A man lay in bed, a gray and white embroidered blanket lay over him and his brittle figure.

"Kaede. As next heir to the throne, you must pick your suitor to become your husband." The man wheezed.

"But father...none have been to my liking. They obviously all want me so they can become rich and become the king." Kaede sighed.

"I understand Kaede, but we cannot leave this kingdom without an heir. You must have a royal husband. If you didn't decide a husband, what if you were killed? The last thing this kingdom needs is to fall in the hands of Junko." The man wheezed.

"We cannot let her take over this kingdom. She may be my sister, but she is in no right to lead another kingdom to ruin."

Kaede looked at the floor, woebegone of this unfortunate turn of events, she was hoping her father would understand, but he only saw the kingdom's needs.

"I..understand father. I bid you good night."

The king nodded and laid his head back on the lush pillow.

As Kaede closed the tall carved mahogany doors, she felt only sorrow, for who would she marry? The only suitors there were was the ones who wanted riches or power.

Kaede's sorrow attracted a familiar face.

"My lady! Are you alright? You look downtrodden."

Kaede looked up at the man before her, bluish-blackish hair, beautiful eyes, and shining armor, fit for a knight like himself.

"Saihara." The man's name rolled delicately off your tongue like silk.

"Yes my lady?" Saihara held her hand in his.

"I..could we talk somewhere else? The atmosphere here is...awful."

"Of course. Let us go to the east wing's balcony. It has a wonderful breeze."

"Alright. Lead the way."

As you two walked through castle, you were reminded that this would all be yours. And the kingdom. And the responsibility.

I understand that I will have to be queen but...can I really handle all this? And will I have to tolerate my husband along with it?

"Here we are my lady. Now what is wrong?"

Kaede didn't even realize that she had already arrived to the balcony, she was so lost in thought.

"Saihara..father wants me to marry a suitor. Of royal blood. I..don't. They all are stuck up, egotistic, greedy men, and I don't want to marry any of them." Kaede confessed.

Saihara grabbed her hands, interlocking them with his.

"I didn't know this was happening."

"I'm sorry to blurt all my feelings out on you like this but..my father says I have to marry them. Before he..passes." Kaede choked.

"My lady.."

"And I understand that I'm being selfish but...I don't want to marry them." Kaede looked up at Saihara.

"I..want to marry...you."

Saihara blushed and then regained his poker face.

"I'm glad you feel that way, Kaede."

Kaede gasped in shock. Did he really say her name? Not my lady? Not milady? Not princess?

Saihara drew his face in and Kaede put her lips to his.

Saihara blushed. Badly.

I..I didn't realize I had such strong feelings for Saihara until now. I guess I was just blind to it.

Their lips were locked together in a passionate bind of love until Kaede abruptly pulled away.

"Saihara I..." Kaede grew embarrassed and ran away, leaving a very embarrassed and stunned Saihara.

Kaede ran through the castle, getting back to her room in a flash.

She closed the door behind her and collapsed on her bed.

"I can't believe I did that."

Kaede eventually grew sleepy and dozed off.

(Timeskip to morning)

Kaede jumped out of bed, determined to make it through the day without bumping into Saihara.

I just can't see him. What if he is upset that I kissed him?

"First I have dancing lessons. Darn. I make it all the way to the ballroom." Kaede changed into her attire, a white and pink dress with a border of lace at the bottom. Fit for a princess.

"Alright. Mission impossible is a go." Kaede creaked the door open slightly, checking for an Saihara's.

She tiptoed and checked the corridor. Nothing. Good.

She ran out into the next hall and nothing. No Saihara.

Next she would have to go through the dining hall and then the main room to get to the ballroom.

She passed the kitchen, waving to the cooks. They smiled and waved back.

Next, she traveled up the stairs in the Main room, no Saihara.

She sighed a breath of relief as she opened the doors.

"Hi Kaede."

"Gahhh!!" Kaede jumped back, tripping in the process.

As she thought she would fall and hit the ground, a steady and strong pair of arms wrapped around her.

She opened her eyes, seeing Saihara's worried expression.

"Are you alright??"

Kaede blushed, her cheeks turning a crimson shade.

Saihara put her back down onto the ground. He pushed a stray away from her face.

"Now. Are you alright?"

Kaede nodded, embarrassed by the whole ordeal.

Saihara smiled and kissed her cheek.

"I'm glad."

Kaede blushed even more, her face becoming worryingly red.

"Saihara...you're not..upset?"

"About what?"

"About me..kissing you?"

Saihara smiled in delight. "Of course not. Actually, I really liked it.." His cheeks turned a little pink.

Kaede sighed in relief. "I'm glad to hear it. I..meant what I said back there, I really do love you.... do you love me?"

Saihara leaned in, his face close.

"I love you too." He wrapped his arms around her.

"Just kiss already!!!" Saihara looked behind and saw the tutors or your dance class and a few staff watching you two, squealing because of their OTP.

"Whaaa?? You guys are here??!" Kaede squeaked.

"Well better give them what they want." Saihara said.

He leaned in and kissed her passionately. She kissed back, secretly happy.

The staff squealed and took pictures.

After that, the king reluctantly allowed Saihara and Kaede to wed, only because the staff would quit if they didn't get together.

Saihara and Kaede had a wonderful wedding, they truly loved each other and spent the rest of their lives together.

Eventually, they birthed an heir. Exactly what the king wanted. Sadly, the king passed away before the birth of their child. (Rip)
