Ughhhhhhhhh

I feel bad venting about a character like Sonia because whenever she does get hate, it's for reasons like "she's too nice!" Or "she gets in the way of *insert ship*" which just makes me feel dumb or annoying. But I want to express my annoyance for her, so here I go.

So I have finished SDR2 by now, and while this has been edited due to Sonia being a lot less annoying now, I still want to vent about her.

At first I loved her, I'm gonna be honest. I though she was the sweetest thing and just wanted to learn about Japan while she was away from her kingdom, and had dark interests which separated her from your stereotypical princess.

But recently she's just been.....annoying to me. And here's why:

1• The only time she really gets angry is with Kazuichi.

This one is understandable. Kazuichi is literally her stalker. He doesn't even try to hide his crush and is super creepy towards her. He has absolutely zero chill, so it's understandable that she gets angry with him.

But what bothers me is that the only time she directs her rage towards anything is with Kazuichi. Not towards Monokuma, not towards any of the killers, just Kazuichi.

Again it's understandable she would be upset, he's her stalker. But couldn't she direct her anger to something else? Something a bit more serious like, oh I don't know, ONE OF THE LITERAL KILLERS WHO MURDERED PEOPLE SHE CONSIDERED HER FRIENDS?!

Maybe this is just me since I would prioritize a killer over a stalker, but still, it gets on my nerves. Not to mention the only time she even got SOMEWHAT ANGRY towards Souda was in chapter 4, and that was it. After that she doesn't direct her anger period. Not even to Junko, the freaking mastermind!

2• In the later chapters, she's been getting mad at everyone for not understanding her country's customs.

Ah cultural differences. Don't we love them?

But onto the second part of this rant, in chapter five, I've noticed that Sonia gets kinda......frustrated when people don't understand her country's customs or terms. Which I honestly, find really stupid.

For one, no one knew her country existed until she explained she was a princess and told them her country's name. How the actual fuck are they going to understand the customs of a country that they didn't even knew existed?

I mean, imagine you go to a country and make friends there, and then you start using slang that they aren't familiar with because of cultural differences, and then get mad at them for not understanding? She's a visitor to another country, she can't make everyone change their slang and terms just for her. While we do see her try and use some more common slang though, that doesn't mean that her annoyance towards other when they don't get what she's saying doesn't bother me.

Now before I get yelled at, I want to say that I actually don't hate Sonia. She's an interesting character and has her own perks, but it's just that in the more recent chapters I've been watching, she's been getting increasingly annoying. This was just a rant, that's all.
