7-Lipstick Smudges

~~Ashley POV~~
Rachel, Emily, Alec, Patrick, Hunter and I were all sitting in a park by me and Hunter's neighborhood.
"I'm so bored," Patrick groaned and I nod in agreement.
"If you have any suggestions please share," Rachel said.
We all think for a few minutes before Patrick speaks. "I've got it! Alright, here's the plan: everybody goes home to get ready for a few hours before we all meet back here. Then, we're going to go to the fair tonight and have some fun, sound good?"
We all nod and I smiled. I hadn't been to a fair since I was little. "Rachel, want to help me get ready?" I ask and she smiles and rolls her eyes.
"Do you even have to ask?"
I laugh and then turn to Emily. "Are you coming?"
She nods and we head off.
"Bye, boys," I wave as we walk away and they all mutter their replies except for Hunter who just sits there.
~~~~~~
Rachel was braiding my hair into a fishtail while I was sitting in front of the mirror. When she finished I applied a little bit of mascara and went to get dressed.
I put on a white, stylish tanks top, black leggings, a pull-over gray sweater, and some knee-high brown boots.
Rachel was wearing black leggings and a cropped long sleeve sweater and Emily was wearing a white skirt with a blue strapless top tucked in.
We headed out of the house and walked to the park only to see that the boys were already there.
"Thank God! You guys take forever!" Patrick sighs as he gets up to walk to the car.
I steal a glance at Rachel and see she is eyeing Dean and I giggle.
"Two people are going have to squeeze together in the trunk," Patrick says.
"I'll do it," Hunter and I say at the same time. I give him a look and he smirks.
I groan as Hunter and I squished tightly against each other in the trunk. It was getting really awkward because I was basically leaning on him and the only way for his arms to be comfortable was to wrap them around me, or so he says.
Patrick starts the car and Hunter whispers in my ear. "Knock, knock."
"Who's there?" I answer playing along with his joke.
"I'll do."
"I'll do who?"
"I'll do you, sweetheart," he says with a smirk.
I turn around to give him a disgusted look which only makes him smirk more.
The smirk. God, I hate and love that smirk so much.
~~~~~~
We arrive at the fair about ten minutes later. I practically leap from my spot because I was in comfortable, but I did miss the way Hunter's arms wrapped around me. I felt...Protected.
We go on dozens of rides and I make sure to eat as much junk food as I can.
I was about to take a giant bite of cotton candy when it disappears. Annoyed, I look up to see Hunter eating my cotton candy.
Eventually, he gives it back but almost all of it was gone. I frowned. "You owe me another cotton candy," I whine as I eat the rest.
Hunter snorts. "Yeah, whatever."
I ignore his comment and look up in awe. "Let's do the Ferris wheel!" I squeal at everyone.
Hunter wraps his arm around my shoulders and winks down at me. "No problem, sweetheart. Let's go together."
My face falls. "I didn't mean with you," I whine.
"Aw, sweetheart. I know you're acting sad in front of everyone else but it's okay, we're alone now. You can admit that you want to go with me," he says with his infamous smirk.
I grit my teeth in annoyance. "It's not an act," I manage to let out through my clenched teeth.
"Shh, it's okay, sweetheart," he says ignoring me.
About five minutes later Hunter and I were boarding our cage. The guy working locked the door and gave me a wink before leaving.
"So unprofessional," I heard Hunter mutter under his breath and I laugh.
The Ferris wheel starts and I gasp as I see the view from up top.
"Think it's pretty?" Hunter asks and I nod. "Almost as pretty as you, sweetheart."
I laugh. "Another pickup line?"
"You got it," he winks.
I turn around to face Hunter and smile when I see that he's already staring at me. "What?"
He leans in and I stop breathing. What is he doing?
He leans closer.
Is he going to kiss me?
He leans closer.
Uh, somebody, please help.
He leans in close enough that out lips are barely apart.
He can't kiss me! I don't like him like that and that's not a part of the deal! I didn't know he could do that!
Just as it looks like he's about to kiss me he moves his head and speaks. "You have lipstick on your teeth, sweetheart," he whispers in my ear and pulls away with a smirk.
I quickly wipe my teeth with my finger and look away in embarrassment.
"You thought I was going to kiss you," he says smugly.
"I did not!" I fire back.
He chuckles. "You so did."
"Did not."
"Did too."
"Did not."
"Would you like me to?"
I pause for a second. "No."
"Haha, you hesitated. You want me, admit it," he says smirking.
"Oh, God no," I say. "You're the last person I would want to be with."
"Mhm. Even if I was the last person on the planet? Even if it would save the human race?" He asked.
I nodded. "Even then."
"Whatever. We both know you're lying," He says laying back on the cage wall.
A few minutes later, Hunter and I were back on the ground and walking and chatting with everyone else.
"Where's Emily?" I ask.
"She went to go get a drink somewhere. Dean went with her," Rachel said with a twinge of jealousy in her voice.
I nodded and didn't think much of it.
"Hey guys," Emily said walking up with a red drink in her hand. "Where are we going now?"
"I'm getting really tired," Rachel said with a yawn and I agreed.
"Alright, let's walk back to the car and get you ladies home," Patrick said as he walked off with Alec in tow.
We all walked in silence for a few minutes before Emily tripped on a rock. As she was falling her drink went flying and hit me right in the stomach. My white shirt now had a big red blotch on it.
I cursed and bent down to help Emily up. "Are you alright?" I asked and she nodded.
"I'm so sorry about your shirt, I feel horrible!" Emily said looking crestfallen.
"Oh no, it's okay, don't worry about it," I say with a smile. Now I was going to have to spend the entire car die covered in sticky liquid. Great.
"Here," Hunter said behind me. He pulled off his sweatshirt. When he did, his shirt rode up a bit and you could see his V-line and I almost drooled at the sight. "Take my sweatshirt, I'm not cold."
I took his sweatshirt and pulled it over my head. It was the most comfortable thing I had ever worn. And it smelled amazing, it smelled like Hunter. I breathed in the scent before thanking him and heading out to the car.
~~~~~~
Patrick dropped me and Hunter off in our neighborhood with a quick goodbye before he sped off.
I walked up to my front door with my keys when I realized that Hunter was still behind me. "Why are you still here?"
He shrugged. "I figured you wanted to get changed and I'm going to need my sweatshirt back so I'll just wait. Besides, I can easily get home from your room," he winked and I shook my head in amusement.
We climbed the stairs to my room. I quickly grabbed a T-shirt and some shorts before heading into the bathroom to change. I came out about a minute later. I threw my dirty clothes in the hamper and held onto Hunter's sweatshirt. "Here you go," I say holding it out to him.
Instead, he ignores me and walks over to my window and opens it. He's halfway out when he turns around and says, "You keep it. It looks better on your anyway."
I highly doubt that but I smile anyway. "Thanks, Hunter."
"No problem, sweetheart. Just try not to think of me too much when you're holding it," he says as he takes the last step out of the window and leaps onto the neighbor's roof and eventually through his own window. He turns around and gives me a wink before shutting the window and turning off the lights.
