Seyeght (Part 14)
MONDAY MORNING
The same dream haunted me that night, and Mom and Dad woke me up once again. I apologized for having nightmares and they said that I shouldn’t apologize and that is was natural. I had a feeling- once again, that the nightmare was not just that simple. It felt real even though all dreams did, but this one was a different kind of real. It was like I could really see. Everything was clear and easy to decipher. I knew for a fact that the woman was hostile, but I didn’t know why. I got up slowly, not having anything to do today, or the next for that matter. I was in the middle of my summer break and I had absolutely nothing to do. I was free, and the only person who had responsibilities at the beginning of the week was Dad. He had today off for some reason. I think he took a personal day.
I put on running clothes and asked Mom and Dad if I could go jogging. They seemed very surprised at my request, as I had never asked before. But I had never done it and a lot of people here did, so I wanted to try. They agreed and gave me the basic safety instructions as usual and gave me a large bottle of water.
I went out of the house, going around to the back and doing some stretches I had seen people do on TV. I then ran away from the fence into the green field that stretched on forever. The only markings I had to judge my distance were trees, and there were only a few. I ran past three large oaks and slowed to a jog. My legs brushed the tall, overgrown grass and the sun was working its magic on me and everything surrounding me. I reached a maple tree and sat down, leaning against it. My mind wandered back to the letter, my conversation I had last night, the dreams, everything. I picked apart blades of grass as I thought. I thought of Him and Her, and their questions and answers. “We did not say special meant good.” My mind settled on that phrase. By that, I pretty much understood how I got the letter. They worked in an organization that sent important letters to important people. I assumed their organization was called “sIght” or something along those lines, but I didn’t care about that. Apparently someone was going to send a letter to someone who would use the information/power in an irresponsible way. Someone in sIght knew that and sent the letter to someone else: A random address that, by Fate, was mine. I groaned at the ridiculousness of the situation. This kind of thing happened in books, movies, TV shows, stories. None of which are real. I got back up and began jogging back to the house, trying to think of something- anything else.
