NIGHT TERRORS
[Leon Kuwata x Female!Reader]
— —

"Correct! Leon Kuwata has been found out as the blackened, and murdered Miss Sayaka Maizono!"

Heaving in a breath, you clutched and clasped at your throat as you sprung up from your pillow, practically falling out of your bedsheets in panic. You felt that sweat bead down your forehead and drip from your chin as your hands trembled against your shoulders, holding yourself; the sounds of your boyfriend's screams ringing loudly in your ears, almost vibrating. You hated how real it sounded, how it all felt, like its happened before... but you were only dreaming. At least you hoped.

It kept reoccurring over and over every night... you couldn't take it anymore. You didn't tell him because you didn't want to bother him with it, but your nerves were getting to you... you had to check on him, as the feeling with dread loomed over you and clung to your body like puppet strings.

Shifting your sleep-deprived eyes over to your alarm clock, the bright red letters made you flinch: 2:46am.

He must have been asleep at that time, but you knew he almost never turned his ringer off, so you gave in and grabbed for your phone, hurriedly unlocking it and watched as your thumbs shakily scrambled for his contact. You hit call, and you didn't know what it was, but the heavy sinking on your heart increased and made your bottom lip quiver, activating a stream of tears with it. The anxiety coursing through you almost made it impossible to hold your phone properly against your ear, so you held it in your lap and listened intently on the soft ringing as you set it to speaker.

After about five rings, there was a small click and you could hear his voice at the other end; he sounded so exhausted and out of it, but just the sound of his vocals was enough to ease you a little.

"Hey, babe... what's up?"

You couldn't help it, as you sobbed into the phone speaker, clutching the device close to your chest as if you were going to absolutely lose your mind. "I-I just... I'm so sorry, I... Leon, I'm so... I-I'm so glad that you're okay, I..." you proceeded to break down, a quaking hand over mouth after you barely got out your words.

The dreams were so ominous with their settings, the little mono-bear, and even the executions. They couldn't have been at all real, but the overwhelming amount of complete worry overtook your judgement. Being so scared over something so irrational, you almost felt pathetic... like it was all just some big sob story. Apparently that didn't cross Leon's mind, though, as you could hear him fully sit up from his bed while his voice held a fully-awakened tone.

"Hold on, me? Are you okay? Do you need me to come over?"

You nodded, your unstable breathing getting caught in your throat a few times as you spoke, "Y-Yes, please... I'm sorry..."

"Don't be, okay? I'll be right over, just sit tight, you hear me?"

Within about fifteen minutes or so, you heard the lock on your front door from downstairs turn with a key, and the whole thing open. You gave him a spare key, because you figured it'd be okay, since he'd been your boyfriend since the beginning of high school— you both were currently working out a plan to move in together, as you graduated from Hope's Peak almost a year ago now, but getting the money wasn't working out so well in your favor; you weren't unemployed, but with Leon trying to start up his band, it was just taking up more time than you expected, and you were actually the band's drummer. Currently, your parents were out on a business trip for a few days, so you were home alone... making Leon's entrance at three in the morning perfectly fine.

"(Y/n)?" He called out quietly, walking up the stairs and knocking on your bedroom door before just softly pushing it open. Seeing your curled up form wrapped in a blanket with a tear-stained face made his face drop. He kicked off his shoes and stepped into the room, shutting the door behind him. "Are you okay? Something happen to your folks on their trip?" The red-haired boy inquired, reaching out a hand to you, slowly.

Gladly inviting him over, you opened one arm to sit with you under the blanket, Leon obliged and sat down onto your bed, back against the headrest, and slid an arm around your waist as he took the blanket corner from you and weaving it over his own shoulder. You shook your head at his question, as you leaned your head against his chest and closed your eyes, attempting to rid them of the lingering tears; they were also just plainly heavy from your previous sobbing.

"No..." you piped out, listening in on the thumping of his steady heartbeat, allowing yours to still and follow tempo with his. "It's been happening for while now, but I didn't want to tell you because it was kind of silly at first... b-but not its been really bothering me." You admitted through shaky breaths.

"Nightmares?" He quizzed, pretty much taking every context clue and piecing them together; for not the best book-smart student, but he was really good at reading people.

Taking a moment to collect yourself, you nodded. Leon shifted his arm around you up your back and to your temple, rather gently running his fingers through your hair. (Or just rubbing your back if your hair is too short for that.) "I-It was... about you, actually."

Looking up at him to see his facial expressions, he seemed a bit shocked, but he was completely serious and intently focused on you; purely silent, even... you hadn't seen him like that in a while, you didn't quite know how to react to that.

You continued to explain everything about the night terrors, everything from the class trial between all of your high school friends, him being found out for killing Sayaka... and worst of all, his execution. Him pleading for his life as he was strapped to a goalpost, a baseball pitcher set to max began pelting him, causing massive blood splatters and gasps around the batting cage.

Leon sighed afterwords, and rested his head against yours, without a word. And honestly, you didn't need to hear anything from him, as his embrace was nice enough. You knew what he meant, and was all you needed, just a peaceful moment to take in his presence.

Goodbye nigh terrors, you suppose.
