced at his partner before looking back at her. "listen carefully."
An hour of "talking" went by really fast.
There were some objections and arguing- mostly from Judith's side.
But at last, she agreed to their plan. which she thought is very dumb and too troubling.
She made her way out of the cabin and to her car with her bag. She go in and throw the bag in the backseat then rested her head on the wheel letting out a sigh.
"This is dumb..." she mumbled as she rethought their plan.
This can go wrong in so many ways, she thought. Now she started thinking of a plan B for herself, in case it did go wrong.
Hours passed, and Judith spent them in her car, in the backseat. She spent half of the time thinking about the plan, making up her plan B, and the other half doing whatever to pass the time. She held her phone in her hand, it wasn't actually her phone; it was some phone she got when she first started working for Red Eyes.
Nothing, that was what's on there.
No contacts, no messages, no pictures, just nothing. Judith used to love to text and talk on the phone. But now, who is she supposed to contact?
"Why do I even have this.." she mumbled. She was about to turn it off when her contacts came up and she saw a phone number on the screen, but that isn't supposed to be there..there's supposed to be zero numbers, when she clicked on it a name came up.
"What is this-......what the! Are you kidding me-" her lips parted.
She shook her head and turned it off.
She looked up to see the men walking out of the cabin, Tim walked to one of the cars parked outside while Brian made his way to hers. She looked at the sky to see it was getting dark, it was time.
Judith rolled down her window.
"Did you go through my phone!? Why is your number in there and when did you even-"
The man grinned. "There's nothing to go through in it, and a lot happened when you were napping." He said.
"You have no fucking right!! You're such a creep you know that right!?" she scoffed.
The man shrugged without care and Judith dropped it remembering much important things.
"I don't like this idea. Million of things can go wrong you know that right?" She said.
Brian nodded.
"Yes, but if you stuck with the plan then everything will be alright."
"Ugh, whatever..why do I even bother- fine." She rolled her eyes and got out of her car after grabbing her phone and a little purse she filled with anything she might need. She walked away from her car and over to their car instead.
They're driving her out of the woods since she didn't have her way around it and because this insured she won't take off later.
The ride out of the woods was quiet, Judith didn't mind it at all, in fact she appreciated the silence since she used it to gather her thoughts. When they got there it was already dark outside. Tim parked two houses away from the Mitchell's home, they didn't want to raise any suspicion or give anyone the chance to memorize the car.
"Go ahead. Oh and from now-" Brian turned in his seat to look at her. "When we are not Tim and Brian, you refer to us as Masky and Hoodie, got it?" He said.
It took her a minute to comprehend what he just said, and it took everything not to drop dead of laughter. Judith's eyes widened and she slapped a hand on her mouth as she brushed into laughter. "What- oh my god!! HAHAHA- who and what now- Hahahah!! What the fuck!! Oh god- hahah..you two just got even weirder--"
Her laughter was too loud she didn't even hear whatever threat Tim threw at her. But she heard Brian telling her to get out already which she did, still laughing.
"Oh hahaha..ahh good One Brian- really heh.." she wiped off the tears that resulted from her laugh as she closed the car's door after her. The smile stuck to her face, it's been a long while since she last laughed like this.
"Ahh as if the masks weren't enough- ahh haha....how lame..hehe.." she mumbled to herself as she made her way to Chris's house.
Judith tried wiping the smile off her face before ringing the bell, trying to get serious.
She stood there looking down and waited for Chris to open the door.
Minutes later she heard some steps and the door opened, she looked up to see Chris.
"Y-you came!..." he blurted surprised.
"I-uh yeah.." she gave him a little smile.
Chris moved out of the way letting her in then shut the door and locked it. Judith looked back at him over her shoulder, she just noticed the box of tissues he was carrying in one hand, and the bunch of bloodied tissues in the other.
"Is that blood?.." She asked.
Chris glanced at the tissues for a second before looking back at her. "Uh, y-yeah- I've having those stupid headaches all week and now my nose is bleeding...this whole thing is stressing me out....heck my parents are dead man..." he mumbled as he walked past her and into the living room.
Judith followed after him and after they both sat down she spoke up.
"So, why don't you start from the beginning, what is the deal with those tapes you mentioned?"
"U-uh..yeah right, um so I found those tapes...
When I went hiking with my dad two weeks ago...I strayed off the path and came across- you know what it's not really important! I just wish I never picked them up!..maybe then my parents would've still been alive.." he said looking down at his hands.
Judith nodded, technically it wasn't his or those creeps' fault, but hers. She's glad she got to them first though.
"You..it's not really your fault..how would've you known.." she said.
"Yeah, whatever...I know I'm going to be next
I-...I have been-...I just know it." He mumbled.
"But again, how do you know it's the same-"
"I just know okay!.. I know... Please just trust me..e-everyone been calling me crazy!!...I'm not!! And you! Y-you know what I mean right?!..they're out there!..in the woods!"
If Judith didn't happen to run into those creeps, she wouldn't have believed him. But again she works of a literal evil entity- a demon, who'd believe that?
She sighed and nodded.
"Yeah, I believe you...I ran into them too...unfortunately. But anyways, back to the tapes..so you think they want those back?..why?" She truly thought it was none of her business and she wasn't really interested in those tapes, but the curiosity killed the cat.
"What's on them anywa--" Judith paused whatever she was about to say after the loud sound that echoed throughout the house. She turned to look at the Hallway that lead to the stairs, there was a room which you can't see into from the living room, and the sound came from there.
She turned to look at the boy's reaction.
Chris's mouth dropped and he had a look of concern and Confusion on his face.
"What...w-was that..?" He whispered.
Judith took a deep breath and looked back at the direction of the sound. "it was probably.....Yeah, it must be nothing but...Maybe I should...check it out.."
she said as they both stood up.
"What!? A-are you crazy- that's how people die in horror movies!! And what if...what if it was.....them!" Chris argued. "we should call the--"
"No, no no I'm sure it's nothing...but I'll just go take a look okay?..maybe you left a window opened or something..." Judith said as she started heading toward the direction of the noise.
The boy watched as the woman walked away, into the hallway and entered the room.
He stood there waiting for her to yell that there was nothing, or that Chris did leave a window open, or anything...but everything went silent for a couple of minutes.
He decided to break the silence.
"um...J-Judith?..H-HEY ARE YOU-" he shut up almost immediately but the screaming woman who came running back to them.
"SHIT SHIT SHIT!!" Judith screamed as she ran back to them.
"W-what- WHAT IS IT-"
"THEY ARE HERE!! They're here!! RUN!!"
She screamed.
This startled the boy, Chris turned pale real quick and now was panicking.
"W-WHO-"
"THEM!! THE MASKED MEN!!-"
SMASH-
That was the sound of a window breaking.
"N-no no no NO NO-" Chris started freaking out and he ran to the door when Judith grabbed his arm.
"NO!! NO- they're out there! I saw them go to the front!! They're waiting outside!!"
"S-shit we gotta call the cops-"
"NO TIME!! They'll get in before the police get here!!-" she yelled at him. "Upstairs!! We need to get upstairs!!"
Chris without an idea of what to do, nodded. "Y-yes yes upstairs- upstairs we can
hi--......o-oh s-shit..." his jaw dropped as he took a glance over Her shoulder.
Judith followed the boy's wide eyes as she turned around, looking in the direction where the kitchen is.
The moment her eyes fell on the kitchen door she saw a figure standing there.
A white-masked man with a long crowbar in hand, stood there staring back at them.
They all stood there staring at each other, which seemed like the entirety.
Judith was the first one to move, she slowly let go of Chris, who was now trembling like an earthquake. Chris tried to hold back into her, but his shaking hand missed her as she turned giving the boy her back.
Chris took a step back as Judith got in front of him, in a protective position.
"W-what do we do what do we do..." He whispered as he held into Judith's arm.
Judith never broke eye contact with the man, who all of a sudden took a step forward.
That's when she screamed as loud as she can.
"RUN!! UPSTAIRS! UPSTAIRS NOW!!-"
The boy who was frozen in place finally moved, he bolted away from the woman and ran towards the stairs.
Instead of going after the boy, Judith grabbed a table lamp and threw it at the man who came running towards them. Then she sprinted after him, with the man following after her.
Judith tripped a couple of times on the stairs. She made sure the man did the same as she threw the hanging pictures on the wall down at him, trying to buy some time.
"TAKE THIS!! AND THIS!!- OH THIS ONE TOO- bitch-face!!" She yelled.
One of the big picture frames she threw broke and the glass shattered everywhere, her eyes fell on a big shard, she grabbed it immediately thinking she can use it against him, it's a good thing she wore a long-sleeved shirt because she used the end of it to hold the shard, she can feel its sharp edge but it wasn't that deep.
She threw another frame at him as she got away.
Judith finally caught up with the boy who slammed one of the bedroom doors open and rushed inside, He held the door waiting for her but when she got there she shook her head.
"Get in- lock the door and don't open it got?! I'll hold them back--"
"A-are you crazy?! You can't!! He'll--"
"Oh I know how to deal with them, I already escaped them twice- so just stay put okay!?" Judith said before shutting the door herself.
The boy Locked the door and stood there catching his breath, trying to take in what
just- what is happening.
"C-cops-..i-I need to call for help- shit-" He spoke as he started searching his pockets for his phone, which he can't find.
"S-shit!? Where is it?! Where's my phone!!"
The boy's eyes and attention soon darted to the door as he started hearing loud noises coming from the other side of the door.
Thuds, screams, and groans.
He can only imagine what is going on out there.
"AGH!-" That was the final sound he heard before everything went silent.
The boy stood there frozen in fear again, not knowing how to act or what to do.
"J-Judith....." He called in a low voice.
The door's handle turned, and it was followed by a knock.
His eyes searched around the room to find something to use as a weapon.
"Chris..it's me..open up." It was Judith on the other side.
The boy dropped his search and hesitated for a minute. "A-are you...are they-"
"They're gone!..ugh open up dumbass..."
He again was hesitant but as got closer to the door he unlocked the door and opened it.
There stood Judith, with a bruised lip and blood dripping from her right hand.
"I chased them away..." she announced.
"S-shit are you okay-"
"No I'm not, now Move-" she pushed him out of the way and walked in.
Judith Shut the door after her and went to sit on the bed, in what seemed to be Chris's room.
She kept pressing on her bleeding hand as she looked at the boy. "Don't worry...they're gone...not done but gone..." she said.
Chris fell on the floor next to her.
"T-they..." he looked up at Judith. "I-It's him!! O-one of the men in the- shit shit I told you they're coming for me!! Fuck!!"
He ran his hands through his hair as he paced around the room in panic. "The- the cops!!...w-we need to call them and-"
"How dumb are you? The cops?" Judith asked.
"What? What else are we supposed to do! We were just attacked!! We need to--"
Judith looked at him. "Didn't you say, that those people can be responsible for other...incidents in town?.." she asked.
Chris, who was nipping on his finger looked at her and stopped pacing. "H-huh-...y-yes- I mean no I don't know!..but they have to be!... Right!?.."
Judith nodded.
"Then, why didn't they catch them by now? Or at least forced those incidents to stop, hm?"
Chris who is now confused shook his head as he started pacing around the room again.
"T-that makes no sense...I'm sure they're-"
"Don't you find it odd that those bastards didn't stop after killing your parents?" She said. "They are not Scared of getting caught...you wanna know why?.."
The boy stopped once again and looked at her. "W-why.." asked Chris.
"Because one of them is a cop."
"What?"
"You heard me. One of them- maybe even more than one works for the police...I saw it with my own eyes, back in the woods one of them rode in a police car....how do you explain that?"
Chris's head fell into his hands.
"N-no way..."
He was taken back but he had a hard time believing that. "N-no..it can't be- you must've seen something else because it can't be- we know the cops!?"
"My f-friend Ethan! His dad is is a cop! We can go to him!! He will--"
Judith stood up "Listen, you go ahead and do that. That one cop might help you but it will never end up how you think it would, there's a bad apple in there and he's going to make sure it all goes away." She said "And I'm not going to wait for things to get to that...for them to come after me, Chris I tried to help you but I'm done. If you won't listen to me then go ahead but I'm leaving town first thing in the morning, you are on your own kid-"
Chris jumped to his feet.
"N-no!...no d-don't go, please!! I still n-need your help please!" The boy begged.
"I d-don't know what to do!!..I-I don't want to die- you have to help me!"
Chris thought about it, he's still having a difficult time accepting the idea of a bad cop or even multiple cops in town, but he and everyone else is aware something has been going on here for a while. The boy reached a point now where he has no idea what to do, he is all alone now without guidance, and the only person he feels like he can trust is the woman standing in front of him. He only met this woman this morning, she was a stranger but a stranger that believed him and just saved him. He gave up and decided to put all of his trust in the woman.
"T-then...what do you t-think we should do?" He asked, surrendering his fate into her hands.
Judith looked at the boy.
'So it worked after all', she thought.
