Missing In Action
The Cafeteria was filled with the wonderful scent of bacon and eggs that drifted from the kitchen. Lyric, Corey, Joshua, Katlyn, Emma, Caden, and Jasmine were scattered around the Cafeteria. Talking about various things. Emma and Katlyn however were in the kitchen cooking breakfast. They'd all been surprised when Katlyn had announced that she would watch Emma this morning to make sure she didn't posion anything. And the fact that she'd actually politely, and kindly said it surprised them all even more. Maybe Emma's delicious food from last night had softened her hard heart?
Lyric absentmindedly tapped her foot on the white tile that acted as the Cafeteria's floor. Beating out measures of quarter notes, and occasionally eighth notes. "We should probably go wake up everyone else soon. Otherwise they'll be late for breakfast." She noted, glancing at Corey, since they'd been talking for a bit. She'd begun to grow more at ease around her other classmates, and found it easier to initiate conversations.
The Ultimate Martial Artist nodded in agreement, "Agreed. There are nine of us that arn't here yet. If we ask Joshua to help each of us can go get three." Corey deducted.
Coincidentally Joshua approached the two, just moments after Corey's proposition. "Hey guys." Joshua greeted. His hands shoved in his lab coat pockets, and his posture relaxed.
"That timing though." Corey commented with a smirk. This commented just confused Joshua, since he had no clue what had occurred mere moments ago.
Lyric dismissed Joshua's confusedness by changing the subject. "Never mind. Can you help us wake everyone else up though? It's almost eight." She asked, looking up at him.
He shrugged, "Sure, I'll lend a hand. Who all do we need to get? I know that Lily Belle and Marik haven't shown up yet, but I'm not all that familiar with everyone else." Joshua replied.
By nature Lyric was rather forgetful, and it didn't help that she had short-term memory loss either. "Uh theres...Cody and Alex...And umm...Yeah! And Liam!" She exclaimed, happy to have remembered some names.
"Andrew, Genevieve, Dylan, and Samantha are the rest. You get Andrew Joshua, and I'll take the rest. You can go get the ones you mentioned Lyric." Corey offered, looking at each of them in turn.
"Sounds good to me." Joshua agreed. Lyric just offered a small nod to show that she agreed as well. The group headed then for the Dormitory, where they all spread out to find their fellow classmates doors and knock.
Lyric stumbled across Alex's door first, so after a few moments of preparing herself, she raised her hand and timidly knocked. "Hey Alex, uh it's almost time for breakfast!" She called, trying to look trough a small peephole in the door. To allow those inside to see who was outside.
It took a few minutes, but eventually a tired and semi-grumpy looking Alex stumbled out the door. "Not a morning person?" She inquired, staring at her somewhat messy hair.
"Nooooo." Alex groaned, combing her hair with her fingers. "Food?" She then said in a questioning manner.
It took a few seconds for this to register in Lyric's mind, "Oh-uh yeah. Breakfast should be done really soon. Can you head on down to the Cafeteria please?" She asked.
Alex stumbled out of her room, only locking it with a quick reminder from Lyric. Then she headed down to the Cafeteria from what Lyric could see. Time to get Cody up. With a bit of a quicker pace she headed for her yellow-green and blue eye'd friend's room. Knocking with less hesitation this time. She waited a solid five minutes before she knocked again. A quick measure of sixteenth notes. Two more minutes passed. 'Maybe he's a deep sleeper?' She thought, before she decided to try the door. Lyric slowly turned the doorknob, and to her surprise it opened. Weary she entered his room, her eyes diligently scanning the room like she scanned a new sheet of music.
She deduced easily that he wasn't here, since his old clothes had been dumped in a small pile at the foot of his bed. 'Lazy' she mentally chided. After a few more steps she got the pleasure of being startled by Monokuma! "Snooping around in your friends room? My my Lyric I never thought you'd be up for something so mischievous! Phuhuhuhuhu." The Bear hummed.
"Eep!" Lyric squeaked, spinning around so fast that she almost fell over. Before her then was who she expected from the voice. Monokuma. "I'm not snooping! I'm trying to figure out where Cody is!" Lyric protested, glaring daggers at the bear. "Besides you probably know where he is, so just tell me already so I can go get Liam up." She growled, a bit unserved by her own bold actions.
He dramatically held a small paw to his chest, "You wound me Lyric, as if I would even withhold information like that from you!" Monokuma sadly proclaimed.
A bit of hope flickered in Lyric's eyes, "So you'll tell me?" She pressed.
Monokuma just laughed, "Of course not! Heh you'll have to find him on your own!" He crowed, before running off somewhere. Leaving a somewhat frustrated Lyric. She sighed and exited Cody's room, closing the door behind her. She still had to wake up Liam. But Cody's disappearance worried her. What if someone had decided to kill before the motive!? What if he had lost it and tried to kill someone else!? Something told her that the later wasn't likely with him, even though she didn't know him well.
She practically ran down the hall towards Liam's room, knocking furiously on the door once she reached it. "Liam please open up!" Lyric pleaded, silently praying that the rainbow boi was okay.
It didn't take Liam long to answer her plea. He threw open the door, making Lyric jump back in surprise, and leapt out into the hallway. Making jazz hands, and smiling goofily. "Your rainbow boi is here, at your service!" Liam exclaimed.
The only way she kept a straight face was from many past practices and orchestra, band, ensemble, and other musical groups performances. "H-Hey Liam! Uh I have a question, have you seen Cody this morning?" Lyric hopefully asked. She'd seen the two talking in the gym where they first all got aquatinted. So she hoped that he might know where he was.
Liam rested a hand on his chin, and the other on his hip. "Welllll I don't think sooooo." He said, purposely drawing out his l's and o's. Lyric's hopeful expression fell, and this didn't go unnoticed by Liam. "What, you like him or something?" He suggestively questioned, raising his eyebrows for added effect.
She was quick to deny his assumptions, "N-No! H-He just wasn't in his room when I went to get him this morning, and I'm worried that someone decided to kill...Or something." She hastily explained.
After hearing this Liam grew serious. Which kinda surprised Lyric. "I'm sure he's fine. I know the blueberry might not look it, but he's strong. Not physically, but mentally." Liam assured her. His words didn't make to much sense to Lyric, but she decided to accept the small comfort they offered anyway. "Now it's almost time for breakfast right? So we should head to the Cafeteria." He suggested, patting her on the shoulder before walking past her. After he took a few more step however he turned and looked back, "You coming?" Liam asked.
Lyric shakily nodded. "Yeah." She softly said, before hurrying to catch up to him. Together they entered the cafeteria, to find that everyone else had congregated in a circle.
"Lyric, Liam have you seen Samantha?" Corey asked, taking notice of their entrance.
It was at that moment that Lyric felt truly alone. As if a small piece of her life, a piece that she couldn't quite recall, was being ripped from her. "N-No. Cody's missing to." Lyric shakily revealed.
Corey held up a necklace, a golden lion necklace, that had a small bit of dried crimson blood staining it's metallic surface. "This is Samantha's necklace." Corey announced, his tone angry and bitter. He paused for a moment to let this information sink in. "I found it when I went to go look for her. One of the locked classrooms was unlocked, so I went in. There I found this, along with a dented wall and some more blood. Like someone had been thrown into it." Corey continued, the emotions of his fellow students rising along with his words.
"Cody must have killed Samantha!"
Those dreaded words reached Lyric's ears. And the girl sobbed. Cody was no killer, she just knew it. Or was she wrong? Truth and Lies, Honesty and Deception. All hid under kind facades.
What happened to Samantha and Cody?
