After some time Jungkook finally halted to a stop and Taehyung managed to reach him. He was completely ready to smack the younger and give him a piece of his mind for being so reckless but Jungkook wasn't alone anymore. Instead, there was another male with him.

Slowing down, Taehyung tried to catch his breath while not moving his gaze from Jungkook's form and trying to figure out if the other person was a threat to them. He also managed to notice that the kid wasn't even panting. 'How is he this fit?!' Taehyung silently questioned.

Coming closer, he glanced at the other male's face and immediately relaxed. Relief coursed through his body. He recognized the male - it was one of his friends, an older boy named Hoseok.

"Hoseok!" he shouted at him.

The other smiled brightly once he saw him. "Tae! You're here too? You're both okay?" They shared a hug.

"Yes. But we have no idea what the hell happened," Jungkook told him. "Or is happening."

"Wait, you two don't know what happened? About the vampires?!"

"Vampires? So it was vampires after all," Jungkook mumbled.

"No, we were in the cabin in the woods this whole week, we just came back," Taehyung answered. "Uhh... We passed by, Jungkook's house, and saw that his family was, uhh, killed..."

"My God! You two are lucky to even be alive!" Hoseok honestly expressed his disbelief.

"Hoseok, you gotta tell us what happened."

"I will, but it's not safe outside. We should hide somewhere."

"We could go to my apartment," Taehyung suggested. "Hopefully we won't find my stepmom there," h cringed at the thought. "But we could grab some stuff for now, and after I think we should go back to the cabin. We were safe there."

"So, you two really don't know anything?" Hoseok questioned as they hurriedly walked in the direction of Taehyung's apartment. Jungkook and Taehyung shook their heads.
"It was vampires," Hoseok began, "which apparently exist. They basically overtook the world now from what I gathered while the television and internet still worked. There were some TV reports from other places, like Canada, before it happened here, but nothing could've prepared us. They just started killing out of the blue. With no warning they just started killing out on the streets, walking in people's homes and killing them there too. After an hour or two, they stopped the killings and started taking people away. I think they mainly killed adults and elders. I didn't see any of them kill children though. Kids and teens, along with some young adults, were mostly taken away, from what I've seen at least, with the exception of those who struggled too much. But I'm unsure as to where and for what reason."

Jungkook's shoulder's slumped down. "So, my brother could've still been alive if he didn't struggle?" Hoseok gave him a sympathetic look and Taehyung gave him a bear hug.

"I mean there's no way of telling what happened to those that were taken away. For all we know they all could be dead by now too," Hoseok told him honestly.

"Don't think about it," Taehuyng whispered to him. "Wait, Hoseok, how did you even survive then?"

"That's the crazy part. I was out when it happened and when it started happening I managed to run back home. I somehow made it, it's all still blur honestly, and I locked myself inside my room and his in the closet. It was quite a run and I was extremely lucky but they broke into my home later too. One of them kicked down my doors and opened the closet. He definitely saw me. But he signed to me to stay quiet and just left. I heard him say to others that that was no one there, even though he clearly saw me. I have no idea why he decided to spare me."

"Woah, seriously?"

"Yeah, I still don't understand any of it! I stayed in my house for four nights before I ran out of food. I sneaked outside for a few minutes the next day. I've been going out for small periods of time since. To get some supplies and whatnot. There were still a few who managed to resist them but from what I've seen they all got subdued and taken away in the end. Or worse. I couldn't really afford to stay too close or approach anyone I spotted, the risk's too big. There are much more patrols at night, but it isn't safe during the day either. We have to be careful so as to not run into any of them. I can't believe I've stumbled upon the two of you."

"Wow, we seriously got lucky."

They walked inside Taehyung's building with him leading them.

"Can you guys wait here? I-I wanna go in alone. If my mum is there- I don't want you to see that."

"Are you sure you're going to be okay by yourself?" Jungkook squeezed his hand.

The older nodded, "I'm just gonna grab some extra stuff. And then we can go back to the cabin, it's safe there."

"Stay safe," Hoseok patted his shoulder.

Taehyung walked the stairs and reached his apartment door. Like all the others, they were open too.

He stepped in. "Mum?" He carefully looked around. There seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary so he walked to the living room.

And then all he saw was blood. He stepped in a puddle of blood. Lifting his gaze a bit he saw the body of his stepmother on the floor. Her eyes were wide open and there was a familiar-looking wound on her neck. But she wasn't breathing.

Taehyung was mentally prepared for that. He already knew that the chances of her being alive were anything but astronomical.

But nothing could have prepared him for the sight on the couch. Above his mother's body, sitting on the couch was none other than...

his father. With red eyes and bared fangs. And blood staining his mouth and chin.

"D-dad?"
