PRECAP : IN PREVIOUS CHAPTER, Manik kidnaps nandini. Nandini gets angry and they have a cute fight. Manik apologizes and Nandini asks him to untie her. Manik congrats himself that now the bird is trapped

It was a dark night. Grey clouds were fluttering across the starless sky, occasionally hiding the moon behind them. Street Lights were just there as a showpiece – occasionally blinking lights and then going out, giving a haunted look to the deserted street. The man kept himself to shadows, looking both ways to make sure no one was following.

Once he was sure, he walked briskly into the woods. He turned on the torch and started to walk deeper into the forest. It looked cold and menacing but he wasn’t worried as he knew this place like the back of his hand. He diverged from the path and walked in the narrow, muddy road which was hidden behind thick bushes. He walked till he reached the shed and knocked the door in a complicated rhythm to announce his arrival.

“Madhyam Singhania, do you know how much precious time of mine you have wasted? I have been waiting for ages.” A middle-aged man asked in an irritated voice.

Maddy rolled his eyes “No need to get knickers in a twist. I am only 30mins late. Besides I have to make sure no one is following me or do you want our plans to foil? He said mockingly.
“Humph, you are lucky that I still have your use otherwise –

“ Yeah yeah I know, you will have my head on pike or some outdated shit like that. Now can we get to the topic?”

The man perked up instantly. “Did you bring all the information?” He demanded.

“Target – Nandini Murthy

Age – 17 soon to be 18 years
Parents died in a mysterious car accident and lives with her aunt who is most of the time not at home.
Manik Malhotra’s current obsession. Studies in SPACE. Failed kidnapping attempt which happened twice, both time rescued by Manik. Doesn’t know about it. Wanted by the mafia nation.”
“So her aunt hasn't told her about the big red target on her back huh?”
“Nah, she is completely clueless” Maddy slumped on the chair beside the door. “Manik has already made a less than innocent contact with her. She already has been enamored by him. Pretty soon, she would be eating by his hands.”

“We can’t have that. That Malhotra will become the richest son of a bitch if he succeeds. Do anything you want but make sure that vixen doesn’t fall for the devil or else we are done for good.” 

MANIK'S POV

I walk into the shady club and order a beer. I glanced around and saw 4 men who I had seen the other day following me, sitting at the corner table. I act as if there is nothing wrong and leisurely lit a cigarette. I knew they were after me and had a good guess about why too. I place a heavy tip and leave the club without looking behind.

True to my prediction, they did follow me. I turned the corner and waited in the shadows, counting in my head.
As the shadow of the first man passed, I came in front and punched him in the stomach. He locked my legs with his and I rolled to the side. The second man attacked me with a knife but I backflipped and jammed my knees on his inner thigh. He fell with a pained groan. The other two attacked me together and jumped on me. I kept moving and when one tried to strangle me, I jabbed the half done cigarette into his eye. Taking advantage of the distraction, I twisted my body and kicked the other on the lower back, twisting his arms till it broke with an audible pop.
Holding his head captive in the side and sitting on his back, I put pressure till he grunted.

“Who sent you?” I asked in my business voice”

“Nngh”

“Tell me who. You don’t want this the hard way” I twisted his broken arm to get my point across.

“We don’t know. We were just given money and information by a masked man to follow you.”

“What information?”

“We were to make sure that you don’t get too cozy with that girl and if that happens to roughen you up.”
“Go to the masked man and tell him that there is nothing out of ordinary and you have no new information on me”

“We can’t do that he will kill us”

“And if you don’t then I will kill you and in the most messy, gruesome way that you can’t even imagine. And trust me I will know if you double cross me. I ain’t called the best for nothing.”

“ Treat this as a warning. Next time if I even see your hide or tail anywhere near me or nandini, you will wish for never being born.”

I left them there after warning them. This is going too fast, I would have to change my tactics. I have waited for years to get my revenge and will not allow anyone to snatch it away from me. Nandini is mine and will always remain mine even the devil couldn’t take her away from me.
