|> Soulmate AU in which coming into contact with your soulmate will cause them to sparkle to your eyes only <|

~

It felt like you had been waiting far, far too long now. How could this be fair for you, in any way? Finding your soulmate had been on everyone's mind since they were tiny, having it drummed into the repeatedly. If you see the sparkle, they're the one.

It was common to find your soulmate at a young age, since you would almost always be paired up with someone easy to find. Everyone else your age had found their one and only, it was practically unheard of for anyone to still be alone. So why were you?

Your best friend Rantaro tried to convince you over and over again that you were simply a late bloomer, but you were truly beginning to wonder. It wasn't unheard of to never find your soulmate, but that group made up less than 2% of the population. Could it really be that you were that unlucky? Was this what destiny had chosen for you?

"Try not to let it get you down too much," Rantaro instructed and you gave a half-hearted nod.

"Easier said than done," You sighed softly and Rantaro gave a gentle nod.

"Of course, of course," He agreed. "But try not to think about it, there's so much more out there, anyway. Life doesn't depend on finding your soulmate."

That was true. There really were so many things you wanted to do with your life, but it was hard to ignore the fact that everyone had their special someone. It was everywhere you went, people and their soulmates. It was almost impossible to spot someone alone.

You trudged alongside Rantaro, toward Hope's Peak Academy. Truly, you loved being a student at the prestigious school - it was known for having only the best and the brightest, yet you were accepted - someone like you - for your talent, (talent/title).

Rantaro had been your best friend for as long as you could remember, but you couldn't help but admit to being just a tad resentful to him. Just like every single other person you knew, Rantaro had found his soulmate when he was much younger - it had been someone you wouldn't have ever expected - everyone had thought the girl was a lesbian - but then you guessed the powers that be had some mysterious plans.

      But not for you.

      Nothing had happened for you.

You couldn't help but think about it as you walked into the school, seeing the incredible people, with their incredible soulmate. You had hoped, once you accept your invitation to Hope's Peak, that you would find your soulmate here, and they would be as incredible as the other people here. It seemed almost like fate. Yet it was getting very late in the game, and you still hadn't found them.

The thoughts plagued you through your journey to the classroom, and you easily took your seat by the window, next to Kaede's desk. She was sat there, with her soulmate atop the table, and you cringed slightly, watching Miu and Kaede interacting so closely. You didn't you have anyone to be like that with?

Your teacher walked into the room and called for quiet, and you watched the pairs of soulmates split off from each other, or those whose soulmate were in a different class came filing in, until the class was full, and not a desk was left empty.

"You wonderful students of mine are just going to love this~" Your teacher sang, clapping their hands in delight, and you quickly felt the dread seep in. What the hell were the planning now? "Group projects~"

      There was a collective groan.

"Together, you will be analysing any of the following texts, and you have the rest of the day to prepare an essay with your partner to feed back to the class tomorrow~"

You eyes scanned down the list of extracts your teacher had written on the board, a few book names catching your eye, but other than that, you knew that if you weren't paired with a friend - preferably Rantaro - this would be hellish no matter what book-

"Rantaro and Korekiyo," The teacher read out from their notebook, and just like that your hopes were entirely dashed. "Gonta and Angie, Kaede and Kirumi, Y/N and Ouma-"

It was at that point you stopped listening, almost wanting to pull your hair out. Seriously? You had to try and work with him? Sure, he was fun, and you liked him a lot, but you were never going to get anything done.

Your table jolted where another was pushed harshly to yours, and you glanced up, coming nose to nose with Ouma. He was so close to touching you, noses not quite brushing, deep purple eyes glimmering so close to yours.

"Hiya, Y/N-Chan~" He grinned, and you leapt away with a quiet squeak, while he just let out his signature giggle before settling back into his chair, and arm draped across the back while he just regarded you with an amused expression, the small smirk resting so easy on his complexion.

"Yes, hi Ouma," You gave a gentle sigh before discretely fanning your face, to bat away the redness in your cheeks with the cool air. It didn't feel like it was working. "Can we get this over and done with quickly? What text do you wanna look at?"

"Aww, you wanna get rid of me so soon?" You glanced at Ouma to see his eyes growing glassy and his bottom lip start trembling.

"N-No, you know I didn't mean it like that, stop with the crocodile tears already..!" You begged, and after swiping at his eyes with the back of his hand quickly, his grin was revealed, and he clasped his hands together in an almost admiring way.

"Woooow~ You could really tell?" He asked, and you nodded.

"Yes, I could, I'll go get the work," You grumbled.

"I got it!~" The small boy chirped and skipped off to the front of the class to collect the paper and you sighed, having to tuck yourself back in to the table and get comfortable all over again. A moment later, the papers were dropped onto your table, and Ouma skipped up behind you, peering carefully over your shoulder.

"This one? Really?" You sighed softly and started flicking through the papers, and as he stood behind you, his hand rested on your shoulder.

You didn't think much of it, but suddenly, his grip tightened considerable, almost painfully to the point that you jolted in shock. You turned, spinning on your seat to see what his problem was, but as you turned, his hand grabbed the other side of your face, and his lips pressed against yours harshly.

It was so out of the blue, you were entirely in shock - you were in the middle of the classroom, with everyone around and able to see, for god sake. Why had this happened?

He pulled back only a moment later, and then it struck you.

The  sparkles shimmering in the air around Kokichi were truly a sight to behold. The deep indigo and violet sparkles, glimmering around him, swaying and whirling in the air surrounding him, whipping around him like a small tornado.

The first touch from your soulmate will trigger a sparkle unlike anything you have ever seen before - the first time you had ever touched your classmate, Ouma Kokichi, and he had exploded into the most glorious, shimmering haze of heavenly purple shades.

It evoked a feeling you never knew was possible, a light bubbling in your chest, airy and electric, strumming somewhere deep in your chest.

The sight was celestial, and entirely wonderful, and the dumbstruck look in his eyes gave away everything you needed to know. No lie would cover up an experience like this. The person that was made for you - the one - shimmering and glowing and so beautifully stunning.

There wasn't anything for you to say, the elation tingling in your spine and broad smile dancing on your face told the whole story - a lifetime of waiting, imagining, hoping, to finally find that it was more striking than anything your imagination could conjure.

As you looked upon Kokichi, and the impact slowly sunk in, you couldn't have wished for anything more perfect. Anyone more perfect. Truly, you were seeing through different eyes, and your bones were alive and tingling with the feeling.

Ouma Kokichi truly was the one for you.

      He grinned.

      "Hey, soulmate~"
