I woke up in what seems to be a hospital room on a hospital bed.

Sora: Hm?

I stood up rubbing my head.

The last thing I remember was getting stabbed, so where am I now?

Strawberry: Oh, you're awake.

I turned my head to see someone sitting beside me. She seemed relieved that I'm alright.

Sora: Oh, you're um... Strawberry right?

Strawberry: Yeah. Are you okay? You were hit pretty hard.

Sora: Yeah, I'm fine. But um... where am I?

Strawberry: You're in a medical room on the ship. After you saved me, that Mononeko cat started freaking out and scolded the guy who stabbed you.

Sora: I see. I'm guessing you're the one who patched me up then?

Strawberry: No, that was the same guy.

Sora: Huh?

Strawberry: Yeah, something about attacking you was a mistake and treating you was an apology. I guess even guys like that can have a weird code of honor.

Sora: I see...

Strawberry: Still, you had me worried sick. I thought you'd never wake up.

Sora: What do you mean?

Strawberry: Well you've been knocked out all day. It's already midnight.

Sora: All day?!

Strawberry: Yeah. Everyone else has already begun exploring the island. The ship too. They're probably in the dining hall of the ship by now going over what they found.

Sora: And you stayed?

Strawberry: W-Well it's not like I wanted to stay here. I honestly wasn't in any serious danger since I had a healing factor. But since you did help me, I thought that I would at least make sure you were alright.

Sora: If you say so...

Strawberry: Anyway, head to the dining hall once you start to feel better. The rest of us will be waiting on you there.

After saying all that, Strawberry got up and left.

Despite being stabbed, I don't feel any pain. At least not anymore.

Maybe I should go thank that guy for patching me up. Then again, he is the one who stabbed me in the first place.

I got up and stepped out the room. On my way I ended up bumping into the guy that stabbed me.

Shady guy: Oh, it's you. Looks like you're alright.

Sora: ... ... ...

Shady Guy: No need to be so wary. I'm actually here to apologize. Not that I can do anything anyway. That Mononeko chick has her eyes on me.

Sora: Right... Strawberry did say you patched my wounds. What are you up to?

Shady Guy: Nothing honestly. Just patched you up as an apology.

Sora: Right...

Shady Guy: Hey, what's with that face? You look like you don't believe me.

Sora: Was it that obvious?

Shady Guy: Look, I may be a piece of trash, but even a piece of trash has to have some morals right? If there's a victim beyond what I intended, then I should at least take responsibility, y'know. But it's not like I need to explain every little detail of my beliefs to you, right?

Sora: ... ... ...

Shady Guy: I was just stopping by to see how the treatment went. And looks like you're doing just fine, so are we even now?

Sora: You really think it's that easy after you stabbed me?

He let out a deep sigh

Shady Guy: What a drag. You're looking to bargain with me huh? You've got some guts, you know that? Fine, what do you want?

Sora: You completely ignored me back when I asked your name. If you really are sorry, you would give me your full name, then all might be forgiven.

Shady guy: Hey, you're gonna have to learn a thing or two about bargaining. Talk about unequal exchange... is what I want to say, but I don't care if it's just that. Fine, the name's Seiketsu. In a situation like this, it'd get out even if I tried to hide it. Especially with that idiot on the loose.

Sora: That idiot?

Seiketsu: Anyway, we're done here, right? Now that we've fulfilled both ends of the bargain, we can stop talking to each other.

Sora: You're leaving? Everyone's meeting at the dining hall to compile information gathered from exploring the island.

Seiketsu: I'm better off exploring on my own than talking to you bunch.

Sora: Well, not like I wanted to keep talking to someone who could stab me without batting an eye anyway.

Seiketsu: Nice to see you're a fast learner. Here's a bonus piece of advice. Although the wound isn't all that deep, it could still open up again, so take it easy. Oh yeah, speaking of wounds...

Sora: ... Hm?

Seiketsu: ... Nah, it's nothing. It isn't like me to chatter so much. Go ahead and take a load off.

After saying that, he walked right past me and left.

Seiketsu... I can't get a read on him at all. Still, it's good that we could do proper introductions at least. Now, time to get to the Dining Hall.

After that talk, I wondered around the ship for a bit. It was a lot bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. Eventually I made it to the Dining Hall where almost everyone was already gathered.

Frostwing: Oh, you're awake. Good.

Strawberry: See? I told you.

I looked around at everyone else.

Sora: Is this... everyone?

Mia: Well, no. That Kanzen guy who called himself the Mastermind. He's nowhere to be seen.

Artoria: Nor is that idiot, Satoka, or his friend who stabbed you.

Sora: Hm? Satoka and Seiketsu know each other?

Artoria: Apparently so. Wait, Seiketsu? Is that the guys name?

Sora: Yeah. After patching me up, I managed to get a name out of him.

Crimson: Still, to patch you up after stabbing you is kinda...

Frostwing:I'm sure it's fine. Right now, let's focus on what we all discovered about this island and our current situation.

Mia: Eve and I will go first since we investigated this ship.

Eve: It is super big ship! 16 rooms, Dining room, kitchen, and nurse room!

Mia: Each room is soundproof too. I don't know about everyone else but... the rooms given to Eve and I are oddly identical to our rooms at home. It's kinda creepy.

Strawberry: I went into my room too. I can say the same.

Anna: Yeah, it's kinda weird. How much does this Mastermind know about us?

Prix: Well was there anything important found?

Eve: Oh! Eve found the control room! But she couldn't break in even with her immense strength. She also found a big red door that gave creepy vibes.

Frostwing: Aside from the door, the control room may be important. We should keep a close eye on it just in case. Anything else?

Crimson: I checked out the airport again. Double checked each plane but as I thought, none of them work.

Kotone: So flying off the island is a no-go. Hey Frostwing, aren't you like a Saiyan or something? Can't you fly off the island and get help?

Frostwing: I could if I tried but for some reason that cat stops me on every turn.

Alicia: Is that even possible? A cat that can stop a Saiyan from flyin'?

Frostwing: I was surprised myself, in all honesty. But it seems there are rules on this island and she's built to do whatever it takes to enforce them.

Sora: I see. What a strange creature.

Angel: Prix and I went to the Rocketpunch Market place! It was huge with everything you could ever want!

Prix: Yeah, but sadly there was no clue of where we are or how we could escape.

Alicia: Well somethin' is better than nothin'. Chris and I went to that lil barn and it was nothin' out of the ordinary.

Chris: There were animals, but they seem to have only been brought in recently.

Artoria: Well, Kotone, Anna, and I went to check out the Hotel. There were 16 cabins but those cabins were completely empty.

Anna: The Hotel lobby had a bunch of arcade games and there was a kitchen upstairs. Also there was a pool, but I doubt anyone would want to swim in this situation.

Kotone: There's also an old building beside the Hotel but according to Mononeko, it's still under construction...

Sora: Is that everything about the island?

Frostwing: So far, yes. But it doesn't look like we'll be leaving this island in a day or so.

Artoria: It sucks but I'm going to have to agree. With no knowledge of where we are nor what's to come, we may need to start over tomorrow.

Angel: So what now?

Frostwing: Well for starters, let's look into the rules. It would be careless to explore the island without knowing a single thing right?

Sora: Right...

We all took out our E-Handbooks, opening the rules on the tablet.

Rules:

1. Nighttime is from 10pm to 7am, during this time the Monocruise will be locked and you will not be able to leave.

2. Extreme violence is prohibited on this island. Please live peaceful and relaxing lives with your fellow students.

3. Littering is not allowed. Let us coexist with this island's bountiful nature in "mutual prosperity".

4. The E-Handbook is limited to one per person and can only be operated by fingerprint. If it is carelessly lost then you will be punished.

5. Flying outside the island perimeters is forbidden and doing so will be punished accordingly

6. The lead teacher cannot directly interfere with the students. An exception to this rule is made if any student violates a rule.

7. Once a murder takes place, a class trial will begin shortly thereafter. Participation is mandatory for all surviving students.

8. If the blackened is exposed during the class trial, they alone will be executed.

9. If the blackened is not exposed, the remaining students will be executed.

10. As a reward, the surviving blackened will be forgiven of their crime and allowed to leave the island.

11. The Body Discovery Announcement will play as soon as three or more people discover a body for the first time.

12. Destroying any property of this island without permission is expressly prohibited. This includes the surveillance cameras and monitors. Violence against Monokuma or Mononeko is also prohibited

13. You are free to investigate this island at your own discretion. Your actions in this regard are not limited.

14. Additional School Trip Rules may be added at the headmaster's discretion.

I looked up from the rules and toward everyone else.

Sora: So these must be the rules of this island.

Alicia: Everything seems alright... up until we get to the killin' game.

Mia: So if someone kills another student and wins the game... they can leave while sacrificing everyone else. That notion is... pretty screwed up.

Anna: Still, we should be fine so long as none of us kill each other right?

Chris: I wouldn't be so sure about that...

Anna: Hm?

Chris: It's pretty obvious that none of us would kill each other. At least not without motive. Chances are that the ones in charge of this game might end up giving us a reason to kill in the off chance that nothing happens.

Mia: You mean they probably have motives lined up to make us want to kill? That's... even more messed up.

Frostwing: For now, all we can do is be careful not to break anymore rules. So far, both Seiketsu and I have both been issued warnings. Me for attempting to fly off the island and Seiketsu for stabbing Sora. I doubt those in charge will be so kind next time.

Sora: Someone like Seiketsu doesn't seem like the type of person who would lash out without reason. It's very likely he was testing the waters, especially since he didn't go for a killing blow. I highly doubt he would act carelessly again... I think.

Crimson: Really? You think?

Artoria: Well now that we've all read the rules, it would take a complete idiot to try and test the waters a third-

Just as she was about to finish what she was saying, a massive explosion was heard outside.

Angel: W-W-What was that?!

Frostwing: It came from outside! Let's go!

We hurried toward the entrance of the ship and looked outside. It was storming like crazy as Kanzen was standing there surrounded by fire and with a fireball in his hand. In front of him, Satoka was on one knee, smoke steaming out of his body.

Prix: Is that Satoka?

Artoria: That idiot! Is he trying to get himself killed?!

The mastermind let out an unsettling chuckle.

Kanzen: I must say, you were quite strong. But alas, your efforts were for not.

Satoka: Tch! I don't get it. Why can't I hit you?!

Kanzen: It's nothing against you my boy, it's just that my power is far greater than your little weather manipulation. It's like a street punk picking a fight with a terminator in comparison. In other words, you and I are on completely different levels. Do you understand? Now die!

He held out his hand and was about to fire a fireball, but before he could, the weather went back to being clear and Kanzen's fire was immediately put out. Mononeko then jumped off the ship and landed between the two of them.

Mononeko: Come on! What the heck are you two doing?!

Satoka: Hm? I'm just trying to get rid of the Mastermind.

Mononeko: Did you even learn from Seiketsu?! Extreme violence is prohibited! Read the rules!

Satoka: Huh? There were rules?

She then turned to Kanzen.

Mononeko: And why are you encouraging this?! You're a part of the killing game. You need to obey the rules just like everyone else!

Kanzen: I was just trying to get rid of the Mastermind...

Mononeko: You are the Mastermind!

Kanzen: Oh right, I am aren't I?

Mononeko takes a deep breath, clearly trying not to get too angry at the two.

Ding Dong! Bing Bong!

Before she could say anything, Monokuma appeared on the intercom.

Monokuma: "Ahem, attention! You dear Headmaster has an announcement to make! It is now 10pm. Please return to your rooms and relax. Let the sound of the ocean gently rock you to sleep. Now then, sweet dreams everyone. Good niiiiight."

Mononeko let out another sigh.

Mononeko: Alright this is the final warning. No more rule breakers from here on out or there will be consequences.

Frostwing: Looks like we'll need to finish our little meeting tomorrow.

Artoria: Right. Let's get inside before they lock the place up.

Sora: Right.

We got back into the ship. Everyone got inside and went into their respective rooms.

I stepped into mine and turned on the lights. It was a pretty plain looking room. There was a teddy bear on the bed and paper stars hanging on the ceiling.

Everyone said their rooms resembled what they were back at their respective homes. I wonder... is this what my room looked like? It seems a bit childish yet... oddly comforting.

Sora: Honestly... just what type of person was I?

Ding Dong

As I sat deep in thought, the doorbell in front of me rang.

Sora: Hm?

I sat up and went to open the door, only to find Mononeko standing in front of me.

Sora: You? What do you want?

Mononeko: I came to check on you. May I come in?

Sora: No.

Mononeko: S-Such hostility.

Sora: What exactly were expecting?

Mononeko: I-... well I guess you have a point there.

I took a deep breath and sighed.

Sora: If I let you in, would you answer all my questions?

Mononeko: Yes!

Sora: ... Fine. Come on in then.

I sat on my bed with my legs crossed as Mononeko happily walked inside.

Mononeko: Alright, ask away.

Sora: Let's start with the obvious. What is this island?

Mononeko: Jabberock Island. It's a popular resort destination but nobody really comes here anymore.

Sora: That so? And what's your goal in all this?

Mononeko: To maintain the rules of the island.

Sora: What I mean is, why are you putting us all in a killing game?

Mononeko: ... That I don't have the answer to.

Sora: What do you mean?

Mononeko: To tell you the truth, I'm an entity separate from Monokuma and Kanzen. I woke up on this island with no memory of who I am. All I knew was that I needed to make sure the rules were followed.

Sora: Do you at least know who made you?

Mononeko: I have... vague memories of my mother but that's about it. Everything else is blurry.

Sora: Fine, well if this is all true, why are you going through with this killing game? Can't you just say no?

Mononeko: There are rules that you must follow as students but there are also hidden rules that I must follow. In this Class Trip, I am the teacher but Monokuma is the Principal. Even if I wanted to, I cannot defy Monokuma's commands. Not unless it requires me to break a rule at least.

Sora: So in other words... you're in the same situation as us. Then answer me this, do you know everyone in the school? If so, then do you know who I am?

Mononeko: That would be another no... I'm sorry but I actually don't know anything about you, or anyone else for that matter. I'm honestly just as clueless as you.

Sora: Man, for a teacher you sure do suck at teaching...

Mononeko: Sorry...

Mononeko looked down with sad eyes. It didn't look like she was lying though. I let out another sigh.

Sora: So, where will you be sleeping?

Mononeko: Oh, probably on the couch in the lobby of the ship. I don't know where Monokuma is sleeping but I refuse to share a room with him or Kanzen.

Sora: I see... well why not share one with me?

Mononeko: Huh? Really?!

Honestly, what am I even doing? Well I guess it's better to keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Besides, she does seem happy.

Mononeko: Thank you so much! I'll make it up to you somehow! Oh! I got it!

Sora: Hm?

Mononeko: It's not going to be easy but... what if I tried to help you get your memories back?

Sora: Hm? You really think that's possible?

Mononeko: It's not impossible. But it is going to be difficult. In exchange though... um... could you help me get mine back too?

Sora: Your memory?

Mononeko: I know I had a life before coming to this island. I just can't remember. Was I always a cat? Who was my mom? And most importantly... who am I?

Sora: ... ... ...

I see... so she's in the same boat I am.

Sora: ... Well... I guess it wouldn't hurt to try. Fine, I'll help you if you help me. Deal?

Mononeko: Deal!

I couldn't tell from her face. Was she smiling? Well technically she's always smiling. But I wonder if this cat has more emotion than I originally thought.

In the end, I let her stay in my room. I somehow slept peacefully that night.

I woke up to the sound of the intercom as Monokuma appeared onscreen.

Monokuma: "Ahem... your precious Headmaster has an announcement to make. Goooood morning everyone! Looks like today is gonna be another perfect, tropical day! Now then, let's show some enthusiasm and make sure to give it our all today!"

The intercom turned off as Mononeko yawned in my lap. Looks like she was sleeping peacefully.

Mononeko: Mmm... good morning...

Sora: Morning... looks like you slept well.

Knock! Knock!

Sora: Hm?

After hearing someone knocking at the door, I got up to see who it was. Once I did, I saw Kotone standing in front of me.

Sora: Kotone? Is there something you need?

Kotone: Not really. Artoria's gathering everyone into the dining hall. I'll see you there.

I nod and she walks away.

Sora: I guess it's off to the dining hall. Let's go Neko.

Mononeko: Hm? Neko?

Sora: A nickname. Don't like it?

Mononeko: I don't mind one. It's the first someone gave me a nickname I think.

She hopped on my shoulder and we left for the Dining Hall. Once we got there, everyone else was already meeting up. Including Satoka.

Sora: Hm? Satoka, you're here too?

Kotone: I'm the one who brought him. Didn't want another situation like last time.

Satoka: I only came 'cause Seiketsu said I needed to "stay out of trouble".

Sora: That so?

Sounds like after last night, both Kotone and Seiketsu have Satoka on a leash.

Sora: So Artoria, what did you want to discuss?

Artoria: Right, after some thinking last night, I've come to the conclusion that the best way to prevent a killing is to try and stay united. So, a leader is required to keep us together.

Angel: A leader?

Crimson: And you're appointing yourself?

Artoria: No. I'm appointing Frostwing.

Frostwing: Huh? Me?

Artoria: Yeah. I think you're much more suitable for a leader.

Frostwing: I don't mean to be rude, but wouldn't you be better suited? You are King Arthur after all.

Artoria: Well, let's get one thing out of the way. I lost my memory of my life as King Arthur. And even then, King Arthur wasn't exactly the best person given the stories I've heard. I'm more of a reincarnated version of her who still has some of her personality traits and powers.

Satoka: Wait, a woman can be a king?

Artoria: And I'll pretend I didn't hear that. But don't worry, I'll work hard as second-in-command in case anything happens. Any objections?

Crimson: None here.

Alicia: None here either, right Chris?

Chris: Yeah...

Angel: So Frostwing is the leader?

Prix: Seems like it.

Anna: If the cute king says it, then I guess we can trust it!

Artoria: Oh um thanks?

Strawberry: Still, did you have to go all out with the feast?

Strawberry pointed at all the food sitting at the table.

Artoria: Hm? I didn't make this.

Sora: Huh? Then who did?

Kanzen: That would be me~!

Sora: ... Besties?

Kanzen: Yeah. You know, friends? Like the song! F is for-

Sora: I rather die.

Kanzen: Ouch! That one stung!

Strawberry: Face it, nobody will be dumb enough to eat your terrible food.

Satoka: Actually it's not half bad.

We look to see Satoka already eating.

Strawberry: Wha- Satoka! You can't just eat that carelessly! What if it's dangerous?!

Satoka: Huh? But they're eating too.

He pointed to Artoria and Kotone stuffing their faces.

Artoria: Mmm... A good burger in the morning does wonders~!

Kotone: I know right? Oh could you pass the salt?

Strawberry: You too?! Frostwing, say something! You're our leader!

Frostwing was also eating lots of food.

Frostwing: Hm? Oh don't worry, the food seems perfectly edible.

Strawberry: Ugh...

I place a hand on her shoulder.

Sora: As they say... If you can't beat them, join them... I think.

In the end, we all ended up eating the Masterminds food together, along with the Mastermind himself. Angel and Eve were feeding and petting Mononeko.

Kanzen: See? I may be the Mastermind but I'm not all bad.

Sora: Making good food doesn't make you special

Kanzen: So harsh. You hate me that much? You seem to trust Mononeko already.

Sora: We're using each other for our own gain. It's not a friendship but a temporary alliance. In the meantime you put us in a killing game. For all I know you'd be the first to kill.

Frostwing: Temporary alliance? So you think she can be trusted?

Sora: Not at all. But I don't think she'll tell any unnecessary lies.

Frostwing: Hmm... Then Mononeko, about last night. You were able to nullify the power of both Kanzen and Satoka right?

Mononeko: Hm? Yep. Both me and Monokuma can nullify any of your powers in the event that you break a rule. That way no healing factors or aura shields can get in the way of proper punishment.

Strawberry: I see.

Crimson: Well that kinda sucks.

Anna: Not like any of us will kill each other anyway.

Chris: Actually, there's something I'd like to ask Kanzen in regards to that.

Kanzen: Oh? You want to talk to me? Could it be that I'm getting through to one of my beloved class-

Chris: No.

Sora: Go burn in hell...

Kanzen: Ouch times three!

Chris: You're the Mastermind of this killing game, yet you don't seem to mind us bonding together. In fact, you seem to want in on it. Wouldn't that hurt your plans for the killing game? You need a motive to kill and aside from wanting to leave the island, you haven't exactly given us a good reason to participate in your game. Is there something you're planning?

Kanzen: Motive for killing? You don't need to worry about that. I designed this particular killing game so that a murder will occur without a motive needed.

Chris: This particular one? Are you saying you've done this before?

Kanzen: Upupupupu... I can't say too much now can I?

Frostwing: There is another thing that I want to talk with Mononeko about. Though I don't think now is a good time. Mononeko, do you mind meeting up with me in the lobby later tonight?

Mononeko: Hm? Um sure I don't mind.

After a little more small talk, we all finished our breakfast and went our separate ways. Mononeko and I came back to my room.

Mononeko: Frostwing wants to meet tonight. Since I'm a teacher I don't exactly want to say no. Still I can't say I'm not a little bit nervous.

Sora: I didn't know a robot could get nervous.

Mononeko: Hm? I can't. I'm a machine void of emotions.

Sora: Right...

Mononeko: Still um... do you mind coming with me? Just in case?

She's definitely nervous...

Sora: Fine. I can't say I'm not a little bit curious too.

Mononeko: Great!

Sora: For now, I'm going to go chat with some people. I have nothing better to do so I might as well get to know everyone here. You stay here though.

Mononeko: Sure! Feels weird for a student ordering a teacher around, but this is your room so I don't mind.

Sora: Good.

I left my room, leaving her alone.

Sora: Now who should I hang out with today?

Sora: Not at all. This is just a test for the free time events. I highly doubt anyone would actually want to hang out with you by choice.

Kanzen: Man, you really do hate me, do you?

Sora: I may have lost all my memories but I'm not stupid. I know making friends with someone like you will only cause trouble.

Kanzen: Are you sure about that? Who knows, I may be able to reveal something about your memories~

Sora: ... And what would that be?

Kanzen: Guess you'll have to hang out with me more and find out! Ohohoho~

*After saying that, Kanzen left.*

After wasting my time with him, I went back to my room. Mononeko stood up from my bed.

Mononeko: Oh! You're back!

I look to see the intercom turn on and Monokuma appear on screen.

Monokuma: "Ladies and gentlemen, it is now 10 pm. Time to rest up and get some sleep. And hopefully not find a corpse in the days to come~. Good night! Sleep tight! Don't let the bedbugs bite!"

The intercoms turned off and I looked at Mononeko.

Sora: Looks like it's time to meet with Frostwing.

Mononeko: Yep! Let's go!

We left my room and went straight to the lobby. Frostwing was sitting on the couch of the Lobby waiting for us.

Frostwing: Ah, there you are. And I see you're here too, Sora?

Sora: Only because she asked... and because I'm a bit curious.

Mononeko: So, what do you need to ask me?

Frostwing: Well I've been searching the ship for a while and I believe I found something... unusual.

Mononeko: Hm?

Frostwing stood up, he removed a clock from the wall and revealed what was behind it.

Mononeko: Huh?

Sora: A countdown? Is that... a bomb?

Mononeko: Doubtful. If Monokuma wanted to kill you that bad, there wouldn't be a need for the killing game to begin with.
