Chapter 5

After Monokuma's "funeral" for the Monokubs, things become tense between a your close friends. You haven't seen Kokichi since the last trial.

While at breakfast, you say you want to look for Kokichi.

"No!" Kaito shouts. "It's too risky! He might be up to something!"

"Kaito!" Shuichi yells. "Calm down."

Kaito shuts up and glares and Shuichi, because he is still mad about the trial yesterday.

You get up to make some pancakes when Tsumugi runs in.

"H-Hey! G-Guys!" She says freaking out. "The rock that Gonta saw with the letters! It wrote out 'This world is mine -Kokichi Ouma'. What does that mean?!"

"It might mean that it was all some big prank?" You say, giving him the benefit of the doubt.

"I swear," Kaito says, "if it wasn't for the laws of this land i would've slaughtered him already-" he looks back at you and stops. "Sorry."

"It's okay." You smile. You know he's just scared and tense. He doesn't mean what he says.

"I actually believe it's harder to get away with murder here than in real life." Maki points out.

"Because it has its own set of rules and expectations." You point out.

"What?" Maki looks confused.

"Well," you begin a Ted talk, "In the outside world, there is no right or expectance of murder in our society, so you have to seek around the rules. However this is similar to a small society that says murder is legal if you follow these rules and risk death. Because of this, Monokuma fully expects all of us to make these movements or actions, so he makes a system that makes it harder on both sides and calls it a game. A because it a small society, you only have a limited number of people. I think the biggest part though is that there has to be some form of cameras and the actual murders and trials is a distraction from the fact that we are all being watched by our every action, and that will lead to huge consequences in the future. But you can't do anything about the cameras or people watching because of fear and the fact that you don't have higher authority. It's like China. Almost no one would rebels against them in fully surveiled system. It almost feels impossible... Anyways, rant over."

"Thank God." Himiko says. "Now, let's eat!"

All of you ate happily, because you all didn't have to hear the author's stupid monologue.

You decided to walk around the school, looking for Kokichi. You were really worried at this point.

You looked at the E-handbook's map and it said that Kokichi was in his room.

You rung his dorm bell but he didn't come out. You rung it again and nothing. You decided he was being stubborn and not answering the door. So you pulled what called a pro Kokichi move. You rung the door bell multiple times in a row.

"Kokichi! It's me!" You yell. "Hello!"

Because you got nothing, you pulled off another Kokichi movie and pulled out a lockpick from your lab. You unlock it and crack the door, not looking into the room, but pulling your arm into the doorway so it won't close.

"Okay," you say, "I'm coming in on three."

"It's fine." Kokichi says. "You can come in. No hiding this now can I? Nehehehe!"

You had no idea what that means, but you were glad to finally hear his voice.

(Trigger warning)

You open the door. You find Kokichi with a knife with blood and cuts all over him.

"K-Kokichi." You say slowly, knowing something might set him off. "P-Put the knife down."

"Aww man." Kokichi puts the knife down in defeat.

"Okay good." You say, hoping it's safe to approach him. "Let's get you cleaned up."

"Yeah." Kokichi says and walks over to you. You make space in the doorway to let him go through. You and him walk over to the Dinning Hall, where Kaito decided to leave his first AID kit from his Lab, just in case something like this or worse happened.

You know you could have brought the kit to him, but you haven't talked it out. You didn't want to risk him commiting suicide while you were gone.

You bandaged him up and both sat on the Dinning Hall chairs. Kokichi was looking down the inter time.

When he's all bandaged up, he says, "Wow! Thanks! Probably go-!"

You grab his arm and say "No. We need to talk. Sorry."

Kokichi sit back down, dreading this.

"You don't have to go into full detail about everything in your life." You say. "But I need to know what made you push you to this point. So I can help you. Tell me, and maybe cry it out. We can find other coping mechanisms. It's not the end of the world. I promise."

You hold out your hand and he talks it. He starts bursting out into tears looking down. It's different tears that the fake ones before. He's genuinely sad. I understand.

"... Gonta." He say finally says under all his breath. "I killed Gonta! I finally thought I had something! And Mui! I hurt others close to us."

"May I ask?" You know you have to be careful with this question. "Why did you do it yesterday?"

"Because I had to! Okay!" Kokichi cried and yelled. He toned down his voice and explained, still crying. "Mui kept me before she tried it.

Mui: If you want to fight off Monokuma, go do it! I'm going to stick by his freaking rules and be safe!

Mui: I'm sorry Kokichi. I have to do it. My inventions will rule the day and they will chang the world. I have to do this!"

Kokichi continued. "She was going to kill no matter what I did. And she was going to kill me. ME! So I acted fast. I managed to get her b-before she could. But know at what, cost? Gonta. He was like a brother to me. The opposite to me, but there... But it all could be a lie, right?" He tried to smile creepily on that last part be failed miserably.

"You didn't need to kill kill them." You said. "You probably would have told us about Mui but then we'd all call you a lair. That's probably part of the reason she choose you. That and you could see through her lies easily."

You understood that he felt hopeless in that moment, realizing Mui was going to kill him and he probably had no other choice.

Kokichi started to hug you, crying into your chest.

"I understand I can't can't say that I've done this, but I can say that I'm here to except you." You say. "And giving people second chances. I realized your position and I'm sorry I couldn't help you sooner. So I will from now on. Run to me if you are ever sad. Come to me of you ever feel in danger. Please, I want to help you, because I care and like you. Please, don't hurt yourself. I don't like the idea of a friend of mine hurting themselves for not expecting themselves. Because I accept them no later what."

He he cries for a while and you hug him and comfort him. After three full hours of crying and being with him, he finally starts to calm down.

You hold his hand and both walk into the kitchen and you get him a glass of water.

While in the kitchen, Kokichi says, "Will you be there fore in the darkest of times?"

You say, "Of course. If you ever need me, I'll be there. I trust you!"

"A horrible decision, really." Kokichi says back. "Remember what I did?"

"I still accepting you, and that's my decision." You say back.

"So you trust me?" He asks.

"Yes." You say back. "I promise."

You give he's glass of water and he tries to smile to the gesture. He doesn't do too well at it.

Kokichi then says, "Tomorrow night at 12:45am. That's when you'll need to know that you trust me."

You look at him confused. He drinks down his water and manages that fake smile again.

"Welp! That's all from me!" Kokichi says. "Remember, 12:45am."

You want to ask, but he intrupes.

"Just trust me okay?" He says. "I mean, if you can~."

You agree. "Yeah, I can."

"Wonderfull!" He says. "I'll see you then!"

"W-Wait actually!" You stop him from leaving. "Can we watch a movie or something for the rest of the day?"

You don't want him running off again and getting triggered.

He hesitates and then says, "Yeah! Sure!"

Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusion! was in the TV room, so you spent some time together watching that. At some point, he leads on your shoulder and you fall asleep on him. Around dinner, you wake up and you and Kokichi eat and head to your forms to sleep.

Kokichi, while laying in bed though to him self; "I can't let this fail. For them..."
