Jimin was going crazy. It's been a week. He's been going crazy for a week.
Was it even a week?
He tossed and turned in his bed again. Every night was the same. It was a cold night but he was burning.
Those two strangers were still vivid in his mind like he saw them a second ago. He saw them every time he closed his eyes.
With a groan, Jimin kicked his blanket and sat up on his bed. He was a fool if he thought he could forget. He massaged his forehead, wishing he could just fall asleep. And possibly not dream of them. He didn't even need to sleep for God's sake, he was a vampire and he usually didn't sleep, opting to spend his time doing funnier and more interesting things. But now he just wanted an hour of sleep. Just an hour of not having to think and see those two strangers.
But he obviously wasn't going to get any sleep tonight so he stood up and went towards the kitchen. He needed to quench his thirst. Recently his bloodlust was abnormally high. He was trying to control it, but the desire was just so sweet.
He opened the fridge and took out a blood bag. He sank his teeth into it and he distantly heard himself purr in content. Since he met those two human boys the high he got from it never lasted long enough but those few moments when he imagined he was sinking his teeth in their petit necks was enough to leave him spinning and feeling dizzy.
However, the feeling this time lasted significantly shorter. Jimin snapped his eyes open when the lights turned on.
He could see two figures in the armchair next to the couch.
"Again, Jimin?" The voice boomed in the silence of the night.
Jimin internally groaned and rolled his eyes while putting down the blood bag and trying to wipe away the blood on his face with his hand. The blood bag was still half full which was a shame to Jimin. To Jin though, it was already half empty and that was worrying. Jin stood up from his place on Namjoon's lap and walked over to Jimin.
"You've been drinking way too much lately Jimin. It's not good," the oldest lectured taking the blood bag in his hands. Needless to say, Jimin really wasn't in the mood for a repetition of that particular conversation. "Why are you two even here?" Jimin asked once Namjoon joined them.
The two olders shared a look and blushed slightly but Jimin still found them shameless. "I was just trying to distract Namjoon from work all the time," Jin answered.
"Thanks for that image," Jimin muttered avoiding looking at his hyungs. Namjoon was the leader of their clan, a king proclaimed by those under them. I was only fit for a king to have an equally as strong queen by his side. In Namjoon's case, that role fulfilled Seokjin, love of Namjoon's life. Seokjin always had firm opinions but was also more gentle in some situations, usually relying on his emotions and feelings. Paired with Namjoon, who was more of a logical person, always listening to reason, nobody could deny that they made a wonderful match and a great pair. Jimin loved them as their friend but he also deeply respected them. They often annoyed him, well them (him and Yoongi) but Jimin always admired their relationship while also being a little bit jealous of them. Jimin never loved someone outside his clan, his family. And he longed for that kind of relationship they had. And just thinking about love made two now very familiar figures flash in his mind. The soulmate legends also came to his mind again. Could it be true?
"Hey, hyungs," he stated causing two pairs of eyes to snap at him.
"What is it, Jimin?"
"How- how did it feel when you two met?"
"When we met?" Namjoon asked confused.
"Like, did you feel... anything... right away or?" Jimin tried to explain but he wasn't feeling confident enough and was unsure how to put what he wanted to ask into words.
"It was nothing special at first I guess," Jin answered him, sensing in what direction Jimin was going.
Namjoon nodded and decided to continue. "You know that unlike us, Jin was turned into a vampire. I found him like that in pretty bad shape."
"He helped me and offered me a position in his clan. Obviously, I accepted. One thing led to another, he confessed pretty awkwardly a few months after and here we are now."
"I wasn't awkward."
"Sure you weren't," Jin teased him and pecked his cheek.
Jimin nodded in understanding, happy that his friends answered him without problems, but he didn't get what he wanted and he didn't want to bring the soulmate thing up now. He didn't want to, but it was eating him out inside. The two olders noticed how antsy he was acting and asked him what was wrong.
"I- just... Do you know those soulmate legends, where like, your heart starts beating and stuff like that... Do you think they could be true?" Jimin asked thinking about two humans who made his heart actually beat.
Jungkook woke up feeling better than when the week began. But there was an empty space beside him and he grunted. He got up to look for Taehyung.
The sun was shining, not as brightly as Jungkook thought it would with such clear sky but it was better than the storm a week ago.
Back then, they somehow made it to the cabin but during the night the weather only got worse and it didn't stop the whole next day. Jungkook and Taehyung spent it safely under the covers. Jungkook may have cried the whole time and whimpered with every thunder but he had a hunch that Taehyung wasn't feeling much better at the time either.
Jungkook frowned when he saw that Teahyung wasn't in the kitchen. He concluded the older was in the bathroom as the only other room was the bedroom and there was no reason to go there, they slept in the living room after all. So, he quickly made himself a sandwich, scowling when he noticed everything sweet was eaten. He grabbed a bottle of chocolate milk happy that at least that survived Taehyungs never-ending cravings.
But then he heard a sneeze from the bedroom. Confused, he opened the door to the room. "Taehyung?" His friend was sitting on the floor, his upper body inside a wardrobe.
"Oh, Jungkook!" The boy exclaimed and scrambled back hitting his head on the shelf in the process.
"Careful!"
Jungkook rushed to him and kneeled next to him. "What are you even doing here?"
"I- I was looking for some blankets— Achoo!"
"Are you getting sick?"
"It was just a sneeze, Jungkook, relax. It's probably from all the dust."
"We should probably go to the city and get some medicine, we never know when we'll need it. Plus we are going to run out of food soon," Jungkok said worried about his hyung.
They agreed, got ready, and soon they were back in the town.
"Woah, is it just me or is something seriously different here?" Taehyung asked as they were walking through one of the streets that were closest to the woods.
"Right?" Jungkook agreed, squeezing Taehyung's hand. "It's been a week but it feels like so much changed."
They took a turn to one of the closest stores.
"It's weird, so far we haven't seen a soul. There should be people outside at this time of the day," Taehyung commented, studying their surroundings while Jungkook went to open the door of the store. "This is weird. It's closed."
"What?" Taehyung turned around and gawked at the door. "But it says it should be open! It's working hours! And there is no notice they're on vacation—" Jungkook pressed himself closer to Taehyung.
"Tae—" he almost choked. "This is not normal. Do you smell that?" Taehyung sniffed the air and his face scrunched in disgust. "The stench?" Jungkook asked and Taehyung nodded in affirmation, covering his nose.
"We should go away," Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's wrist and pulled him away. He turned and walked a random street but it seemed like the stench was following them. Even getting stronger.
"It's almost metallic," Jungkook said, gripping Taehyung's arm.
"It's like rotting flesh," Taehyung said rubbing his nose in hopes of making the smell go away. "Agh, why is it everywhere!?" He abruptly stopped. "I-is that blood?"
Both of them paled at the sight of the blood on the street. It was a trail of blood — like something was dragged away. Jungkook looked around and noticed more similar trails, puddles, and stains.
"Oh my God, it's everywhere!" Taehyung yelped taking a step back. He fractally turned toward the younger but to his surprise, Jungkook was running forward. He wanted to scream at him and ask where was he going but no sound left his throat and he was left shaking in the middle of the street. His mouth was wide open and he tried to calm himself and steady his breathing.
It was useless and he kept trembling but a sudden shriek that unmistakably belonged to Jungkook made him move despite the dread he was feeling. He ran in the direction he could hear Jugnkook's cries coming from and he instantly recognized the place as Jungkook's house. Well, his family's house.
He ran in and saw a terrible sight.
"They're dead!"
