Lee and Steve started the attack by riding in on motorcycles and getting soldiers to follow them. The back of Steve's motorcycle had a wire that attached to the two trees behind them, knocking two soldiers off their bike.

Lee was next and the back of her bike let out fire which got rid of two of them. The two remaining had gone a different path and were now beside them before moving in front of the two soldiers.

Lee and Steve made their bikes go faster so as they passed them Steve was able to ignite the bomb in one of the bikes.

Just ahead of them at the gates, there was a tank that tried to shoot at them but considering it was so big it wasn't able to be precise. So they sent their own tiny missile at it, completely destroying it. To miss the fire they went up the ramps either said of the tank and landed next to all the soldiers.

They let the bikes keep going as they jumped off so they crashed into a wall creating an opening to the base. Lee kicked one soldier, she sliced the other one and knocked three off their feet using her shield. Unfortunately, a moment later, they were outnumbered and captured.

The Hydra soldiers took them through the base and, luckily, to Schmidt's office.

"Arrogance may not be a uniquely American trait," he said as he walked over to them. "But I must say you two do it better than anyone. But there are limits, to what even you can do Captain, Ms Prince." He turned to Steve. "Or did Erskine tell you otherwise?"

"He told me you were insane." Steve said.

Schmidt nodded his head. "Ah. He resented my genius and tried to deny me what was rightfully mine. But he gave you everything," He elaborated. "So, what made you so special?"

Steve chuckled. "Nothing."

"He's just a kid from Brooklyn," Lee said. "From a rough area."

Schmidt looked at them both before punching them in the face. Lee just laughed as a small amount of blood dripped from her nose. "Damn, you have a good right hook," She complimented.

He continued to punch Steve and when he finally stopped the blonde looked up and said, "I can do this all day."

"Of course you can, of course." Schmidt nodded his head. "But unfortunately I am on a tight schedule." He pulled a gun out of his jacket. Just then you could hear three clicking noises. They looked to the window and saw three people zip lining in.

Lee smirked. "So are we."

It was Dum Dum, Gabe and James who came in and shot all the soldiers. James passed Steve's shield to him and then the two soldiers ran out. The corridor was empty but they both went right where they found Schmidt trying to run away, Lee became occupied as she was almost killed by one their freaky guns.

She jumped over it quickly before throwing her shield at him. Then she realised she had lost Steve. "Damn you Steve Rogers," She cursed under her breath.

As she ran round the corner she saw one of those big soldiers with the fire guns so she used  her magic, which she hadn't done in a long time, to blow up his back pack. And that's where she found Steve.

He came running over to her. "I thought you were behind me." He said.

"Well I was but then I almost got shot and I had a few things to take care of," She replied like it was obvious. He shook his head and smiled. "Shut up."

"Schmidt went this way, c'mon." He was about to run off when Lee finally got a surge of confidence. She grabbed his collar and kissed him out of nowhere. When she pulled away he seemed speechless but had a smile.

"What are you standing around for? Let's go." Lee laughed and Steve followed. Just like always.

20 minutes later and Steve had gotten aboard the plane, Lee had gotten occupied again by Hydra soldiers so she didn't have time to join him. Right now her and Morita were in the command room waiting for him to talk to them so they could find him somewhere to land.

"Come in. This is Captain Rogers, do you read me?" He came through the radio.

Lee ran over to where radio was and sat down on the chair. "Steve?" She asked. "Are you alright?"

"Lee, Schmidt's dead," He told her and she sighed in relief.

"Wait, what about the plane? We need to find you somewhere to land," She told him.

He hesitated. "That's a little bit tougher to explain." He said.

"Uh okay, give us coordinates," She told him. "I can find you a safe landing site."

There was silence on his end again. "Lee, there's not gonna be a safe landing site," He said softly. "But I can try to force it down."

Lee now noticed that she was the only one in the room. "Wait! I might be able to get Stark on the line, he'll know what to do." Lee was getting desperate.

"There's not enough time. This thing's moving too fast and it's heading straight for New York." He tried to reason with her. "I gotta put her in the water."

"Steve, come on, that's so stupid. We can figure this out, please." She begged him, tears beginning to form in her eyes.

"Right now I'm in the middle of nowhere. If I wait any longer a lot of people are going to die. Lee, this is my choice."

"I know." She whispered.

"Lee."

"I'm here."

"Thanks for being in the woods that day. I can't count the amount of times you've been there for me, even when I didn't know I needed anyone."

She let out a watery laugh as tears fell down her face. "You wouldn't have survived without me Steve Rogers." She told him.

"Can I have a rain check on that dance?"

"A week next Saturday, at the Stork club. Eight o'clock on the dot, don't you dare be late. Understood?"

"Yes ma'am. I'll be there." They both went silent for a minute.

"I love you," She admitted and she heard a soft chuckle over the radio.

"I know, and I-" He went to say but the radio cut him off.

"Steve?" She called, even though she knew he was never going to answer. "Steve?"

He was gone. The one person she had loved in the past 7000 years was gone.

Lee was now sat by herself in the newly rebuilt pub. They had won the war, which everyone was celebrating about. But she was by herself. Lee knew Ajak was going to kill her for involving herself with this so she erased everyone's memories of her ever helping the war efforts, they never knew her.

Lee was sat in her own booth by the window as the rain came down heavier. She had a picture of Steve in her jacket that the Colonel had given to her before erased their memories.

"Are you okay?" A voice asked snapping her out of her thoughts. It was Ajak.

She scoffed. "Just dandy." Lee downed the rest of her drink just as Kingo came over carrying beers with the help of Sersi and Sprite. "What the hell are you all doing here?"

"You look like you needed some comfort." Sprite told her and slid into the booth.

Kingo slid in the other side. "Not to mention it's really sad that you're sitting here by yourself.

Sersi sat across from her, as did Ajak. "Ajak told us what happened," Sersi said and looked at her with sympathy.

"That's fine, but I'm not sitting here talking about my failed love life," Lee told them and took her drink off Kingo.

"No one said you had to," Ajak said softly. "The war is over, and I think we should drink to that."

Sprite rested her head on Lee's shoulder who finally caved and lifted her drink. "Cheers!" They clinked their drinks together and finally did their part in celebrating.
