In the eyes of one it is punishment, to those of another revenge

I'm not sure if you all noticed it, but I did edit the warnings because from this point on there start to be mentions (no, I'm not going to show that on screen) of self-harm child mistreatment and pressence of mental disorders (either mentioned implicitly or explicitly), discretion is advised.

"Uh." He woke up confused, looking around the room, realizing that nothing he experienced was a dream.

His attention went to the floor, where there was a pool of blood next to a machete. On the other bed she could see the purple-haired girl, who was hugging herself. He noticed that now she had her left hand, or well, part of it, since three of her fingers kept regenerating. Another detail was the way she saw the room, with her eyes wide open (one of them with a small piece of sclera missing), and her blank stare. Beside her, there was a blue-haired girl, with obvious concern and ...Fear?

"Hinata." After this whisper he felt Makoto's arms around him, with a tone of voice between anguish and joy. "I'm sorry, I had to kill you, I couldn't make you regain control, I'm sorry..."

"Hey, is okay, I don't know exactly what happened, I guess I didn't do something very nice, right?"

"You try... You tried to make me see it..." Those words led him directly to remember that creature he saw to go crazy. Wings and eyes attached to huge gold rings, half of that body in a decadent state with black and red colors. The worst part for him was that he knew he had blocked out details of that being's form. And he didn't understand it. Nothing related to that was understandable to him.

"I... did that?..." He couldn't believe it. How was he able to try to harm someone so important to him? That powerful was his loss of control?

"You tried, luckily I managed to avoid it, but I had to-"

"Listen, if I do something like that again, do whatever it takes to control the situation, I don't want to think what would have happened if I took you there."

"I understand..." Did he really had to do that to him for the rest of eternity?

He heard a knock, realizing that the girl had gotten up with two others from across the room. They looked somewhat uncomfortable for a moment.

"Maizono, you don't need to get up, he's not going to do anything to me."Although if he did, if that meant not having to keep watching those scenes over and over again...

 "Are you sure?"

"Yes, he's back to normal. Unless there is some object that we should not show him, right?"

"Well I think..." He realized almost immediately what she was referring to. "Gunshots! I have to avoid hearing them."

"You're lucky, if you listen to one you will regain control quickly..."

"Something is something." One of them sighed, trying to reassure the first of the group.

She returned back to her place, both taking care that she did not repeat her action.

"I suppose we should introduce ourselves, right?"

"Yes..." She scratched the back of her neck a bit before moving her magenta eyes upwards. "My name is Kaede Akamatsu."

"I'm Sayaka Maizono..." She spoke with a somewhat low and nervous tone of voice, reflected in her expression, regaining some spirit thanks to the confident looks of both the blonde and another girl with hair of different colors.

"Ibuki is glad to meet you all." It seemed that it took her a little longer to answer to find a way to not get confused about who she was referring to.

After introducing himself, he started asking some questions about what was going on.

"So, I guess for now we'll stay here for a bit, right?"

"Effectively, unless there is someone outside or we need something, we will stay until we know that he hides his real form again."

"Speaking of which..." He took a breath. "What was that thing supposed to be!?"

"First of all, don't yell, you're going to draw them to us." The calm with which Kyoko spoke about something that (at best) could lead to a few lethal injuries that would take a while to regenerate was new only to him. "Second, that thing is still Monokuma, it's how it really looks. You reacted according to the way you died. Fighting to survive."

"But why did he revealed it?"

"It's his way of punishing physical attacks against him. He drives us insane and forces others to knock us out. Once he decides that he had enough, he goes back into his disguise."

"Wasn't he supposed to help us ascend. Since... since when has he been doing this?"

"Since always has. He always says that he is justified and that he will help us in the future. He definitely does not have a very successful concept of helping."

 "Can't we negotiate with him?"

"No, it is not possible. It's always the same. No matter who does it, he is going to say that it is the only thing he can do and that it is according to the rules."

"But... It can't be..." Was this what was really good?

"Hey, i-it's not so bad when you get used to it..." Kaede tried to ease the situation a bit, without much success...

"If he ever does." ...Partly thanks to that comment.

"Changing the subject, do you want to hear the explanation about the floor thing?"

"...No thanks." Starting to notice a pattern in certain attitudes of a certain girl, he could imagine what had happened. And he couldn't help but see himself when he still believed those things.

He waited for the others to rest so he could speak to him. He himself understood that it was probably a better idea to speak it alone. He himself wanted it to be so at his time.

 "Hey how are you?"

 "What is the question about?

"Well, I just wanted to know it cause you are nice."

"I don't believe you, tell me what you want."

"I'm worried." There was no use lying to her. "You don't seem right, do you want to talk about that?"

"I don't like to remember that, and even if we talked about it, nothing will change."

"I disagree, talking about it was part of what helped me get out of there."

 "What do you mean?"

"I went through a similar situation, I felt that everything around me was slowly collapsing, that there was no way to fix myself and that I could not move forward. I thought it was all my fault and that if I left, no one would care."

"But surely it's worth helping you, unlike me."

"That's what I thought, and I can tell you that you're wrong. You are not a bad person, and even if you were, you do not deserve to be abandoned in this."

"I hurt others, it's not worth wasting your time like that. Anyway, what difference does it make if something happens to me? I'm going to regenerate again, and I also avoid doing something bad to other people."

 "Does that make you happy?"

"What does it matter if that does?"

"It matters because you should not improve for others, you should improve for yourself. And I know it is possible to do it, you are not alone." He put his hand on her shoulder, noticing how she tensed for a second. "If you need or want to talk about anything, you can ask me, I'll listen to you."

"...I really don't know what to say, but I appreciate it."

She stayed with his words, considering her options, this time in a light more...

 Optimistic, perhaps?

After a long time, screams sounded again, waking up the others. The voice was clearly Chiaki's, who seemed to be dying.

"We have to go!" The green-eyed boy was alarmed by what had happened, however he was stopped before he went to her.

"It's not a good idea to go unarmed, don't you think?"

"Promise that you are not going to put your weapons near your face please." The two who had been there for less time looked at each other even more worried.

"I promise."  They searched through the boxes, taking most of the weapons. Most of them were knives, knives, pocket knives and a machete, even a pistol.

They followed the trail, occasionally coming across a mutilated part. They were led to huge doors, which served as an entrance to a library. The first thing that surprised them the most was not finding someone else. At least it was a relief in the sense of not having to deal with other souls.

"Akamatsu, Maizono, stay outside, if something happens to us, we will call you. Do the same if something goes wrong." She had done well to provide them with the best equipment.

They entered, prepared in case someone attacked them. The blood was running to the right, indicating a dark corner. As they advanced, a blow distracted them.

A wooden plank was blocking the door, supported by two supports, these impossible to move due to a padlock. Whoever it is, the person who locked them up disappeared immediately.

 "What's going on there!?"

"Ibuki and the rest of us are locked up, there is someone else in here." She did her best not to scream, unnecessary since they already knew they were there.

"We'll find something to get you all out, be careful."

"Yes, we will look for Nanami here in the meantime."

Said and done, they advanced a little further, only to be interrupted again, this time by the sound of a growl. Turning around, the purple-eyed girl was in a maddened state, apparently attacking some poor devil (though not so poor) who was holding fire in front of her.

"Makoto watch out!" He was grabbed on time by his shoulders, thus preventing a dagger from hitting his body. In front of the two retreating silhouettes, one more was seen.

"Hello again, Naegi, Hinata and- Wow, I wasn't expecting you around here Mioda!" Ouma laughed a little, as if they were old acquaintances.

"L-listen, Ibuki knows that he wants us to join, so she suggests a third option." She grabbed both brunettes and started running in the opposite direction, without looking back.

As for the other two, they were at another end of the place. Kyoko took a hit almost instantly from seeing her cause of death, hard enough to knock her to the ground.

"Well, who do we have here?" His eyes, between purple and blue, were distinguishable in the dark, as was his arrogant expression. "I will assume that you already know why we do this, so you better not try anything or it will be worse. This time we brought the box."

She crawled to the wall, managing to get some distance, and drew her machete. She considered her options for a moment, not knowing what to do.

...But deep down... What would fighting do if this was going to happen again?

He approached the table, confident that the detective would not put up a fight (to how much closer her weapons to make it a lethal blow), believing that he had everything won.

It was a surprise to him when he received a head butt from her side. As soon as his vision cleared, he could make out the base of a lamp. He shook his head to avoid the impact, and stood up, throwing the objects behind him from his.

"Byakuya, you shouldn't have told me about the box."

"It's not like he expects me to defend yourself. You shouldn't even try. You cannot improve. You know what you did and will continue to do."

"I know, but it's not like you're better than me, or that Kokichi Togami is."

Oh, that last name. That damn last name that had condemned the poor boy.

A feeling of rage ran through his body. He jumped on top of her, only to be dodged. Facing each other, they began to attack each other.

Back with the others, they reached an area with those who had gone mad, all tied hands to chairs, with several open wounds.

 "You go to-"

"That won't help you!" He burst between one of the shelves, blasting his way through with his axe. "Oh, and I'm sorry for my interruption. Anyway, Syo!"

Another figure leaned out. Armed with two scissors, she approached threateningly. Surrounded, they revealed the rest of their weapons.

"Aw, they really think they scare us, how cute. Well then let the show begin!"

He threw several knives at them, amused to see them dodge. It was even better when he saw Makoto with his right arm nailed to the wall, motionless, screaming and using more force than he had to get out.

 "I'm going to-"

"Stay still." She was aiming straight for his neck, though she seemed to be waiting for his response to give him a cut.

"Take care of the other two, I'm going to help him with that." He raised the axe, causing the opposite to be alarmed. In panic, he tried again to get out of there. He kicked and pulled, causing his wound to enlarge. When he broke away, he threw something from a nearby cabinet. That something was a chainsaw.

"What are you going to do with that? Turn it on and run after us?"

He decided to heed that recommendation, and turned on the machine. It was quite heavy, and his deft hand was too damaged, so it didn't take long for him to fall to the ground, speeding off to the side.

"Aw, what a threat failure, you are adorable! I'm even sorry to hurt you. But you asked for it, so there is no other option." From his coat pocket he took out a bottle, throwing a liquid (which from the smell, he could deduce was gasoline) to cover the object. On the opposite side of him, he had a defense pistol, which he fired, generating a small explosion. "I-isn't that beautiful?"

For a few moments, her body trembled. Some foam escaped between her teeth, in her twisted smile. The explosion caused him to lose control for a moment, in the same way that Hajime did upon hearing that shot.

"Oh, so you do that too? Better take care of him. I'm going for the big prize."

In a few seconds, he climbed up onto his shoulders. Due to the constant sound of bullets, he had to hold on to the boy well if he didn't want to fall. It was not complicated at all, after all he already did that thousands of times.

"Watch where you shoot!" His accomplice screamed, mostly annoyed because he promised to avoid that kind of thing.

 "Sorry!"

When the charge was finished, he jumped, landing almost miraculously to his feet. His expression was cheerful, at least until he heard screams.

Let's go back to the moment when he was attacking the group, but this time let's focus our attention on a certain pair.

Beats came and went. They lost their equipment, turning this into a hand-to-hand fight...

 ...Until he took it.

He left the bear trap on the floor. He knew the side effects it would have. He knew what things she remembered when she saw it. And he was willing to use it.

Hidden in a corner, he waited patiently...

 ...And the trap closed.

With her foot trapped, her mind began to be invaded by flashblacks, causing her to be in that hell again.

 She again saw the gym.

Again the glasses in her mouth.

Again the blood interrupted her breathing.

 Again the burning bodies.

She wasn't going to let it happen again.

Between groans of pain, she got up without taking it off. Standing firm, she waited for him. The hit of a chair made her recoil. Still, she threw a book at his face and kicked, just to push him away. They looked at each other with hatred, anger and fear, before the boy ran in the direction of the aforementioned box. She followed him, knowing that he had memorized the route.

As they moved, they threw all kinds of things that were found on the road, looking for that object.

Pursuing each other, they ended up in another sector. By mere impulse, he sent her back to the floor, albeit in a lousy spot. Right next to his weaponry container.

As soon as she found it, she desperately searched for some weapon with which she could regain her advantage. As she barely felt something between her fingers, the lid slammed shut, about to get her. The time it took for her to remove her hand from there and fire the stun gun at her opponent was comparable to the time it took for her to grab it, causing them both to squirm for a few moments, before passing out.

Unfortunately, she did not count on him to arrive and realize the situation.

"What did you do to him?" His smile disappeared when he saw the body of his half brother, unconscious of her. "I'm asking you something." He grabbed her by the hair, dragging her. What did you did to him!?"

He slammed her head against a table repeatedly, seriously injuring her. He screamed in distress. He was sick of them always doing this to him.

"W-what is it?" The hits were intense enough to be ignored.

"Surely it was him going to split her face." She was sitting on a chair, located at the only exit, only moving her hands to prepare an attack.

"Very good, I'll stay to distract her and you are going to-" Before being able to specify his plan, the tallest one was interrupted.

"Don't do it, not only will you end badly if you do it..."

 "What are you talking about?"

"I'm doing this to protect someone else."

"Who?" Maybe they could negotiate with her to escape.

"That's not your problem." Or maybe not.

"I understand..." Seeing that Mioda was looking for weapons in a corner, he continue talking to distract her. "...But tell me, what are your reasons for doing all this?"

"I already told you it's not your problem- Don't even think about it!"

She blocked the opponent's sword with a chair. With the hit of a scissors, she dropped it, only to realize very late that the sword ended up in the hands of the heterochromatic. It lunged at her, leaving a gash in her stomach, not deep enough to kill her.

"Ok, I give up." She raised her hands, ignoring the burning sensation in her body. "I can't defend myself. He will understand. Just leave her alone."

 "W-what?"

"I said please don't attack my little sister. She is not to blame for what that guy did."

"We'll keep it in mind..." Before starting to free the others, Makoto preferred to calm her down about it.

"תודה, זה לא נחמד כשאתה מתעלם- מהבקשה הזו." After pronouncing this, the black-haired girl stopped, and took the sword, following them. Although no one understood what she said, you could imagine when as an answer she received a "fuck you".

In that other place, things were not so calm. On top of the detective's body, (which had somehow survived the beating and scratches received from him) her attacker held her neck, using brute force to break it.

His eyes had a couple of tears struggling to come out. He was tired of his efforts always being in vain, that no matter how hard he fought, they would always end up hurting him.

He ignored the calls directed at the girl, as did with yheir footsteps, approaching. Even when he was abruptly separated from her, he only cared about ending with her. But when he found out, they had already fled with his axe and his victim. He sighed before lifting the taller one, seating him in an armchair.

"Kokichi?..." He woke up after being left there. He was confused as to what had happened.

"Good that you got up." He gave him a weak smile, as he wiped some blood from his dark yellow hair. "They ran away after I left."

 "...Sorry."

"You don't have to apologize, I sent you to fight with her. I should apologize."

"But I took it to her box..."

"Don't worry, I must have imagined that she would defend herself against you."

 "I didn't screw it up, did I?

 "No, you didn't."

"... You shouldn't have rescued me. They wouldn't have run if you didn't came to save me and I..."

He stopped blaming himself for the failure when he heard his whistle. He calmed down remembering that lullaby. The same one he used to hear as a child. And although it was never sung by his biological mother, he felt the same nostalgia as the opposite, only without the same pain that came with the images of the hits she received for trying to get him out of the closet, her body on the bed or the note of goodbye.

He was grateful that he didn't have to see those things directly. Perhaps if neither did, he would not seek to be what he was supposedly forced to be.

Finally, the others managed to flee. They looked for Kaede and Sayaka, worried about their absence. It was on the way to the kitchen that they found them.

"Where were you?" They had to avoid shouting because it seemed that people not very well controlled had passed by. They were both in a corner, ready to defend themselves.

"What happened is that we found someone..." He picked up a little boy, no more than 12 years old, with a mask on. He was notoriously scared, and constantly asking about his father.

 "Oh no."
