Chapter One - Deadly Life

I can't believe it. Me, Alice and Arianna are looking at the dead body of Won. Minori is standing a bit behind us, she probably didn't see the body yet.

Monoala: A body was discovered in the warehouse! You have 2 hours to investigate before the class trial starts!

We have to... Actually investigate...

Melissa: No... I don't want to investigate.

Arianna: My clothes would get so dirty!

Alice: Cowards. Do you want us all to get executed?!

Minori: C-can I see Won...

Melissa: Of course... But it's not a great sight...

The once energetic Ultimate Vlogger is now just pale, in a pool of dried blood, covered in several injuries, most noticeably the knife sticking out his lifeless body.

Alice: We have to stay here until others come to ensure that nobody tampers with the crime scene.

Soon after, everyone arrives.

Eugene: The Killing Game is afoot.

Aozora: I'm not gonna look... I can't handle blood...

Fernando: Who would do something like this?!

Netta: Yea! This is so evil?! What the fuck?!

Cody: I guess everyone depends on me, Cody Foster, to solve the mystery now...

Dale: I'm not that smart so I will watch the body to ensure nothing happens.

Minori: I will do the same... Then I can also pray that Won goes to heaven...

Monoala appears out of nowhere.

Monoala: Finally, someone broke! I was worried that nobody would murder!!!

Harper: Worried?! You sicko!

Monoala: Don't get mad at me! It is one of YOU that committed the murder! Anyway to help out, I have a very handy tool here: the Monoala File!

Joseph: The what-now file?

Monoala: The Monoala File! It shows some specifics about the murder.

The koala hands all of us a file, and I open it.

Cece: Melissa, do you wanna investigate together?

Melissa: Sure, Cece. I think we'll first look around the warehouse? The crime scene probably holds lots of clues.

Cece: If this even IS the crime scene...

Melissa: What do you mean?

Cece: Well, judging on the amount of blood, I think Won was stabbed after having already... you know... passed away.

Melissa: Oh... So then one of the two head wounds must have been the killing blow.

Cece: It seems like that, yes.

I look around the warehouse, and Won's body. Other than what Cece noticed about the stab wound, there doesn't seem to be anything special about him. Wait... There is something in his pocket. I pull it out.

It seems to be a... Note?

Cece: What's that?

Melissa: A note... Let me read it out loud. "Meet me in my apartment after the party, so we can record a video together"

Cece: Huh... Interesting. We should note this down.

Melissa: Perhaps the killer used this to lure Won?

Cece: That seems like a plausible option, yes.

Cece is looking through some things in the warehouse and sees a small strip of pills in a place where they don't belong.

Melissa: Are those the drugs that Harper handed out?

Cece: No... They seem to be an antidote against them. And look, one of them is missing.

Melissa: Huh... The plot thickens.

Cody points towards a wooden stool. Huh, he may be right. It was positioned slightly differently earlier. It's a good thing he has a photographic memory!

Melissa: You're right! Thank you, Cody!

Cece: I wonder what that was used for!

Melissa: I don't think there is much more here for us to find.

Cece: I agree, let's go to the garage next, it's next door after all!

When we arrive in the garage, the first thing I notice is that the trunk of the flashy car is open. And wait, didn't Alice and Minori also mention hearing the sound of a car last night? Interesting...

Melissa: We should probably investigate the car.

Cece: Yea, I agree. It's very clean, huh, except for this.

She grabs a magenta-colored hair.

Melissa: Wait, Won has that color hair! Could it be?!

Cece: So then the killer brought Won here, dragged him out of the trunk, and murdered him in the warehouse.

Melissa: That sounds like a plausible order of events to me.

Alice: You're missing an important detail.

Since when is Alice standing behind us?!

Melissa: What do you mean?

Alice: You really need to be fed all the clues, don't you?

Alice tries to close the trunk of the car, but it doesn't seem to close properly.

Me and Cece head back to the warehouse, but only Dale and Minori are there. I guess we will have to ask Cody later on.

Melissa: Where to next, Cece?

Cece: Hm... Let's go outside and maybe we'll get an idea.

Melissa: Okay!

We head out, and I check my surroundings.

I'm now at the place of the gray X. Won's apartment and all buildings are good to check out. Wait, there is also a CTV camera pointing in this direction! Could that have recorded something? Martin is standing near it.

Melissa: Hey Martin, do you think that camera could have recorded something?

Cece: Oh Melissa, you are so smart for thinking of that~!

Martin: Nope. Completely smashed.

Melissa: Wha-?

Martin: Some vandal broke it! Probably the killer, if you ask me.

Melissa: But that breaks rule 5 of the Killing Game!

Monoala appears.

Monoala: That's true, but whoever broke it asked me whether they would be allowed to do so, and well, I was sure it would make their murder plan more fun!

Cece: Murder plan?!

Melissa: Well, now it's confirmed that the killer broke it I guess.

Monoala: Silly koala! You should not reveal so much!

Monoala disappears.

Cece: That camera is pretty high up tho, huh?

Martin: Correct.

Cece tries to jump up, and she barely reaches the camera.

Cece: Well I guess with jumping, it's reachable.

I try to do the same, but miss it.

Martin: Well you are somewhat shorter than Cece, so I guess that's why. You probably need to be at least 5'9 to reach that CTV.

Melissa: I think that's important, thanks Martin.

Martin: No problem.

The CTV at the north of Despair Town is broken. You need to be about 5'9 to reach it through jumping

Cece: Well, that eliminates quite a few suspects. You, Won, Minori, Netta, Joseph and Aozora are all too short.

Melissa: Well I doubt Won would have you know, killed Won anyway...

Cece: True but, I think it's important to look into his actions anyway.

Melissa: Fair enough.

Martin: By the way, a piece of advice.

Cece: Hm?

Martin: You should head to the supermarket, Arianna is doing research there about the CTV footage.

Melissa: But it's broken!

Martin: True, but there are two other cameras too, one of which shows Won's apartment!

We thank him and head towards the supermarket. Arianna is sitting besides the computer on the counter.

Cece: I didn't know you were good with technology, aren't you the Ultimate Ballerina?

Arianna: Shut it.

Melissa: Well, did you find anything yet, Arianna?

Arianna: Of course I did. Any investigation I will do during this killing game will be perfect.

She is arrogant as always.

Cece: Do you wanna show us what you found on the two cameras?

Arianna: Alright. Look, this is the one that shows Won's apartment, and this is the most important part...

Arianna shows footage of everyone entering their apartment at some point before 0:30 AM, except for Cece! But surely she can't have done it... At 0:34 AM, Cece walks into the screen, and enters her apartment. Just after, at 0:35 AM, Eugene is shown leaving his apartment. Then, at 0:40 AM, the flashy red car appears on the screen, with an unknown driver. The driver steps out and knocks on Won's door, and steps inside. And 1 minute later, the driver is seen dragging what seems to be Won towards the trunk! What happened there?!

The CTV at the west part of the town shows that everyone entered their apartment before 0:30 AM, with the exception of Cece, she entered at 0:34 AM. At 0:35, Eugene left. At 0:40, a car appeared, and the driver managed to kidnap Won into the trunk.

Arianna: That bastard called Eugene looks very suspicious huh.

Cece: Yea... Did he murder Won?!

Melissa: It seems we got ourselves a first suspect...

Demos: It is simply too early to draw such a conclusion~

Demos is standing besides us.

Arianna: What do you mean?

Demos: Well, if you look at the footage of the south CTV, you will see Eugene walking towards the east side, no?

Arianna: Correct.

Cece: Yea, towards the garage to get the car!

Demos: You, my friend, are mistaken. At 0:44 AM, Eugene knocked on my door.

Melissa: Huh?!

Demos: He wanted to have a nightly discussion of ethics with me, the Ultimate Philosopher! He claimed it would help him out for his play...

Demos: By the way, did you find the owner of that Monopad?

Melissa: What Monopad?

Demos: Well, me and Eugene decided to walk during our nightly conversation, and we walked straight through the garage. There was a Monopad on the ground next to the car.

Cece: What?!

Arianna: A broken Monopad?! And the car was there?!

Demos: Correct. Considering my clock said 0:44 AM once Eugene arrived, we probably got in the garage at around 0:46 AM.

Melissa: 6 minutes after Won was dragged into the car...

Cece: Was the trunk of the car opened?

Demos: I don't remember something so trivial. You will have to ask Eugene about that.

At 0:44 AM, Eugene came over to Demos' apartment, and the two took a nightly stroll, discussing ethics. At 0:46 AM they came through the garage. There was a broken Monopad on the floor.

Cece: Monoala really needs to make his rules more strict... This is the 1000th broken property.

Monoala appears again.

Monoala: Well, I do anything for a fun mystery! Hahaha!

Andddd he's gone.

Melissa: I wonder where that Monopad went, it wasn't on the floor when we were in the garage, I'm sure of it.

Cece: Yea I don't think I saw it either.

Demos: A mystery arises!

Arianna: Well, I have mine right here. Not broken.

Arianna shows her Monopad, it indeed is not broken.

Cece: Restaurant next?

Melissa: Sure, there is a specific thing I wanna check there.

Cece: Okay! Thought you'd have a really good idea on what to look into already!
