Chapter 3: Growing Tensions

I left my room, leaving the pictures behind. I wanted to get the images out of my head, but they stayed clear in my mind. I saw Michio and Satchiko talking in the hallway, so I approached them.

"Hey, Kazuki, did you get pictures too?" Michio asked with a small frown.

"Yeah..." I responded.

Satchiko looked completely paranoid. "M-my brother and sister... t-they can't really be...."

"I'm sure it's just photoshopped or something... it can't be real." I stated, though not sounding very confident.

"Nope! I assure you, the pictures are 100% legit!" Monokuma said, popping out of nowhere.

Michio glared at him. "Get out of here, you stupid bear."

Monokuma faked a look of betrayal. "Nobody appreciates my greatness." He waddled away to sulk on his own.

Once he was gone, Michio turned back to us. "I was thinking we should gather everyone up to talk about this. Y'know, make sure no one takes it too far."

Satchiko quickly nodded. "Yeah, let's do it!"

"Well, let's find everyone else then and meet at the entrance in... a half hour." The blond stated. Satchiko and I both nodded, and headed off to find the others.

"Even if it is fake, how'd he get pictures of her!?" Natsumi exclaimed. "That fucking bastard better not have done anything to my mom!"

"It's okay Natsumi... I'm sure she's fine." Katashi said in a comforting tone.

Everyone had gathered in the hotel entrance, and needless to say, no one was happy about our current situation. I had to give the mastermind some credit... this really was an effective motive.

Akio was a wreck. He was clinging to the arms of his chair, gritting his teeth, and looking like he was trying to hold back tears. "If he hurt her... i-if he touched her...."

"This is what the mastermind wants. They want us to get angry and emotional like this." I pointed out. "So let's just calm down and think about this."

"Kazuki's right." Kaiya said, petting Cinder who was currently laying on her lap. "I-I know those pictures were awful... b-but... but killing's wrong no matter what!"

"Plus, if those people are dead, they're already gone. There's nothing we could do anyways..." Jikkō stated, but I could see a hint of emotion in her usually blank grey eye.

I let out a small sigh. I couldn't blame everyone for freaking out, I was panicking a bit myself. I guessed that it wouldn't take long for someone to snap... and that could be anybody.

A day had passed, and some were starting to calm down about the photos, while others were even more distressed. As I was about to leave my room, I heard Akio's voice in the hallway.

"I won't calm down! My little sister could be hurt!" Akio yelled. "I'm going to find a way out, no matter what!"

I heard footsteps walking away, and assumed that the skateboarder had stormed off. I opened my door, heading out of the room and seeing Michio standing nearby.

"What was that all about?" I asked him.

Michio gave a small shrug. "I was just telling him to calm down about this whole thing until we could figure out what to do. As you can probably tell, it's really affecting him..." He let out a small sigh. "If only Jirou was here...."

"Yeah... well, I'm sure we'll figure out something." I replied. "Besides, it didn't sound like he wanted to kill someone. He's just upset... I don't blame him."

Michio nodded. "You're probably right." He paused for a moment, before his gaze softened. "Hey, I was about to head over to the music studio, care to join me?"

I gave a small nod. "Yeah, sure."

We began walking together, and as we did, Michio started up a conversation.

"So, if you don't mind me asking, who was it for you?" He asked.

I immediately understood what he meant. I hesitated for a moment before speaking. "My little brother, and my ex... you?"

"My twin sister and this girl I liked." Michio responded.

"Oh, I didn't know you were a twin." I said.

Michio nodded. "Yeah, I am. We aren't as close as you'd think, though." He paused for a moment. "But of course I'm still worried about her, she's my sister after all."

By now we had made it to the new street, and before I could respond, Riku was running towards us with a horrified look on his face.

"Come with me, i-it's Kaiya!" He exclaimed, and we quickly followed him towards the school. Fear was rising in my chest, and I could only hope that she was okay.

We entered the school, turned a corner, and that's when I stopped. With her back against the wall, laying there still, was the ultimate cat lady. There was no blood to be seen, but before the relief could settle in the monitors switched on.

"A corpse has been discovered! After a short amount of time, a class trial will be held."

There was no helping it now. Kaiya Minami was undeniably dead. And now we had to find out who did it.
