Interrogation?
As I was marched up the many, many flights of stairs, I got to admire some of the amazing splendours designs of the palace.
Don't get me wrong, I was still extremely anxious about going to see the king, but there was just something about the art of it all that gave me this sense of calmness. Especially the painting with the black and white circle on it.
While on the last flight of stairs up, I could hear King Ubel raging from inside the throne room. As the gaurds opened the double doors, I saw King Ubel for the first time. He was a large man with a scruffy tone and, from his appearance, he look as if he enjoyed every excess his position granted him.
" Come In!" The King yelled it was apparent he was not in a good mood today. "Let's just get this over with" he muttered. "Your Majesty" the head gaurd said as the other gaurds gave me quick shove to the ground, " This young girl has shown potencieal of being the future the Helia".
"The Helia?" The King quenstioningly , eying me over intently. "Are you sure?" he asked the head gaurd. "Well sir, her hair is the colur is pure black and white..." the first gaurd started. " I can see that!" the king quinkly inturupted. "Anything else of notice? Like, I don't know, did you ask her her name, or anything else by chance?" "uhhhhh, well no sir." the gaurd replied nervously. "Have you even interagated her?!" "No sir." the gaurd replied nervously. Now I was getting really nervous too. What was interagation? It sounded scary. "Well then" King ubel replied with a sudden Erie calmness in his voice " let's begin..."
So the "interrogation" had started. I was really scared what was going to happen, but it turned out not to be that scary at all. First the king just asked me some simple questions like " what's your name?", "how old are you?", "where do you live?". There was a scribe in the back corner writing down everything I said, so I tried to answers truthfully. Then they started asking me more about magic. The king asked me things like what do you know about magic?, would you assume it's dangerous? I was more cautious telling him about magic because I knew what he thought of " magical beings" as Mama called them. This went on for a few hours. Finally he asked " Do you know anything about a prophecy?"
Now I was confused. I tried to think of any prophecies I had heard. "No" I answers. That seemed to get the king enraged. "Truly!" the king half said half screamed " you can't have heard nothing about the prophecy!" If I wasn't still being held on the ground on my knees, i would have step back at that comment.
The king stepped back and slouched in his throne as if he was tired from all the talking. "That's it." The king finally said " I can't brake her, take her back to her cell. The guards then lifted me up and again half dragged me half escorted me to my cell. However, I had been sitting so long, I had forgot how much my legs really hurt.
Once we got back down the long and winding staircase they roughly threw me in my cell. "Wait!" I called out after the last guard. He looked at me like he was ready to put a big piece of tape over my mouth for the night. "What!" he finally replied. "What are they going to do to me?" " I don't know, according to the prophecy, the only way to stop you is to kill you." The guard answered. He was so calm while saying it, it was so erie. You would think he no longer cared if anyone died anymore.
I was shocked at the thought of death. I don't know why; my mother had warned me many times about what would happen if the the palace guards of Ridet caught me. And all because I decided not to wait for my mama to get the invisibly cloak. Why didn't I just wait!? It wouldn't have been that hard, and then we could have avoided all this! Then I thought of how mama would be feeling right now. Would she even care if I was gone? I didn't know what to do with myself anymore. All I wanted to do was cry. And honestly, I don't think I could do much else.
I sat there in that corner for another 3 hours or so just sorting out my thoughts. How foolish I had been. But then I heard a tap on the bars of my window. I walked over to see who it was and and felt like I was going to burst with joy...
