Chapter~ 10 'Long Time No See.'
Chapter~ 10 'Long Time No See'
Once I opened my eyes, exhaustion immediately hit me from head to toe. I stayed in bed for a few minutes before deciding it was time to get ready for work. It was seven o'clock in the morning and our shift in Starbucks starts at nine, which gives us enough time to get ready. I went into the bathroom to do my morning rituals and then made my way to the kitchen for a delicious breakfast. Surprisingly, I found Jessica sitting on the counter, drinking tea and texting.
"Good morning," I greeted.
"Morning! What woke you up so early?" She asked.
"I think I'm the one who's supposed to be asking you that."
"My alarm woke me up without permission. And you know me, if something wakes me up, I can't fall asleep once more."
Yes, Jessica's right in that point. I have the same problem, sadly. Waking me up isn't something easy, but getting me to falling back to sleep is something even harder. And if I happen to wake up unwillingly, I get extremely moody. And trust me, you don't want to mess with moody me, because the consequences can be ghastly.
"Yeah. Anyways, who are you texting?"
"Dad," She simply replied, shrugging.
Jessica is really close to her dad. Ever since Jessica's mom passed on, she and her Dad became closer than ever before. My heart was aching for Jessica. It took her quit a long time to adjust to her life without her mother. However, she was strong nonetheless the amount of tears she shed. And I was very proud of her.
Thinking of family, I was in need of hearing Mom and Maya's voices. I miss them terribly.
"Oh, tell him I say hi. Will you make me breakfast?"
"Sure and nope!" She said popping the 'P'.
"Sure to making me breakfast?" I asked, confused.
"Nope," She retorted.
"Nope to what? Making me breakfast? Or saying hi to your father?"
"To making you breakfast, idiot." She rolled her eyes, still texting.
"Pretty please?" She shook her head
"Pretty please with whipped cream on top?" I gave her my puppy dog eyes.
"Sorry, Hun." I began to get angry.
"Pretty please with whipped cream and cherry on top?" I gritted my teeth impatiently, giving her a bittersweet smile.
"Make it yourself."
"Come on! I wanna call mom. And I have to do it now because by the time I finish with her, I'll have to rush and gobble up all my food to dress up for the shift. Please, Jess? "
"Fine. But you owe me breakfast tomorrow."
"Okay! Thank you!" I hopped to the living room happily, picking up my phone and dialing my Mom's number.
"Hello. Izzy?"
"Mom!" I exclaimed, happily.
"Maya, it's your sister! Isabella, darling! How are you doing? Are you eating well? Is everything okay? Where are you living?"
"Mom! Mom! Calm down! I'm fine! In fact, I feel amazing!" I laughed before sighing in content. "Mom, you have no idea what happened this week. I've had the most amazing time of my life! Remember the boy band I was obsessing over the past three years?"
"Honey, that's great to hear! Ah, yes. What was the band's name again? Wonder Action?"
I cracked up, laughing hysterically. Oh my God, she did not just call them Wonder Action.
"Now, now. Stop laughing at your forgetful mother. Was that not their name?"
I sobered up before replying. "No, Mom. Their name isn't W- wonder Action. It's One Direction." I started laughing again.
"Oh. It was close though, wasn't it?" She laughed along with me.
"No, Mom. Just another Mondegreen there. Sounds the same but is completely different."
"Well then, before the curiosity gets the best of me, what happened with One Direction ?"
"Well, we met them in Starbucks, which is the place we work in, by the way. Oh, Mom. It was one intense meeting. They're amazing! They're like, even more amazing than I knew they were."
"Oh, my baby! I'm so happy for you! You even got a new job! I'm so proud of you, Isabella."
"Thank you, Mom."
"Oh, I almost forgot! The sweet sixteen dress I gave you looked great on you, darling. You looked absolutely beautiful."
"Awe, thank you- Wait. How did you know I wore it?"
"It's all over YouTube! I'm so proud of you!"
"What?" I rushed into my room before hurriedly opening my laptop. Jessica rushed into my room with a worried expression written on her face.
'What's wrong?' She mouthed. I pointed at my laptop, still in shock of what I heard.
My eyes widened and my jaw dropped from what I saw next.
Why am I at the top of the 'Popular' page?
"Mom, is that really me?!" I screamed.
"Yes, darling! Look at you!" Mom's voice boomed, happily.
"Oh my dear God. What the freaking frack are you doing on YouTube?!" Jessica screamed, jumping up and down in excitement.
"I cannot believe this!"
"Save that until you see how many views you have!"
I scrolled down.
No to the way.
"Three million views already?!" I screamed even louder this time.
"Now, take a glance at the comments. Guess who has fans, now?"
@KatherineJoe: This is better than the actual song! This girl is really gifted!
@KimberlyHuston: Can someone tell me why she isn't famous? :O
@DavidHunter: Woah! She is reaaaally good. *__*
"Mom, I think I'm in tears," I whispered.
"You don't know how proud I am of you, Izzy. Here, Maya wants to talk to you."
"I really wanna talk to her, too."
"Izzy!" Maya screamed. This is when I realized I missed her voice, her annoying behavior, her everything.
"Mayo!" I teased.
"Don't call me that!" I can imagine her pouting, cutely.
"Why, Mayo?"
"Listen, I don't have time for arguing now."
"Who are you and what have you done to my sister?" I teased her more, amused at her maturity.
She giggled. "I'm here! But this time more mature!"
"Yeah, try that."
"You became famous, yeah?"
"Being on YouTube doesn't mean I'm famous, Maya."
"Yeah, sure," she said, extending the 'sure'. "What about the three million views and the positive comments? Normal too, right?
I sense sarcasm. From a six year old child.
"Yes, many people get these."
"Only if they're really good. And that applies to you, too."
"Maybe, maybe not."
"Whatever floats your boat, Izzy." She chuckled. "Congratulations, either ways. I'm happy you're my sister."
My jaw dropped in awe. I almost teared up from her cuteness.
"Thank you, Maya. I'm happy you're my sister, too. Please focus on your studies and drawings, okay? I want to see you an amazing artist when you grow up. I believe in you."
"Okay, I promise. I love you, Izzy!"
"I love you more, Maya! Will you please hand the phone to Mom?"
"Here," I heard her say.
"So, honey, take care of yourself please. Oh, and send Jessica my regards."
"Okay, Mom. Will do. You too, okay? I'll talk to you soon. Bye! I love you!"
"I love you, too!" The line went dead.
It's really amazing how happy you can get while talking to the people you love. Even if you were sad, or even broken, they always cheer you up no matter what. That's why you should never get them for granted.
"Breakfast is ready!" Jessica announced, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Thank you, thank you, and thank you!" I hopped happily into the kitchen, unable to wait any longer to stuff my tummy with food that'll satisfy my ravenous self.
My eyes wandered around the kitchen until it fell on a pancake and a piece of fried bacon.
"I gonna go take a shower and get dressed for work," Jessica said.
"Jeez, thank you. You made me a pancake and a piece of bacon while I'm here, starving to death!"
She just chuckled and said, "You're welcome!" Then, she left me all alone.
What a generous best friend I have.
I grabbed a bottle of fresh orange juice and poured it into a cup. Then, I walked to the counter, settling down to eat the feast my best friend made me.
~*~*~
"Good morning. How may I help you?" I asked a teenage.
"Morning. A small cu-" Her eyes widened in shock. "Isabella?" She looked up.
Oh, God.
"Margret?"
"Margret! Look at tha-" a girl behind the totally unexpected Margret, said. But then, she looked at me.
Double Oh, God.
"Isabella?" She asked, her head tilting to the side.
"Taylor?"
What are they doing here? Together? I thought they fought.
"Not to be rude or anything, but what are you doing here? Both of you, together." I might have sounded mean and rude, but can you really blame me? That was all that came in my mind now.
"Oh! We came here for a three-week break. And Taylor? Well, she changed!" Margret answered. Taylor nodded with a fake smile.
A really fake smile.
"Oh, good to hear! So what do you wan-" I got interrupted by my phone ringing.
"And then we're like Na Na Na, then we're like Yeah Yeah Yeah." I checked the caller ID.
It was Liam. And of course, Taylor, the nosy, nosy Taylor, leaned in to see who was calling.
"Liam?" She asked. "Oh my God! Is that Liam Payne?!"
"What? No! Is there only one Liam in this world? It's a- um, friend! Yes, a friend!" I lied.
"Oh. Well, then," she replied. But she didn't really seem convinced.
"We would like to order two small-"
"And then we're like Na Na Na, then we're li-"
Come on! Who is it now?
The Irish one, Niall.
"Oh my God, is that Niall? It must be Niall Horan! Answer it!" Margret squealed.
"Actually-"
"Come on! Answer it already! It might be something im-" Jessica spoke as she made her way to the counter. Then, she stopped on her tracks, probably shocked from the picture in front of us. The people we never expected to see again. The people we at least, never expected to see together. Taylor and Margret. T and M, as we used to call them.
"Taylor? Margret?" She questioned. She looked as puzzled as I was.
"Yes, it's us. Isabella will explain to you. We already told many people." Margret answered. Great, I will have to explain everything to Jessica. She turned to face me, asking for an explanation.
"Later," I mouthed. She nodded and asked me a question I wish she didn't. At least not in front of the girls.
"So, Niall was calling. Do you think they're back from the interview?" I gave her a death glare, wishing I'd sent her the message that we don't need them to fake obsess over the boys and scare them off. But being the stupid Jessica she is, she didn't get my message. Instead, she looked confused for why I glared at her and continued.
"So it is Niall Horan! Oh my God! Can we meet them too, please?" Margret asked. I was going to say something. But Jessica the Great interrupted.
"I-I guess so," She hesitated.
Why? Are their innocent looks that deceiving?
She is going to regret it.
The phone started ringing again. This time it was Louis. Sighing, I pressed answer.
"Are you freaking stupid? We were dead worried about you! Where the hell are you?" God, he is so loud!
"Louis, calm down. We're working. It's a Monday morning, remember?" I say calmly, almost whispering. I really don't want Taylor and Margret knowing that I'm best friends with One Direction.
"Oh, but still! We were worried!"
"Louis William Tomlinson-" I said, until Taylor squealed.
She never really liked them! Just because they're really here, she acts excited.
I hate hypocrites.
"Calm down, or else," I threatened.
"Or else what?" He asked more calm now.
"You won't be having the carrot cake I promised. Not even a bite."
* Flashback*
We were back from the club, after the 'Louis dragging me to stage' incident. That night, we went to back into our flat for a movie night and a sleepover.
"I feel like having carrot cake!" Louis whined, after watching the scene where a carrot cake was served. I could swear I saw him drooling.
"That should be Niall saying that," Delilah commented.
"Yeah, I'm with her in that," Perrie followed and we nodded in agreement.
"Hey, don't mess with Carrot King!" Eleanor defended him. We all raised our hands in mock surrender.
"Yes, Ma'am!" We said before we all started laughing.
"But seriously, I do feel like having a carrot cake!" He whined again.
"Well, Isabella is a great baker. She can make you one!" Jessica suggested.
"I can make you one. But will I?" I teased.
"Please?" He made an adorable puppy dog face, showing off his blue orbs.
"Only in one condition."
"Anything!" He grinned.
"You will never drag me on stage again," I demanded.
"Fine. You were amazing out there, though!"
*End of Flashback*
"Oh, no please! I'll calm down now."
"Good boy!" I can already imagine him rolling his eyes.
"Yes, you got that right. Now, would you girls want to go to the beach with us today?" He asks.
"Beach? I-" I try to protest but Jessica refused to let me continue.
"Give me this." She grabbed the phone from my hands.
"But-" I tried to argue.
"Yes, we'll come! We have two other friends who would like to meet you. Yes, three is fine. Okay, see you!" She pressed end.
Two friends? Did she forget?
Great. Now, we're going to the beach. Guess with who? Yeah, you already know it's the boys. But who else? T and M. Taylor and Margret. The people who used to bully us.
