Ice ice, baby

Danny woke up but didn't open his eyes. He felt slightly tired, but it was a happy kind of tired. Like when you wake up in the morning and realise it's Saturday. You can't go back to sleep, so you just stay in bed, relishing at the fact that you have all day and can stay in bed and be lazy.

   He groaned, knowing that he didn't have all day because it wasn't Saturday. It was Friday. And he had school. One more day, he promised his tired body.

   He opened his eyes and squinted against the morning sun. It was a week since he was first put in the Ghost Heater. He had to stay there until he got his new powers under control. He had only been allowed to get out last Friday so he could try out his powers outside the machine and be able to go to school on Tuesday (his mom made him stay home another day after he sneezed and froze the whole kitchen). It had been a lot of fun but also very tiring. Especially when practicing using the frost. Tucker and him had established that Danny's ice powers are split in two. The ice and the frost.

   The half ghost sat up and brushed the frost off of himself. His mom had only recently let him sleep in his room due to the fact that when he slept his powers went out of control. At least in the Ghost Heater they were slightly contained. However, now that he was in his room, which was also his lair and strengthened his ghost form, his powers went awol. He glanced up and groaned when his fears were confirmed. His room was completely covered in frost. It had spread from his bed and it formed a thin layer over everything in its path. He winced at the scolding he would get. Especially since this was frost. He knew how to absorb the ice, but got nowhere when it came to frost.

   He got up and shook the frost off his clothes lying on the chair, then put them on. He went into the bathroom to splash his face but turned around immediately after crossing the door. He remembered yesterday, when he could barely move his face because the water had turned into ice. Jazz had come in and wouldn't stop laughing. It took him a while to concentrate enough to absorb it.

   He grabbed his backpack and ran downstairs, hoping that the sun would melt the ice before his mom went in. Everything would still be wet but there's nothing he could do about that.

   He greeted Jazz and plopped down on his seat.

Jazz looked at him while he snatched some cereal and poured his milk in it, careful not to actually touch the liquid. "So how did you sleep?"

The halfa knew what she meant, "Good." He looked at her pointedly, "Really good"

Jazz's eyes widened but before she could say anything a yell was heard from upstairs, "Danny!!!"

Danny yerked at the sound of his mother's voice and his cereal froze over. He snatched his backpack and raced out of the house without eating, "Bye! Gotta go!"

And before Maddie came downstairs, he was already halfway to school, leaving a frozen bowl of cereal behind.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
His friends shivered the moment Danny arrived.
Tucker scooted a bit away from him, "Are you sure you're ok? It feels like the North Pole next to you"
Danny rolled his eyes, "Hey! You chose me as your best friend. Deal with it."
Tucker grinned and bumped his shoulder with Danny's "Nah. I'm ok" he checked to see that his shoulder wasn't frozen.
Danny chuckled and Sam spoke up, "I like it. It's super warm now, but at least we get our own refrigerator", Sam hugged him and Tucker joined her after checking that he wouldn't get frostbite.
Danny deadpanned, "Wow, guys. Really feeling the love here." He tried pushing them off him but quickly gave up and stumbled to school with them attached to him.
   The trio entered the class and everyone immediately noticed the temperature drop.
Dash, who had taken his jacket off and was slumping in the heat, immediately perked up. "Danny's here!!"
The rest off the class cheered at the arrival of the air conditioner and Danny groaned. More people to cling to him. This had been going on for a few days. However, he seemed to be letting out less and less cold everyday as he got more control of his new power. He could hold in most of the cold and not freeze everyone to death, much to the disappointment of the others.
He sat down in his usual seat and unpacked his backpack. The teacher asked everyone to pass their homework to the front.
"Danny", Danny looked up at the voice of Mr. Lancer, "Were you able to make your homework?"
Ever since everyone found out about him being part-time superhero they had been cutting him some slack. It had become routine for Mr. Lancer and a few other teachers to ask Danny on his work.
The halfa sighed and shook his head defeatedly. The last few days had been rough. Word seemed to get around that Danny Phantom was weak due to a new development and everyone had decided to take advantage of that. Especially since he had been absent for a week.
Mr. Lancer pursed his lips and nodded, "You may copy off of Ms. Manson's homework but make sure you understand it all. If not, feel free to come ask me after school"
Danny brightened up and grinned, "Thank you, Mr. Lancer!" The teacher knew that he could trust in Danny to do his best on school. However, when Danny couldn't get anything done, he would get behind in the lesson and wouldn't learn anything. So Mr. Lancer let him copy from someone else as long as he looked over it and made sure he understood. Thanks to this new system, Danny could bring his grades up and not stress as much about school. Mr. Lancer had adviced this on the other teachers and many agreed. Although there were a few who disagreed with this, thinking that Mr. Fenton would become lazy and not do his homework on purpose.
Danny was relieved as Sam gave him a thumbs up, they would do the homework after school and she would teach him. He smiled at the prospect of sitting next to Sam for hours and talk. Sure, they talked about school but still.
"Well then, and the rest of you, please pass the homework forward. Mr. Foaly? Ms. Manson? Have you had any problems?" he also asked the superhero's best friends who usually helped him on the fights.
Sam smiled victoriously as Tucker sighed.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lancer. No time"
"I did it in the weekend"
Tucker and Danny looked at Sam in wonder. Danny knew it had been hard for his two friends to fight the ghosts while he was caged up. Especially since the ghosts knew that too. They had barely done any homework. How did Sam find the time?
Mr. Lancer nodded approvingly, "Mr. Foaly and Mr. Fenton should take notes from you. I will give you extra credit for that and I trust you to teach them a few lessons"
Sam smiled as the rest of the class roared that they had done their homework too and why they didn't get any extra credit.
Mr. Lancer ignored them and picked up the papers.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Paulina raised her hand and Mr. Lancer sighed, "I know, Ms. Sanchez. I'll get at it"

He smiled at his students excitement. Ever since Danny's secret had been revealed the class had taken to watching the Phantom News, which played every Friday. It always started twenty minutes before the bell of the first class rang.

The Phantom News was the favorite show of teenagers nowadays. Anyone who filmed Danny Phantom could send their video to the studio and maybe it will come out on tv. You could send anything: videos of fights, photos, selfies with Phantom, funny stories about him. Anything as long as it has to do with the famous Danny Phantom.

Danny found this quite entertaning and would sometimes act silly for the camera. He would even photobomb other pictures and make weird faces. It was always a laugh.

Sometimes a video would be send of Danny rescuing people. It didn't necessarily have to be from a ghost. There could be a fire, or a robbery, or an accident. Danny was really a hero.

Danny had smiled when Tucker and Sam had come to his house last Friday to tell him that since Phantom had been out of action, Sam and Tucker had taken the spotlight for that one week.

The class got comfortable as Mr. Lancer turned on the tv and changed it to the right channel.

Two minutes passed with the commercials and then the intro song began. The producers had asked Danny of the origin of his powers and made a song out of it. They had added videos and photos of Fenton and Phantom and now they used it as their intro song. The teenagers loved it and the class sang along.

"Yo, Danny Fenton, he was just fourteen. When his parents built a very strange machine. It was designed to view a world unseen"

Star and Paulina, who couldn't rap, were appointed to sing this part. "He's gonna catch 'em all cuz he's Danny Phantom"

"When it didn't quite work, his folks they just quit and Danny took a look inside of it."

Kwan, who had proved himself an awesone rapper, made the background whooshy sounds.

"There was a great big flash and everything just changed!" They shouted and a few pumped their fists in the air.

"His molecules got all rearranged"

"Phantom. Phantom", Paulina and Star echoed.

"When he first woke up he realised he had snow white hair and glowing green eyes. He could walk through walls disappear and fly. He was much more unique than the other guys"

"It was then that he knew what he had to do: he had to stop all the ghosts that were coming through."

The class now shouted in unison, "He's here to fight for me and you!!"

"He's gonna catch 'em all cuz he's Danny Phantom. He's gonna catch 'em all cuz he's Danny Phantom. He's gonna catch 'em all cuz he's Danny Phantom"

At these last words they all pointed at Danny who raised his hands and bowed his head rock 'n roll style. The others cheered but quieted down as the reporter appeared on the screen.

"Hello and good morning, Amity Park. My name is Harriet Chin and I am here to give you Phantom news!" She smiled sweetly, "It has been quite an eventful week for our favorite halfghost" After Danny's secret was revealed, Harriet, who had been fired from the News cast due to the fact that she tried to publish a paper about ghosts, was offered a job in the Phantom News as reporter. She had gladly accepted.

"We have gotten news that Danny Phantom has aqcuired new abiblities"

Danny glared at the class halfheartedly. A few grinned sheepishly.

"You may have noticed that Danny has been absent this week. We do not know all of the details but it seems that the power is quite difficult to control. Danny had to be put in a containment cell. We have been send a few pictures of this event"

A picture popped up. It was Danny in the Fenton Ghost Heater. Still shirtless, he lay on his stomach and was pushing himself up by the elbows. He was staring intently at his hands which were covered in frost. A snowball floated in between his hands.

"Who made this picture!!!" Danny yelled.

Valerie snickered.

Harriet continued, "As you can see, the new power seems to be related with snow. We have also gotten a video"

"Hey!" Danny was ok with people filming him but not without him knowing. Everyone watched these shows. The ghosts could get information that Danny didn't want them to and it could be used against him. He had wanted to keep his ice powers secret for a little more so that he could have an advantage on the next ghost fight. He figured that wouldn't be possible now unless the ghost was seriously out of date.

The video started. The bodies of people appeared. Then the camera rotated and the picture sharpened to see Danny on his back. He had a shirt on and an empty plate sat next to him.

Danny remembered this as two days after he got his new powers and was put in the machine. It was a Thursday. He should have known they would send it to The Phantom News.

On-screen Danny noticed the camera and grinned. He concentrated on his hands and made a ball of ice. The ice reformed into a heart and then a star.

Somewhere off screen and cough could be heard, "Show off"

Danny pushed the star against the 'ceiling' of his containment cell and the object immediately spread out, covering the glass in a thin layer and blocking their view of Danny. It all seemed to flush as it circled and disappeared. They could now see that Danny's hand was absorbing it. The halfa sighed, a bit tired and made jazz hands. "Ta-da"

The video disappeared and Harriet grinned widely, "So. That was quite something. We can't wait to see him in action and I bet you can't either. However, since Phantom wasn't available, someone else was busy fighting ghosts. As we have showcasted last week. Here's one new photo we received"

A picture of Sam and Tucker was shown. Tucker was pointing an improved ecto-gun at a huge tiger ghost while Sam was piggy back riding it. She had a furious expression and seemed to be strangling the tiger.

The class let out a few 'ooh's and 'aah's. Danny grinned and punched Tucker on the shoulder. Then he winked at Sam. He was proud of his friends.

Kwan was impressed, "Remind me not to get on your bad side"

Sam huffed "Like you don't know that already"

The tv was showing a video of Sam and Tucker beating up the ghost and sucking it into the thermos when Danny sat up straight. He had felt something. It wasn't his ghost sense. Well, fog didn't leave his mouth. However, he felt something like that. Somewhere in his chest he felt it contrict. It grew slightly colder and he recognized it as the shiver he would usually get when his ghost sense went off. It was faint and only lasted a second but that was enough for alarm bells to go off in his head.

Mr. Lancer noticed Danny snap to attention and raised an eyebrow, "A ghost, Mr. Fenton?"

Danny shifted nervoursly, "Not necessarily. My ghost sense didn't go off but I just have this feeling. Can I go check it out?", he knew this was a weird request but he felt he was needed.

Mr. Lancer considered this. Every second that passed he saw Danny shift and become more and more restless. He sighed and consented, figuring it was hero intituition.

The second the teacher said yes, Danny went intagible and sped out of his chair and through the closed window. He hadn't even gone ghost. All that he left behind was a shocked class and a spinning empty chair.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Danny went ghost before he could hit the ground and flew around town. He was sure there was something.
Suddenly, the halfghost stopped. Fog seeped out of his mouth. He glanced around but saw nothing. He flew around more and his breath fogged up again. He shivered. It was colder than before. Somehow, he knew that meant he was getting closer.
This was confirmed when he flew around a corner and stopped in his tracks. There was a ghost.
He was a man, had the appearance of a thirty-year old grown up. A net hung on his hip and he wore a long-sleeved dark blue shirt and baggy brown pants. A belt was wrapped tightly around his waist and knives adorned it on all sides. His hair was slightly long and black. He reminded Danny of some fisherman. But he was green, and floating, and grumpy.
"Hey!", Danny yelled, effectively catching the attention of the fisher, "What do you think you are doing?"
The ghost growled, "None of your business, hybrid"
Danny cocked his head. He didn't know this ghost but the fisher seemed to know him. Although he shouldn't be surprised, many ghosts knew of the halfa in the human dimension.
Fisherghost flew on and turned a corner. Danny didn't like being ignored. Sure, the ghost wasn't destroying anything or harming anyone but he couldn't just leave him be without knowing for sure. Besides, that frown didn't sit him well.
Danny easily caught up with the ghost, who was speedfloating now. Fisherghost appeared to be searching for something and when he couldn't find it his expression quickly turned from grumpy to angry.
Danny floated upside down next to him, "Whatcha looking for?"
Fisherghost ignored him again as he poked his head in another dead end alley. The ghost looked at the halfa in annoyance, "I said it was none of your business!!" He nearly shouted.
A few people were now peeking their out of their windows and walking up the street. Most were confused as to why Phantom wasn't kicking ghost butt yet.
Danny huffed and flew right side up, "Well, sure. I will just leave you here and trust that you're just passing by. I have homework to do anyway"
The sarcasm didn't go unnoticed by the other ghost, who whirled around and tried to grab the halfghost. Danny quickly jumped out of the way. That fisher was fast!!
Danny frowned, "Ok, dude. I was just trying to talk it out peacefully but you started it"
He ducked under another punch and flew behind the man. Danny threw an upper hand punch just as the other ghost was turning around. His fist hit the side of Fisherghost's jaw and he was thrown backwards. Danny was slightly surprised. That punch was meant for the underside of his head but the ghost had reacted so fast it hit his face. He had quick reflexes. Danny would have to be careful with that.
Meanwhile, Fisherghost had recovered and looked pissed, "I am so sorry I interrupted your work. Please go back to do it now," His hand snaked to his belt.
"Oooh, sassy," Danny charged up an ectoblast and shot. The ghost dodged and rapidly snatched a short but sharp knife out of his belt. He twirled and flung it expertly at the halfa. Danny didn't react fast enough and the knife sliced through his arm. It left a deep cut behind. Danny cried out, but he instinctively moved aside to evade any other missiles.
He was happy for that when another knife pierced the spot he had just vacated.
Danny's hand covered the cut and he winced. His jumpsuit protected him a lot against impacts or ectoblasts but it could tear when sliced through.
He removed his hand and glared at the ghost. Oooooh, it's on.
He charged up another ectoblast and threw it. The ghost evaded it easily enough but Danny had already thrown another two. Figherghost dodged one but the last one hit the ghost's leg. Before he could even cry out, his foot was grabbed from under him. Danny swung the ghost wildly and let him go. He slammed against the ground.
Fisherghost groaned and lifted his head from the ground. He stopped suddenly. He pressed his ear against the ground and a grin slowly formed in his face.
"Hey! Fisher! You give up?" Danny taunted.
The ghost looked up for a second and then went intangible. He disappeared underground.
"Hey! No, stupid. That's not how this works. You give up and go into the thermos. Not the ground"
Danny was about to follow when he heard something. It was a rumble. He looked around. What the-
Suddenly, the ground cracked and water rushed out and hit Danny in the face. He was thrown upwards. When he regained his balance, he looked at what the heck was happening.
The ground was flooded. The people that had been taking pictures and looking were either taking cover or mourning their wet cellphones.
Danny was relieved to see that none of them were much hurt, except for being dripping wet and a few small bruises from the water's impact.
His attention was quickly riverted to the man that stood over the crack. His legs spread on each side of the hole, which was about 5 inches wide and one meter long. The ghost grinned maniacally, which Danny found just slightly creepy.
The halfghost winced at the damage of the street, he just hoped Fisherman hadn't ruined the waterducts too much. It would take a lot of time to fix and a certain part of the town would't get any running water.
He also winced at his wound. The knife seemed to have pierced his muscle and Danny could swear he would be able to see bone if he looked. But he didn't look, no time now. Crazy fisher ghost to capture.
Said ghost grabbed the net from his side, "My name is Frank"
He spread the net out and submerged it in the water, which kept bubbling out of the crack.
"Frank?! What kind of name is that for a ghost. Shouldn't you be called something like Fishyor Fisherghost" Danny cast a worried look at the water. He had to stop it before too much water escaped, "Heh, you get it? Fisherman? But you're a ghost."
The ghost ignored Danny and heaved the net up.
Danny backpedaled when he saw that net was full. Not full of fish, but water. It trapped the water inside and though the net was made out of holes, only a few drops escaped from the opening between the ghost's hands.
Frank swung the net around. He twirled two times and let one end go. Instead of the water spreading out and dropping to the ground, it flew out like a comet. The missile flew straight at Danny.
Before said boy could move, he was hit. He slammed against a wall, going right through it. Danny groaned. He stood up and flinched a bit. His jumpsuit had protected him for the most part and his fast healing would take care of the rest.
However, he didn't fancy another crash. He had to figure something out. He flew out of the building, which was now a wet mess, and stopped when he saw the ghost responsible, who smirked.
"Well aren't we having a blast"
Danny's eyebrows scrunched together. What to do. What to do.
Then it was like a lightbulb lit up. He felt like slapping himself. It was so obvious. He had fricking ice powers.
He concentrated on the cold spot in his chest and led the cold to his hand. A snowball now floated on his palm. He huffed. What could he do with a snowball. He needed ice. He let it drop and was about to try again when something appeared in the corner of his eye. He quickly moved sideways and the knife missed him. He cursed. Never ever turn your back on your enemy. He had been to distracted.
He heard a yell and looked down. He gasped. Maybe the knife had missed him, but it certainly didn't miss the teenage boy that stood behind him. His leg was bleeding. Them man himself was doubled over and clutching it with both hands.
Danny rushed down and sweeped the teenager that looked like he was a few years older than him, in his arms. He flew away from the ghost for a few streets and then swiftly phased them both into a building and set him on the ground. He couldn't stay too long. Fisherman Frank could come in any second. The cut didn't seem too deep.
"Just...put pressure on it" he told the boy, who looked slightly pale, "I'll be back in no time"
The human just nodded and took off his jacket. He wrapped it around his thigh then looked up at Phantom. He glanced at Danny's deep cut that was oozing thick ectoplasm, "And you, be careful."
Danny smiled and left.
He looked around. Where was the stupid ghost. No wonder Danny didn't hear much from him. The injury was probably a distraction. Danny gained altitude to have a bigger view. His ghost sense went off.
"I smell something......fishy"
Danny went intagible and water phased through him. It splashed against the sidewalk. The halfa turned around. Fisherghost.
The ghost smirked. He twirled a knife in his hand "You like my little toys?"
Danny narrowed his eyes. Ice, he thought, I need to make ice.
He charged Frank, who dived down and scooped up another netfull of water. He swung it at Danny again, who quickly made a shield. The moment the water touched, he transfered the cold on the shield. The hard, icy cold.
The shield was immediately layered with thick ice. Danny was pushed back a bit from the impact, but he held strong. He was prepared this time.
The shield would now be heavy as a schoolbus. Thankfully, he had carried one of those before. The gravity defying weightlesness his ghost side provided him with always came in handy when lifting heavy objects.
Danny stared hard at the ice and concentrated. He absorbed it all.
When nothing was over he glanced at Fisherghost, who looked shocked.
Danny took advantage and flew forward. He charged his fist with ectoenergy and punched the living daylights of the ghost. He shot an ice ray. Wow he was getting better at this.
Frank the Fisher was thrown back and Danny quickly flew to the crack in the ground. He submerged his hands in the flowing water and send out the cold. He made sure the ice reached deep and the damaged waterduct wouldn't leak.
He lay back, tired. He couldn't dodge the upcoming water missile. Danny was thrown backwards and he bit the ground hard. He groaned. His spine and head hurt with every heartbeat. His vision swam. He fought the dizziness and lifted his head. He looked up to the see an old lady. She seemed to be in her early 70's.
"Get out of here", Danny croaked and pushed himself up, "it's not safe"
He faced Frank and stood protectively between him and the lady.
She frowned slightly, "It's not safe for you either child. You should not have to do this" she chided.
Danny smirked, "But I can, so I do," this was one of the downsides of people knowing his secret. Many didn't approve of the fact that a teenage kid was out there fighting for his life. But that's just the thing. He didn't fight for his life. He fought for the lifes of others.
Frank noticed how the half ghost protected the grandma and he grinned slily. That's his weakness.
He secretely grabbed two of his knives that rested on his belt at the back. He scooped up water with the net while hiding the knives in the back of his hand.
"But there are many other people who can and are much more suited for the task," The old lady continued. Danny huffed, wondering why the heck she hadn't left yet. "The Guys In White, for instance"
That did it. Danny halfturned to her. "The Guys In White?!?! Those idiots don't care what happens to humans. The only thing the care about is experimenting on ghosts and their freaking white suits..."
His ranting was interrupted when his sixth sense buzzed. He made a hurried shield and two knives implanted into it. However, he toppled over when a water canon razed the top of his shield and sped above his head. He lay sprawled on the ground for just a second until he raised his head, eyes wide with panic.
Just as he had feared, the old, annoying but well-meaning lady was dropping from the wall she had been flung into. Danny gasped and rushed forward with the speed of lightning. He caught the woman and layed her down gently. Her eyes were closed. He held his breath as he looked for hers. After an eternity of two seconds he saw a raspy breath. He breathed a sigh of relief.
A chuckle echoed accross the alleys. The hybrid looked up to see Freaking Fisher Frank.
"I wonder how others could not defeat you"
Danny clenched his teeth, "How about the fact that I'm actually pretty powerful ghost who can and will kick your but back into the ghost zone," alright so he fully admited that he was kinda strong. He wouldn't normally but this ghost needed manners.
Frank shook his head, smiling, "You have strong physical abilities, however, your mental state is weak"
Danny stood up from his crouched position and rose an eyebrow, "This coming from a ghost who's fighting a kid only to blow of some frustation"
Frank's eyes widened slightly and Danny smirked, "Yeah, I'm not that much of an idiot. I know you didn't come here to fight me. You came for something else. So tell me, why are you here?"
The ghost shook his head, as if dismissing a thought and scowled. Danny tensed.
"You're right. I'm not here to fight you, but because you got in my way you will have to suffer the consequences"
Danny shuddered, "Oooh. Look at that. Your threats are sending chills up my spine"
At the word 'chills', Danny stretched his hands out and shot an ice blast that punched the ghost in the stomach and shattering on contact.
Danny hummed. His eyebrows knitted, with the damage he was doing with this ice ray, he might as well throw a rock. He needed to find a way to make that power more deadly.
He stored that idea somewhere in the back of his brain. He could practice on that later, with Tucker and Sam. Right now, though, he had a rage filled ghost to take care of.
The halfghost flew forward to the full ghost punched him away with his fist. He briefly wondered why he still used his physical body when he had energy to throw. He came to the conclusion that it just felt better. He could somehow convince himself that he can kick ghost butt without the use of his powers. That he wasn't just useless Fenton if he wasn't halfghost.
Danny sighed, maybe he did have mental issues.
Frank picked himself up from the ground, his jaw clenched as more rage boiled up inside him, "I can beat you. I will beat you"
Danny cocked his head, "Why don't you stand in line behind the ghosts and people that have already said that"
"I know your weakness," Frank ignored the comment.
Danny gasped and clutched at his chest, his face drawn with fake concern, "Oh no. You have figured it out. I am allergic to cats"
Frank narrowed his eyes, "It's the people!" He snapped, "You feel the need to protect this town so strongly that you are mentally attached to it and the people inside," the ghost's sneer widened, "It's your realm, isn't it"
Danny twitched and his mouth lowered at the revelation. No matter how much he denied it. He knew it was true. He hated the idea of having a realm. His territorium. Owning the town and the people in it just felt so.....wrong.
"You're wrong," he ground out through gritted teeth.
Frank laughed scornfully, knowing he'd hit a nerve, "It doesn't matter what you say. It's true and we both know it. And that means I know how to beat you," Frank ignored it when Danny tensed, "The people are your weakness"
The half ghost hybrid laughed, "No," he declared to Frank and himself, "they are my strength"
He sped forward and grabbed the ghost by the collar. He swung him and Frank hit the ground a few meters away. Danny blasted him with an ectoplastic ray.
He had taken a few steps, ready to squish the stupid ghost in the thermos before he decided that was too good for him, when the old lady's raspy voice came to his ears.
"Is that why you fight them?" She croaked.
Danny turned around, momentarily passing the ghost as not a threat. Frank was weak from Danny's attack. He may have been putting up a brave face but Danny knew it was a facade. And that last blast nearly finished the job.
Danny nodded in answer to the woman's question, a smile lighting up his face when he saw her head turned towards him and her eyes open. Although the rest of her wasn't moving.
The woman smiled back, "I still think you shouldn't be doing this and I still have half a mind to call the authorities to intervene and act on child abuse..... but I'm proud and happy that it's you and not some psycotic men with terrible sense of fashion"
They looked at each other for a second, understanding passing between them, when the woman broke the gaze and looked over his shoulder with wide eyes. Before Danny could turn around, something was thrown over him. He was thrown to the ground. Danny found he couldn't move much. He looked around and saw that he was caught in Frank's net.
The halfghost glared at the full ghost. He sat up, he had thought the ghost was too weak. When he got a really good look at him he realised he still was weak and probably low on energy. Danny snorted. Seems like he had enough energy to throw his net around him. It was a desperate move. He had thrown away his weapon. His last hope to contain the hybrid. Too bad it's not enough, Danny thought.
He tried phasing through. When that didn't work he tried to break it. It was strong. He tried with ectoenergy. Nada.
Frank was laughing, "That's the strongest rope there is. It's designed for fishing and let me tell ya, it's rough"
Danny's mind worked overtime. He had to find a way out. Let's see, what handn't he tried yet. His ice powers. But what help would they be. He could freeze the rope. Then absorb it back. What good did that do. The net was still there. Unless...
Frank stumbled forward, grinning, "I caught you now"
The rage inside the ghost intensified and he felt like letting it all out on this stupid hybrid. He had interrupted his search after all.
Frank stopped abrubtly. The boy was acting strange. His eyes were focused on the thick rope and they started glowing blue. Frank had seen them glow that color before. It was always when the hybrid was about to shoot him with ice. He grudginly admitted that it was a powerful ability. However, he laughed. Ice wouldn't get him out of this one.
Danny concentrated on the same coldness that sat in his chest. He felt it instensify and he pushed it out. Not just out his hand, but through every pore in his body. The net around grew rigid as the ice covered it. Danny drew back his fist, hoping it would work.
He swung. His fist broke the rope and went right through.
Frank stared slack jawed at the hole in his net. His net. His most precious..
"Stop!" He yelled as he saw Danny draw his fist back again.
Danny looked up. He frowned, "Why should I?"
The ghost fidgeted, "Just, don't hurt my net" he rearanged his face into a scowl.
Danny raised an eyebrow at the lame attempt at looking threateningly, "Aaaaand why should I not?"
Frank glanced at the still drawn back fist. He didn't say anything. He didn't need to. Danny understood.
"It's your.......", he stopped at the alarmed expression Frank was making. He knew why. Because the fishing net was this ghost's most prized possesion.
Every ghost had one. It could be something mental and very general, like Skulker's hunting, or an object, like Frank's net. This was what the ghosts would live for. It was the reason they existed. If they couldn't fullfil it, they would go crazy. It was their weakness, but it was also their strength.
The net was Frank's most powerful weapon, but it was also his vulnerability. That is the way of life. Your strenth is what keeps you going, but it's also your weakness, because if you lose it, you're vulnerable.
If other ghosts found out Frank's weakness, they could use it against him. He would be powerless.
So Danny held his tongue, even though the idiot had already revealed the halfghost's weakness. Any smart ghost would figure it out anyway, Danny pursed his lips, unfortunately.
He looked at a few teens that were holding up their cellphones from behind a building. He would have to ask The Phantom News not to show that part. The less people knew that his weakness were the people, the less world controling ghosts would find out.
He turned his attention back to the problem at hand. Fisherghost was fidgeting now, knowing Danny knew. The hybrid formed a plan.
Frank had about given up. The halghost had him at his mercy. He would probably destroy his net and send him to ghost zone so that he could slowly drive himself insane and never find the peace he had come looking for in the human realm. So saying that it was a surprise for Frank when Danny lowered his fist was an understatement.
"I will absorb the ice if you let me go," Danny narrowed his eyes, "aaand talk to me without the reckless and completely meaningless fighting"
Frank stood, mouth agape, before collecting himself and shutting his mouth with a snap. He nodded.
Danny absorbed it and waited for Frank to remove the net. The ghost hesitated just a second before working on untangling Danny.
"In my opinion, I fought pretty well," Frank grumbled.
This made Danny snicker, "Sure thing, dude. If you count a bit of floating and playing with water skill"
The ghost swung the last of the net out of the hybrid's hair and looked at the cut on his arm meaningfully, "What is that then?"
Danny shrugged, "Lucky throw. Bet you didn't even aim for my arm"
Frank smirked, "I did aim for the boy and the woman though"
Danny's eyes flashed brighter and he tensed, he hadn't forgotten them and hoped this could be solved soon, "Do not go there," he warned in a low voice.
Frank pressed his precious net tightly to himself. He backed up a little, knowing he'd gone to far.
Danny stood up stiffly and faced Frank warily. He heard the raspy breath of the old woman a few meters behind him and the image of the pale teenager a few streets from here kept nagging at his memory. He always had this. Of course there were many injuries that happened during a fight. He couldn't protect everyone. But it kept distracting him so he had learned to push it to the back of his mind and stay concentrated on his opponent. The injured would usually already be taken by an ambulance so that eased his conscience a little, but not everyone. Now that he looked around, the streets were still kind of empty apart from a few people here and there.
Anyway, the boy with the cut had probably already left and was getting some help and grandma was to close to the fight for anyone to safely approach her.
"So let me get this straight," Danny wanted to make sure, "I will help you and you stop destroying the place like a lunatic"
Frank rolled his eyes, "Yes"
"Pinky promise?"
"Pinky promise"
"With a cherry on top?"
"Can we get on with this," Frank retorted exasperated.
"With a cherry on top?!?!"
Sigh, "With a cherry on top"
Danny yerked his head in a nod and turned his back to walk towards the unmoving woman. Frank rolled his eyes and was about to follow when he got an idea. Danny was walking with his back to him, completely vulnerable. Frank's hand snaked to his belt for his last knife. All it takes is one knife in the back. He discarded the thought as soon as it came. The hybrid had sharp reflexes. He might not kill him and then the halfa would be furius and probably cut poor Frank into a million pieces. And Frank was in no shape to fight. Besides, the hybrid knew his weakness and hadn't done anything about it. In fact, he had offered his help. The hy- Danny was his only hope.
Frank's hand left the knife and he followed Danny with a resigned sigh. Danny crouched down next to the old lady who was looking on with wide eyes. Frank lowered his body and looked at Danny, wondering what the boy was planning on doing. He was met with a knowing smile. He knew, Frank realised with horror, it was a test. He was suddenly very glad that he had decided to trust him.
Danny looked away from the ghost and stared at the woman. She was seriously injured. Danny knew he should send for an ambulance but he wanted to try something. He remembered when Sam had told him about the power his frost seemed to posses. She had related how it had covered her arm and healed her bruises. After he had gotten out of the Fenton Ghost Heater and went to school he had decided to test it out. He had practiced on his two best friends and they had gladly been his guinea pigs.
However, as he looked at this woman, he knew this would be much more difficult. Danny glanced around him. Cameras. The trio had decided that this side of his powers should be kept a secret. If they knew, half the town would stand in line in front of his house.
An idea formed in the halfa's mind. He grabbed the ghost's hand and pulled him closer to sit next to him.
"Whoa, hey! Calm it!" Frank was surprised at the sudden contact, "I know I'm attractive but...."
He trailed off when he saw what Danny was doing. He jumped slightly when ice started forming in a circle around him, Danny and the old lady.
"Don't get to excited, fishface. You're not my type," Danny murmured. The ice slowly built up into a wall and connected at the top forming a dome.
Frank whistled appreciatevely, "An igloo?"
The igloo was two meters in diameter and one and a half high. Danny wasn't even out of breath, "So the cameras don't see this"
Frank didn't know how thick it was but he guessed very thick. He could omly see blurry shapes on the other side and he guessed it was the same for whoever looked in. He shufled, a bit uncomfortable, "What are you going to do?"
Danny gave him a funny look, "Don't you worry, unless you tell anyone about what I am going to do now. You are only in here cuz I don't trust you enough to leave you outside."
"And how do you know I won't tell anyone about what you're gonna do now?"
Danny shrugged, "Hey, you didn't stab me in the back so it's obvious that you understand that you need me. But that doesn't mean I'm about to trust you alone in my town"
Frank nodded understandingly and sat back to watch. Danny leaned forward and looked into the woman's face, who's wide eyes were still watching silently.
"Hey. I'm going to try to help you. Will you please tell me where it hurts?" Danny felt like he was talking to a 5 year old. The woman took a raspy breath, wich made Danny wince, and talked. "My head....and....barely breathe"
Danny lifted her head cautiously. It was bleeding profusely. Probably a concussion. He lifted up her shirt and paled. One of the ribs had been pushed up. It stuck up and though it didn't pierce her skin, it looked sick.
Danny swallowed. Could he do this. He just had to concentrate. He breathed deeply and placed his hands on her chest. He concentrated on the coldness in his chest. The hard ice immediately tried to push forward but he shoved it back. He searched and found what he was looking for. The soft, and apperently healing, frost. He connected it with his hands and let it go.
It was like a dam broke. The power surged out of him and covered the old lady's chest. The woman tensed for a moment but relaxed as the solft frost touched her skin. It spread like wildfire over her stomach and legs. It also went up and neck and covered her face. The woman closed her eyes before the frost reached them and she fell asleep. Danny struggled to stop the flow but it just kept coming out. His energy was draining rapidly.
Frank gasped as the frost crawled his way up his feet and legs. He tried crawling away from it but there wasn't enough room. Before he could float the frost had reached his stomach and he felt himself drop. He smiled. It was so comforting. He looked at the hybrid in amazement but his smile vanished when he noticed the strained look Danny wore. Drops of sweat that formed on his face immediately froze on his skin and his hands were shaking.
Danny summomed up a powerful flow of energy and closed the dam with one push. He fell sideways on top of Frank and the lady. Frank pushed Danny off him and was startled when a wide ring of light appeared at his waist. It split up into two and they went opposite directions. One covering his chest and head. Another his stomach and legs. The both disappeared in the end leaving behind a black haired boy with normal human clothes.
Frank marveled at the ghost-turned-human. So this is what he looks like in human form.
Danny opened his eyes blearily and lay there awquardly where Frank had pushed him. He tried to sit up but he shook so bad he let himself plop back down. Frank looked down at him in wonder.
"What just happened? What was that frost?" He noticed he was still covered in said element and brushed it off his clothes.
Danny just shook his head wearily. He had no energy to explain anything now.
Frank looked at his hands in wonder. Was it just him, or did his green skin glow brighter. He checked his shoulder, where Danny's ectoblast had hit him, and found clear and healthy skin. He lifted his shirt and looked at the bruising his stomach got when Danny shot his ice blast and sure enough it was healed. He moved his joints, testing it out. He felt great. It was as if he was young again.
"It's...part of m-....mah new powers," Danny croaked.
"They're new?!" Frank was shocked. He had heard the rumors that Phantom had new powers and that he was weak. Of course he did. But that was all. He never would have guessed that the new powers were the ice Danny had shown to master perfectly. Well almost, Frank added as he inspected the panting Danny. But those powers would certainly NOT label him as weak.
"I'm impressed," he said without thinking. Danny looked up at him questioningly. Frank sighed and continued reluctantly, "It's just impressive that you mastered your powers in such a short time"
Danny shrugged nonchalantly, "Not..... that short. It's......been a week. A week.....I've spend only..... prac-tising"
Danny struggled and was finally able to sit up, his back resting against the wall of the dome. Although it was uncomfortable, it was better than laying awquardly on the floor.
Frank settled himself into a more comfortable position. They lay there in silence as Danny regained his breath.
"So," the sudden noice startled Frank but Danny continued, "you wanted help with something"
It took the ghost a moment to figure out what the hybrid meant, "Oh, yeah"
Danny waited while the ghost gathered his thoughts.
"It's going to sound cheesy."
Danny waved his hand nonchalantly, "Dude, I'm all about cheesy"
The corner of Frank's mouth twitched up briefly. He relaxed, "It's just. I've felt so restless lately. While in the ghost zone I've been searching for what it could be but nothing seemed to appease me. I grew more frustrated as time went by. I didn't know what to do but somehow the human realm kept appearing in my mind. I hesitated a lot at first but when I heard that you were temporarily out of action I decided that it was now or never."
Danny frowned slightly but motioned at Frank to continue.
Frank did, "So I was looking around. I had only been here for 5 minutes when you came floating by and started annoying me," he scowled at said boy briefly but quickly got lost in the memory, "so we started fighting and I felt the water running underground. It was like it was calling me. And when I filled my net with it," Frank caressed his net and sighed contendly, "I just felt so......at home. It was very refreshing"
Frank trailed of and Danny figured he was finished. He stared hard at the ice, racking his brain for a solution to this dilema.
So Fisherghost is homesick. A place with water. Somewhere in the human world. Danny ran his hand through his hair. Where could he find a place like this. It had to be isolated. So that nobody would bother Frank and Frank wouldn't bother anyone. A smile slowly creeped into Danny's face.
"I got the perfect place for you"
Before Frank could utter a surprised word, someone groaned. Both of the boys' heads swiveled to see the old lady's eyes open hesitantly.
Danny sat up straighter in expectation. Now was the moment of truth. Had his healing power been enough for the woman's injuries?
Frost fell off grandma as she brought a slightly wrinkled hand up to rub her face. Her eyes snapped open as she took in her strange surroundings. Her gaze finally rested on Danny, who still looked pretty wiped out, and memory slowly came back to her.
Danny spoke up, "Can you breathe well?"
Warily, she took a deep breath. Her eyes widened in shock, "I- I can bre- it's so easy"
Danny scrunched his eyebrows in confusion at these half-formed words but he didn't say anything. The woman pressed her hand on her stomach. She didn't even flinch. She bend her legs experimentaly and rotated her arm at the elbow. Amazing, she thought, I feel as if I am twenty again.
Frank recognised the look she wore and knew she was following the same train of thought he had taken.
Danny, however, wanted to know more, "So? How does it feel?"
The woman looked at the boy she recognised as Phantom in amazement, "I used to have trouble breathing. Before this. And heart failure. My chest always felt so heavy. I could feel the sickness suffocating me. My bones were hard to move. I was so stiff," she paused and bend her fingers again to reassure herself that she wasn't in heaven yet, "It's all gone. The pain is gone. The sickness is gone. I- it's- it's just amazing"
Danny leaned back, eyes wide. He had healed that much? He felt great satisfaction at this. He smiled widely.
The old woman shook the frost off her clothes, "But how? What did you do? And what's all this snow?"
Danny's smile vanished. That's right! He had just shown his healing powers. He leaned forward to look at the woman in the eyes.
"You cannot tell anyone. This has to be kept a secret"
"What has to be a secret?"
Danny sighed, "My healing powers"
The lady frowned a bit. Then she looked at her hand, which could move perfectly. She looked at the frost that covered her from head to toe. She looked at Danny in human form.
Danny could see the gears turning in her head. He understood that this was a smart one.
The woman smiled at Danny, "Well of course I will not tell anyone," she chuckled when Danny let out his breath in relief, "Just imagine what would happen if everyone knew of the healing powers, that could maybe even heal cancer, of Phantom. You are wise to keep it a secret"
Danny nodded slowly, but his mind was stuck on that one sentence. The powers that could heal cancer.
Frank startled Danny out of his thoughts, "Can we get out of here? I'm getting claustrophobic"
Danny just noticed his sore neck and decided hew as right. He concentrated and absorbed all the ice from the dome. It took more time than it should but finally they were free. Frank streched out and the woman stood up swiftly. Danny just spread his body on the ground and watched tiredly as the two figures in front of him marveled at their newly healed bodies.
Danny sighed and touched his upper arm, where the deep cut was still present. It had healed slightly. It wasn't deep as before, but he would still need stitches. He wondered why his powers didn't work on himself. Tucker would gladly figure it out for him. Or he could ask his parents. If he told them about that side of his powers at all.
Frank looked at Danny from under his arm which he was stretching over his head. He inspected the gash and clenched his jaw, "I am not apologizing"
Danny smirked, "Too bad I already healed your wounds. Now I don't have anything to not apologize for"
Frank scowled, "Just show me that 'perfect' place for me," he turned around and started walking while not knowing where to go.
Danny shook his and followed him after waving at the old lady.
"Hey, smartass. It's this way!"
Frank huffed as he flew up into the sky after the laughing hybrid, "I was close, though!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"Wow," Frank looked around. His head wouldn't stay still. The forest they were walking through was dense. Tick fog seeped in between the bark and clouded their vision. It was nice and creepy.

They had landed and settled on walking because Danny didn't have the energy to fly. Danny smiled at the ghost floating next to him. He seemed to like creepy places. He couldn't wait to introduce Frank to Sam. His smile widened when he recognised the vage figure of a wooden sign. He knew what it said without reading it.

It had 'Amity Park City Limits' carved into it. Under it stood the name of the place where they were going.

Lake Eerie

Not long after, the lake itself came into view. It was pretty vast. The mist rolled in swirls accross its surface. Rocks were planted at one side and towered over the water.

Frank caught his breath. "It's perfect"

Danny smirked. "Told ya" he beckoned the ghost to go on, which he did.

Frank flew upward, leaving Fenton behind, and went to inspect every corner of this expance of water.

Danny positioned himself on a rock. He waited for Frank to finish playing tourist. He had known this was the right spot for the ghost. It was isolated, people tended to keep away from here. Unless they are Danny's dad, Jack, who once dragged Danny here with the idea of fishing. It proved to be a very bad idea when a sea serpent had eaten Danny whole.

Danny made a mental note to warn Frank about those and other creatures that surely swam in the bottom of this expanse of water. Although the halfghost had the feeling that wouldn't be much of a problem.

Fisherghost came back and landed a few meters from Danny, a crazy grin in adorning his adult face. He had a strange twinkle in his eyes, which gave him a childish look. As if he'd just been brought to life. Danny knew he'd found what he had been looking for. Peace.

"I'm guessing you like it?"

Frank was flabberghasted at such a term, "Like it?! I LOVE IT!!!"

5 months later^^^^

Danny smiled as he looked down at the newspaper that rested on top of his crossed legs. Jazz entered the living room and looked up at her little brother bobbing gently in the air a few feet above the table. His black hair waving around his face lazily.

"What is it?" She inquired.

Danny held up the paper and pointed at a particular headline.

Mysterious fast recovery of cancer patient!
Middleaged Jenny, who suffered of an untreatable tumor that had spread to her liver and kidneys, healed overnight! This is the third cancer patient that was cured inexplicably, not counting the many other impossible cases. One of which was in a comma after a car accident. We have gotten a notification of a child born blind who's eyesight was restored. The doctors are left with a dilemma. What is causing these....

Jazz laughed, "You have been busy!"

Danny shrugged. He was very happy that he could help them this way. Besides, it gave him a sense of satisfaction seeing them so happy. Speaking of that, it was about time he should visit a friend.

He let the paper fall on the table and floated to the door, "I'm going out with Sam and Tucker. Be back by dinner!"

"Going to visit your misterious friend again?"

Danny grinned back but didn't say anything. He phased out the door, he barely even used one these days, and reached for his core. He tapped into it and Danny Phantom came forth. He didn't have to do that but he liked the chills that came along with it.

Danny learned about his core from a ghost named Frostbite he had made friends with before this whole incident. Frostbite had ice powers too and had taught Danny of where they came from and what the 'coldness in his chest' was. The halfghost had slapped himself for forgetting about the ice manipulating yetis that lived in the ghost zone, but it didn't matter. He was lucky to have gotten into the Fenton Ghost Heater as soon as he did.

Danny knocked on the window of Tucker's bedroom and soon after it opened to reveal his best friend. After the whole fiasco, Danny had come to Tucker to discuss the reason of why his healing frost didn't work on himself. When they couldn't figure it out, they had asked the Fenton parents for advice. Jack gladly inspected Danny's frost and came to the conclusion that it had the same chemical reaction as his own healing powers. They both alter the cells to make them work faster which leads to advanced healing. Therefore, it wouldn't work on himself because the reaction was already happening.

"Sup. We going to fishface again?"

Danny laughed at the nickname he had given the guy. He nodded. He grabbed Tucker but not before he had warned his mom that he was leaving. They flew to pick up Sam. Besides Danny and his two best friends, only Danny's parents and sister knew of his healing abilities. His mother was forever proud of her baby and his dad just loved the new power. It fascinated him and he couldn't get enough of seeing it in action. He had even asked Danny to take him invisbly on one of his trips to the hospital. Jazz was as always his supportive big sis and he was happy to have them as his family.

They picked up Sam and Danny turned them invisible. He didn't want anyone to follow them and find out where they were going. They flew over trees, past the wooden sign and landed on the shore of lake eeeire. The only people who knew of Danny's new friend were Tucker and Sam. He hadn't even told his sister.

He let go of his friends and decided to make himself known. "Hey fishface!" His ghostly voice echoed accross the water, "If you don't come here, I'm gonna freeze your precious lake over"

Not a second later, the ghost rose out of the water, "You can't do that"

"Betya I can"

"Ok, I bet all your money that you can," Frank smirked.

Tucker stepped in, "That means you pay him if you can freeze it"

"Ladies, ladies. You're both pretty. Now can we please move on?" Sam interrupted what was sure to be a word battle, "So how's the catch?"

Frank immediately perked up and turned around to drag in his net, which was full of all types of creatures. Sam was the only one who showed any interest in all the strange fish he caught. Though she insisted he put them back after, as if he would keep the slimy creatures. He only fished for sport.

Danny leaned his back against a rock and talked with Tucker. He showed him the cool tricks he had recently learned with the water from the lake and his ice. He glanced over at Sam and Frank, who were holding up a disgusting and very strange serpent. He looked at Tucker, who was staring at A very realistic looking fish, frost making it more detailed.

Danny smiled. He knew that this wouldn't last long. But for now....everything was perfect.

O my gosh!
10,259 word count. This was supposed to be a simple chapter. What the frick happened. So yeah, I know it took awhile but its there. Its a pretty happy story and i know for a fact that the Phandom lovesss angst, but idk. I might try that out sometime. So i have some ideas but if you want something, just tell me please.
