Staying By Ava's Side Part 7

"Ava," I shout going down the hall hoping she will somehow hear me and let me know what room she's in.

"Dante, damn it, you are in a hospital with sick, and injured people, will you please just go home, get some rest?" The doctor asks me. I continue making my way down the hall.

"Someone is going to tell me where Ava is, if not, I will find her on my own, doc."

"Do you know how stubborn you are, Dante?"

"Yes, now, are you going to tell me where Ava is, or do I start going on the other floors?"

"Bloody hell, follow me," he says as he turns himself around. We walk nearly all the way back up the other side of the hall. He stops in front of room 115.

"She's in this room?" I ask.

"Yes, Dante, please try and stay calm. You will see the bandage on her forehead. She looks pretty beaten up."

"You said she slipped into a coma."

"Yes, I'm not certain she will be able to hear you, but it wouldn't hurt your talking to her. If you think you can somehow get her to hear you, possibly respond to you, talk to her, touch her. Maybe you have what it takes to get her to wake up," he says before opening the door. I take a deep breath before entering the room. My eyes glance to the right and I become paralyzed seeing her hooked to a breathing machine, he head wrapped in white bandages, her arms covered in bruises from being slammed around in her car.

"Oh my god, I did this to you. I could have prevented this from happening if I remembered to call you and told you about my twin brother, Demetri. Not only that, but I'm the one who slammed into your car and put you in this damn hospital. Oh god, what have I done? I know we haven't known each other for very long, but I somehow knew from the moment I met you, we were destined to be together, Ava.

"I'm so sorry to intrude, Mr. Cooper, but I have to take Ava's vitals," the nurse whispers. I nod my head in agreement.

"That's fine," I reply.

"Okay, that's odd," the nurse says.

"What's odd?"

"Not even an hour ago, Ava's vitals weren't looking good, but now, they seem to be improving. Keep talking to her, Mr. Cooper," she says. I gently grab Ava's hands and kiss them.

"Okay, so let me try this. Kitten, I know you can hear me, so I am giving you an order, and you have to obey my order, I order you to open your eye and forgive me," I order her and notice the confused look on the nurses face. I don't care, it will be worth the weird looks if she wakes up.

"Please, Ava, wake up. You have to wake up and let me explain what and who you saw. I swear to you it wasn't me you saw with that girl at my grandparent's house. You can't die thinking I betrayed you, because I would never betray you. I would never hurt you. Okay, so yes, it's true, before I met you the lifestyle I chose to live involved me and many other sex partners, and yes, I was their dom And yes, I even had more than one sex partner at the same time, but damn, Ava, when I met you, you became my main focus, the one lady I wanted, and I still want.

"Mr. Cooper, whatever you're saying to Ava, keep saying it. Her vitals are improving even more," the nurse informs me after entering the room. I grab Ava's hands once again and kiss them. As I gently lower her hands back on the bed, I feel her squeezing my left hand.

"Oh my god, Ava. You can hear me, I know you can. Please, please open your eyes," I beg her as I bend down next to her ear.

"Dante," her voice faintly whispers.

"Ava, yes, kitten, it's me. Open your eyes and look at me," I beg. She once again squeezes my hand, then she soon opens her eyes and looks right into mine.

"You asshole," she whispers. I give her a stern look and chuckle.

"You think this is funny, you dumbass? How could you do that to me, Dante? You knew how hard it was for me to trust any man after what my ex did. Is that what gets you off?"

I press my lips on hers to shut her up. She soon realizes she doesn't have the strength to push me back.

"Ava, you are going to listen to me. It wasn't me kissing that girl at my grandparent's house."

"You have to be kidding me. You expect me to believe I didn't see you groping, kissing, making out with that girl in your grandparents front yard? Do I have stupid written on my forehead, Dante? Do you really expect me to believe that wasn't you?"

"Yes, Ava, I do expect you to believe it wasn't me. I'm telling you the truth."

"Okay, that's it. I'm calling the hospital security," she snaps as her hand feels for the call button. I gently stop her and press my upper body on hers.

"Great, now you're trying to crush me to death, Dante?"

"Ava, you are going to listen to me. Like I said before, I know it wasn't easy for you to trust another man, I'm also aware how difficult it was for you to let yourself see me as the one being in control of our sexual activities. I would never take your self-control, your self-worth away from you. And I would never do anything to ever hurt you. Looks like I did fail you. I was supposed to call you, and I forgot. I was so busy and I forgot to call you, and because of that, you were badly hurt."

"How bad am I hurt, Dante? I'm not experiencing any pain."

"I know. The doctor has you on some pretty good pain meds."

"Okay, I can feel my legs, my arms, I can feel my back," she says. I look down towards the floor not wanting to tell her about her forehead.

"Ava, your head took most of the trauma," I whisper.

"My head? No, my head feels fine," she says as she raises her hand. I quickly grab them.

"Dante, let go of me."

"Ava, you have a severe gash on your forehead. Your doc says you're going to need plastic surgery."

"Oh god, it's that bad? What the hell do I look like now?"

"Just as beautiful as you've always been."

"You need to tell me the truth, Dante."

"My brother is telling you the truth, Ava. You really are a beautiful lady," Demetri says as he walks in the room. Ava's eyes widen seeing him.

"Oh my god, Dante, you have an identical twin?"

"Yes, Ava. I was going to tell you that I have a twin brother."

"Oh god, so it really wasn't you with that girl at your grandparent's, Dante?" She asks me. I grin and lean towards her.

"No, kitten, I tried to tell you it wasn't me."

"Shit, ok, so I made a horrible mistake. I guess we both did, huh?"

"Yes, and my mistake ended up putting you in the hospital. I am so sorry you got hurt, Ava.

"I'm sorry too, Dante. Now I have this horrible gash on my forehead. What if I never look the same? What if this leaves a horrible scar?"

"And what if not even a scar will force me to walk away from what we have between us, Ava? You need to realize, I'm staying right here with you," I smile.

"Listen to my brother, Ava. You are all who he talked about when he was helping me move here. He loves you, Ava," Demetri informs her. Her tear filled eyes look over at my own tear-filled eyes. I lean forward pressing my lips on hers.

"My brother is right. I love you, Ava."
