Chapter 9

BEFORE YOU LAUGH AT THIS DRAWING--Picture of Sasuke from my EARLY drawing days. He looks kinda scary...
And yes, the curse mark is on the wrong side.
I wasn't that good at drawing back then. I drew on lined paper way too much:p
That's probably why most of my pictures don't last too long.

You're gonna find out something about Kakashi soon!!! And I'm not telling you yet!!!

Please enjoy;)

Sasuke's POV

"Alright," Kakashi smirked. "Let's see what you can do, Sasuke."

Sasuke wasn't the least bit worried. He'd trained his whole life on speed and stamina, not to mention his body was built for that type of stuff.

He was strong, but the others might be able to beat him in terms of brute strength. Not that it mattered. He was quick and clever enough to defeat them all.

Without warning, Naruto rushed him. That fool, Sasuke thought. Did he really think a head on attack would work?

He easily side-stepped, but the blond had other ideas. He pulled to a quick stop, kicking out at Sasuke's feet. Sasuke leapt into the air, coming down behind Naruto, who then disappeared behind him.

Sasuke whipped around and punched Naruto so fast, he barely had time to react.

"Wha--oof!!" Naruto cried, falling. "Man, you're fast! Guess it's time to get serious, huh!"

Sasuke glanced around. Sakura and Kakashi had teamed up against Sai, who still for some reason was smiling as he twisted and dodged.

Good. Hopefully no one would interfere so he could focus on pounding this dobe to a pulp.

Naruto stood back up, grinning crazily. "Aaaaalriiiight!!! Let's go! I'm gonna be Hokage someday, so I'll never lose to you, believe it!"

"Hokage?" Sasuke said coldly. "You mean the leader of this village? Well, let me tell you something. You've got a long way to go if you ever want to gain that title. You couldn't even block a single punch. You're pathetic."

The grin slowly slid off of Naruto's face. "You know something?" He said quietly. "You really GET ON MY NERVES!" He once again launched himself at Sasuke head-on, moving faster than Sasuke would have expected. He narrowly managed to dodge his blow, sweeping his leg down in a kick that sent Naruto flying once again.

Naruto lay sprawled in the dirt a few feet away. Sasuke sneered with contempt. The poor fool.

Naruto slowly picked himself up off the ground. "But you know something else?"

Sasuke raised an eyebrow. "What?"

That obnoxious grin was returning. "I also really like you!"

Sasuke snorted. "You shouldn't." He flew at Naruto, throwing kicks and punches so fast, all Naruto could do was dodge, desperately trying to avoid the hard blows.

Even without the sharingan, Sasuke could practically predict his next moves. Naruto relied mostly on his strength, he noticed. He would throw all his weight into his attacks. His speed was decent, but there was no way it matched his. Naruto's stamina, however, was something to be admired. He was sure of his attacks, not slowing down as the fight dragged on.

Sasuke was curious to see Naruto in a real battle, using both ninjutsu and taijutsu, the former in particular. He suspected the blond was powerful in that area. Naruto would probably be a challenging opponent, although he'd never admit it.

There was something else that slightly disturbed Sasuke. It was the massive amount of pure energy and chakra that seemed to radiate from Naruto while he fought. It didn't dwindle in supply at all. He narrowed his eyes, suddenly wanting this fight to be over. Seeing a sudden opening, Sasuke pulled back his fist, launching it with full power at Naruto's head.

A woosh of air sounded behind him. Sasuke's eyes widened marginally as he cut his blow short, throwing himself out of the way. Kakashi's kick slammed into the ground from where he had been standing milliseconds before.

Kakashi laughed. "Keep on guard, Sasuke. I told you this was a free-for-all."

Sasuke merely scowled in response, as Naruto rose to his feet. "Woah, you nearly had me there! Thanks Kakashi-sensei!"

"I wouldn't be thanking me if I were you, Naruto." Kakashi smirked, before running at him.

"Whaaaaa-HOLD ON KAKASHI-SENSEI, I'M NOT READY!!!"

Sasuke frowned, watching the screaming ninja being chased by his teacher. How pathetic.

Another woosh of air sounded behind him. Not again, he thought, leaping up into a tree out of the way of his attacker.

A small crater was left in the ground from Sakura's punch. "And that's without using my chakra," she called up to him cheerfully.

Huh, he thought. Who would expect such a fragile looking girl could do so much damage?

"You know, this game is getting a bit tiring," he said quietly. "Why don't I finish it?"

Sakura's eyes narrowed. "What do you mean?"

He disappeared, reappearing behind her. "This." He said, his voice cold.

"Oh--" she gasped in surprise, feeling his fingers skillfully press into the pressure points on the back of her neck. She immediately fell to the ground, unable to move. He didn't bother catching her.

Moving faster than the human eye could see, he easily did the same to both Naruto and Sai, leaving them both lying flat on their backs, mouths open in surprise.

Kakashi looked at him steadily, the only one still standing. "It looks like we have a winner."

"Good, can I leave now, Kakashi-sensei?" Sasuke asked in a mocking tone. He'd deduced his teammate's skills. Unfortunately, they didn't have many. There was no further reason for him to stay.

"...Yes, I suppose you can, Sasuke." Kakashi sighed. Suddenly, he grabbed Sasuke by the shoulder and pulled him roughly behind a tree, out of sight from his still immobilized teammates. Sasuke immediately lashed out, trying to break Kakashi's hold, but something made him freeze in place.

Kakashi had lifted up his forehead protector, exposing his left eye.

Sasuke openly gaped. "How--what--"

"Listen to me," Kakashi said gravely. "You can trust me. Understand?"

"But how do you have--"

"Now is not the time," Kakashi said firmly. "I'll explain later. I just thought you should know. That's it. You can leave now. I'll...free your teammates."

All Sasuke could do was nod dumbly, still in shock.

Lifting a hand into the air, Kakashi signaled with one finger. Two masked men suddenly materialized from the trees. Sasuke started. He hadn't even noticed them there. They must have been hiding their chakra, and were obviously skilled, seeing how he hadn't even noticed.

"These two ANBU will shadow you, making sure you get home...safely." Kakashi told him pointedly.

"Of course they will," Sasuke muttered, still processing what he had just seen, as he turned and walked away.

Kakashi's POV

Kakashi walked down the long, dark hallway to the Hokage's office that night. Stopping at the door, he lifted his hand and gave a single knock.

"Come in," a voice rang out from inside.

He opened the door and stepped into the room. Tsunade was sitting in the middle of a pile of paperwork.

"Lot to do?"

"Ugh...you have no idea. But Shizune will be on my case if I don't get some of this paperwork done." Tsunade moaned. "I'm already exhausted."

"Look, I wanted to talk to you about something." Kakashi said.

"And what may that be?"

Kakashi lifted his headband from his eye for the second time that day.

Tsunade raised her eyebrows. "Yes...of course, the special ocular jutsu that only you have, and that you still haven't disclosed to anyone what it is exactly...what did you call it again?Sharingan?"

"Yes. I wanted to discuss this with you. It relates to the boy, Sasuke. But for you to understand it, you first need to know the story behind how I obtained it." Kakashi said.

"It relates to Sasuke? You mean who he is? Or what he is?" Tsunade asked, intrigued.

"Correct. I swore I would never say a word on the subject. But it seems that to better understand Sasuke, you should know. It all happened about ten years ago..."

Dramatic cliffhanger! Sorry people, but I'm like that:p

What do you think Kakashi is going to talk about? Any guesses? I'm still working on the small details, so your answers might inspire me:)
