Chapter 1- A New Member of Mystery Inc

The gang of Mystery Inc was driving home after an exhausting mystery. They caught a sasquatch, which turned out to be an old man trying to scare people out the swamp he calls home by masquerading as Bigfoot. Fred was the leader, and never gives up on solving a mystery. Velma is the smartest member of the gang and is capable of decoding any clues that are left behind. Daphne is like the princess of Mystery Inc since she is practically obsessed with keeping herself pretty. In pride of place is Shaggy and his great dane Scooby. They are total cowards, and run at the first sign of danger. The only thing they're good at is gorging themselves on any food that they can get their hands on. Suddenly, Fred began slowing down and eventually, the Mystery Machine came to a complete stop.

"Freddy, why are we stopping?" Daphne asked.

"There's something in the road. Either that, or maybe someone." Fred answered.

The gang got out of the Mystery Machine and went to the front of the vehicle. And sure enough, there really was something or more accurately, someone lying in the middle of the road. It was a young boy who looked to be about 12 years old. His hair was blonde, but seemed to be like a brownish color since it was covered in mud presumably after collapsing from a combination of blood loss and exhaustion. There were cuts all over his face, chest and stomach.

"Jinkies. This young boy looks like he's been hurt badly." Velma said.

"No kidding. His eyes are purple and swollen. I can see a lot of bruises as well. But those cuts appear to be the worst of his injuries, especially since some of them look like they've gotten infected." Daphne replied.

"Like we can't just leave him here. Maybe we should bring him to HQ." Shaggy said.

"Reah. Maybe we can help him." Scooby replied.

"Shaggy and Scooby are right. I think this boy has been through a lot of pain and suffering. There's no way that he'll last much longer with these kinds of injuries." Daphne said.

"Then we'll bring him home to recover. Once he wakes up, we need to know more about him." Fred replied.

It was settled. The gang carried the unconscious boy to the back of the Mystery Machine where Shaggy and Daphne tended to his wounds while Fred drove to HQ. A few hours later, the gang arrived at their headquarters.

They took the boy inside and laid him on the couch.

"Zoinks. For such a young child, he must weigh like at least a ton." Shaggy said.

"Shaggy, he's not fat." Daphne replied.

"Like I didn't mean it like that. I meant that bringing him in here actually required all of us working together. Usually Fred is able to carry heavy things. But carrying this poor kid took all of our physical strength combined." Shaggy replied.

"Reah. He was too much for Fred." Scooby replied.

"I hate to admit it Daph, but Shaggy's right. This young lad might be slim, but he sure was heavy. I mean look at how much muscle he has." Velma said.

The gang examined the young boy. He did seem to be unusually toned and muscular for his age.

"Oh that's right, now I remember. Muscle is heavier than fat since it has a higher rate of density." Daphne said.

Velma removed his shirt and saw the horrible wounds on the boy's chest and stomach. One of them went across his left pectoral. But Velma could still feel the boy's heartbeat since his heart was not pierced in any way.

"Jinkies. This is worse than I thought. It looks like someone tried to kill him. One of these cuts came close to his heart. But it looks like he got lucky. His heart didn't get pierced, so that's good." Velma said.

"Like I wonder who would do such a thing." Shaggy replied.

Daphne brought down a change of clothes for the boy since the ones he had on were extremely dirty. They looked as if they haven't been washed in over a month. While the boy laid silently on the couch, the gang decided to have a conversation to decide on what to do.

"Maybe once he recovers, he can join the gang. Who knows? He might be a big help solving mysteries." Fred said.

"Like I agree with Fred. With those muscles, he'd be a great help. And he looks pretty smart too." Shaggy replied.

"Reah. He might have nowhere else to go." Scooby said.

The gang seemed to think about this for a minute.

"Scoob has a point. We don't even know if his parents are looking for him, let alone if he has any." Shaggy said.

"Then I guess we should ask him when he wakes up." Daphne replied.

Suddenly, the gang heard a the sound of someone groaning. They looked back at the couch to see that the boy was waking up.

"Ugh, Where am I? I've got such a headache." He said, as he held his right hand on the side of his head.

The gang walked over to speak to him, but the boy flipped right over the back of the couch. When he landed, the young boy was in a fighting stance which meant that he was ready to defend himself if it was necessary.

"Like, take it easy. We're not gonna hurt you." Shaggy said, as he tried to approach the boy while being as friendly as he could.

But the boy was still scared to the point where he didn't know if he could trust these people. And almost immediately, the boy let out a high-pitched battle cry as he launched a Roundhouse kick with his right leg, and landed a powerful blow on Shaggy's hip.

The boy gets back into his stance, and then he spoke.

"Movement number 4: Dragon seeks path." He said firmly.

And then, the boy let out another high-pitched battle cry as he spun around on his right foot and smashed his left heel into Shaggy's jaw, knocking him down.

"Dragon whips his tail!" He said with an aggressive tone

"Rhaggy! Are you okay?" Scooby asked.

"Like I'm fine Scoob. But he is definitely stronger than we thought. That kick nearly broke my jaw." Shaggy replied.

The boy glared at the gang, as he pulled out a pair of nunchucks.

"Who are you? And what am I doing here?" He asked.

Velma quickly realized that the boy was scared out of his mind, which meant that he must've been traumatized in the past and is suffering from a bad case of PTSD.

"Calm down. There's no need to be afraid." Fred answered.

"You're at Mystery Inc headquarters. We found you passed out in the middle of the road just a few hours ago. We brought here to recover. You're safe." Daphne replied.

But the boy didn't seem convinced.

"Oh sure. Like I haven't heard that before." He said.

"Guys, I think he must be suffering from a case of PTSD. That could explain why he's so defensive." Velma interjected.

"PTSD? Like what is that?" Shaggy asked.

"It means Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. He must've been traumatized at some point in his life. And as a result, he has trouble trusting people that he doesn't know." Velma answered.

Much to the gang's surprise, the boy's mood quickly changed to show timidity and sorrow, as he cautiously approached them.

"She's right. I was traumatized, and I do suffer from PTSD." The boy said sadly, as tears began to flow down his cheeks.

"Like what happened man?" Shaggy asked.

"My name is Dante Hasselhoff. When I was an infant, I was found in the Akashi Mountains of Japan. I was adopted by a couple who lived in Paris: David Hasselhoff and Selena Gomez. They raised me like a son of their own. But one day, there was a horrible accident when I was around nine years old. My adoptive parents were killed in a car crash, and I was the only survivor. I was sent to a foster home in America, and it was horrible. They abused me, and told me that I was a disgrace to them. The abuse is what gave me these nasty gashes on my skin. Eventually, I waited until my foster family was asleep and climbed out my bedroom window. As soon as I got out of the house, I ran away, and I never want to go back there." Dante explained.

"Zoinks. That's horrible." Shaggy said.

"Reah. Terrible." Scooby replied.

"But, who are your real parents?" Daphne asked.

"I... I never knew them. I don't even know if I have parents." Dante answered.

Fred and the others were shocked to find out that Dante never knew who his parents were. But even so, they knew that if he were to return to his foster family then Dante would surely be killed.

Velma hugged Dante. She couldn't bear the thought of him being killed.

"You won't be going back there Dante. Because you're staying with us." She said.

"We never properly introduced ourselves. My name's Fred." Fred replied.

"I'm Daphne." Daphne said.

"Like I'm Shaggy, and this here is..." Shaggy said.

"Scooby Dooby Doo!" The great dane said, as he finished Shaggy's sentence.

Dante laughed when Scooby introduced himself.

"I'm Velma. And together, we are Mystery Incorporated. You'll be safe with us, Dante. I must warn you, that the mysteries that we solve actually involve capturing monsters which are always people wearing a costume. I hope that doesn't bother you." Velma said.

"No. I'm perfectly fine with solving mysteries with you guys. Besides, I'm tired of being afraid. Everyone looks down on me. They always try to hurt me. They think I shouldn't even exist!" Dante replied.

Velma quickly let go of Dante when her hands were burned. The boy's body temperature rose higher as his anger increased. Suddenly, Dante got so angry, that his body became outlined in flames, but they did not harm him. And to top that off, some lightning was crackling around his arms while combining with the fire as they formed orbs in the palms of Dante's hands.

"Like what's happening to him?" Shaggy asked.

"I don't know Shaggy, but it doesn't look good." Velma answered.

But much to their surprise, Dante's injuries began to fade until eventually they completely vanished. There were no scars either.

"Zoinks! You just healed himself. Like how'd you do that?" Shaggy asked.

Dante calmed down a little. He noticed the fire and lightning that outlined his body.

"I'm not sure of what just happened to me. But this fire and lightning might hold the key to uncovering the truth about my parents, and who I really am. Or to be more accurate, what I am." He said.

*Cue Coming Undone by Korn*

Keep holding on
When my brain's tickin' like a bomb
Guess the black thoughts have come Again to get me
Sweet little words
Unlike nothing I have heard
Sing along mocking bird
You don't affect me

Over the course of time, the gang took care of Dante and treated him like family. Dante was happy to finally be with someone who truly cares about him. He loved living with Mystery Inc.

That's right
Deliver it to my heart
Please strike
Be deliberate

Fred and Dante worked out together. They developed a father-son like relationship over time. Even though Fred was a little jealous that Dante was much stronger, he always praised him for his improvements. Eventually, Fred accepted Dante's physical strength, speed, agility, stamina, and endurance.

Wait
I'm coming undone
Irate
I'm coming undone
Too late
I'm coming undone
What looks so strong
So delicate
Wait
I'm starting to suffocate
And soon I anticipate
I'm coming undone
What looks so strong
So delicate

Daphne taught Dante how to be fashionable and not care about what other people thought of him. In return, Dante trained Daphne in the arts of Jeet Kune Do, and Shaolin Wushu. Daphne had expressed how much she wanted to learn how to protect herself, and Dante was more than happy to oblige. Daphne was like a mother that Dante never had.

Choke choke again
I thought my demons were my friends
Getting me in the end
They're out to get me
Since I was young
I've tasted sorrow on my tongue
And this sweet sugar gun
Does not protect me

That's right
Trigger between my eyes
Please strike
Make it quick now

Velma taught Dante about history, and how to observe clues for solving mysteries. Dante had no trouble with learning everything Velma could teach him because even for someone so young, he showed intelligence and wisdom beyond his years. In return, Dante taught Velma how to meditate and relax herself. Through Dante's tutelage, Velma learned how to use her third eye to see things that weren't there. This may in turn prove useful in the future. What Velma didn't know is that Dante loves being in her presence above all others. Everytime Dante spends time with Velma, he blushes. Dante viewed Velma as a sister figure. But his constant blushing in her presence meant that fate has other plans for them.

Wait
I'm coming undone
Irate
I'm coming undone
Too late
I'm coming undone
What looks so strong
So delicate
Wait
I'm starting to suffocate
And soon I anticipate
I'm coming undone
One looks so strong
So delicate

I'm trying to hold it together
Head is lighter than a feather
Looks like I'm not getting better
Not getting better

Shaggy and Scooby taught Dante how to cook. Much to their surprise, Dante's cooking was even better than their own. Dante taught Shaggy and Scooby how to cook Japanese and French cuisine. The gang loved Dante's cooking, especially the sushi. Shaggy, Scooby and Dante were like brothers.

Wait
I'm coming undone
Irate
I'm coming undone
Too late
I'm coming undone
What looks so strong
So delicate
Wait
I'm starting to suffocate
And soon I anticipate
I'm coming undone
One looks so strong
So delicate

Dante was happy. He loved solving mysteries with Mystery Inc. He still wanted to know who his parents are. But above all, he wants to know why he always blushes whenever Velma's around. Everytime they spend time together, Dante winds up blushing, and his heart begins to race. One night, Dante was meditating since he's gotten into the habit of meditating for half an hour before going to sleep. What Dante saw in his mind this very evening almost made his heart pop out of his chest: he saw Velma and himself sitting on a beach, watching a beautiful sunset. They moved closer to each other before making out as the sun went down while the moon rose into the sky. When Dante climbed into bed, he stared at the ceiling in deep thought.

'Why would I be seeing myself making out with Velma? I also keep having dreams where Velma and I spend time together and in each one, we always make out.' Dante thought.

After much thought, Dante realized that it is possible that he's in love with Velma. But only time will tell.
