Chapter 9: Morning Meeting

-Third Person P. O. V.-

The next morning, the hostages awoke to what will soon be familiar chime of the bell.

Ding dong, bing bong

This time, instead of Monaca, Masaru was the one on the screen.

"Good morning, stupid demons! It's now 7 a.m. and nighttime is now over! Time to to get up, you dumb demons! Get ready to face another incredible day!"

The video cut out as the hostages grumbled awake.

As each of them left their rooms and headed towards the dining hall, two people took detours.

Kenshiro opened Cheri's room and carried him off to the dining hall. Hiroko did the same for Kameko's jar, which was placed on the table inside his room.

As everyone ate their breakfast, quietly smiling at each other's company, they all were surprised that Takemichi showed up. They were glad he did though, even though he did sit at a different table, distancing himself from the group.

After everyone arrived and was able to enjoy a few minutes of eating, Takaaki stood up.

"Alright. I thank you all for coming to the first daily morning meeting! I hereby call that meeting to order!" He shouted at the now quiet dining hall.

All eyes were on him as he cleared his throat. "First order of business is our initial investigation of this place. We all separated and explored different parts of this school. We will now share what we discovered. I'll go first, if that's alright, Hiroko."

The woman nodded, putting her feet on the table. "Knock yourself out, Kiki."

The man nodded firmly, deciding to allow feet on the table. "Thank you. Hiroko and I, and I guess Kameko as well, investigated the area called the playground on the map in our handbooks. There was a set of double doors that led out to a small area outside. Before you ask, there was no way out. There was a metal fence that fenced the entire area off, all the way from the ground to the third floor window. We couldn't see outside, because there were heavy tarps covering the fences. The only light was coming from a light fixture attached to the top of the fence structure. There was a swing set directly below the windows, next to the doors on the ground, as well as another set of swings, this time just in the middle of the yard. There wasn't anything of interest asides from the swings. The fences were very stable, no way to knock them down. We can't get out that way. We did find a coin on one of the swings. Hiroko had two, so she let me have it."

"Says you." The woman said. "You snatched that thing up like it was evidence for a murder."

Komaru spoke up "Speaking of coins, Yuta and I fou-"

"Be quiet!" Takaaki yelled. "Please wait for your report."

Komaru closed her mouth, a bit sad.

Everyone was quiet as the policeman cleared his throat again. "Okay. Who would like to go next?"

"I'd like to report." Fuhito said, standing up.

Takaaki sat down, letting the older man have the floor.

"I went to look at the suspicious room labeled with the bear head." He began. "The room had a large red door leading to it. Unfortunately, it was locked tight, so I decided to look elsewhere. The nurse's office was also locked, which is why is wasn't on the map. So, I decided to look through the two classrooms. I remember waking up in there, so I assume that we all did at some point. There was nothing there, except for a coin that was identical to one I found in my room."

Komaru and Yuta remained silent.

"I say we should go next." Kanon said, pulling Ayaka up with her. The latter of which seemed a bit shy about it.

"You have the floor, young ladies." Fuhito said, taking his seat again.

Kanon bounced on her heel. "Okay! So, Ayaka and Fujiko and I took a look around the hotel. We did a test, and can confirm that only your own room key can open your room. Also, none of our keys can open the spare room."

"Speaking of the rooms, I got the worst one!" Fujiko interjected. "Why do I have the one farthest away from everyone!? I'm pushed back behind the animals AND an empty room! This is so unfair..."

"Anyway..." Kanon continued. "There were also the bathrooms. Men and women. Or I guess, boys and girls for an elementary school. Though, the girls' room was sparkling clean! Speaking of the girls' room, I found a coin in the sink. Also, we had to swipe our handbook on a thing outside the door to open it. So I guess that means boys only in the boys' room and girls only in the girls'. That's disappointing. I wanted to do the classic bathroom sex trope with Take..."

"That's not fucking happening ever." Takemichi shouted.

"But, there wasn't much else." Kanon casually continued. "There was a bathhouse, but there was yellow tape all over it, so I guess we can't go in. And the end of a hall was a staircase going up, but that was blocked by a gate, so no going up there for now, I guess. There was also a storage room full of junk. There were a few coins in there, so we split them up equally."

"My turn. Sit the fuck down." Takemichi said, obviously annoyed.

Kanon obediently sat down, giving the boy a quick wink.

"I went back to the entrance hall. I pounded on that fucking door with all I had, and nothing. It didn't move shit."

"I told you, Tata." Hiroko gloated.

"Shut up. Anyway, I took a closer look at the door and noticed something. There was a screen next to the door, which seems like the only way to open it. The only problem is that is needs five fucking passwords to open it." Takemichi continued. "I thought it was useless just beating on that door the whole time, so I went to the gym. Before the gym was a small room with a trophy case. Boring shit. In the gym, there were a few balls lying around, and a stage with a podium on it. Useless shitty room."

"Okay, that's enough out of you. Aloysius, share your findings, please." Takaaki said, speaking over the  boy.

Takemichi sat down as the old butler stood up.

"I took a thorough look of the trash room in order to affirm that it would be suitable for disposing of Master Byakuya's garbage. There was a large gate blocking the room, but I found a key to it, saying it is for the janitor. I shall take that duty. Behind the gate was an incinerator capable of burning all matters of trash, and a dumpster, perhaps for larger things, next to it. There was a coin inside the dumpster, which I pocketed, waiting to give it to Master Byakuya once I am able to return to him." He spoke calmly, almost as if he wasn't aware that he was being held hostage and the only way to escape was getting away with murder.

"I-I guess that leaves us.." Taichi said. "U-Unless you want to go next, Komaru."

The girl shook her head. "No, we'll go last. Go ahead, Taichi."

Kenshiro, holding the cat, and Taichi stood up. Though, only the former spoke.

"Taichi and I went back to the AV room while watching Cheri here. There wasn't anything in there, aside from a coin. We wandered up and down the halls of the school and found a stairway leading upstairs, but it was blocked off by a metal gate."

"Seems like we are restrained to the first floor for now." Takaaki said. "Oh, sorry. Komaru and Yuta, what did you two find? I'm sorry for yelling earlier."

The two kids stood up and explained what they discovered about the MonoMono Machine and the monocoins, using the instructions and present list to help the group understand.

"So, I guess we can get things to decorate our rooms or collect or whatever." Kanon said aloud.

"Yes. I'll allow anyone to use the MonoMono Machine whenever they like. But, they must not hide what they get if deemed suspicious. Yuta, give me the list."

Yuta gave the present list to the policeman.

"I adjourn the morning meeting." Takaaki bowed quickly, then left the dining hall.

One by one, each person left the dining hall.

-Komaru P. O. V.-

After breakfast and the morning meeting, I found myself in my room.

"Looks like I've got some free time on my hands."

I thought to myself.

What do I want to do with my free time?
