Chapter one: Disturbing the Peace (Daily life)
That annoying bell blared in my room, jolting me away. "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING STUDENTS!" I heard that stupid bears irritating voice echo through my room. I sat up, staring at the monitor in the corner. "IT'S 7 A.M FEEL FREE TO EXPLORE THE MANSION, BUT BE CAREFUL! SOME PLACES ARE OFF LIMITS!" I forced myself out of be. "Ugh, you stupid bear, I just want to go home."
"This is your home now!" Monokuma said as he popped up in front of me. "AAAAAAAH!!!" I screamed in his face. "WHERE DID YOU COME FROM YOU CREEPY BEAR!!! HOW DID YOU GET IN HERE!!!"
"Wow, so rude to your headmaster. Tch, tch. Teenagers have no respect anymore."
"How. Did. You. Get. In. My. Room." I demanded an answer, I've gone too long sitting around without getting any answers from anyone. "Oh, you left your door unlocked." I blinked looking at the door to my bedroom, gaping open. "That can be dangerous you know!" I sighed heavily. "I know..." The bear waddled out of my room. I shook my head, walking out with it. I made my way downstairs and decided to look around a bit.
I discovered only one person downstairs. That person was none other than the dick bag, Inoue. I groaned and swore under my breath. He looked at me, before looking around and proceeding to walk over to me. "Hello~"
"Yeah, hi Inoue."
"Call me Ichirou."
"No, I'm good."
"Why so formal, though?"
"Because, I was raised by someone with respect."
"Oh? Then why not respect my wishes?"
"Because, you wouldn't never respect mine, I've met other guys like you Inoue. You're just insecure about yourself so you act like you're the best so that girls will like you, because you know you'd never be able to get one if you acted like a decent human being." I huffed, adjusting my mask. Inoue just stared at me or a moment before starting to laugh. "Ah, you're funny Yasu."
"Excuse me? Do not call me that, you have not earned the right to address me as such."
"What did I do?"
"Ugh, just leave me alone Inoue."
"You're no fun." I growled. "IF YOU DON'T LEAVE ME ALONE I WILL CALL SASAKI ON YOU!!!"
"Whoa, chill." He said as he backed up. "Look Inoue, I'm not interested. Honestly, maybe if you started acting like a decent person then maybe you'd actually have a chance at getting a girlfriend." I said as I began walking away. I shook my head and looked through everyone's basic information as I entered a long hallway. I glanced up to take in my surrounding. "Oh, isn't this a great place to hold a surprise murder. If I've learned anything from movies and games, I don't want to be out of my room at night."
"You have a point there." I jumped, hearing the voice of the hairdresser behind me. "GAH!!" I turned around. "Hello."
"Oh, sorry did I scare you?"
"A little, but it's alright." I chuckled softly. She smiled at me. "But, it really would be a shame to lose another student." I nodded. "True, but I have faith that no one will ever kill! I mean honestly, half of these people seem to just want a friend and the others are too antisocial to do anything."
"Fair point, Ishikawa I heard your name was, yes?"
"Yes, I forgot we never exchanged names."
"Yep, I'm Riko Nanami, call me Nami."
"Alright, Nami then call me Yasu."
"YOYO!" I heard Sasaki call out to me. "Ugh..." I sighed, looking at Nami. "Anyways, so do you think she could possibly murder?" She asked. "I mean look at her."
"She's my first suspect if anyone does die." I responded. Sasaki looked Nami up and down. "Yo, you are?" She asked, leaning on my shoulder. "Get off of me Sasaki."
"Yoyo~"
"Ugh, don't call me that."
"You really are still mad aren't you?"
"About what?"
"Fine."
"What?" She was really starting to get on my nerves with this constant pestering. "You know what Nami, can we talk later?"
"Sure, you can find me in the dinning hall when you're done with Sasaki." She said as she walked off. "What's your problem?"
"My problem? I'm not the one who forgot about our friendship." I groaned. "Shut up about that. Can you please?"
"If that's what you want, dollface."
"Go away, Sasaki."
"Why?" I looked her in the eyes. "Because I'm starting to get real sick and tired of you following me around and talking to me like I'm a childhood friend or something. I don't understand how you know as much about as you do, but you can keep that information to yourself and stop telling everyone else about me. You're clearly a stalker, and if you actually know me then tell me, tell me something only a close friend of mine would know." She sighed softly shaking her head. "Wow, you don't believe me...thanks."
"I'll only believe you if you tell me."
"No, because you're going to cry Yoyo."
"..." I stared at her. What does she mean I'm going to cry? I don't cry that easily anymore. I doubt she could know anything that could make her cry. "Right, so you don't know anything that only a close friend would. Then you really are just a stalker."
"You don't like to admit it but you're afraid of being alone with a boy for long periods of time, you try your best to avoid them at all cost as a form of protection rather than learning to defend yourself if anything were to happen. You find that all violence even as an act of self-defense is wrong." I stared at he dumbfounded. I'd never told anyone that, ever. There's noway she'd ever know that unless I'd told her. "How did you?"
"You told me, remember?"
"No..." She sighed. "It's okay, and I understand if you still don't believe me."
"I do...okay...so maybe we were friends...but why do you call me doll or dollface?"
"Just little pet names I'd given to you love." I nodded, starting to understand a little. "But why?"
"To show my affection for you of course."
"Affection?"
"Yes." I blinked and thought. Affection? Did she like have a crush on me or something? I need to figure this out. I can't just leave these questions unanswered. I shook my head. "You mean like romantic affection?"
"Yes, doll." I tugged at my mask, staring her in the eyes. I noticed a slight tint of pink on her cheeks. I sighed softly. "So, now what? What do you want to do?"
"You want to head to the dunning room? I've already investigated what parts of this place are available." She held out a hand to me, and I hesitantly took it. "Sure." I smiled through my mask. She started running down the long hall before barging through a door. "KAT SLOW DOWN!!!" When I said that she came to a sudden halt. "What'd you call me? Did you really say it? Did you say Kat?" I stared at her. Did I? Wow, I did. I didn't even realize I thought I had said Sasaki again. But calling her Kat seemed almost natural. "Yeah, I did. Is there a problem with t-" I was interrupted with her putting me in a choke hold and ruffling my hair. "Hey, stop it! Kat!" She chuckled as she let me go. "Sorry Yoyo. I just got a little excited. Hey, look now you have an ahoge." I sighed. "Yeah, thanks..."
"What you look cute." I chuckled softly. "Whatever you say." She smiled. "So, why do you wear the mask? Why hide your cute face?" I shrugged, my cheeks feeling warm. "I don't really know." As far as I could tell I had to real reason to, I mean sure I have braces in my mouth, but that's not a reason to hide my face. "Wait, is it your braces?" I shrugged. "I don't remember."
"I doubt it's your braces because you never wore it when you first got them."
"When did I get them?" She face-palmed. "You know, you're hard to talk to like this."
"Well I'm sorry K- Sasaki."
"Why is it so hard for you to just call me Kat?"
"Because, I don't know who you are, it's just weird for me to say it...I'm sorry." I sighed, I was starting to feel bad for not remembering. She seems to be a bit better today, but I still feel like she's not the safest person to be around. I shook it off. "It's fine Yoyo, but can you at least call me Katsu instead of Sasaki?" I nodded. "Alright Sas- Katsu...Sorry." I sighed, this was going to be a long day, I could tell. She chuckled. "Is it going to take you sometime to start calling me Katsu again isn't it?" I replied with a simple nod. "I figured, let's move on from this and head to dining-room." I nodded.
With that Sasaki ran ahead of me. I sighed and took a look around me. After not finding anyone, I pulled up the map on my phone thingy. I navigated my way to the dining-room. I walked in to see everyone else was already sitting around at the table in the middle of the room. There was one open seat next to Yukimura, but on the other side of him was Inoue. From what I could tell he was bothering Yukimura. I walked over and sat down. "Hello Yukimura...Inoue." The ginger archer looked at me. "Yasu~" He purred, causing me to groan in disgust. "What Inoue?" Then Sasaki shouted from across the table. "Touch her and I'll gut you!" He took that as a challenge and gently stroked my arm, but of course I pulled away in disgust. Sasaki slammed her hand on the table. "YOU WANT TO TEST ME BOY?!?!?"
"Bring it on bitch." He pulled out an arrow and his bow. Sasaki pulled out three kunai. My eyes widened. "Guys no, don't kill each other."
"Yoyo honey, I'm protecting you."
"Sasaki dear lord, I don't need your protection! I don't want it either! And Inoue! Shoot her with that arrow and I'll...um..." I actually don't know how to threaten people; I'm anything but threatening. "You'll what?"
"I'll..."
"You won't do anything. You can't do anything. That's why you need someone like Sasaki to protect you." I shook my head. "She's not my guardian..."
"Sure seems like it. Look I understand that you need someone to protect you. I can be that for you."
"Ugh, no shut up."
"She's not interested in a dick like you." Sasaki sighed out. "Well I doubt she'd be interested in you either." He retorted. Finally, someone else spoke up. "Will the three of you shut up, sit down, and eat." The chemist shouted. I nodded, going silent. Sasaki sat down, and she slid her kunai into her pocket. Inoue sat down and placed his bow and arrow on the table. "Hey man, take the weapons off the table." Yukimura said softly. "What? Didn't I tell you to shut up?" He slammed his hand on the table in front of Yukimura, causing the timid boy to go quiet. I shook my head and sighed. I noticed the chemist get up and walk over to him. She took his bow and arrow before walking away, but he grabbed her wrist. "What are you doing?"
"Jurou told you nicely to take off the table, you didn't listen. So I'm being nice and taking it off for since you appear to have a thick skull and refuse to listen to this kind young puppeteer." He rolled his eyes and was suddenly greeted with his face being pushed into the table. "Excuse me? Do not roll your eyes at me. Before you can try to get a girlfriend, you should learn to respect one." She picked up his bow and arrow then returned to her seat. I blinked and everyone was quiet for the rest of breakfast.
I headed back to my room alone after breakfast. I seemed to have the day to myself, I spend the time walking around and exploring the school and even took a bit of a nap in between.
I looked at time. It was nine fifty-nine. Wow, it's late. Then that annoying bell went again. "It is now ten o'clock night time has begun. Leaving the dorm floor is prohibited at this time. Goodnight, sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite." Monokuma's voice echoed through my room. Huh, I guess just like in the morning he makes an announcement at night. That makes sense I guess. Just as I was about to lay down I heard a knock at my door.
I walked over slowly. "Yes?"
"Ishikawa~" I heard a cheery brit on the other side. I opened the door and motioned for her to come in. "Hello Riko."
"Just call me Nanami or Nami." I nodded. "Right okay."
"There's no need for you to be so formal darling."
"Sorry, I'm so used using everyone's surnames...I was thought to be polite."
"I understand." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "So why'd you stop by?"
"Huh? Oh, right. I just dropped by to check and see how you liked this place. I've been dropping by everyone's dorms and asking." I nodded, blindly trusting her. "Oh, okay. It's fine I suppose. I mean this is kind of like our prison so. It's not like I love it but there's no real escape. Just look at these windows, bared shut." I began to go on and on complaining about the mansion. "Um, Yasu I should head back to my dorm and rest. Tell me more later..." I nodded. "Alright."
"Ta-ta."
"Goodnight Nanami."
"Night Yasu." And with that she left my room, closing the door behind her. It hit me that maybe I shouldn't be so trusting around these people. I mean sure she seemed pretty innocent, but I've met some people in my life time that seemed so nice at first then they just turn into such horrible people once they gain your trust...
I laid myself down on the bed and stared at the ceiling thinking about this. We were all excepted into Hope's Peak academy to be students there, but now we're in this strange mansion who knows where being told to kill each other, and for what? Little did I know Monokuma had a few tricks up his sleeve.
*ding dong* *bing bong*
"GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING STUDENTS!" Blared in the room, making me jump out of bed. "LET'S WELCOME ANOTHER BEAUUUUUUUTIFUL DAY~" The monitor shut off, I heaved in a panic. "Stupid bear..." I ran downstairs to the dinning-room, I was one of the first ones there this time. The only others there were: Riko, Mio and Ito. Riko and Mio seemed to be talking while Ito looked around, tapping her foot gently on the floor. Soon after I walked in she noticed me and walked over. "Hello Ishikawa."
"Oh, hello Ito."
"You see those two over there?" I nodded. "Yes, why? What are they talking about."
"I'm not sure, but Mio is not very well versed in Japanese, she seems to not even be able to hold a conversation."
"I know, I've talked to her." I sighed softly. Ito nodded. "Strange girl."
"I agree." She really was strange. She wore a kimono and her obi was tied very poorly, I'm surprised it was even staying in that knot. I watched Riko and Mio interact. Riko seemed to be getting fairly angry with Mio, I wonder why, then again Mio was pretty annoying. I walked over. "Hey guys what's going on?"
"Oh, I was just trying to help Haruka with her Japanese is all." Riko said with an innocent smile. "Really because you seemed pretty angry..."
"No, not angry just a bit frustrated, we've been working on simple greetings for the last twenty minutes." I stared blanking at Mio, twenty minutes? For something as simple as hello, good morning and how are you? That's basic Japanese anyone could understand, shouldn't someone who's from Japan know Japanese, just like the rest of us. "Haruka, let's try again. O-ha-yo go-zai-mas."
"Oh hi you go die mat. Nya!" I face palmed. This girl has some serious issues. Riko sighed heavily. "Okay, never mind moving on next word. Kon ban wa."
"Coat bang wow. Nya!" Mio replied with enthusiasm. I cringed and looked at Riko. "Have fun with that, just try not to hurt her." Riko nodded slowly. "Yeah, I'll try not to." I walked away and sat at the table waiting for the others to arrive. The first to arrive was Haruka soon after was Yasu then Kazue. Eventually, everyone else can in, the last one being Sasaki, Why was she late? I sighed. She strolled over and sat in the empty seat next me. "Sorry I'm late doll." She said as she sat in the chair. "What? Why are you apologizing?" She shrugged. "Force of habit." Force of habit? I mean sure, I was starting to believe her, but then again...I'm sure I've told someone that before...maybe she just found out from them. This is why I can't trust anyone with my secrets. I sighed. "Sasaki...what do you mean?"
"Well you were always getting on me for being late to class."
"I was?" I noticed the others were beginning to stare at us. "You two know each other?" I heard Inoue shout as he walked over. I rolled my eyes as Sasaki retaliated. "Yes, we do. Is there a probably pretty boy?"
"Oh, so you do find me attractive?"
"The only part of me that's attracted to you is my fist."
"Oh really? You seem hesitant to lay a hand on m-" Before he could finish his sentence Sasaki's fist hit his chest hard enough to knock him down. He looked up at her, cracking his knuckles and standing up. "You know what."
"What?" The two of them pulled out their weapons. "You want to fight don't you Ew noway." He loaded an arrow into his bow. Sasaki tossed a kunai at him, but luckily he ducked before the blade hit him. He raised his bow in her direction. I sighed softly, jumping between the two as he let got of the arrow and she tossed another kunai. I was struck in the arm by the arrow and hit in the shoulder with the kunai. I fell the the ground screaming in pain. Both of them ran to my side. "Shit, Yoyo...are you okay?"
"Yasu...Sasaki this is what happens."
"You're telling me? You should be the one ap-...you know what...forget that. Yasu is in pain and bleeding." Sasaki got up, I watched as she ran over to Watanabe. I looked at my arm and let out a tiny laugh. "You two shouldn't fight. Especially over someone as insignificant as myself." Sasaki shook her head. "You really think you're insignificant? Even after..." She looked down, a hurt expression on her face. "E-even after what Sa...S-s...a...k..." My vision begun to fade into darkness.
For a moment I had actually forgotten, I thought it was just a nightmare. I thought that as soon as I opened my eyes it would be morning and I'd be at home, with my mother and little brother. I'd go to school and make friends. I'd go back to being a normal girl. I couldn't have been more wrong. I slowly opened my eyes, my vision slowly focused on what was in front of me. This wasn't my room, just as I expected, it wasn't a dream. Then the pain hit me. I screamed out. I almost forgot about taking the arrow and kunai. I'm sure my arm is pretty messed up. I took a look around, this wasn't my assigned room either. Where was I? I noticed Sasaki was sleeping in the corner on the floor. Did she come in here to watch over me or something? I sat up, using my good arm as leverage. "Kat!!" I called out to her, why I'd called her Kat I'm unsure. "Hey! Kat!" She looked up at me. "Yoyo! You're okay, right?" Now that I thought about it she looked and sounded a bit younger, I also noticed a scar on her left cheek. "Y-yeah I'm okay." I wanted to ask questions, but every time I tried to speak I'd say something different than what I was thinking, but why? I shook it off. I was suddenly hugged by her, she was shaking. Was she crying? "Katsu?" I pulled her head up to look at me. "What's wrong?" She looked at me, tears staining her cheeks. I gently wiped them away. "Y-yasu...I-I was so scared..." She punched my uninjured arm. "DON'T WORRY ME LIKE THAT DAMMIT!!!"
"Ow, the hell Kat. What even happened?"
"Y-you..." She looked down. "You tired to protect me...I...told you not to come with me..." Go with you where? What? I was so confused. What was she talking about. "I'm sorry K-"
"No, I'm sorry Yasu...I told you it was dangerous...but I didn't stop you from coming...You almost died because of me." I gently touched my shoulder. What is she talking about? "Kats-"
"Yasu...I should go...my...parents are going to...yell at me again if I don't return soon. I'll already be in trouble for ditching school today." I sighed softly. "Don't you ever ditch school to see me again." She stared at me. "What? Why shouldn't I? Do you not understand how much you mean to me?"
"Kat, listen to me."
"No, you listen to me. I will skip school everyday until you can bring your skinny ass back."
"...Why don't you ever listen to me dammit! I JUST WANT YOU TO SUCCEED IN LIFE, WHY WON'T YOU LET ME HELP YOU!!!" Tears began to roll down my cheeks. "I-I...want you to have a future doing something other than mercenary work. W-we both know I won't be able to make myself anything...b-but you have a chance..." I felt her heavy hand come across my face. "Don't say that...Yasu...I refuse to let you keel over and die." I sighed. "Go home Katsu..."
"Fine...I'm skipping school tomorrow too,"
"No, if I see you again tomorrow I'm kicking you out." Sasaki shook her head. "No you won't, and hey don't complain to me when you're lonely." I threw my pillow at her. "Get out, don't get in anymore trouble."
"You can't stop me."
"Do it for me..." She looked down. "Okay..." I smiled at her. "Love you Kat."
"Love you too Yoyo." She turned to walk out. "See you later dollface." I felt my cheeks heat up as she left. I laid back and stared at the ceiling. I could have sworn I heard Sasaki's voice yelling at someone. "THIS IS YOUR FAULT!! IF YOU HAD JUST TAKEN A HINT AND LEFT HER ALONE THIS WOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED!!! I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY WITH YOURSELF!!" I looked around, what the hell? I felt a hand on my wrist, despite no one being around. I suddenly jolted awake. What? I thought...was that just a dream? It felt real...Watanabe held me back. "Hey Ishikawa, you need to lay down."
"Yasu!" Sasaki ran over to me. "Sasaki, you're to blame for this as well." Watanabe said with a stern expression. "I know, but he was pissing me off." I looked away from her, I don't really know why but looking at her made me feel upset. "Yasu?"
"What? What the hell do you want Sasaki?"
"I-I...I'm sorry...I didn't think you would ju-...I never learn..." I looked at her when she said that. "What?" She shook her head as she turned to leave. "Nothing, I'll leave you alone Ishikawa...something I should have done in the beginning when you couldn't remember me." She sounded hurt. She was gone before I could even say anything. "She kept asking me about you. She came and checked on you every five to ten minutes. Are the two of you close?"
"I-I honestly have no clue." I sighed looking at Watanabe, and I noticed Inoue behind her. "WHAT IS HE DOING HERE?!?!" I suddenly yelled out. Watanabe sighed softly. "He was called here by Sasaki, and the two of them just had an argument over who's fault this was...he just hasn't left yet."
Before I could utter a response the monitor in the room came on. "Um, I'm getting bored. Can I have all of you meet up in the the foyer? Not like you really have a choice." Monokuma's voice rang throughout the room. "What could he want now?" Inoue sighed with frustration. "Like hell I'm going to listen to that thing."
"Inoue, you should probably go. I'm going to be taking Ishikawa there, plus you never know what he could do to you if you disobey him."
"Ugh, fine." He left the room. It was just Watanabe and I now. "Can you get up on your own?"
"Probably, the damage is in my arm not my legs."
"You're right..." I shifted my body into a position I could easily get up in, and I slid off the bed. "By the way, Watanabe."
"Yes?"
"Where are we?"
"In my room! Everyone's rooms are personalized to their talent." I nodded. "Makes sense. I guess." She nodded. "Well let's get going!" She escorted me out of the room and down to the foyer. Monokuma was sitting at the top of the main staircase. "Hello students!" Everyone groaned. "What is it you want from us?" Kouki yelled at him. "Despair."
"But before you said you were bored, nya?" Mio cut in. "What did you mean by that, nya?" Monokuma cupped his paws? around his mouth. "Upupupu, I want someone to die." I stared at the black and white bear, anger plaster across my face. "Get on with it, I don't have the time for this." Ito sighed out. "You guys are no fun." He cried. "Why don't you all take a look at your Electro-IDs." When he said that everyone reached reluctantly for their own. I looked at mine.
Name: Yasu Ishikawa
Ultimate: Peacemaker
Nationality: Japanese
Sex: female
Motive: Until a murder has occurred, no student will be permitted to sleep. Any student caught sleeping will be "punished."
I stared at my screen confused, before putting it back in my pocket. "You can't be serious."
"I'll kill you bastard!" Sasaki yelled at him. "Sasaki calm d-"
"SHUT IT YASU! YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!!" She looked back to where Monokuma was, he'd disappeared. I noticed Riko leave the room with Mio. I raised an eyebrow, following them. "Yasu..." Sasaki called out to me as I continued walking away. She walked with me. "Yasu, where are you going?"
"Shh." I looked at her. "Riko and Mio walked off together, isn't that a bit suspicious?" I whispered to her. She nodded. "I-I guess, but you should leave it alone." I shook my head, pushing ahead of her, she quickly caught up to me. "You know, you can't possibly be faster than a hitman." I sighed, slightly annoyed. "Go away Sasaki..."
I looked over to see Riko and Mio talking in the hallway, I stopped and pushed my arm out in front of Sasaki. "Look, they're over there, be quiet." We listened in to their conversation. "It's nothing, I'm sure you're just seeing things, nya." Mio cried out, seemingly in distress. Riko sighed softly. "Oi, calm down. I was just asking what it was I saw on you're ID there, if it is yours."
"It is...It says Haruka Mio, just like yours says Nanami Riko, nya."
"Are you sure? It looked like someone else's name and face to me." I went to walk over to them before getting pulled back by Sasaki. "Yoyo, the hell are you doing?" She stared at me, her grey eyes piercing into me. "I'm going to stop them from fighting, Riko is going to hurt Mio." She sighed letting me go. "Fine, go do your job." I smiled as I walked over to them.
"H-hey, Riko let Mio go. What are you doing?" They both turned to look at me. "I was just asking her a few questions." Riko stated as she let go of Mio's arm. "That's not what that looked like to me, you seemed to be heckling her." I looked at Mio, holding my hand out to her. "Come on Mio, let's get you back to the rest of the class, yeah?"
"Are we got yo go why moss, Nya!" She smiled at me, I forced out a small laugh and smiled. Riko sighed. "I'm sorry Haruka, I didn't mean to bother you like that." Mio nodded at Riko. "It's okay Nanami, you didn't mean any harm by it, Nya!" She said, smiling at Riko, for some reason I didn't like the tone in her voice. It was strange, her voice sounded so nice, but almost threatening at the same time.
I shook it off as nothing and returned to the group holding Mio's hand. Everyone was in a fuss over the motive, I myself didn't see a problem with it. I really didn't understand what Sasaki's problem with the fact that we can't sleep, I honestly doubt she sleeps much herself, so what was the issue? What was so concerning to her?
Inoue looked over to me and Mio. "Ah, you got a new girlfriend to replace that bitch?" He pointed to Sasaki. Kouki pushed him roughly. "Fuck off and leave the girl alone...maybe she doesn't need a dicknozzle like you bullying her..." He was quickly pushed to the ground by the taller male, clearly stronger male.
I rushed over to them. "H-Hey, please don't fight...especially over me. Inoue, I would it if you left me alone. If you're still trying to convince me to date you, this is defiantly, not the way to do it."
I offered to help Kouki up. "I mean look at what you've done so far, you've bullied Yukimura, provoked Sasaki more than once, shot me in the arm, harassed me, bullied me, and now you're trying to provoke Kouki. How about you learn some self control you and pull your head out of your ass. Start thinking about what it'd be like to have people push you around."
Inoue rolled his eyes. "Whatever, I don't give a shit about what you have to say." He turned away from me, before walking off he looked at Sasaki then me. "Maybe you'll realize these people are useless to you, even that hitman over there." I shook my head, pulling Kouki up then walking back to Mio. "Look I'm sorry about that Mio."
"Ei, it's fine." I closed my eyes and pretended she didn't just mix Japanese with English. I looked at Watanabe. "Hey, Watanabe. Can I go talk with Mio for a little while?" She checked the time. "Oh, well Night time is going to start soon." I stared at her. "Wait, but I passed out during breakfast..." The doctor nodded slowly. "You were unconscious for a long time Ishikawa." I looked at Mio. "Can we hang out tomorrow?" She nodded. "No problem senpai, nya!" I smiled. "See you then."
Everyone had already started heading back to their rooms. I walked upstairs, the rule is no sleeping so maybe the nighttime rules don't apply anymore. I still went into my room to wait for the announcement.
Ding Dong Bing Bong
The bell rang through the halls. I turned my attention towards the monitor in my room. "It's now ten p.m, but due to the current motive it is not nighttime, you are all free to roam the rooms available to you. There will be refills of coffee in the kitchen once every hour. Have fun~" The screen shut off. I was left alone in my room, already feeling a little tired.
I walked out into the hallway, and made my way downstairs. I needed some coffee. I heard footsteps behind me, but when I turned around no one was there. I shrugged it off and kept walking, now I was feeling a little unnerved. When I made it to the kitchen to pour a cup of coffee, I turned around to see the source of the footsteps was of course Sasaki, stalking me once again. Was this going to be a normal thing she does now? What is her fascination with me?
I thought back to the dream I had earlier, then hell was that? It felt like it actually happened, but it didn't there's no way that was possible. Two more had entered, Mio and Yasu. Yasu went straight for the coffee, swiftly poured a cup then left, without saying a word to any of us. He didn't seem to want to talk to anyone very much. "Oh, hello senpai, Nya!" Mio waved at me. "Hello Mio, ho-."
"You don't have to be so formal senpai, Nya!"
"Perhaps that's true, but..."
"But, what Yasu? Everyone has been telling you that you needn't be so formal. Why don't you listen?" Sasaki cut in. I sighed softly. "Well, I'm sorry...I'm just not used to being so casual with my classmates, or anyone really..." Mio bowed slightly, her stance as strange she wasn't down all the way.
"Hey, H-Haruka, did you come here to get coffee like Yasu?" Sasaki asked Mio, to which she shook her head. "No, I noticed Senpai come in here and since nighttime is nonexistent until someone dies, I wanted to hang out with her. Nya!"
"I see, well as l-" I interrupted her. "Excuse me, Sasaki what were you doing following me? Where you trying to get me alone? Have you just been spouting lies so I would trust you? You just want to kill me don't you? You're probably the one behind this aren't you?"
I was starting to get tense, why didn't I think about this before. Maybe this was her plan all along, make me forget middle school so that way she could lure me into a false sense of security so she could kill me off and never get caught.
I backed away from her. "Stay away from me..." She sighed softly. "I'm trying to protect you dammit. At least give me a chance to explain myself to you. I want to protect you, after all I put you through this is my way of trying to help you." I shook my head. "The hell are you talking about, I don't know you. We've been over this plenty of times. I don't know you or anyone else in this damn building."
Sasaki looked down. "What happened to you? You used to put trust into everyone. You saw the beauty of the human race even in those no one had any hope for." I grabbed Mio's arm. "Piss off Sasaki...I want you to leave me alone." I walked out with Mio, I'd get some coffee later, when that psycho wasn't following me anymore. "Alright, Mio. So what do you want to talk about?"
"Anata wa senpai, nya!" I stared at her, I kind of understood her even though it was improper phrasing. "Oh, okay...um...Well...where should I start? I don't remember everything right now though..." I sighed. I looked at her.
"Well, I grew up in a small apartment, with just my mom and I...I was pretty lonely. We'd visit the rest of the family often though, I was always the oldest kid though so it was kind of hard when everyone else was at least five years younger than me. I did well in school, I always have...I don't really have much else to say...there isn't much to me..."
Mio smiled. "But you're cool, nya!" She pushed my hair away from my face and stared at me. "Senpai is the best, nya!" I smiled softly at her. "What do you mean? I haven't done anything I've only stopped people from bullying you." Mio nodded. "I know, nya!"
"So it's really not that big of a deal then right?" I nervously rubbed the back of my neck, I really wasn't sure what to talk about now, she wants to talk about me, but I told her all there is to know. At least that I'm comfortable sharing with her right now, this whole thing is still a little strange to me. "I'm really not used to talking to other people I'm sorry Mio." She shook her head still with that large grin on her face as always. "It's no problem senpai, nya! If senpai wants to get some coffee and be alone then senpai is welcome to, nya!" I chuckled softly and nodded. "Alrighty then, I'll see you around then Mio." She nodded. "Yeah, bye senpai, nya!" I took in a deep breath and thought for a second. I sat in a chair and sighed, bored out of my mind, I pretty much have all the time in the world to do anything. I guess I could talk to the others. Actually on second thought, I'd rather avoid them. They're all crazy. I got some coffee and headed to my room. I sat at the desk that was in there and began to doodle on some random papers.
Once I was finished, I groaned and threw myself down onto my bed and stared at the ceiling for a while. "Now that that's over with, I have no idea what to do." I rolled over and felt my eyelids start to get heavy. I quickly shot up and jumped off the bed. "I need to do something, if I just lay around like this I'm going to fall asleep." I pushed my door open and looked around. "I wonder if Riko has been bothering Mio again..." I rubbed my eyes and adjusted my mask.
I decided to got some more coffee before going to talk to her. I walked into the kitchen and poured myself more coffee, despite me hating the taste of the dammed beverage. I inhaled softly and took a sip, gagging almost immediately. I wanted to finish this damn drink before going to speak with Mio. That's when it happened, that's when I realized things weren't going to be easy in this killing game. The sound of the monitors turning on echo through the halls, it scared me and I let out a small shriek. I turned looked at the monitor in the kitchen, the damned bear was there as usual. "So, I'm kind of starting to get bored, and if I don't see a dead body by daylight I'll just kill you all myself. So have fun and enjoy your next hour or so!" The monitor shut off after that, I stood there in shock. An hour? Is that really all the time we have left until the sun rises? I looked at the nearby clock to find it was 4:59. "We really only have an hour? Hah, damn bear must be fuckin' crazy." I jumped again once I heard Sasaki's voice behind me. "What the hell?! Sasaki don't sneak up on my like that! What do you want from me now? Have you finally come to kill me? I mean we have an hour to live so now would be the perf-" She sighed softly, looking down shaking her head. "Dammit Yasu...just trust me...I came here to protect you...I don't want anything bad to happen to you..." I scoffed. "Protect me, need I remind you of breakf-"
"YOU JUMPED IN THE WAY. THAT WAS YOUR OWN FAULT. IF YOU WOULD LEARN TO STAY OUT OF THE WAY OF DANGER--" She chuckled softly. "You know what? It's not worth it, you clearly don't care. I just wanted to try to keep my friend out of harms way. I'm sorry that I'm such a bitch." She started to walk away. I hesitated, but I grabbed her arm. "Hey...I'm sorry...you just kind of made me a bit uneasy...I guess I can trust you for the next hour or so...just...put the weapons down yeah?" She nodded and without any hesitation she dropped everything, it was really weird to see her like this. She seemed to be in a bit of a vulnerable spot at the moment, maybe I could get some answers out of her now. "So, Sasaki...you said that we knew each other in middle school? I just, I don't remember anything...could you maybe explain some of it to me?" She sighed softly, and shrugged. "I don't know...what will it really be worth in the end? You learn about our friendship just so that...so that...that motherfucking bear can just go on ahead and...kill you? Kill us? Does that seem fair to you Ishikawa? Does it?" She let a tear escape her eye, but she quickly wiped it away. I let out a soft sigh, I didn't mean to make her upset. "I'm sorry...I just thought that if you were telling the truth, you'd at least be able to tell me a little about it before we died." Sasaki nodded. "Right... I'm not in the mood..." I hummed and gave her a hug. As much as I didn't trust her, it still hurt to see someone cry. She was clearly upset, she hugged me back tightly and started to sob heavily into my shoulder, I pat her back. "Hey...there's no reason to cr-"
I was cut off by the loud echo of the monitors. No, it couldn't have been an hour yet, could it? I looked over at the clock, only about twenty minutes had past. I was confused, what could be the cause for this announcement? Then he said it, my arms fell limp and I suddenly felt a rush of despair fall over me. "A body has been discovered!" The bear chuckled out. I didn't believe it. I couldn't believe it. I...had to see it unless there was some mistake. There had to have been a mistake, right? Where was it? Who was it? I looked at Sasaki, the assassin was still crying into my shoulder. "Are you going to be okay Sasaki?" She nodded and turned to walk away. "Hey, Sasaki!" I called out to her before she made it out the doorway. "Be sure to tell me later!" She smiled weakly and left me alone in the kitchen again. Now, to find that body...
