The newcomers and the liar
He opened his eyes, confused. The succession of memories he had did not match his current situation.
He remembered going with one of his best childhood friends, Makoto Naegi, to where they believed Suichi Saihara was, who did not respond to messages and calls from either of them, which would not be strange, considering that he was investigating the fire than burned down Hope's Peak academy, but what was strange was not hearing from him for two days.
He looked around, realizing that he was in a room, lying on a bed, which was not the only one, being that next to a closet there was another of the same size. Curtains covered the windows, and there were two doors, one of them open. He walked in, being pleasantly surprised to see his partner.
"Hinata!" He ran up to the older one, upset. "There is something really wrong with this place, there are several copies of our clothes in the closet, there are weapons inside each box, and I found chloroform in a medicine cabinet."
"What!? But... This is supposed to... I don't understand..."
"Me neither, what is the last thing you remember?"
"I got trapped under a pile of rubble, then someone else came over, pulled out a gun, I slapped it, but I heard a shot..."
"I remember hearing a sound of something breaking."
"Does that mean we are ... dead?"
"I don't think so, but we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves ..." That possibility scared him, thinking about his family, but he tried to push those thoughts away. Surely everything was going to be fine.
They left the room and observed some plaques on the door. It had their names along with the date of that day, July 12, 2021. In the hallway there was a gate to one side, and more of these, all with a first name, last name and a date. They approached one in front of them, and what a surprise it was to discover that apparently his friend was there, indicated with his identity and a "July 10, 2021". They checked a bit, but didn't find anyone else they knew. They opened that entrance, to which the heterochromatic looked out. It was a small waiting room, with that same gate on one side. He decided to go inside, unsure of what he would find. When he left he saw again...
That damn gate. In a different room. Which although it was a wide room, with some stairs, did not calm his frustration at finding more of those. Fed up, he came in wanting to see something different. Those feelings of anger were replaced with surprise, seeing the exact same hall as before, and even his companion at the end. He went back to the route that took him there, discovering that it was indeed the same place.
"What did you find?" The opposite response was to pick him up and take him in the same direction, leaving him just as incredulous.
They decided to go down, still quite puzzled. It was quite similar to how the site that recently turned to ash was described. It was in a way ... unexpected? Would that be the correct word?
They advanced a little, until they heard footsteps from the stairs. They turned around, meeting the person causing that noise.
He was a short, skinny boy with purple hair and eyes. He was wearing a black suit, and on his shoulder he held a white coat. He had a smile on his face, which was widened by noticing the presence of the other two.
"Hello!" He greeted him animatedly. "Would you mind telling me who you are?"
"Ah, uh yeah. I am Hajime Hinata, and he is Makoto Naegi, are you?"
"You can call me Ouma, it's a pleasure!"
"We are also pleased to meet you. Do you happen to know where we are?"
"I'm sorry to tell you that you are in purgatory, which means you died..."
There was an awkward silence. It was an option that, despite being skeptical, was likely. And the overwhelming feeling was understandable.
"That means that the doors there..."
"They are from the souls that are currently on this site."
"So ... He has to be here!"
"Who are you talking about?"
"Of our friend, Saihara, did you see him somewhere?"
"Yes, I know where you can find it, follow me!"
They decided to listen to him, trusting in his help.
"And ... what did you planned to do in life?"
"Well, I was going to go to study how the ultimate luckster at Kibougamine... and you?"
"The truth was I never had anything planned, I was just going to go where life takes me. Speaking of take out, we got there."
They were in a kitchen, the hairy guy entered a couple of chairs, and he asked them to wait there until he returned.
After a while, two people abruptly entered.
"We lost him, right? - Asked a somewhat short person, almost in a whisper.
"I hope so." Someone else declared, much taller and with a hoarse voice.
A third approached, he who was quickly identified by the other two.
"Saihara?"
Hearing the latter, he immediately backed away, trying to make as little noise as possible.
This couldn't be happening, it wasn't true. They were fine, it wasn't his fault ... Right?
"Hi-hinata, Naegi, I-I ..." He quickly approached them both, and hugged them. "I'm so sorry, I didn't want to leave you, I'm sorry."
"Hey, nothing's wrong, we didn't even know what had happened to you, okay. You do not have to apologize."
"Wait, how much time happened?"
"Two days have passed."
"T-two days? This felt like an eternity..."
The conversation was involuntarily interrupted by one of the two girls, coughing. It was there that they focused more on the physical features of both.
The first wore a diver and a skirt, with a pink color present in her eyes and hair. On the other hand, the second wore a sleeveless leather coat, and bandages on some parts of her body, especially a stump on her left arm, which was kept covered by bandages, similar to other areas on her arms and torso. It could be clearly seen that when she coughed, she spat out a black liquid.
"I did not want to interrupt, you guys continue with yours..."
"What are you spitting?"
"Soot, I hurt someone, I got what I deserved..."
"In your defense, it was self-defense." The pink-haired girl was concerned about the previous comment.
"Don't listen to her, she's not a threat.
"I do not believe it. Anyways, I'm Kyoko Kirigiri." She made a sign to the minor, to make herself known, ending the awkward silence.
"Chiaki Nanami."
"It is a pleasure."
"By the way, from who-"
By way of interruption, the door was smashed with an axe, causing the rest to step back. When he made his way through the remains of the door, he immediately pounced on the jet, seriously wounding him.
"O-Ouma!? What are you-" He was hitted with an axe on his shoulder, so that his attacker will end up surrounded. He jumped on Kyoko, to attack the remaining two.
Once neutralized, he tied them all up and settled them. He took the purple-eyed, and armed with a hammer, he struck her right arm, until a crack sounded, placed it on a frying pan, and lit the fire.
The screams of pain were immediate, accompanied by a foam that came out of her mouth, with traces of that black color.
"As for you..." He gagged the other two who had been there longer. "I don't need to hear what you have to say, I already know you, there's nothing you can contribute." He turned to his "dinner", and He pointed to his oral cavity. "See that? That comes out with two types of stimuli, one of them being the things that they died with. In this case, she didn't want to go that easy, so she usually reacts..." He putted his fingers dangerously close to her, resulting in a bite, and they totally ripped off. "...violently"
Even though he could contain hia reaction, it was obvious that she hurt him.
"People like her or how I are threats, for which I suggest you be careful."
He was silent for a few minutes, making sure they didn't run away or her food would burn too much, until he decided it was time to check if she was ready.
He smiled watching his victim scream, with the brunettes staring in horror at the scene. He cut off a piece of the detective's arm, enjoying her futile attempts to move, and how even more foam was coming out of her mouth, with those traces of soot.
He knew that if he hadn't held her back, she would have no problem tearing his body apart with "her own hands".
He served the piece of meat on a plate, and addressed both boys, who tried to get away from him, in vain, thanks to her rope which was now holding them back.
"Would you like some?" He offered, while the taller one retched.
"You-you're a monster." Answered the one who was going to be the ultimate luckster, to which the purple-eyed broadened his smile.
"I know, my dear friend! It is not the first time they tell me!"
"W-why are you doing th-this?"
"I am a little hungry. I also like how she reacts." He laughed after this comment, treating the situation normally, enough so that the slam that was heard was more surprising.
He headed in that direction, ax in hand. He braced himself for the attack, slowly going outside.
Shots rang out, and the cannibal's body fell to the ground. A tall silhouette, with a black and white mask. She unleashed the others, leading them out of the kitchen. She carried Suichi and Kirigiri, then approached Nanami, saying something in her ear, later, she ran to the corridor where everything started. Helping Makoto carry Hajime, they followed her, at a much slower pace due to they injuries.
"Wait." He had noticed something peculiar in the wounds of both of them. "Your blood"
"What it has?" Nanami asked.
"It's pink, what is it-
"That's a good sign, he's going to recover soon."
They preferred to keep quiet, it was too much to process, and they didn't want to have to think about what had happened. It was too much...
The room they entered had two plaques on the door. The names they came to read were "Mukuro Ikusaba" and "Mikan Tsumiki." The person who saved them let them pass, dragging them inside. In each bed they were both in the worst state.
They noticed that most of they injuries were recovering, or rather, regenerating.
The girl removed her mask, revealing her face. She had freckles, short hair, and blue eyes.
"I guess you're Ikusaba or-"
"I am." she cut him off.
"Thank you... -Said the green-eyed boy."
"Why are you thanking me?
"You saved us, that's why I wanted to thank you.
"It's my job."
"But it's the least we can do, I really appreciate that you got us out of there. Who knows that he would have made us."
If you insist..."
She handed them some pillows, and they lay down to rest. They would come out once they fully recovered.
-I am surprised that being such a good person you have not yet gone to paradise, if this purgatory follows the Catolic religion...
-... Currently it is impossible to ascend...
The chapters will be like this or longer, even the extra information, in addition to the fact that I will soon return to the presence, so expect slow updates, but I will make sure they are worth it, and I will make sure to make them better.
