"Naegi, you're late. Your tardiness won't be accepte-" Kiyotaka's voice was the first thing that flooded through Makoto's ears, deafening him and causing his headache to increase in pain.

"Kyoudai, give the guy a break, will ya?" Mondo, who happened to be sat beside Kiyotaka, sighed, shaking his head at Kiyotaka's behaviour. Kiyotaka seemed reluctant, but he sat down regardless. Makoto sighed, mumbling an apology to Kiyotaka. Considering the fact he had just lectured him on his tardiness, he seemed to dismiss the apology quite quickly, insisting that it was alright.

Makoto nodded, glad that he'd finally silenced himself. He loved his friends, sure, and he wouldn't change any of their behaviours for the world, but sometimes they got a bit loud, especially people like Kiyotaka and Leon. On days like this, he couldn't deal with it, but it was clear that Kiyotaka was trying his best to keep quiet. It was a start.

He took a seat next to Kyouko, staying silent. He rested his head on the table, waiting for someone to start the conversation. Nothing was said, so he raised his head, faced with his classmates, minus Sayaka and Leon whose fates shan't be talked about, all looking concerned. He sighed, resting his head back on his arms.

"For a lucky student Naegi, you sure seem to have quite bad luck." Byakuya commented, pushing his glasses further up his face. Makoto knew that he attempted to come across as villainous and malicious, but he truly did care for Makoto and some of their classmates. He was glad that he did allow himself some moments to show his care, no matter how stuck up he sounded.

"Bad luck?" He mumbled, looking back up. Had it been this bright before? He squinted his eyes, looking at the Ultimate Affluent Progeny who sighed, shaking his head. He muttered something Makoto couldn't quite hear, but it was certain some of his classmates heard him, seeing as they agreed with him.

"Togami's right." Kyouko muttered, leaning down to talk to him. He was glad the girl had the initiative to be quiet, but he was a bit insulted that she lent down to talk to him. He could've heard her fine if she was sat up. "You're in a state, and you'll reduce the rest of us to your condition if you don't return to your room."

He looked up, shocked. Why would they insist he left? Sure, he was pretty useless, and they all had amazing talents compared to him, but he tried really hard in the trial, and he found Leon guilty. What had he done wrong?

"Y-You haven't done anything wrong, Naegi." Chihiro whispered, placing her hand over one of his. She was attempting to comfort him, and he appreciated it. She was quite a nice girl, he thought. One of the better ones, compared to Touko and Celestia. She reminded him of Kyouko a little, but she was a lot more open than Kyouko. Not that he minded.

"W-What do you mean?" He asked, coughing afterwards. Celestia's head snapped towards him, and she moved away a little, watching as he coughed. She seemed quite disgusted, and ordered Hifumi to follow her, which he did quite quickly. He would've rolled his eyes at that. Like a dog on a leash, Hifumi was to Celestia.

"Y-You asked w-what you'd done wrong. Y-You haven't done anything wrong, y-you're very helpful!" She insisted. He nodded. Kyouko agreed.

"Fujisaki is right. You haven't done anything wrong, Naegi. We just simply care for your well being, and insist that you gain some more logic and decide to retreat for the day."

He sighed, looking up at the girl. She held a strong face, and Celestia probably would've been proud of her poker face. Had she allowed herself to falter, she would've given in to Makoto, allowing him to stay with them. She couldn't do this, however, knowing that as much as she wanted to stay with Makoto, his health was more important than personal interests.

Still, Makoto shook his head. He didn't want to seem inferior to his peers. Whether he was damned by his illness or not, he could still persevere. They needed him during this meeting. What if something important was discussed, and he wasn't here to hear it? What if they decided on a rule, and he broke it without knowing it?

Kyouko sighed, shaking her head. Makoto looked up, fearing he'd annoyed her. She seemed one of the only people who were willing to put up with his presence, and he'd already made her regret it. Perfect.

"If you fearing that you'll be alone, or that we'll be without you, I'll stay with you." She sighed, shaking her head. Makoto's eyes widened, some sort of hope shining in them. He liked Kyouko, she was nice. She actually cared for what he wanted, whether he voiced it or not.

"A male and a female sharing a room though. That's unthinkable. My apologies, Kirigiri. It's not that I do not trust you, or Naegi, it just goes against everything I stand for!" Kiyotaka stated, standing up. A couple of his classmates murmured, agreeing with Kiyotaka. Makoto shook his head.

"Too tired. Nothing'll happen. Promise." He whispered, weakly holding out his pinky to Kiyotaka. He seemed stunned, but he reluctantly linked their fingers together. Kyouko nodded.

"I'll return Naegi to his room. If anything happens, I'll inform you all." She promised. The rest of them all nodded, wishing them well, before Makoto felt someone lifting him up. He looked up, faced with Sakura, who had lifted him. He could've protested and said he could walk himself, but the stern look on both Kyouko and Sakura's faces instantly stopped any thought of getting out of this situation.

Kyouko sighed, a small smile set on her face, watching as Makoto instantly fell asleep in Sakura's arms. They'd hardly made it out of the cafeteria, and he was already too exhausted to stay awake.

After Sakura had reached Kyouko's room (seeing as Kyouko didn't have the heart to wake up Makoto and ask for his key), they both set Makoto down on her bed. She smiled lightly at Sakura, thanking her for her help. Sakura, however, waved it off, insisting that it was nothing too much for her, and she was glad she could help. Sakura left promptly afterwards, leaving Kyouko and Makoto.

She didn't expect Makoto to do much except sleep. She settled herself on one of the chairs in her room, picking up some random book from her floor and began reading. He didn't stir for a couple of hours, and occasionally Kyouko would look up from her book, watching Makoto with a small smile on her face. She wasn't a creep, she promises.

She seemed to have gotten too absorbed into her reading, however, as she was startled alert by the boy sneezing. Kyouko quickly set her book down, sitting on the bed beside Makoto, but still left some room beside him. She helped him sit up, and softly rubbed his back. She wasn't sure why, he was sneezing, not coughing, but she wasn't the Ultimate Nurse or anything like that.

"How're you feeling?" She asked softly. He mumbled something, moving his knees close to his chest. He then placed his arm over them, and rested his head on it. It was adorable, Kyouko admitted, but she couldn't focus on that. She picked up a glass of water someone had dropped off (she was sure it was Kiyotaka trying to amend what he'd said previously, and she appreciated it) and tried to hand it to Makoto.

"You need to drink something, Naegi." She sighed, attempting to hand him the water again. However, Makoto kept refusing. It was a little frustrating for her.

"Not thirsty." He mumbled. She groaned silently to herself.

"Makoto, just drink the damn water." She muttered. That raised his head.

"First name basis, huh?" He asked, chuckling a little before he coughed. She attempted to shove the water into his hands again, and he finally accepted it. Sure, he was only merely sipping it, but it was better than nothing.

Kyouko took of one of her gloves, Makoto too exhausted and distracted to bother looking at her hands, let alone ask about them, and felt his forehead. She quickly pulled her hand away. Whilst it wasn't scorching and at a worrying level, it was still quite high.

"I'll be back in a moment, Naegi." She promised, going to leave to find some sort of cooling pack to put on his head. He whined.

"Last name basis again. I-I mean don't leave me."

She smiled, promising she'd be back soon, before leaving. After she found her desired item, with admittedly a bit of help from Aoi and Chihiro, she quickly returned to Makoto's room, who hadn't moved an inch from where she'd left him.

"You need more rest, Makoto." She murmured. She knew he liked being on first name basis with her, and he truly did need some rest. He put down the glass of water, attempting to grab onto Kyouko's arm. She moved closer to him, and he weakly pulled her down onto the bed. Blushing, she attempted to stand up, but Makoto whined.

"Don't want you to leave me." He mumbled, pulling Kyouko into a hug. She nodded, laying back down, allowing him to pull her into a hug. So he was a cuddler, huh?

"Goodnight, Makoto." She sighed. It certainly wasn't night, but he didn't need to know that.

"Goodnight, Kyouko." He muttered, resting his head on her back before he drifted off to sleep. Kyouko was about to move, when she could feel her own exhaustion. Well, a couple of minutes wouldn't hurt, would it?

"Do you think we should wake them for dinner?" Aoi asked quietly. Sakura shook her head, and the others silently agreed. Even Byakuya.

"I'm sure if they need something, they can come get it themselves." Kiyotaka added. Mondo agreed. No surprise there.

"Yo, Naegi is pulli-"

"Someone get Hagakure out of here before I castrate him." Celestia hissed.

Whilst the others left, Byakuya lingered behind a little, watching the two of them. He liked the persona he had, however he believed that at times like this, it was alright for a couple of moments to let it all go for a little. Smiling, he walked over, pulling the covers over the two of them.

"Night Naegi, Kirigiri." He whispered to himself, before walking out.

He didn't realise both of them had heard him, but they'd never use it against him. Makoto thought he was a decent guy, under all of his heir standing.

"Night, Togami." He whispered back, knowing full well he'd left by then. He settled himself back to sleep, smiling into Kyouko's back, who had unconsciously laced their fingers together. He wouldn't mind this, not at all.
