Chapter Three - ♪ Preparing For Goldenglow Estate ♪
Brynjolf took her through a cabinet, which wasn't a cabinet. It was a hidden door, and led to another real door. More sewers. Brynjolf opened this door and what Dar'Elaraya saw over his shoulder wasn't too different from the Ragged Flagon. However, she saw a man in black leather armor standing in the center of the cistern on an elevated intersection. Then she realized who he was and why he seemed important. Brynjolf had said he was taking her to see the guild master. It would be his decision whether to accept Dar'Elaraya or toss her out, even after she had helped Brynjolf in the market place, even with the failure, and got the gold owed by three of the locals. This made her tail twitch with nervousness, and she thanked Azurah that these men knew nothing of the Khajiiti body language.
Brynjolf spoke first. "Mercer? This is the one I was talking about... our new recruit."
When Mercer responded, he was uncaring and exasperated. "This better not be another waste of the Guild's resources, Brynjolf." Then he turned towards Dar'Elaraya. "Before we continue, I want to make one thing perfectly clear. If you play by the rules, our rules, you walk away rich. You break the rules and you lose your share. No debates, no discussions... you do what we say, when we say. Do I make myself clear?" he added, as if he was a hard-to-please general and Dar'Elaraya was a very hard-to-train soldier.
"Yes, I understand," Dar'Elaraya replied with the same terse tone and without flinching. Someday she knew he would give her the respect of a thief, even though he is guild master.
"Good. Then I think it's time we put your 'expertise' to the test."
Then Brynjolf interrupted, concern and suspicion in his voice. "Wait a moment. You're not talking about Goldenglow, are you? Even our little Vex couldn't get in."
Mercer looked back at Brynjolf, his tone suggesting there was to be no further question about this order. "You claim this recruit possess the aptitude for our line of work, so let her prove it." He turned back to Dar'Elaraya. "Goldenglow estate is critically important to one of our largest clients. However, the owner has suddenly decided to take matters into his own hands and shut us out. He needs to be taught a lesson. Brynjolf will provide you with the details."
"Mercer, aren't you forgetting something?" Brynjolf pointed out before the guild master could leave.
"Hmm? Oh, yes." He sighed and turned to Dar'Elaraya. "Since Brynjolf assures me you'll be nothing but a benefit to us, then you're in. Welcome to the Thieves' Guild." He left without another word. Then Brynjolf patted Dar'Elaraya on the back.
"Welcome to the family, lass. I'm expecting you to make us a lot of coin, so don't disappoint me." No pressure there, hm?
Dar'Elaraya faced Brynjolf, watching Mercer go. "So how do I get my cut of the spoils?"
"Simple. Do as you're told and keep your blade clean. We can't turn a profit killing. You should talk with Delvin Mallory and Vex. They know their way around this place, and they'll kick a few jobs your way. Oh, and talk to Tonilia in the Flagon... she'll set you up with your new armor."
The Khajiit nodded her thanks, then got her mind set back to business. "Tell me about the Goldenglow job, Brynjolf. So I can get moving." She added as to not seem as if she were in charge.
"Goldenglow estate is a bee farm," he explained. "They raise the wretched little things for honey. It's owned by that smart-mouthed high elf, Aringoth. We need you to teach him a lesson by burning down three of the estate's beehives. Three. No more. Also, this is the best part, you need to clear out the safe in the main house. What's in the safe is ours, so you will be handing whatever's in there to me or Mercer without question. But if you were to pick up anything else... well, that's a different story."
"What's the catch?" Dar'Elaraya inquired.
"The catch is that you can't burn the whole place to the ground. That important client Mercer mentioned would be furious if you did." Brynjolf replied pointedly.
"Makes sense." Dar'Elaraya concluded, nodding.
"Aye, the last thing we want to be doing is crossing our clients."
"And Aringoth?"
"Maven prefers that Aringoth remains alive, but if he tries to stop you from getting the job done, kill him. The Guild has a lot riding on this. Don't make me look foolish by mucking it up." As Dar'Elaraya turned to leave, Brynjolf said as a farewell, "Watch yourself on that island," he warned. "Those mercenaries don't take prisoners." Then she left and headed into the Flagon to talk with who she needed to speak with. So Maven is the important client, hm? I should make a good impression on her good side... if such a thing exists. So right now I'd better speak with Vex about that sewer entrance, then. She nods thanks for the warning from Brynjolf and walks out of the cistern almost at a jog. She had much work to do, so she'd better get to it fast to get her coin even faster.
That estate may have lots of coin and gems to loot, so maybe there will be a good amount of coin to be earned. Maybe I'll make the gems into jewelry and sell them, or enchant them. Oh well, that's soon. Right now I have to get my armor from Tonillia and info from Vex. On the way out, Dar'Elaraya put some heavy things she wanted to keep but not carry in an empty bed's chest. It was next to the door to the Flagon, so it was in a good position. Inside were nineteen septims, four lockpicks, nine iron arrows, and a water breathing potion. Clearing out the chest and placing anything she wouldn't need in a hurry inside, she then proceeds to the Flagon. She placed Gunjar's axe, ninety-six iron arrows (yes including the ones she picked up... shut up), her casual clothing (boots and clothes), pieces of elven armor that she got during the first eight days in Riften; two chest plates, a pair of boots, a pair of gauntlets, and Thalmor robes; enchanted hide gauntlets from the crazy man in the Ratway, a novice mage's hood, the Stormcloak cuirass from Gunjar, Imperial boots and bracers, potions that aren't needed; four frostbite venom, damage health poison, fortify conjuration potion, potion of the defender, two skirmisher's potions, weak magicka potion, and weak aversion to fire poison; she stored her food; three bottles of ale, one and a half pieces of bread, a jug of milk (yes she's a milk-drinker) a pheasant breast, and three raw rabbit legs; her alchemical ingredients (not going to list), her Book of the Dragonborn, and The Buying Game, her keys to Helgen and Riften jail, and all the little misc. items she had that were not useful (gems, bugs in jars, ore or ingots, pelts, ect.). And soon this leather armor. "So much room in my bag! At least I have more room for stolen goods now." Going out into the Flagon, she talked with Tonillia first, as Vex has an... off putting personality.
"So, you're the new recruit, eh? Well, looks like you and I are going to have to get very well acquainted." Tonilia said.
"And why would that be?" Dar'Elaraya asked curiously, though she had her guesses at why.
"I'm the fence down here. You come by anything you don't exactly own and I'll pay you some coin in return for it. Minus a little slice for the Guild, of course."
"Fair enough, I guess."
Tonilia continued as if the Khajiit had never said anything. "I can also provide a few supplies useful to trade now and again, for a small fee."
Dryly, Dar'Elaraya asked a redundant question. "Is there anything you don't charge for?" She then immediately regretted that.
"Sure, how about I get Dirge to knock you over your head and dump you in the cistern?" Tonilia's reply was sarcastic and serious, like she would actually do that. The Khajiit wasn't in the least surprised the threat was real. "Look," Tonilia continued without her sarcastic and hostile tone, "I've been in this business a long time and I've seen all types. You can play it tough, or you can play it smart... whatever. At the end of the day you'll find all we care about down here is how much gold you can make us."
Dar'Elaraya nodded. "Understood. I will help bring this guild back up to what I heard it was; feared and memorable." Tonilia grunted in response, obviously not believing a word from the Khajiit's mouth.
"Here's your armor. Make sure you put it to good use." Seeing the Khajiit dawdle, she added, "Get on with it then... I heard you got Goldenglow. That's no poor farmer's house. Take all you can and make us the gold you want to make us!" So Tonilia is just as short tempered as Vex. Delvin has yet to make an impression. Brynjolf seems to care about how the members get through their jobs. The Khajiit was making a list of the people in the Flagon as she worked. This seemed fairly good to know as to be most effective.
Walking away with the armor in her arms, Dar'Elaraya goes over to get what info she could from Vex. But it seemed that Vex found her first.
"Alright, so here's how this'll work. You will go to Goldenglow, get what you need, and get out." She obviously has her pride hurt that she couldn't do the job and I got it, a recruit. "Any questions, Khajiit?" Vex said the word like it was an insult. Dar'Elaraya, hearing the threat, bites her tongue and bites back her retort. Instead, she replied, "No, I know what I will be doing." The Khajiit turns to leave. Then she looks back over her shoulder at Vex and adds, "Nord," and slips away and out the Flagon entrance, leaving Vex and her attitude in the midst of the Flagon.

Finally I brought this back! Yay! Terribly sorry to anyone reading this... I truly am. I just stopped playing Skyrim and got side tracked with other stuffs.
So here we have a semi-short chapter with Dar'Elaraya getting ready for Goldenglow Estate. I will update this one more hopefully, though slower. Maybe I'll get something done over the Break in Spring, eh? (I wanted to say spring break that way because... reasons. Shut up. :p) I'll add onto this specific chapter, until I feel that Vex's new dialogue is similar to her in-game ones and is long enough, and when Dar'Elaraya is ready to head out of the Flagon. (So it's completed now.)
