Just Don't Do That Again(Trial Five)

Listen to the song. It's the dubbed version of Game of Life by Hatsune Miku. Thank you to RuetheShinyEevee for the suggestion. If you have any more, tell me. I will love you. You want my love.

Wyatt stiffened once the intercom shut off.

The three of them heard noises and footsteps down the hall. Chase opened the door, poking his head in. "Come on."

Griffin sighed, running a hand through his hair. "You guys go. I need to look at just one more thing." He looked slightly uncomfortable next to Chase, who had suddenly taken interest in a spider on the wall.

Star pursed her lips. "Alright. Don't be long."

Wyatt and Star walked out of the room with Chase in pursuit. There was a half minute of awkward silence, until Chase cleared his throat nervously. "If Dagger has that much of money to afford a hundred new TVs and still have enough pocket change to purchase the country of Russia, then why isn't he spending it on the intercom? That thing kills me everytime there's another announcement."

Wyatt winced slightly at the mention of kill.

They arrived at the front of the elevator. The picture of Crimson was still carved in. Wyatt noticed everyone avert their gaze to the floor. Everyone looked slightly tired and confused, Thane being the worst. White bandages peeked out from the collar of his jacket. There were bags under his eyes, and every breath seemed to hurt him.

Harmony looked around. "Huh? Where's Griffin? He's the last one."

Cassie shrugged. "Wasn't with me. How about you, Wyatt?"

Wyatt nodded. "Yeah, he said he had one more place to look before he came back."

Almost on cue, Griffin appeared, turning around the corner. "Hey, sorry. I had to check the chemistry room for the poison. I found it." He held up the vial for them to see.

Dagger appeared, walking down the hall. "Well? Shall we go?" he smirked.

Wyatt rolled his eyes. "Ladies first."

Dagger grinned, walking in. "Glad you like me that way, Clark."

"Gross," Star muttered, entering into the elevator.

Griffin made a sound in agreement, stepping in, his hand clutching the glass vial of poison tightly. "This is a sick murder. I wonder who would do such a thing."

"Someone other than Dagger, obviously," Cassie scoffed.

The elevator went down slowly, with soft chatter amongst the group. Thane looked around, sighing. "I kind of remember what happened. Slowly, I'm regaining my memory."

Star smiled faintly. "That's good. Hope you get more. I have a feeling this next trial is going to be the hardest one yet."

The elevator door opened, revealing the red ambience of the Trial Room. Dagger walked slowly up to his throne, sitting down first as he watched the remaining seven guests walk slowly up to their stands. He laughed lightly, watching them before standing up. "Only seven of you left! The odds are at stake! I wonder who will get murdered next?" He raised an eyebrow. "Oh, wait, I already know the murderer. Can't believe they used resources from their own supplies and others. Smart person."

Wyatt grit his teeth together. "Who?"

"Not telling! Ahahahahaha!" Dagger smiled. "Anyway, now we shall begin the trial for the murder of Sophie Richardson, the Ultimate Explosives Expert! One, two, three, let us begin!"

Star sighed. "This is monotonous. Anyway, Sophie was found with slow-acting poison in her system, as well as multiple cuts on her body that were most likely made after she was murdered. Our first mystery should be on AlterAssassin."

Griffin sighed. "What can we say? He was broken into pieces when we found him."

"There's the picture though," Thane pointed out. "The threat to Cassie. If the same person drew that picture with the sidewalk chalk, then that would say some things."

Wyatt nodded. "The writing. It was low on the wall, right? That would mean the murderer is either really short, or they faked it."

Star examined each person closely. "The shortest one here is Harmony. However, even though Harmony could reach it, the writing is too messy to be hers. I've seen her autopsy notes, and the handwriting is very neat."

"She could fake it," Chase suggested, earning a glare from Thane.

Star shook her head. "I have enough knowledge of my job to know a couple of things. This is obvious natural writing. Also, the person who wrote this is obviously a lefty. See how the writing slants to right?"

Wyatt nodded. "Harmony writes her notes with her right hand, right? Then assuming our suspect isn't ambidextrous, then it's most likely not her."

"The next short person is Cassie. Cassie was the threat in the picture."

"What if she killed Sophie? She had the motivation. She could've killed Sophie so that she would delay her death." Griffin crossed his arms. "She could've also done the picture herself so she could trick us into thinking that she needed help, and then killed Sophie because Star assigned it."

"No, that's wrong." Wyatt said.

Griffin raised an eyebrow. "How?"

"Remember the autopsy? She was murdered with slow-acting poison. Would Cassie plan that far ahead as to poisoning her and knowing exactly when she needed to cover up for the murder?"

Griffin frowned. "Point taken."

Thane sighed in exasperation. "Maybe we should solve the murder first. I mean, based on what we're hearing here, the murderer is a genius. It's more than possible that they were the person who killed AlterAssassin and made that death threat to Cassie. What if all of those things were diversion?"

Star nodded. "In fact, let's go through our possible suspects, shall we?"

"The first one is obviously Thane," Harmony murmured shakily.

Griffin sighed. "Well, we have a lot of evidence against him. For one thing, he was standing there. He had blood on his clothes. He was supposed to be in the infirmary."

Wyatt bit his lower lip. "Well, that's true. We learned that Thane was not cured of the Despair Disease."

Chase looked shocked. "What!? We had a contagious, half-insane nerd running around with us!?"

"Don't be mean, Chase," Cassie chastised him. "He's been through a lot."

Chase rolled his eyes. "He's suspicious."

"Harmony," Star said, "Where were you when Thane disappeared from the infirmary? We're not suspecting you, we just want to know your side of the story."

Harmony nodded fearfully. "Well, Chase and I left with Thane to the infirmary. As soon as we got there, Chase said he wanted to check on something, to make sure it was still with him. I helped Thane relax, and then Cassie came down alone. She looked on edge, and asked me where her room was because she was lost. I was just standing in the middle of the hallway, telling her the directions..." Harmony teared up, wiping her eyes quickly. She set her chin in determination. "And then when I got back, Thane had disappeared. That's when I heard the announcements and I got a really bad feeling. I ran into Cassie, who was still looking for her room."

Star looked at Wyatt. "We need to question your story just a little bit. To make sure you were telling the truth." She turned to Chase. "Where were you when you guys got to the infirmary?"

Chase nodded. "Harmony was correct. I left the room to go check and see if my crystal ball was still there. I lost one in the very beginning when we got here, and ever since I've gone after every bad situation to check on my spares."

Star turned to Cassie. "Where were you as soon as they left you?"

Cassie sighed. "I don't even know what happened. One minute I was fine, and then I forgot everything as soon as those two left. Nothing. I couldn't remember anything at all. I wandered the place until I found Harmony."

"Wait a minute." Wyatt piped up. "Thane didn't remember anything either when I found him. Do you think the same person who beat Thane took away Cassie's memories?"

Everyone looked to Dagger, who recoiled slightly. "Why are you looking at me?"

"Because you have security cameras?" Griffin asked, rolling his eyes. "And you know who the murderer is and everything about it? And I'm guessing that brain of yours was big enough to put two and two together and figure out that everything was done by one person?"

Dagger scowled. "Watch your mouth. And for your information, Cassie never had her memories taken. It was just a side effect of something."

Star frowned before her eyes widened. "She caught the Despair Disease too?"

He laughed. "Smart little cookie, aren't you?"

"Shut up. No one likes you."

"You'd be surprised, Detective."

Wyatt groaned. "You sound like a married couple."

"Shut up!" they both yelled.

Wyatt flinched.

Star sighed, looking down at her stand. "Anyway. Thane had the Despair Disease. You're saying Cassie caught it from him?"

Griffin shrugged. "It sounds plausible. Even Chase said it. He had a contagious nerd running around with us."

"So Cassie's alibi matches Harmony's," Chase concluded. "Last one is Thane."

"Thing is, Thane doesn't remember anything," Wyatt said. "The murder would have been a lot easier for us to figure out."

Griffin nodded. "It's like the car forgot to hit the brakes and crashed into a nursing home."

"Shut it with the analogies, Griffin," Dagger sighed. "You're just as annoying as AlterAssassin."

Star bit the inside of her cheek. "Well, it's obvious then. Cassie had her memories lost because of the Despair Disease, while Thane had his taken."

"I don't think we're going anywhere." Wyatt admitted. "I mean, all we've managed to figure out is that Harmony's alibi is accurate and that Thane's memories were taken by the murderer."

"We don't know if AlterAssassin's death, Sophie's death, Thane's horrible conditions, and the threat are connected, though," Griffin sighed.

"No, that's wrong."
