Side: Future 9: You Are My Reason To Die
Well, this episode took Danganronpa to new heights!
New heights of mobs of fans ready to burn Kodaka for what he has done to us.
Yeah, this episode fucking hit me hard. I'm pretty sure it did that to all of us.
But, we've had two days to cope, and now it's time for part of why this book exists. To help those who want more DR3 than they can get from watching it by themselves!
So naturally, this chapter is just gonna be a review chapter to go over all the info we know from the first 8 episodes of each arc. That way we'll be able to take on the next episode with gusto!
No it won't. I lied.
Okay, when has there been a recap episode in any anime? I don't think I've ever seen a recap episode. Anyone else?
Now, Monokuma says "All the branch directors came", but we haven't seen the 13th. People are saying they are the mastermind and/or the 16th player. I honestly don't know, but we better find out who it is. Maybe it's Chiaki and she actually lived.
And Hiro is trapped outside again. I don't know whether to be grateful or upset, because he most likely won't die out there, but I fear that he might some way to get into trouble. My boy Hiro better live, Kodaka.
Future Diary, anyone?
Just kidding.
So, how long until someone draws a fanart of a Monofish?
By the way, for you sharp eyed viewers out there, Juzo punched and knocked down the "Dead End" sign right before the opening played. I'm starting to really like him.
Oh, the opening reminded me of something. I guess Koichi reaching and grabbing Kyoko's hand to pull her up was like the opening, but I feel like Makoto is gonna have another shot at connecting that event to him.
Can someone explain why this room is shown? Is there something important about it? If it's just an empty room, why show a shot of it? It didn't show the room on the other side that Juzo looked in.
There's that mark on the door that vanished. Everything is coming together.
I don't know why, but this picture makes me think of Metal Gear Solid.
For those wondering, Kyosuke cut Miayandroid's leg, causing her to fall back onto her missile pack, causing the explosion.
You cannot know how fucking happy I am that we got to know their forbidden actions.
That being said, this brings up the question of did Miayandroid have a forbidden action? Did Monaca? She has a bracelet on the robot, right? Was there no forbidden action and it was just for show?
In this shot, we can see that Miayandroid is all RIGHT now.
Opening death EXACTLY. Love that.
What's with Ryota in this scene? He was praising Makoto earlier and wanted to be like him, now he doubts her can help? And why clench his fist when Kyoko talks about him?
I don't know what's better. The Naegiri moment, Makoto blushing, Hina smiling and that little laugh she did, or Kyoko just turning and coughing to change topics.
Kyoko, man. I love her. That little moment was pure character. It shows how much Kyoko cares for Makoto, and even though she stays serious most of the time, she still can get flustered at times.
And the ramen cup is back. DR3 should be renamed "Kill all the new guys and throwback to everything remotely DR: Electric Murderloo"
Does that mean the theme of the two arcs is the past? Cause the Despair arc is pretty much themed about the past, but can something called the Future arc really be all about the past? From the Class 76 flashbacks, to Koichi's flashbacks, to the throwbacks to Ultra Despair Girls, to DR1 references. This anime really gives us everything we want while giving us everything we don't want at the same time.
And here, you'll find four wild cinnamon rolls in their natural habitat. Observe how they share their food supply with one another, demonstrating how much of a cinnamon roll they each are by sharing. Take note of the ahoged male cinnamon roll and the purple-haired female cinnamon roll. Notice how they show signs of attraction to one another. Be sure to come back for next week's episode of "Danganronpa In The Wild"! Next week, we shall see the ahoged male and the purple-haired female display the mating rituals of the cinnamon roll species, which includes cuddling, hand holding, kisses on the cheek, and kinky hot sex alone together in a bed.
Byakuya better not die. If he's dead, that means that that random guy that worked for him killed him. Everyone blame that guy if he's dead. If you want to hang someone up by their testicles for killing the esteemed Byakuya Togami, then do it that guy. Or Kodaka, whichever one you can get to first.
I thought Kyoko was gonna slap Makoto for a second there. Like, she was gonna slap him and talk some sense into him, like Chisa did to Nagito in Despair 4, or Chiaki did to Akane in SDR2.
Here, we see that the purple-haired cinnamon roll made the first move.
Okay guys, all together now! "MAKE! OUT! ALREADY!"
The transition is still black. Damn.
Juzo is clearly scared of Kyosuke. Everything about the conversations between the two in this episode scream "Juzo, run. Run far, far away."
Okay, before everyone jumps the gun and yells "JUZO WAS ABOUT TO CONFESS TO KYOSUKE!" I'd like to say something.
There are 3 possible things, that I can see, that Juzo was going to say.
1. That, like Chisa, he also loved Kyosuke.
2. That, like Kyosuke, he also loved Chisa.
3. That he killed Chisa in the first part of the game.
Any other ideas? I welcome any guesses, and if there are any worth much merit, I'll talk about them next Info Dump. Or next Future episode, if it isn't too big.
Though, I think that number 3 is the most likely out of them, because I feel like this is a SUPER weird and awkward time to tell someone you love them. "Hey man, I know that a lot of our friends are dead, you killed a man, you lost an eye, you lost your girlfriend, and you are probably going insane, but I love you, man."
And, much like Great Gozu, Juzo dies right after everyone was starting to like him.
To be honest, I don't hate Juzo anymore. He was a bit dickish earlier, but I can see how he made the mistakes he made, and that he had good intentions. A certain PokemonRio probably agrees with me on this.
For those comparing Juzo to Mondo, there's another similarity. Kyosuke's sword went clean through, like a knife through butter.
"You know why"... Fuck you.
To quote CinemaSins, "This isn't the pronoun game, but it's a close relative".
We are not going to get an answer, and I think nobody really knows, but we'll find out in a later episode.
For someone claiming to be hope, you sure say and blame things on despair a lot.
So, didn't he call Makoto "Despair" last episode? He said something like "There you are, Despair..." And he didn't mean Miayandroid because she wasn't in the room yet. And I doubt he meant Hina, because he seemed must more antagonistic towards Makoto.
If that's the case, though, how the fuck did Makoto make you kill Juzo? Or are you blaming it literally on "Despair", the thing Junko gets turned on by the most and that you have truly seen. You just want any excuse for your actions at this point, don't you?
Don't get me wrong, I really like Kyosuke's character. It is so complex and intriguing and unique. Though he looks like Yu Narukami and now Kaneki Ken, I think that Kyosuke Munakata is a true Danganronpa character. He can't be in anything else but Danganronpa. He was made for this series, and I commend Kodaka for making such a deep character.
Something about this doodle makes me laugh. Just how cute and happy and innocent all these people are.
Also, Hina's the only living person in this shot of the doodle.
So, I assume that they found out Gozu and Seiko's forbidden actions from when Kyoko examined their bodies? She probably looked at their bracelets, right? And they don't know Kazuo's because he didn't tell them and they didn't look at his body. Okay, I like how they know only what they should know! Very consistent!
This also is 100% proof that Ruruka figured out Seiko's code, in case anyone doubted it.
Ryota... Please don't be the mastermind or traitor... You're looking very suspicious. That or this bit here where he says he "can't keep it" is just his usual behavior of thinking he can't help or save people.
Wait, didn't Kyosuke turn and walk away from Juzo's body? Shouldn't he have encountered Ruruka?
Also, when she says "He deserved to die", is she referring to Juzo because he died, or to Kyosuke because she thought he needed to?
I don't know whether to scream about my ship being confirmed 100% canon, cry about how sad this scene is, or throw my IPad across the room because now the ship is dead.
Okay, I'm going to ramble about this scene for a bit. Not in a shippy way, but in an analysis/character way. So if you like Ruruka, are a member of the Ruruka Ando Protection Squad like me, want to see a more detailed look on this event, or you just like hearing me talk, then pull up a chair and a snack, cause boy is there a lot to say.
First, this drastically changes Ruruka's character. We all thought she betrayed Sonosuke in possibly cold blood, and she's a bitch for it. That is not the case.
Look how upset she is. She genuinely loved him, and knew it wasn't right to kill him. In fact, she killed him BECAUSE she loved him so much. She couldn't handle the possibility of the man she loved betraying her, so she killed him. And he understood!
He even gave her a final kiss goodbye.
Also, this proves that Ruruka hasn't been drugging Sonosuke! He also truly and genuinely loved her, and also love her dewicious sweets. Sonosuke is so awesome and sweet and deserved better.
Also, consider this. Ruruka did that so Sonosuke wouldn't betray her by going through the the Monokuma door. Imagine how she felt when Juzo opened the door and she saw that it wasn't an exit. She realized that Sonosuke died for nothing. Imagine how heartbroken she must have felt.
Let's summarize what we learned. Ruruka and Sonosuke loved each other, genuinely, by their own free will, with no other influence. Ruruka has a large fear of betrayal, and was terrified of the possibility that the man she loved would betray her, so she killed him. Sonosuke understood, giving Ruruka a final kiss goodbye.
Ruruka Ando is not a bitch. She may have had a rough friendship with Seiko due to some misunderstandings, but she did trust her, too. Ruruka is a great character. Sonosuke is a great character. Izando isn't a great ship. Seiko is a great character. They all didn't deserve it. Now, let's get back to the episode.
Was Ruruka trying to barricade that door? What's with the rock?
Now, this shows even MORE about Ruruka's character. She knows that she will be the attacker's next victim. She knows she's about to die, and is crying about having to face it. But she still says what she says. She wants to refuse her fate, but she knows inside that she can't. She is scared. She is terrified. But that's what she is. Human. She may appear cold and harsh on the outside, but she really is a caring, insecure person who fears betrayal and loves Sonosuke. I'm commending Kodaka on creating another deep character, and for all the reasons I've discussed in this chapter, I'm putting Ruruka Ando as one of my favorite characters from the Future Foundation.
And of course, she's dead. I forget who, but someone I know said she looked like she was waterboarded with candy.
Well, there goes my sanity, heart, emotions, hope, feelings, insides, and everything else.
FUCK YOU KODAKA!
HOW DARE YOU KILL DETECTIVE WAIFU!!!!
Once again, I apologize to MarissaMelody. This time, your favorite character died pretty much right after you got into the fandom. I'm sorry for causing you this despair.
That being said, maybe she's not dead.
Exhibit A - Her hot legs
Just kidding. I mean her left leg. There is no poison anywhere on it. Now, the three who died to forbidden actions all wore long pants, so there is no way to confirm that the poison spreads to a person's legs, but I say it's highly likely if the whole "Human looks like Monokuma" resemblance wants to be complete.
Exhibit B - The mystery bottle
Credit to kingofmongels on tumblr for this picture to demonstrate what I mean.
They wouldn't put such a minor detail in if it wasn't important. Plus, this may have been the same drug Seiko used to try to save Daisaku, so it may have worked.
Exhibit C - Monokuma
Way back in Future 1, Monokuma said "If it happened twice, it'll happen three times!" Hina's fake death in Future 2, Kyoko's fake death in Makoto's dream, and now this. Could this be a third troll?
Also, her notebook is under her.
There it is. WHAT DOES IT MEAN!?
Then the episode ends.
Before the chapter ends, I'd like to show you something long overdue.
Credit to doodlede88 for giving me one of the coolest aspects of the DR games. I seriously loved seeing the characters at the end of every chapter, and I was sad that it wasn't included in the anime. But, this is so well done and really fits the atmosphere of the anime! I love this, and I'll be posting all of them once the anime is finished in a special chapter. But seriously, how cool is this picture, right!?
And that's the end.
That's the end of the chapter about the episode where 4 people died. Or 3 if you don't count Miayandroid, but I do.
Hope you guys enjoyed this, cause I sure put a lot of effort into this one. Nearly 2,500 words.
This is Emerald-kun, signing out! Peace!
