-- Pre-Show --

It was no regular morning for me as I stepped out of the car, my mid-neck length brown hair blown back by the late summer breeze passing through. I stared up at the intimidating school looming over me, grey eyes wide in awe. I still couldn't believe I was here, that I of all people had been scouted to attend.

I took the letter out of my trench coat's pocket to confirm once more that I really had been accepted, smiling to myself as I found out once again, it was true.

Miss Kiko Tamai,

You have been scouted to attend Hope's Peak Academy for your extraordinary accomplishments in your career path. You will be given the title of ultimate ------------.

The most well known and praised school in Japan had chosen me, and I wasn't going to pass up the opportunity. Taking one last deep breath, I stepped onto the school grounds, walking towards the building.

Before I could get close, my head was spinning. My vision was fading to black, until suddenly, I was submerged in darkness.

I slowly opened my eyes, frowning at the thought that attending Hope's Peak had been nothing more than a dream. That thought quickly faded, however, when I noticed that the bed I was laying on wasn't my own.

It was large, with blue drapes hanging from the tall bed posts, giving it a grand feeling of royalty. The blankets I was on top of matched as the same shade of navy blue, and I quickly sat up to look around the rest of the room. It kept the same royal feeling, the dresser against the right wall with a large mirror, which was engraved with intricate designs, those of which matched the twin side tables on either side of the bed. The floor was made of smooth wood but with a rough looking texture, and the walls were a soft off-white.

As I took everything in, I noticed a boy standing next to the door, his back against the wall. His hair was white and disheveled, almost matching his very pale skin. He had on a grey jacket with sleeves rolled up to his elbows, and dark blue jeans. His boots appeared to have steel toes. What drew me in however, were his his eyes when he looked up at me. His right eye was pink, while his left was a striking blue.

He put the tablet like device he was holding in his pocket, before greeting me with a soft smile. "Looks like you're finally awake."

"Where am I?" I asked as the boy approached me, "Who are you?"

"Oh, I'm in the same situation as you. We all are, the whole class." He sat down on the edge of the bed. "We weren't told much yet, just that everyone had to wake up first. We weren't allowed to wake you, but that didn't mean I couldn't come check on you." He paused for a moment, his mismatched eyes meeting my grey ones. "Sorry, where are my manners... I should introduce myself. My name's Fumio Yamaji."

"I'm Kiko Tamai..." I hesitantly replied, still trying to process everything. "Do you know what this place is? From the look of this room, I'd guess a castle or old mansion."

"That's what I was thinking too, but no one's really sure yet." Fumio responded, "The others are investigating the place, I think you should meet them. We were all about to attend Hope's Peak Academy, so I'm guessing it's the same for you."

He stood up and turned to me, holding out a hand with a small smile on his face. "I'll come with you, Tamai-chan, if you'll have me."

I hesitated for a moment before taking his hand, standing up from the bed. "Alright... that's fine by me."
