Shuichi and Kokichi were best friends.

Except for one thing.

Shuichi had a huge crush on Kokichi.

He would do anything for him.

He would climb mountains, leap cliffs, and dodge fire.

He will run fearless.

He'll find a way.

Shuichi could wait. Love was patient.

No matter what happened, Shuichi and Kokichi would always be there for each other.

"We're always gonna be there for each other!" Kokichi had told him, "We're best friends after all!"

Shuichi walked down the street.

This was the day.

He was going to confess.

Shuichi looked up, a determined look on his face.

He glanced across the road.

Rantaro Amami was there, with an arm wrapped around Kokichi.

They seemed to be having a conversation. Kokichi giggled, and pulled down Rantaro to kiss him.

Shuichi and Kokichi made eye contact. He waved.

Kokichi did nothing back. He grabbed Rantaro and walked down the street faster.

He was too late.

Shuichi had so many chances to tell him how he felt, yet he never took any of them.

That was his downfall.
