1. Naegi Makoto

Naegi didn't remember much of the 76th class students, rather his seniors. But he did remember a certain Y/N.

Not a lot, but more than he thought he would remember. He didn't know what her fate was, where she was, if she was still alive. But he wanted, no, needed, to find her. The question how, was his enemy.

But he knew well what he had to do, he knew all too well.

Hope's Peak.

He had to go back. Back to the school where his friends had murdered each other because of their own classmate, the school that started a worldwide war. But he was willing to find any information he could about her.

He had vague memories of sweet Y/N and how she had snuck into his dorm one night to just play monopoly with him. Naegi smiled at the the thought. Y/N never really not make a huge scene in Hope's Peak. She was the center of attention. The joker to it all. Which was completely different from Y/N's talent.

Y/N was Super High School Level Logistic. She was supposed to be one of those nerds that thought too much about every single thing and questioned every thing that happened. Yet she seemed to be the opposite of it.

Naegi Makoto stepped over the ruins of the destroyed school, over the blood of his seniors, teachers, friends. He could feel his heart pound against his ribcage as he stood in front of the third year's lockers. He inhaled deeply, and started opening all of them, one by one.

Until he stumbled into one with stacks of notebooks. Nothing else but notebooks. There must have been a hundred or more. He had grabbed the one in top, the latest one before the event, Naegi thought.

He flipped through the pages, expecting a clue to her. But he only found out how amazing her talent was. She had marked the date before as 2 months before the incident. She had been working for with the school to get rid of despair.

And she had found out who despair was. Naegi's hands shook. She had found out before anyone had. And that was her last entry. He was scared for her fate. He grabbed the oldest notebook of hers and flipped through the thoroughly used notebook to find drawings in every page.

Naegi could feel a small smile landing on his face.

'Naegi is a nerd.'

'S- senpai! I'm not' Was written in Naegi's handwriting.

Naegi's eyes widened as he quickly flipped through the notebooks as fast as lightening.

In all the old ones, he had found his handwriting on the edges of the pages.

'Hey, Naegi. Thank you.' [Name]'s cute handwriting was scribbled down on the last page of the notebook.

'No, I should thank you, [Name]-senpai.' Naegi had written down.

Naegi stared at his handwriting. What was she thanking him for? Why did it make his heart drown. Why did it make him so sad.

He opened a new notebook and saw her next entry.

'Naegi told me he likes me. I don't know what to do! This isn't like me! There's no logic to that! Why does he like me?! I don't understand! My head hurts! What are you doing to me, Naegi Makoto!' Her handwriting was scribbled out as if she were so stressed.

Naegi chuckled. He knew he must've done something like that to remember her and want to find her. He knew she held a dear place in his heart.

The rest of the notebooks were her investigations. Until the reached the last one again, before the incident, when the cover suddenly opened in two and a piece of paper fell out.

'If you find this, it might have been too late already, Naegi. Enoshima Junko might have already succeeded. She wants to erase your memories. She knows I know. I must flee. It is no longer safe for me here. If you ever find this, which you probably will because of your talent, I want you to remember me. Remember me as the girl who never told you she loved you. Because I did. I really did, and I'm sorry I never told you that.

- [Name]'

Naegi dropped the notebook and rummaged through her locker, she couldn't be gone.

He was finally remembering. Remembering why she was so important. A year before the incident he had fell in love with a girl he met in the library, snacking on chocolate underneath the table. A girl who was so interesting and so weird. [Name], whose talent was so different from personality. He had told her he loved her the day she had been called to the principle's office for unknown reasons.

She told him she couldn't give him her answer yet. And told him to wait for her, wait until she was ready. He finally knew why.

She was doing dangerous, complicated equations for the school. She had risked her life and didn't want his on the line.

Naegi hoped she wasn't what he thought she was.

Naegi bet on his luck that he would find leads to her, and finally, his luck had finally worked.

He found Enoshima Junko's tracker.

And she was tracking down [Name].

A few days after he found her location, he had set out to find her.

At first, Naegi didn't believe she would be there, or that she could be there in fact.

And he was right. [Name] was as smart as Enoshima, even Kirigiri. She had found the tracker and left it along with a note for Enoshima to go F herself.

He just hoped [Name] was still alive.

As he continued his search for months, he had found the 77th class. And bumped into Hinata, who happened to know of her.

"She won't be found unless she wanted to be found," he had said to Naegi.

And so Naegi did everything to gain her attention. He posted posters of a missing [Name], which didn't quite work. He created huge scenes to attract attention.

And it did quite work. [Name] had written on one of the posters he posted.

'Idiot.' It was written in huge black marker, quickly scribbled as if she was running.

Kirigiri had investigated [Name]'s whereabouts from that one poster until she had encountered [Name] miraculously.

"[Name]-senpai?" Kirigiri pushed a huge boulder that tumbled down the mountain with a loud crash.

There sat [Name], her legs on her table, stuffing her face with chips. She was in the middle of chewing and had choked when Kirgiri suddenly appeared.

"Y- yup, that's-" and continued choking for while.

"That's me." She panted. Kirigiri couldn't believe this was the girl Naegi Makoto had been searching for. The girl he was head over heels for.

"Ah! Kyoko-chan!" [Name] screeched and jumped onto the purple hair girl.

"It's so good to see you!" [Name] beamed at her junior.

[Name] hadn't watch the broadcast of the school life killing game. She had hid herself in a cave, away from all the despair, and came out once in awhile to store food.

She happened to have gone out the day Naegi made a scene and saw. She was so glad, so glad he was alive.

"You know Naegi is looking for you, right?" Kirigiri pushed her senior off her and raised her eyebrows. [Name] scratched her head nervously, chuckling.

"Y- yeah. Kinda."

"Do you want to meet him?" Kirigiri asked. [Name] wasn't sure. Was she ready to meet him? Did he remember her? She was scared. Scared that he no longer liked her. Scared that he was no longer the Naegi she had fallen for.

"I-"

"Hey, [Name]-senpai." Another head appeared in front of the hole. There, stood tall and handsome Naegi Makoto, who had a small smile on his face.

[Name]'s mouth dropped slowly, and closed slowly.

"Naegi." She nodded. He nodded back with a smile.

"So.. I'm still waiting." He laughed cutely, blushing.

"Y- you remember?" [Name] whispered, her voice shook.

He nodded, looking away, blushing.

"Y- yeah. I also read your notebooks." He chuckled nervously.

"Y- y- you, what?!" [Name] screeched throwing her unopened bag of chips at his dace and hiding behind Kirigiri.

"I- uh... sorry?" He chuckled.

"Idiot!" [Name] shouted.

"B- but it's true right?" He smiled nervously at her. She didn't reply and continued to hide.

"She's all yours, Naegi." Kirigiri quickly pulled [Name] off her and walked out the cave.

"I'm going with Kyoko-cha-" [Name] squeaked as Naegi held her by her wrists. He stared into her eyes intently.

"I'm still waiting for your answer, senpai." He smiled softly.

"I- I-"

"And I'll wait even longer, until you're ready." Naegi rubbed his thumbs in circle on the top of her hands.

She blushed and felt tears threatening to fall.

"I- I love you, Naegi!" [Name] screamed and closed her eyes shut, too shy to look at Naegi.

There was no answer from him, his hand had fell from hers. She slowly opened her eyes, scared what he thought.

Only to see him covering his mouth with a huge blush on his face, eyes wide.

"You didn't have to say it like that, senpai!" He shouted embarrassed.

"Idiot! You were the one who made me say that!" [Name] hit him at the back of his head and laughed, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I'm so... I'm so glad you're alive." They said at the same time and laughed.

Naegi stared at her eyes and smiled before pulling into a hug.

"I'm not losing you again." He whispered.

"Do you promise me that? In a world like this?" She whispered, scared.

"As long as you're with me, we'll survive." He replied and she finally.

Finally. Finally felt safe within his arms.
