Inside our own grave
"Over here!" Kaede ran around a corner, holding Sayaka's hand. Behind them they heard how Junko hit her body against the wall. Despite that, they kept up their speed, knowing full well that wouldn't stop her.
From afar, they watched as Ibuki followed them, trying to make as little noise as possible so as not to be discovered. She planned to attract her attention if she got too close to her friends. She only had one stick to defend herself, and the only reason she wasn't seen yet was because of that thing's focus on the other two.
Despite having broken her nose, she continued to pursue. They had interrupted her while she made a soul in sin pay for their actions. They had interrupted her task, and she must make them pay.
Even thought the fact that they both had their eyes forward, they could see her expression just by listening to how she tried to bite them. The only other noise they could hear was their own heartbeat, and they ignored the pain that their wounds, still throbbing, caused them.
The more they kept going, the more distance they managed to get. That gave them hope for a moment, at least until they found themselves against a wall.
Before they could fully turn around, Enoshima had jumped, clamping her jaw around Maizono's shoulder, letting a scream escape her. Her body hit the ground, the pain of the fall being dulled by the pain of her teeth sinking deeper into her flesh. She writhed, tears in her eyes, to try to punch and kick her, to no avail. From so much screaming, her throat had become hoarse.
Akamatsu during that process tried to separate them, only succeeding thanks to the fact that Mioda had reached them, managing to push her a few meters. Walking away from her, she took with her some scraps of flesh.
The singer was picked up by the pianist, who hurriedly fled from that place. They searched for somewhere safe, to no avail. The panic of the three led them to stop paying attention to where they were going, who was in their paths.
They found a broom closet as a hiding place, with the door ajar. Inside, the only one present there was surprised to see them enter.
"Um...Hello?" He raised an eyebrow, fixing his green eyes on the newcomers. It was confusing for Rantaro, it was normal for this to be confusing, right?
"Silence. She's outside." With that warning from Kaede, he was able to realize what was happening. Some of the cannibals that inhabited this site were looking for them. That had happened to him a couple of times, not too many considering how little time he had spent here, or just outside his room.
"Enoshima?" He asked whispering, not surprised to receive a nod in response.
An idea came to him, in order to execute it he needed one of the brooms there. He led the three into a corner, and stood at the door.
There were blows to warn of the presence of that being, to which he responded by moving there, in order to prevent her from entering. He stuck his body to the only entrance and exit, making access more difficult, though not difficult enough. A hand got in, trying to force him out of the way, a warning that he would be next if he got in the way instead of leaving.
He aimed the broomstick across the small space, and pushed it away. He gave a signal, and they all got out of there, him being dragged against his will away from danger. A danger that he did not care to avoid himself, after all, he would wake up soon.
"That was a horrible idea!" He heard the pianist exclaim, still running away. Neither she was sure if what she said was a statement meant to get his attention, or a mental reminder not to try that.
"We got out alive!" The green-haired man remarked, in such a way that he seemed to be in some safe place. To be fair, he genuinely believed that this was his situation.
She did not lose track of them, no one else seemed to have left the rooms, taking away the hope that there would be any rescue.
Before they knew it, they had reached one of the exits that would take them to the "courtyard". They did not dare to stop despite this.
The entrance to the basement was visible, and exhaustion began to set in. That was the only option they had, and if they managed to lock her up...
They got in there, and waited for her to come with them. After a moment, she jumped towards them, grabbing Amami. In the commotion, the only one who managed to get out was Mioda, who realized what had happened when she noticed the absence of the others. She tried to help them out, to no avail.
The door was locked, and she couldn't move it. She still heard them, inside that place, trying to fight against that aberration. In a panic, she could only hesitantly walk away, seeking help. She went back inside, trying to find someone.
Call it coincidence or divine intervention, but it didn't take long for her to finally bump into someone. If only they had appeared earlier...
"Excuse me, could you move?" Two people were carrying various garbage bags, full of barely visible human parts. The taller of the two seemed annoyed with the delay.
"Ibuki needs help!" She grabbed her shoulders. "Enoshima is with her friends! They cannot get out! They are going to die!"
"Wait, wait!" She broke away for a moment. "I'm trying to do my job, calm down."
"How about you take us to where she is?" Suggested a shorter person next to her, who fixed her brown eyes on the opposite one.
In complete stress, she led them to the basement. She could only point at it, and mumble words without coherence.
"Oh no, not this again." The nurse thought. "I should start getting paid to do these things."
She jumped a couple of times on the wood, unable to get it to move. She sighed, irritated to know that it would take her longer to throw away those bags.
"We have to take the other exit. Damn it." She rolled her eyes and turned around, looking for that place.
At the same time that they met, several figures were crawling in that gloomy space. Three managed to hide, while the fourth barely got up, wiping the blood from her head.
In silence, the singer was released by the blonde, who until that moment had kept a hold on her to prevent any injuries caused by the fall.
They did a small check of the space they were currently in, alarmed to notice that she was gone.
"Where could she be?" Maizono whispered in panic, until she noticed the human parts that hid them, remembering where they were. "We're going to die... We're going to die!"
"We won't. Stay quiet." She held her again, gently covering her, while she grabbed her hands. "I will get you out of here, I promise. Even if it's the last thing I do."
She stood looking at her, on the verge of crying. She nodded at her words, and swallowed. She didn't want her to do it, and she couldn't make her see reason.
"I wouldn't like to interrupt, but we should check our wounds." Rantaro warned. "I have a bent ankle and it bit my head."
"I bumped my back a bit." It was worth every second for her, when she noticed that her partner didn't have any new marks.
"Perfect. We should try to go out through the emergency exit." The young lad then suggested. "I think she's waiting for us on the stairs."
"Or also in..." She thought of all the places where she could hide, and attached her body even more to the purple-eyed girl.
"I have an idea." He lifted a torso from the floor, and put it on top of himself. "We'll have to be careful not to inhale, but..."
"No." He received a serious look and a scared sigh in response. He just shrugged and got up.
"She cares a lot even though she's not real..."
Returning to those who planned the rescue, they had gone to the room where Tsumuki slept, to look for weapons. They knew crystal clear what was needed. Something to crack her head in, something to shoot, something to pin her to the ground. One of each for all three, just in case.
"What are you doing here?" Ikusaba paused fixing her mask, knowing that there was something wrong for Mikan to continue with the bags in her hand.
"Your sister." She answered quickly, so that she would understand the seriousness of the situation instantly. "She locked herself in the body cellar with another three people. We'll get them out."
Her face grimaced for a second at this. She knew she couldn't do anything for them if she saw her, and she hadn't found a way to reverse her condition in so long, she was powerless to do anything for her. Looking down, she had with only one question in mind.
"What kind of sister are you if you can't save her?"
"...I'll try to return her to her room." The purple-haired girl already knew how she felt about that situation. Even if she was aware that what happened to her could never be fixed, inside her heart she wished for it to be possible in order to make the soldier happy. "And I'll try not to hurt her badly, if that helps you. worries."
It didn't take long to get what they needed. Before leaving, she turned to look at her roommate again.
"By the way, she recognizes you with or without the mask."
They marched in the opposite direction that the group originally took. She would lead them to some stairs that led to a hallway that connected the place.
The plan was easy, go in, kill the pink-haired girl, get everyone out of there and throw the bags. Nothing complex, it was not necessary. Even with these circumstances, things could go wrong.
Their steps were quick, they didn't have much time to waste. They had gone all the way down, reaching the hallway at once, and they couldn't stop. After all, while there was some ventilation...
With what little light they had down there, they moved slowly. They couldn't make any kind of noise without attracting attention. And when the sound of a piece of flesh breaking by accident, everyone froze.
They started to panic, rolling their eyes from side to side, trying to hear if she was nearby. There was nothing. No noises, no steps, no breathing.
That made seeing her jump over the pile take them more by surprise, barely giving them time to react.
Amami pushed both musicians away, being the only target that would receive that thing's aggression. He hit the ground, and his head was smashed against the flagstones, still not enough to kill him.
"Flee without me!" He shouted without giving it much importance. After all, it wouldn't matter, since he genuinely thought he would wake up after this. He genuinely thought that he was seeing the hospital again, that he would see his family around him, ready to welcome him with open arms. He held that belief, and would hold it, with every blow he received. After all, the idea that this had some form of escape was better than his current situation, and he needed something, anything to keep going.
At the sight of this scene, they both fled, deciding to rule out any exit that involved silence. They fled in terror, with no sense of where they were going except as far away from her as possible. They hit a wall, and before they knew it, Rantaro's body was thrown in front of them, his face unrecognizable. Her figure could be made out, running towards them, to which Akamatsu had a way to react.
"Keep running!" She indicated to her friend, who didn't take long to listen to her, and waited for her to get close enough. When she was close enough to her to hurt, she ducked, taking only a few scratches.
She believed that she could get away faster, a belief that disappeared the moment her arm was grabbed. It didn't take long for her to be lifted by the throat, and dragged across the floor. She closed her eyes then, waiting for a bite that didn't come.
A slab had hit Junko's torso, who focused her attention on Sayaka again. She started running in her direction, dodging some of the things she was throwing at her. At one point, she fled, trying to get her to avoid her.
While this was happening, the pianist crawled to cover herself. When she was going to get up, she saw a light in the corner. Upon closer inspection, she noticed that it was the exit.
This led her to grab a stone from the ground, and look for Maizono. It didn't take long for her to find her, still escaping.
She took aim at her pursuer and threw her, buying the singer more time to flee. She guided her to the door, and finally, she was able to close it. Still, knocks were heard. She wasn't planning to stop that easily.
"Kaede! Let's go!" She tried to grab her hand, but there was no response.
"I'll give you more time, you go."
"I won't leave you here! Let's go!"
"Please go away. I don't want her to hurt you."
"I don't want you to be hurt you either!"
"But I-"
"I will stay with you if necessary. B-but I'm not leaving here."
-Vamos a hablar de esto luego...- Con la amargura de no poder salvarla, la pegó contra si.
"Oh no..." She took her hands, lovingly. "I won't be able to convince you, right?"
"No. I will die here if necessary."
"We'll talk about this later..." With the bitterness of not being able to save her, she hid her against herself.
They waited for the door to give way, and after the intrusion of that thing, Akamatsu pushed the blue-haired girl away from danger again.
Her arm ended up being bitten, which she allowed. As long as she walked away...
-¿Están bien?- El castaño se arrodilló para ayudarla a levantarse.- ¿Quedó alguien ahí?
"There she is!" They could see the nurse approaching, throwing herself on Enoshima and putting a knife on her back. They both walked away so as not to be interrupted while fighting.
"Are you okay?" The brunette knelt down to help her get up. "Was anyone left there?"
"Rantaro..."
"Oh, I'll take care of that." She walked away, doing their best to ignore the chaos around him in order to stay sane.
The three hugged each other, and in silence, they left the place. A feeling of euphoria ran through them knowing that they had survived, even just once more. Even if it wouldn't last though.
"By the way, Ibuki wanted to talk to both of them about something..." Their behavior of allowing themselves to be put in danger, to be more exact.
Sorry for the brevity, this is more of a breather. I hope you enjoy
